Notes: Importance of Guidance- Shaikh Faisal

 Surah Baqarah: (Importance of Guidance)
by Shaikh Abdullah Faisal
(morning dars 4.08.11)

Surah Baqarah
1. Alif-Lam-Mim. These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings
2. This is the Book (the Quran), whereof there is no doubt, a guidance to those who are Al-Muttaqun [the pious and righteous persons who fear Allah much (abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds which He has forbidden) and love Allah much (perform all kinds of good deeds which He has ordained)]
3. Who believe in the Ghaib and perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), and spend out of what we have provided for them [i.e. give Zakat , spend on themselves, their parents, their children, their wives, etc., and also give charity to the poor and also in Allah's Cause - Jihad, etc.]

Two types of guidance
Irshaad- when one man guides another to Islam
Tawfeeq- when Allah puts guides someone to Islam by inspiring him that Islam is the truth without anyone giving him the dawah

Verily! You (O Muhammad) guide not whom you like, but Allah guides whom He wills. And He knows best those who are the guided (28:56)
By Al-'Asr (the time). Verily! Man is in loss, Except those who believe (in Islamic Monotheism) and do righteous good deeds, and recommend one another to the truth (i.e. order one another to perform all kinds of good deeds (Al-Ma'ruf)which Allah has ordained, and abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds (Al-Munkar)which Allah has forbidden), and recommend one another to patience (for the sufferings, harms, and injuries which one may encounter in Allah's Cause during preaching His religion of Islamic Monotheism or Jihad, etc.).  (103:1-3)

If you cannot answer the questions that are put to you by the angels in the grave, you will be in a state of loss / punished
-Who is your lord?
-What is your religion?
-Who is your prophet?

***Ignorance cannot be given excuse for the shirk of ibadah
And (remember) when your Lord brought forth from the Children of Adam, from their loins, their seed (or from Adam's loin his offspring) and made them testify as to themselves (saying): "Am I not your Lord?" They said: "Yes! We testify," lest you should say on the Day of Resurrection: "Verily, we have been unaware of this." (7:172)

Allah (swt) makes takfir on the pagans (Christians) who claim that ALLAH is part of a trinity
Surely, they have disbelieved who say: "Allah is the Messiah ['Iesa (Jesus)], son of Maryam (Mary)." But the Messiah ['Iesa (Jesus)] said: "O Children of Israel! Worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord." Verily, whosoever sets up partners in worship with Allah, then Allah has forbidden Paradise for him, and the Fire will be his abode . And for the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers) there are no helpers.  Surely, disbelievers are those who said: "Allah is the third of the three (in a Trinity)." But there is no ilah (god) (none who has the right to be worshipped) but One Ilah (God -Allah). And if they cease not from what they say, verily, a painful torment will befall the disbelievers among them (5:72-73)
***Ignorance is never an excuse for worshipping false gods
(On the Day of Judgment, there will be NO excuse)

You must have authentic guidance in your life
--We say 'show us the straight path' in our salat many times throughout the day = the importance of being guided
--Allah guided Muhammad PBUH - Muhammad PBUH used to seek guidance and peace and he would contemplate in the cave - then the Angel Gabriel came to Muhammad PBUH - and told him to recite- IQRA - the guidance now begun Alhamdulillah-->  The most sacred book - the Holy Quran- revealed in the best language- the Arabic language - revealed in the most holy city Mecca - by Allah's closest Angel, Gabriel - to his most beloved Prophet Muhammad PBUH - in the holiest of months – Ramadan

You need to learn Arabic , don’t be LAZY
Don’t be racist/nationalist - prefering to speak other languages over Arabic
It is not permissible for the Muslim to prefer any other language over the Arabic language

The people of taqwa believe in the Unseen (al ghaib)
1) Prophet (saws)
2) Angels
3) Jinn
4) Heaven
5) Hell

You are not allowed to doubt the punishment of the grave - (ghaib)
--Some say they trust in the punishment of the grave, but they don’t believe in it - this is just playing with words - it’s not correct

The cousin of the Prophet PBUH, Ali, said 'we used to have doubts about the punishment of the Grave but after the verse (102:1-8) was revealed, we no longer had doubt'

We, as Muslims, don’t doubt the SOURCE of the Qur’an
--We believe it’s the Kalamullah, the Speech of ALLAH
--Not ONE word from the Qur’an came from Muhammad PBUH

We don’t doubt the JUSTICE in the Qur’an - we cut the hand of the thief
Cut off (from the wrist joint) the (right) hand of the thief, male or female, as a recompense for that which they committed, a punishment by way of example from Allah. And Allah is All-Powerful, All-Wise. (5:38)

We don’t doubt the WISDOM of the Qur’an
--Even if we don’t fully understand the majestic wisdom of ALLAH
--We say 'we hear and we obey'
--We are submissive to ALLAHS wisdom and we don’t question His Judgment
Allah promised us that ALLAH will not put a burden on us larger than we can bear
--so we have full belief in this
--nothing in the Qur’an is TOO hard to follow
