Notes: Etiquettes of Dawah- Shaikh Faisal

Etiquettes of Dawah (Contd> 15-29)
By Shaikh Abdullah Faisal
(evening dars 4.19.11)

15) Lower your voice when you’re giving the dawah
--don’t scream and shout when you’re giving the dawah, you should be cool, calm and collected
Be modest in thy bearing and subdue thy voice. Lo! the harshest of all voices is the voice of the ass. (31:19)
16) Do not give dawah to the person whose heart is sealed
Therefore remind (men) in case the reminder profits (them) (87:9)
--When you meet someone who rebels against the haqq, you’re not allowed to give him dawah
--don’t throw silver and gold to the swine
--you’re not supposed to indulge in arguments, you can have discussions but don’t argue
--discuss in wise ways in a good manner
And the servants of (Allah) Most Gracious are those who walk on the earth in humility, and when the ignorant address them, they say "Peace!" (25:63)
17) When you speak, speak straight to the point - don’t beat around the bush
--if a kaafir should ask you 'if I don’t believe in judgment day, will I go to paradise?'
--‘if I don’t accept Muhammad can I go to paradise?' the straight answer to these questions is NO
O ye who believe! Fear Allah, and (always) say a word directed to the Right: That He may make your conduct whole and sound and forgive you your sins: he that obeys Allah and His Messenger, has already attained the highest Achievement. (33:70, 71)
--if you beat around the bush it means you’re a coward, you also give them the wrong impression, and you’re wasting you’re time
3 reasons not to beat around the bush
1. If you beat around the bush it means you’re a coward
2. You also give them the wrong impression
3. You’re wasting your time

18) Facilitate things in regard to the deen and make it easy for them
--give them guidance and don’t drive them away
--give them glad tidings and don’t drive them away
--the Sunnah is to do the easiest option - don’t burden yourself; don’t try to show off piety
--you’re not to burden anyone and you’re not allowed to even burden yourself
We have not sent down the Qur'an unto you (O Muhammad) to cause you distress, (20:2)
Allah intends for you ease and He does not want to make things difficult for you. (2:185)
Aiesha ra said "Whenever the Prophet (pbuh) had to choose between two options, he always opted for the easier choice." [Al-Bukhari]
--Allah intends every facility for you He does not want to put you to difficulties
--The people who make the deen a burden on themselves are the ones who apostate from ISLAM - ----They did not choose the middle path in the deen
19) Do not sit where Allah’s deen is ridiculed
--do not sit at a gathering where they mock Islam (that includes PalTalk chat rooms)
--if you go to debate, then it’s okay
--if you go to enjoy their company, you become a kaafir like them
Already has He sent you word in the Book, that when ye hear the signs of Allah held in defiance and ridicule, ye are not to sit with them unless they turn to a different theme: if ye did, ye would be like them. For Allah will collect the Hypocrites and those who defy faith? all in hell? (4:140)
--You are only allowed to go to a room where they praise ALLAH, where they glorify ALLAH, where they magnify the deen, and show reverence to Muhammad PBUH (not worship Muhammad, that is also haraam)
--Some Muslims even invite their Muslims friends to the kaafir PalTalk rooms just to enjoy this type of chat; this is an act of apostasy!
20) You are not allowed to go to a place that will damage your character
--eg. a disco, a pub, a casino, a brothel, a bar, nightclubs
--as a daa'ee these places are beneath your dignity and prestige, you need to respect yourself
21) When you are a daa'ee, be very careful how you answer questions
--think before you answer; a lot of kaafirs try to trap you
22) Be cool, calm, collected, and abstain from becoming angry (cantankerous)
And the servants of (Allah) Most Gracious are those who walk on the earth in humility, and when the ignorant address them, they say "Peace!" (25:63)
"I guarantee a house in Jannah for one who gives up arguing, even if he is in the right; and I guarantee a home in the middle of Jannah for one who abandons lying even for the sake of fun; and I guarantee a house in the highest part of Jannah for one who has good manners.'' [Abu Dawud]
"And our duty is only to convey plainly (the Message)." (36:17)
--don’t argue with the ignoramus; they can’t accept hujjat; they can’t cope it
23) Be patient when you’re giving the dawah, because you are speaking to degenerates
--the degenerate kaafirs are below the cattle; the lowest of the low
Or do you think that most of them hear or understand? They are only like cattle; nay, they are even farther astray from the Path. (i.e. even worst than cattle). (25:44)
We have indeed created man in the best of moulds, Then do We abase him (to be) the lowest of the low? (95:4-5)
Verily, those who disbelieve (in the religion of Islam, the Qur'an and Prophet Muhammad ) from among the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) and Al-Mushrikun will abide in the Fire of Hell. They are the worst of creatures. (98:6)
--they are spiritually empty, morally bankrupt, ethically perverse = degenerate kaafir
--they’ll ask you questions - 'can a Muslim woman have 4 husbands
--like the man who can have 4 wives?'
--the kuffar will try to make you lose your cool, so be patient with them
"O my son! Aqim-is-Salat (perform As-Salat), enjoin (people) for Al-Ma'ruf (Islamic Monotheism and all that is good), and forbid (people) from Al-Munkar (i.e. disbelief in the Oneness of Allah, polytheism of all kinds and all that is evil and bad), and bear with patience whatever befall you. Verily! These are some of the important commandments ordered by Allah with no exemption. (31:17)
By Al-'Asr (the time). Verily! Man is in loss, Except those who believe (in Islamic Monotheism) and do righteous good deeds, and recommend one another to the truth (i.e. order one another to perform all kinds of good deeds (Al-Ma'ruf) which Allah has ordained, and abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds (Al-Munkar) which Allah has forbidden), and recommend one another to patience (for the sufferings, harms, and injuries which one may encounter in Allah's Cause during preaching His religion of Islamic Monotheism or Jihad, etc.). (103:1-3)
--The worst man on Judgment day is a man who killed a Prophet, or a man who was killed by a Prophet
"What can my enemies possibly do to me? My paradise is in my heart; wherever I go it goes with me, inseparable from me. For me, prison is a place of (religious) retreat; execution is my opportunity for martyrdom; and exile from my town is but a chance to travel." Ibn Taymiyyah
--It is a powerful message and you will suffer.  This is why people sell out
Had We sent down this Quran on a mountain, you would surely have seen it humbling itself and rending asunder by the fear of Allah. Such are the parables which We put forward to mankind that they may reflect. Allah is with the patient ones polytheism of all kinds and all that is evil and bad), and bear with patience whatever befall you. Verily! These are some of the important commandments ordered by Allah with no exemption. (59:21)
--Many wives of the Sahabah prevented them from migrating
--the wives were keeping them back from the deen
O you who believe! Verily, among your wives and your children there are enemies for you (i.e. may stop you from the obedience of Allah), therefore beware of them! But if you pardon (them) and overlook, and forgive (their faults), then verily, Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. (64:14)
--Umm Salama (was one of the first people to migrate, the kuffar caught her son and dislocated his arm; so for one year she was searching for her son; when she found her son she began to migrate, even on her feet; 300 miles, Mecca to Medina on her FEET - someone gave her a lift and she finally caught up with her husband
24) Use practical examples when you are giving the dawah
--use the stories of the prophets when you’re giving the dawah
25) Use fiqh ul waqi
--when you give the dawah, the fiqh of current events
--eg. all the time there are robberies, all the time women are raped
--this is what you get under man-made law
--in Pakistan, if a woman is raped, the people will blame the girl for being raped! There is no justice there.  They will kill the girl for their honor - this is the problem under manmade law
--eg. Thomas Hamilton - he was a pedophile who went into a classroom to kill 22 kids because they put an injunction on him (restraining order)
--fatal attraction - if I can’t have you no one can: ‘I am gonna kill you’
--eg. Dr Harold Shipman - killed 500 of his elderly patients, the gov’t turned blind eye
--the European kuffar think it’s good to kill old people, it’s too much of a burden for them to take care of them
--show them the crime rates in the society ---- none of this would happen under an Islamic state

**HISTORY REPEATS ITSELF**
--use the stories of the prophets, you can learn many lessons from it - history repeats itself
--in the time of the prophets, people worshipped idols
--people worship idols today: democracy, cheating on the scales, black magic, manmade ideas and ideals - it’s all prevalent today
--in the time of Muhammad PBUH they put on him sanction and embargo for 3 years
--the European Union puts embargo and sanctions on the Muslims today
--back then they used their form of media to insult the prophet PBUH --- as they do today
--kuffar will always use their media industry to smear Islam
And of mankind is he who purchases idle talks (i.e. music, singing, etc.) to mislead (men) from the Path of Allâh without knowledge, and takes it (the Path of Allâh, or the Verses of the Qur'ân) by way of mockery. For such there will be a humiliating torment (in the Hell-fire) (31:6)
History Repeats itself because of 3 reasons:
1. shaitan never changes his strategy
2. the kuffar, their hearts are alike
And those who have no knowledge say: "Why does not Allah speak to us (face to face) or why does not a sign come to us?" So said the people before them words of similar import. Their hearts are alike, We have indeed made plain the signs for people who believe with certainty. (2:118)
3. You will never find any change in the Sunnah of ALLAH

26) When you are giving the dawah, don’t be afraid to say "I don’t know"
Say (O Muhammad SAW): "(But) the things that my Lord has indeed forbidden are Al-Fawahish (great evil sins, every kind of unlawful sexual intercourse, etc.) whether committed openly or secretly, sins (of all kinds), unrighteous oppression, joining partners (in worship) with Allah for which He has given no authority, and saying things about Allah of which you have no knowledge." (7:33)
Prophet Muhammad – may Allah bless him - to whom the Qur’an was revealed, has admonished: “Whoever says something about the Qur’an without knowledge (bi-ghayri ‘ilm) or on the basis of his opinion (bi-ra’yihi), let him take from now his seat in the Hellfire” [Narrated by Imam al-Tirmidi and al-Nasa’i]
27) Shun controversial topics when you’re giving the dawah
28) Don’t insult their false gods so that they don’t insult ALLAH
And insult not those whom they (disbelievers) worship besides Allah, lest they insult Allah wrongfully without knowledge. Thus We have made fair-seeming to each people its own doings; then to their Lord is their return and He shall then inform them of all that they used to do. (6:108)
29) Don’t start off your dawah with fiqh because it is against the Sunnah
--when you’re inviting people to the haqq, first invite them to Tauheed, not the Sharia
--don’t immediately start forbidding their actions
--invite to Tawheed first - very important
--nothing deserves to be worshipped but Allah subhan’watala
--don’t demand for Sharia at first --- it doesn’t coincide with the manhaj of Muhammad PBUH
--you need to bring Tawheed to the people -- after that they will automatically demand for Sharia
--the first thing you should invite them to is: la ilaha illallah
--if they accept guide them to salat and then zakat
--When you show Sharia to the kuffar -- it’s like showing silver and gold to the swine, they will never appreciate it, therefore preach Sharia in a Muslim country where people of taqwa will appreciate it
--Even if you don’t like jihad, it is prescribed for you [2:16]
**THE WAY FORWARD IS NOT THE BALLOT BUT THE BULLET**
