Etiquettes of Dawah

by Shaikh Abdullah Faisal

(evening dars: 4.19.11 - 4.22-11)

Etiquettes of Dawah

1 Dress in clean clothing (you can't look frumpy)

The Hadith says Jibreel came to teach us the deen
-and his clothes were very white, his hair very black,
-no sign of germs, no one knew this person

"whose clothes were exceedingly white and whose hair was exceedingly black; no signs of journeying were to be seen on him " 2nd Hadith in Nawawi's 40 Hadith

2 Punctuality

When Shaikh was in South Africa and he had a navigator to get to places,
-so he would not be late!

He inspected the birds, and said: "What is the matter that I see not the hoopoe? Or is he among the absentees? 21 "I will surely punish him with a severe torment, or slaughter him, unless he brings me a clear reason"(27:20-21)

3 Be generous to the guest who comes to your home for dawah

-give them something to eat, sooth those needs
-we follow the religion of Prophet Ibrahim - at first he cooked for them

And (remember) when We said to the angels; "Prostrate to Adam" So they prostrated except Iblis (Satan) He was one of the jinns; he disobeyed the Command of his Lord Will you then take him (Iblis) and his offspring as protectors and helpers rather than Me while they are enemies to you? What an evil is the exchange for the Zalimun (polytheists, and wrong-doers, etc) 18-50

Let whosoever believes in Allah and in the Last Day either speak good or be silent Let whosoever believes in Allah and in the Last Day honour his neighbour Let whosoever believes in Allah and in the Last Day honour his guest" forty hadith imam :15

4 Don't ask for anything from whom you're giving dawah

-don't ask for specific things (if you're offered, you can accept or reject)

"Obey those who ask no wages of you (for themselves), and who are rightly guided 36-21

5 Don't accept gifts from people you're giving dawah to

Whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is on the earth glorifies Allah And He is the All-Mighty, the All-Wise 61-1

I found a woman ruling over them, and she has been given all things that could be possessed by any ruler of the earth, and she has a great throne24 "I found her and her people worshipping the sun instead of Allah, and Shaitan (Satan) has made their deeds fair-seeming to them, and has barred them from (Allah's) Way, so they have no guidance," 27:23-24 So when (the messengers with the present) came to Sulaiman (Solomon), he said: "Will you help me in wealth? What Allah has given me is better than that which He has given you! Nay, you rejoice in your gift!" 27-36
And fight them until there is no more Fitnah (disbelief and polytheism: ie worshipping others besides Allah) and the religion (worship) will all be for Allah Alone [in the whole of the world 8-79

Every prophet did jihad (party of Allah and party of shaitan)
Hizb - party of Allah and Hizb - party of shaitan

6 Be sincere w/ your dawah (speak from your heart, not your lips)
- people's lives will be changed when you deceive them so be sincere

Or do you think that most of them hear or understand? They are only like cattle; nay, they are even farther astray from the Path (ie even worst than cattle) 25-44

See Bukhari Vol 8 - Pg 334

Rasool's grandson heard man giving a speech, either there is a disease in my heart
-or one in his heart b/c what he is saying doesn't affect my heart

7 Don't quote abrogated [former] evidences when you're giving the dawah

-Some Sahabahs died drinking b/c it was forbidden when Hamza (ra) was alive
-Allah tala said don't come to salat while drunk

O you who believe! Intoxicants (all kinds of alcoholic drinks), gambling, Al-Ansab , and Al-Azlam (arrows for seeking luck or decision) are an abomination of Shaitan's (Satan) handiwork So avoid (strictly all) that (abomination) in order that you may be successful 5-90

Muslim women cannot marry a kaafir the kids from that marriage are bastard kids

O you who believe! When believing women come to you as emigrants, examine them, Allah knows best as to their Faith, then if you ascertain that they are true believers, send them not back to the disbelievers, they are not lawful (wives) for the disbelievers nor are the disbelievers lawful (husbands) for them(60-10)

Verily, those who disbelieve (in the religion of Islam, the Qur'an and Prophet Muhammad ()) from among the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) and Al-Mushrikun will abide in the Fire of Hell They are the worst of creatures 98-6

8 Don't quote fabricated Hadith

Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said, "If anyone drinks wine Allah will not accept prayer from him for forty days, but if he repents Allah will forgive him If he repeats the offence Allah will not accept prayer from him for forty days, but if he repents Allah will forgive him If he again repeats the offence Allah will not accept prayer from him for forty days, but if he repents Allah will forgive him If he repeats it a fourth time Allah will not accept prayer from him for forty days, and if he repents Allah will not forgive him, but will give him to drink of the river of the fluid flowing from the inhabitants of Hell" Al-Tirmidhi Hadith 3643 Narrated by Abdullah ibn Umar - Abdullah ibn Amr

If you deny that Muhammad is a prophet,
-or insult him or lie on him = you're a kaafir

The Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "He who tells a lie on me intentionally, let him take his seat in the Hellfire" (Bukhari Volume 1, No 107)

Example of fabricated Hadith – ‘when you divorce the throne of Allah shakes ‘

The Prophet said: "Whoever interprets (ie explains) the Qur'an according to his opinion, should settle himself in his seat of Fire" (as-Safi)

Say (O Muhammad ): "(But) the things that my Lord has indeed forbidden are Al-Fawahish (great evil sins, every kind of unlawful sexual intercourse, etc) whether committed openly or secretly, sins (of all kinds), unrighteous oppression, joining partners (in worship) with Allah for which He has given no authority, and saying things about Allah of which you have no knowledge" Surah 7-33

9 Don't seek to explain allegorical verses
10 Accept the truth (haqq) when you hear it

O you who believe! Stand out firmly for Allah and be just witnesses and let not the enmity and hatred of others make you avoid justice Be just: that is nearer to piety, and fear Allah Verily, Allah is Well-Acquainted with what you do 5-8

11 When you are speaking to a person, don't cut them off, assuming you knew what they would say

The Prophet said, "He really spoke the truth, although he is an absolute liar Do you know whom you were talking to, these three nights, O Abu Huraira?" Abu Huraira said, "No" He said, "It was Satan" (Sahih Bukhari; Book #38, Hadith #505t)

12 Listen to what person has to say then refute his aqeedah

If you fear a breach between them twain (the man and his wife), appoint (two) arbitrators, one from his family and the other from hers; if they both wish for peace, Allah will cause their reconciliation Indeed Allah is Ever All-Knower, Well-Acquainted with all things 4-35

13 Don't show off (the daa’ee) w/ your knowledge

Turn not thy cheek in scorn toward folk, nor walk with pertness in the land Lo! Allah loveth not each braggart boaster (18)

14 Do not use obscene words when you give dawah (no cursing)

Allah loveth not the utterance of harsh speech save by one who hath been wronged Allah is ever Hearer, Knower (148)

15 Do not raise your voice or scream and shout

16 Don't give dawah to those whose hearts are sealed

And the (faithful) slaves of the Most Gracious (Allâh) are those who walk on the earth in humility and sedateness, and when the foolish address them (with bad words) they reply back with mild words of gentleness (25:63) And the servants of (Allah) Most Gracious are those who walk on the earth in humility, and when the ignorant address them, they say "Peace!" (63)

Symptoms of sealed heart:
1 proud
2 rebellious to haqq
3 he uses the mistakes of other to justify his kufr
4 he highlights negative aspects of Islamic history
5 he tries to find mistakes in the Qur’an
6 he is addicted to unlawful desires of the flesh
7 actively giving dawah to false religions (eg Jehovah Witness)
8 he belongs to freemason or illuminati (satanic organizations)
9 he hates the Muslims
10 he insults Allah tala, the Rasool saws and Islam
ex Salman Rushdie author of Satanic Verses

"Do not seek knowledge to compete with the scholars, nor to argue with the foolish people, nor to gain control of gatherings; for whoever does that - the Fire, the Fire!" (Reported in Bayhaqi)

28) Don't insult their Gods so that they insult Allah [Surah 6:108]

29) Don’t start off your dawah with fiqh, but Tawheed

30) Don't condemn their culture unless that aspect of their culture is haraam

The Rasool (saws) started off giving dawah with tawheed

-this was the call of all the prophets
-the first thing Allaah (swt) sent down was “laa ilaha ila Allaah”

The Qur’an has 2 types of Surahs:
1. Makka Surahs (Surahs of Makkah )
2. Madina Surahs (Surahs of Madinah)

Surah Ikhlas is a short Surah that focus on Tawheed
(oneness of ALLAH)
-When kuffaar hear the Shariah they think its all hudood
-The kuffaar are in need of Shariah but they will not appreciate
-not until they know who ALLAH is

They (kuffaar) are trying to ridicule on ALLAH
These kaafirs of Europe and America are armpits of the society
How can you give Shariah to people who are so evil?

When you give Tawheed everything falls into place so start with tawheed

For 13 years the Prophet (saws) taught the mushrikeen of Makkah Tawheed
-when you begin dawah, you begin with Tawheed

Whenever you go to a land to give dawah,
-you do not condemn their culture in things
-that does not clash with Islam; go against with culture if the culture is haraam
-if you eat Easter eggs you imitating kuffaar
-shaytaan wants you to become confused

As a Muslim, you’re not allowed to be confused about spirituality
-You are Muslim first and last
-You can’t say I am half Muslim and half Christian
-Stay away from kaafir women - marry Muslim women

Everything according to Shariah law is halal until proven haraam
-not the other way around

31) Don’t change the fiqh of the people
-if you want to be a wise daa’ee don't try to change their fiqh
-leave them alone with their fiqh

32) Use hikmah in your dawah
-Speak to people according to level of your intelligence

Surah An Nahl 16:125 Invite (mankind, O Muhammad SAW) to the Way of your Lord (i.e. Islam) with wisdom (i.e. with the Divine Inspiration and the Quran) and fair preaching, and argue with them in a way that is better. Truly, your Lord knows best who has gone astray from His Path, and He is the Best Aware of those who are guided

Hikmah = wisdom
Khatam is bidah - (innovation in religion)

When you give dawah, you use hikmah; different strokes for different folks

33) Keep your surrounding clean, because ALLAH says in Baqarah 2:222

Surah Al Baqarah 2:222 Truly, Allah loves those who turn unto Him in repentance and loves those who purify themselves (by taking a bath and cleaning and washing thoroughly their private parts, bodies, for their prayers, etc)

The Prophet (saws) passed by two graves
-the 2 were punished in grave, one used to pass nameemah
-and other dropped urine on his clothes

When you are daa’ee your house, body and clothes should be kept clean

34) when you give dawah to kuffaar you should be gentle
-because ALLAH tala commanded Moosa to be gentle with pharaoh

Surah Taha 20:44 And speak to him mildly, perhaps he may accept admonition or fear Allah.

One day a man corrected Haroon Rasheed the Khalif

-Haroon Rasheed said ALLAH (send someone more knowledgeable than you
-to someone more worse than me) and commanded him to speak gently

'don’t be harsh to me because I am not Pharaoh, and you are not good like Musa PBUH' Al -E Imran 3:159

The Prophet (saws) was polite and gently while correcting the Sahabahs when they disobeyed him at Uhud

Surah al Imran 3:59 And by the Mercy of Allah, you dealt with them gently. And had you been severe and harsh-hearted, they would have broken away from about you; so pass over (their faults), and ask (Allah's) Forgiveness for them; and consult them in the affairs. Then when you have taken a decision, put your trust in Allah, certainly, Allah loves those who put their trust (in Him).

ALLAH was pleased with the behavior of the Prophet in Surah 3:59
-the Prophet (saws) was a perfect daa’ee (a caller to Islam)
-it only took him 23 years to bring entire Arabian Peninsula under Islam

Surah al Qalm 68:4 And verily, you (O Muhammad SAW) are on an exalted standard of character.

Surah Al Ahzab 33:21 Indeed in the Messenger of Allah (Muhammad SAW) you have a good example to follow for him who hopes in (the Meeting with) Allah and the Last Day and remembers Allah much.

35) Make a dua before you go to dawah

dua = supplication

Surah Taha 20:25 [Musa (Moses)] said: "O my Lord! Open for me my chest (grant me self-confidence, contentment, and boldness).

It was narrated that Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: “The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: ‘Be kind to women.’”(Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 3153; Muslim, 1468).

"And make loose the knot (the defect) from my tongue, (i.e. remove the incorrectness from my speech) [That occurred as a result of a brand of fire which Musa (Moses) put in his mouth when he was an infant]. [Tafsir At-Tabari, Vol. 16, Page 159].

Surah Al Baqarah 2:286 Allah burdens not a person beyond his scope. He gets reward for that (good) which he has earned, and he is punished for that (evil) which he has earned. "Our Lord! Punish us not if we forget or fall into error, our Lord! Lay not on us a burden like that which You did lay on those before us (Jews and Christians); our Lord! Put not on us a burden greater than we have strength to bear. Pardon us and grant us Forgiveness. Have mercy on us. You are our Maula (Patron, Supporter and Protector, etc.) and give us victory over the disbelieving people.

Crushing of Persian and Byzantine empires = 2 of history's turning points

The Sunnah of Rasool (pbuh) and the prophets before him was to make dua before you go to do dawah

36) You should make dua even after they rejected your dawah (call to Islam)

We sent thee not save as a mercy for the peoples. (21:107)

When Rasool (saws) feet was filled with blood after he was stoned in Taif, he was offered by angel to punish the people of Taif which he rejected

Surah Al Anbiya 21:107 And We have sent you (O Muhammad SAW) not but as a mercy for the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists).

Surah Yaseen 36:20 And there came running from the farthest part of the town, a man, saying: "O my people! Obey the Messengers

When the people stomped him to death
-ALLAH showed him his place in paradise
-He (swt) said "if only my people know that ALLAH
-has forgiven all my sins and made me honored ones"
-even though his people killed him he made dua for them

Many people who were enemies of Islam embraced Islam (eg. Umar bin Khattab )

The Prophet (saws) made the dua oh ALLAH you are the one who strengthens heart so keep our hearts steadfast on the religion

Surah Al Imran :8 (They say): "Our Lord! Let not our hearts deviate (from the truth) after You have guided us, and grant us mercy from You. Truly, You are the Bestower."

“ya muqallibal quloob sabbith quloobana ala deenik”

37) Avoid the company of deviants

You are not supposed to be in company of deviants unless you go to debate them

Surah Al An'am 6:68 And when you (Muhammad SAW) see those who engage in a false conversation about Our Verses (of the Quran) by mocking at them, stay away from them till they turn to another topic. And if Shaitan (Satan) causes you to forget, then after the remembrance sit not you in the company of those people who are the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc)

You are not allowed to sit with deviants,
-Ahmed Ibn Hanbal said if you sit with deviants you become confused
-if you go to chat rooms where people mocking Islam and Qur’an
-you become kaafir 4:140

Surah An Nisa 4:140 And it has already been revealed to you in the Book (this Quran) that when you hear the Verses of Allah being denied and mocked at, then sit not with them, until they engage in a talk other than that; (but if you stayed with them) certainly in that case you would be like them. Surely, Allah will collect the hypocrites and disbelievers all together in Hell,

-unless you go to those chatrooms for debate
-when you go to these chatrooms they say, before ALLAH created Arsh where was ALLAH
-they don't want to believe ALLAH is on the Arsh

Ta-Ha: The Most Gracious (Allâh) rose over (Istawâ) the (Mighty) Throne (in a manner that suits His Majesty). (5)

You don't know answer you loose your faith and think ALLAH is everywhere
-The answer to that question is ALLAH knows best (ALLAH hu alam)

If you go to these chatrooms they say David was king, so kingship is allowed
-but we don't follow the Shariah of David we follow the Shariah of Mohammed
-if you do Ijtihad when the text is clear then you are seeking to corrupt the religion

3 People can't be punished: a child, a sleeping man, and a madman

The Messenger of Allah said: “The Pen is lifted from three (i.e., their deeds are not recorded):1.a child until he reaches puberty; insane man until he comes to his senses; who is asleep until he wakes up.” [Recorded in Abu Dawud #4403, and Ibn Majah #2041

On many occasions Ali took Umar by hand to correct him,
-this is the leader you can correct by taking him with hand,
-not the ones who do not implement the Shariah

Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) say: I will expel the Jews and Christians from the Arabian Peninsula and will not leave any but Muslim. - Sahih Muslim, Book 019, Number 4366 and not to fight against him unless we noticed him having open Kufr (disbelief) for which we would have a proof with us from Allah." volume 9, Book 88, Number 178 , Bukhari.

(Allâh) said: "O Iblis (Satan)! What prevents you from prostrating yourself to one whom I have created with Both My Hands. Are you too proud (to fall prostrate to Adam) or are you one of the high exalted?" (38:75)

It is compulsory for you to believe that ALLAH has 2 hands
-but His (swt) hands do not resemble your 2 hands

The Creator of the heavens and the earth. He has made for you mates from yourselves, and for the cattle (also) mates. By this means He creates you (in the wombs). There is nothing like Him, and He is the All-Hearer, the All-Seer. (42:11)

(Allâh) said: "O Iblis (Satan)! What prevents you from prostrating yourself to one whom I have created with Both My Hands. Are you too proud (to fall prostrate to Adam) or are you one of the high exalted?" (38:75)

READ IT – BELIEVE IT – LEAVE IT ~ Shaikh Abdullah Faisal

Allaah ‘tala does not resemble His creation
-the deviants think of Allaah as they think of man,
-as they have shirk in their hearts
-Zoroastrians : fire worshippers of Iran: Aqeedah of 2 powers

38) Avoid bad habits about which people differ in public

39) Don’t interfere with scientific facts that were proven

- eg. the law of gravity
-Darwinism much is refuted and trashed!

40) Do not show off with your knowledge
-The people will say you are showing off and eeman will not enter their hearts

Have you seen him who denies the Recompense? That is he who repulses the orphan (harshly), And urges not the feeding of Al Miskin (the poor), So woe unto those performers of Salat (prayers) (hypocrites), Who delay their Salat (prayer) from their stated fixed times, Those who do good deeds only to be seen (of men), And refuse Al-Ma'un (small kindnesses e.g. salt, sugar, water, etc.) Al Maun 107:6

The Rasool (saws) spoke of the people who show off...: Allaah will expose his Shin

Surah Al Qalm 68:42 (Remember) the Day when the Shin shall be laid bare (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) and they shall be called to prostrate (to Allah), but they (hypocrites) shall not be able to do so, .."Do not seek knowledge to compete with the scholars, nor to argue with the foolish people, nor to gain control of gatherings; for whoever does that - the Fire, the Fire!" (Reported in Bayhaqi)

41) Treat celebrities the same after Shahadah ...

-When Abu Sufyan took his Shahadah prophet treated him as celebrity,
-after the Shahadah

42) Only tell people things that are necessary for them to know

Al-Ikhlas - In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful Say (O Muhammad (SAW)): "He is Allâh, (the) One. (1) "Allâh-us-Samad [Allâh the Self-Sufficient Master, Whom all creatures need, (He neither eats nor drinks)]. (2) "He begets not, nor was He begotten; (3) "And there is none co-equal or comparable unto Him." (4)

**You’re allowed to hide knowledge if the people can’t handle it**

And who guard their modesty - (5) Save from their wives or the (slaves) that their right hands possess, for then they are not blameworthy, But whoso craveth beyond that, such are transgressors - (23:5-7)

And excite any of them whom thou canst with thy voice, and urge thy horse and foot against them, and be a partner in their wealth and children, and promise them. Satan promiseth them only to deceive. (17:64)

I have memorized two kinds of knowledge from Allah's Apostle . I have propagated one of them to you and if I propagated the second, then my pharynx (throat) would be cut (i.e. killed).[Sahih Al Bukhari :: Book 1 :: Volume 3 :: Hadith 121]

And excite any of them whom thou canst with thy voice, and urge thy horse and foot against them, and be a partner in their wealth and children, and promise them. Satan promiseth them only to deceive. (17:64)

7:64 "And Istafziz [literally means: befool them gradually] those whom you can among them with your voice (i.e. songs, music, and any other call for Allah's disobedience), make assaults on them with your cavalry and your infantry, mutually share with them wealth and children (by tempting them to earn money by illegal ways usury, etc., or by committing illegal sexual intercourse, etc.), and make promises to them." But Satan promises them nothing but deceit.

A bastard child cannot lead salat in the masjid

MADkhalis call mujahideen terrorists – their al walaa wal baraa is upside down!

Narrated Abu Huraira: I have memorized two kinds of knowledge from Allah's Apostle. I have propagated one of them to you and if I propagated the second, then my pharynx (throat) would be cut (i.e. killed). [Sahih Al Bukhari :: Book 1 :: Volume 3 :: Hadith 121]

The knowledge that Abu Huraira took to his grave was the signs of wicked caliphs
-h that keepeth his mouth, keepeth his life

43) Practice what you preach (best of your ability)

-the kuffaar want to trash your character

Enjoin you Al-Birr (piety and righteousness and each and every act of obedience to Allah) on the people and you forget (to practise it) 2:44yourselves, while you recite the Scripture [the Taurat (Torah)]! Have you then no sense? 2:44

-kuffaar hate Islam w/ a passion, so don't give them an opportunity to trash you

O you who believe! Why do you say that which you do not do? 61:2

44) Don't contradict each other in front of the kuffaar

-Aqeedah is something that ummat argues about

And hold fast, all of you together, to the Rope of Allah (i.e. this Qur'an), and be not divided among yourselves, and remember Allah's Favour on you, for you were enemies one to another but He joined your hearts together, so that, by His Grace, you became brethren (in Islamic Faith), and you were on the brink of a pit of Fire, and He saved you from it. Thus Allah makes His Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.,) clear to you, that you may be guided. 3:103

- eg. 2 Muslims are invited into Islam - one believes Allah swt is on the Arsh and the other believes He is everywhere

And obey Allah and His Messenger, and do not dispute (with one another) lest you lose courage and your strength depart, and be patient. Surely, Allah is with those who are As-Sabirin (the patient ones, etc.). 8:46

When you do dawah or jihad, do not dispute amongst yourselves

45) Condemn all shades of falsehood

-this makes you since (you can pick and choose)

When do you believe in a part of the Scripture and reject the rest? Then what is the recompense of those who do so among you, except disgrace in the life of this world, and on the Day of Resurrection they shall be consigned to the most grievous torment. And Allah is not unaware of what you do. 2:85

46) Always choose an Amir when you set out on your journey
-(should be one w/ most taqwah)

47) Don't use falsehood to spread Islam
-Louis Farrakhan - using Black Nationalism to spread Islam via the NOI
-use Islam to spread Islam
-must use Qur'an and Sunnah to spread Islam
-good daa’ee is sincere, uses nothing bautil

48) Be prepared for your dawah
-research your topic / have notes
-he who fails to prepare / prepares to fail

49) Stick to the topic; don't digress (don't stray from the topic)

50) Always seek knowledge from the cradle to the grave (as a daa’ee)

And they ask you (O Muhammad ) concerning the Ruh (the Spirit); Say: "The Ruh (the Spirit): it is one of the things, the knowledge of which is only with my Lord. And of knowledge, you (mankind) have been given only a little." 17:85

12:76 - Then he (Joseph) began the search with their bags before his brother's bag, then he produced it from his brother's bag. Thus did We contrive for Joseph. He could not have taken his brother according to the king's law unless Allah willed. We raise by grades (of mercy) whom We will, and over every lord of knowledge there is one more knowing. (76)

51) Use their Holy books to confound them / trap them

-the Jews were told to read from their Torah;
-but the rabbi said to read exactly what it says
-so the Jew was stoned to death by their own book
-the Bible mentions Tawheed so show them this (so is jihad)

-John 5:37 = And the Father who sent me has himself testified concerning me. You have never heard his voice nor seen his form,

-Matthew 24:36 - "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.

in re: jihad in the Bible, Luke 19:27 -
“But those enemies of mine who did not want me to be king over them-bring them here and kill them in front of me.'"

-as a daa’ee, use their Bible verses to trap them

52) Don't despair
-only the kuffaar should despair
-it's kufr to despair

"O my sons! Go you and enquire about Yusuf (Joseph) and his brother, and never give up hope of Allah's Mercy. Certainly no one despairs of Allah's Mercy, except the people who disbelieve." 12:87

53) Don't show weaknesses for kaafir women when you give dawah;
don't go to their apartments...

-they will seduce you / be firm

54) Marry a person who shares your passion for dawah
-Noah and Lut (had kaafir wives so they weren't successful)
-The Rasool saws had a believing wife and he was very successful

The believers, men and women, are Auliyâ’ (helpers, supporters, friends, protectors) of one another; they enjoin (on the people) Al-Ma‘rûf (i.e. Islâmic Monotheism and all that Islâm orders one to do), and forbid (people) from Al-Munkar 9:71

They perform As-Salât (Iqâmat-as-Salât), and give the Zakât, and obey Allâh and His Messenger. Allâh will have His Mercy on them. Surely Allâh is All-Mighty, All-Wise. (9:71)

We should all help and protect one another in the dawah
-auliyaa = someone who shares and helps w/ the dawah
-we can tell if you're ready for the front line by looking @ your wife
-you chose according to the level according to the level of YOUR eeman
-if she's wear, doesn't wear hijab, then her husband is not ready for front line
-your eeman has to be strong to be in front lines
-evil women are for evil men and vice-versa

Women impure are for men impure and men impure are for women impure; and women of purity are for men of purity, and men of purity are for women of purity: these are not affected by what people say: for them there is forgiveness, and a provision honourable. (24:26)

-daa’ee is doing the job of the prophets, so whom you choose is VERY important

Goodness of dunya is these:
1) Pious wife
2) Reliable transportation
3) Spacious house
4) Good neighbor

Hasanats = goodness we get

55) Observe good manners when you give dawah; adab (mannerisms) esp when you differ
-be civil when you differ / don't scream

56) Don't borrow from the creed of the kuffaar

- eg "to say Allah is everywhere" (Judaism)
- eg to say He is in heaven is Christianity
- eg Allah tala is above the heavens
- eg to say He rested on the 7th day, is Christianity
- eg so don't borrow from their creeds
-stick to Islamic creed

57) Don't ask awkward questions / embarrassing

O ye who believe! ask not questions about things which, if made plain to you, may cause you trouble. But if ye ask about things when the Qur'an is being revealed they will be made plain to you: Allah will forgive those: for Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Forbearing. (5:101)

-don't ask questions if the answer you get will offend you
