Notes: 5 Things only Allah knows - Shaikh Faisal

tTafseer Baqarah: (5 Things Only Allah Knows)
By Shaikh Abdullah Faisal
(morning dars 4.13.11)

Surah Baqarah
3. Who believe in the Ghaib and perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), and spend out of what we have provided for them [i.e. give Zakat , spend on themselves, their parents, their children, their wives, etc., and also give charity to the poor and also in Allah's Cause - Jihad, etc.]

Reality of Al-Ghaib
--Test of Eeman is to believe in the unseen (al-ghaib)
--The most difficult thing Allah is asking you to believe in is not him Allah, but the hellfire
-Jehovah's Witness don’t believe in the trinity and hang onto monotheism, they don't believe in the hereafter and hell-fire
-Ibn Arabi believes that hellfire will go out and the people of hellfire will enjoy themselves in hellfire like the people of Jannah!

--Your skin will be replaced so you can taste the punishment
Surely! Those who disbelieved in Our Ayât (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc) We shall burn them in Fire. As often as their skins are roasted through, We shall change them for other skins that they may taste the punishment. Truly, Allâh is Ever Most Powerful, AllWise. (4:56)

--there are 7 levels of the hellfire: the munafiqeen will be in the lowest depth (Sakkar). The Muslims who sin will be in the topmost and will get out with shiffa
Verily, the hyprocrites will be in the lowest depths (grade) of the Fire; no helper will you find for them. (4:145)

--We believe in Al-Ghaib-->
Verily, Allâh! With Him (Alone) is the knowledge of the Hour, He sends down the rain, and knows that which is in the wombs. No person knows what he will earn tomorrow, and no person knows in what land he will die. Verily, Allâh is AllKnower, AllAware (of things). (31:34)

5 things Only Allah Knows
1. Allah 'tala alone knows when the Day of Judgment is
2. Allah alone knows exact weather conditions (ie. no one can predict)
3. Only Allah knows what is the nature of what's in the womb of a mother
4. No soul knows what you will earn tomorrow
5. No soul knows in what land it will die

Say (O Muhammad SAW): "I possess no power of benefit or hurt to myself except as Allâh wills. If I had the knowledge of the Ghaib (unseen), I should have secured for myself an abundance of wealth, and no evil should have touched me. I am but a warner, and a bringer of glad tidings unto people who believe." (7:188)
--Even the Rasul was commanded to declare to mankind that he does not have knowledge of al-ghaib except what Allah revealed to him
--At the Battle of Badr- A man promised he would not fight the Muslims if let go as he had daughters to feed, but he broke his promise and came back to kill Sahabahs at the Battle of Uhud. Rasul not know that the man would break his "wallahi" because he did not have knowledge of the unseen

Expatiation for breaking your wallahi:
- feed /clothe 10 miskeen (people who cannot feed themselves)
- free a slave
- or fast 3 days
when you are not the victim of circumstances: Only when you did not break your word deliberately and only if you are not forced
Allâh will not punish you for what is unintentional in your oaths, but He will punish you for your deliberate oaths; for its expiation (a deliberate oath) feed ten Masâkin (poor persons), on a scale of the average of that with which you feed your own families; or clothe them; or manumit a slave. But whosoever cannot afford (that), and then he should fast for three days. That is the expiation for the oaths when you have sworn. And protect your oaths (i.e. do not swear much). Thus Allâh make clear to you His Ayât (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) that you may be grateful. (5:89)

--Shiites claim their imams have complete knowledge of ilm ul-ghai. They claim they know when they will die and the don’t die except if it is their will!
--Shiite Imams begin with: Ali--> Hasan (Shiites believe that their Imams have knowledge of the unseen, yet Hasan died by eating a plate of food with poison, if he had knowledge of the unseen, Hasan committed suicide)
--Debate is important so you can refute those with dodgy aqeedah
--Because if you can’t debate them, you will join them (this is what Shaytaan wants)
--the Sunnah of the Sahabahs was to send someone to debate those with dodgy aqeedah:
--those who accept the hujjat and came to correct aqeedah, they spared their lives
--those who reject the hujjat and held onto incorrect aqeedah, they massacred them

Complete knowledge of Ilm al-ghaib belongs only to Allah
--When Ayesha was slandered, Rasul(saw) did not know what to believe (because Rasul did not know the unseen) And when Rasul sought advise of his Sahabah: Ali-->divorce her/ Zayd ibn Harith--> keep her (Many historians say Ayesha fought Ali because of this)
Wouldn’t it be against the character of the sahaba/sahabat to fight for personal reasons? The sahabahs were also human, but they were at a peak of good character (may Allah bless them)
Ifk = great slander (started by Abdullah ibn Ubbay ibn Salul--> king of Madina b4 Rasul(saw). Rasul (saw) needed a verse come down to clear her name when Ayesha was slandered:
Verily! Those who brought forth the slander (against 'Aishah the wife of the Prophet SAW) are a group among you. Consider it not a bad thing for you. Nay, it is good for you. Unto every man among them will be paid that which he had earned of the sin, and as for him among them who had the greater share therein, his will be a great torment. (24:11)
she recited: "Nay, but your ownselves have made up a tale. So (for me) patience is most fitting. And it is Allâh (Alone) Whose help can be sought against that which you assert." (12:18)
(First person to say this was Yaqub-as after his 11 sons came back with bloodied shirt of Yusuf-as claiming he was eaten by a wolf)
Safwaan: his last words on the battlefield: "I never had sex with a woman in my life"

Rasul (saw) said: stay away from the 7 major sins--> shirk, magic, murder, riba, to rob the orphan, to run from the battlefield, slander pious believing women
-- 80 lashes for slandering pious believing woman. This is only for the Muslims (because you cannot purify a munafiqh)
--Munafiqhis not convinced about the 6 pillars of eeman
Verily, the hypocrites will be in the lowest depths (grade) of the Fire; no helper will you find for them. (4:145)

You believe in al-ghaib and Allah did not reveal himself because your human nature is too weak to withstand Allah and the purpose of his being veiled from us (to test you) would be defeated
"You cannot see Me, but look upon the mountain if it stands still in its place then you shall see Me." So when his Lord appeared to the mountain[], He made it collapse to dust, and Mûsa (Moses) fell down unconscious. Then when he recovered his senses he said: "Glory be to You, I turn to You in repentance and I am the first of the believers." (7:143)

--Noah was the first of the believers in his time. Each prophet was the first and strongest of believers in his own time
--No ayat in the Qur’an contradicts another
Do they not then consider the Qur'an carefully? Had it been from other than Allah, they would surely have found therein much contradictions. (4:82)

You perform the salat:
Allowed to join prayers if you are busy
Allah intends for you ease, and He does not want to make things difficult for you (2:85)

You pay the zakat (2.5% on wealth 1yr old)
Faqeeh = someone who lives hand to mouth
Miskeen = someone who cannot even afford to eat
Khawwaar = wimp
And those who hoard up gold and silver [Al-Kanz: the money, the Zakat of which has not been paid], and spend it not in the Way of Allah, -announce unto them a painful torment (9:34)

3 days Islam survived
1. at the Battle of Badr when Muhammad (saw) raised his hands and prayed to Allah
2. When Abu Bakr fought the apostates for not paying zakat
3. When Imam ibn Hanbal took a stand against the Mutazalites (who claimed the Quran was created)
