Who Are YOU? (The People of Sabr)
by Shaikh Abdullah Faisal
(evening dars 4.09.11)
WHO ARE YOU?
1) The believer is a shy person
2) You the believer, prays with kushoo (if you fidget 3x in one position or laugh in your salat, your salat is bautil)
3) You do not engage in idle talk; you speak sensibly
Who are YOU?
4) You pay your zakat (2.5% of your yearly wealth)
-You are only allowed to pray behind or give zakat to people with incorrect Aqeedah
O you who believe! Verily, there are many of the (Jewish) rabbis and the (Christian) monks who devour the wealth of mankind in falsehood, and hinder (them) from the Way of Allah (i.e. Allah's Religion of Islamic Monotheism). And those who hoard up gold and silver [Al-Kanz: the money, the Zakat of which has not been paid], and spend it not in the Way of Allah, -announce unto them a painful torment. (9:34)
Help you one another in Al-Birr and At-Taqwa (virtue, righteousness and piety); but do not help one another in sin and transgression. And fear Allah. Verily, Allah is Severe in punishment. (5:2)
--If you store up your wealth in silver/gold, you must pay zakat on it but if you wear it, you don’t pay zakat on it. Zakat is on the wealth that is one year old (cash and gold). But if you have crops (perishable goods), you have to pay zakat the day you harvest the crop
And it is He Who produces gardens trellised and untrellised, and date-palms, and crops of different shape and taste (its fruits and its seeds) and olives, and pomegranates, similar (in kind) and different (in taste). Eat of their fruit when they ripen, but pay the due thereof (its Zakat, according to Allah's Orders 1/10th or 1/20th) on the day of its harvest, and waste not by extravagance . Verily, He likes not Al-Musrifun (those who waste by extravagance), (6:141)
--If you don’t pay zakat, you’re a kaafir outside the fold of Islam by rejecting one 5 pillars of Islam. Allah (swt) will stop sending rain if you don’t give zakat. Why should Allah ‘tala have mercy on you when you don’t have mercy for creation
Who are YOU?
5) You protect your private parts
And of mankind is he who purchases idle talks (i.e. music, singing, etc.) to mislead (men) from the Path of Allah without knowledge, and takes it (the Path of Allah, the Verses of the Qur'an) by way of mockery. For such there will be a humiliating torment (in the Hell-fire). (31:6)
And those who guard their chastity (i.e. private parts, from illegal sexual acts) Except from their wives or (the captives and slaves) that their right hands possess, for then, they are free from blame; But whoever seeks beyond that, then those are the transgressors Surah al-Muminoon, (23:5-7)
Alcohol and the western culture make it very easy to commit zina
Who are YOU?
6) You do everything according to Quran/Sunnah
--You don't take captives till you subdue the land or you're making up your own HISLAM=Some Muslims live OFF the deen and not BY the deen
It is not for a Prophet that he should have prisoners of war (and free them with ransom) until he had made a great slaughter (among his enemies) in the land. You desire the good of this world (i.e. the money of ransom for freeing the captives), but Allah desires (for you) the Hereafter. And Allah is All- Mighty, All-WiseSurah al-Anfal, 8:67
--Imam Malik - masturbation is haraam but Imam Ibn Hanbal said it is halal for those who fear falling into zina. Imams Shafi and Hanifa say its makrooh (permissible)
There's no word for this in Arabic so it’s called "the secret habit” [aada sirriya] or “fornication of the hands”
--Like Homosexuality, there is no word in Arabic for it: Quam Lot
White men (kaffirs) are Spiritually empty, Morally bankrupt and Ethically perverse
Who are YOU?
7) You can be trusted
8) You protect your 5 daily prayers
--Munafiqh: he lies - he breaks promises - he is treacherous - he is abusive
Those who are faithfully true to their Amanat (all the duties which Allah has ordained, honesty, moral responsibility and trusts etc.) and to their covenants; And those who strictly guard their (five compulsory congregational) Salawat (prayers) (at their fixed stated hours). Surah al-Muminoon, 23:8-9
The Rasool (saws) warned us against wicked scholars
--Some are shaikhs, most are snakes
--they were given knowledge, but leave it behind because they think dunya is better!
--they leave knowledge behind the way a snake leaves behind its skin!
--they make haraam halal and halal haraam
And recite (O Muhammad SAW) to them the story of him to whom We gave Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), but he threw them away, so Shaitan (Satan) followed him up, and he became of those who went astray. (7:175)
When those who were followed, disown (declare themselves innocent of) those who followed (them), and they see the torment, then all their relations will be cut off from them. And those who followed will say: "If only we had one more chance to return (to the worldly life), we would disown (declare ourselves as innocent from) them as they have disowned (declared themselves as innocent from) us." Thus Allah will show them their deeds as regrets for them. And they will never get out of the Fire (2:166-167)
--The worst con-artist is not the one who cons you out of dinar and dirham, but the one who cons you by depriving your of your akhira by conning you with regards to your deen
Who are YOU?
9) You don’t commit suicide. You are resolute when faced with calamity
And certainly, We shall test you with something of fear, hunger, loss of wealth, lives and fruits, but give glad tidings to As-Sabirin (the patient ones, etc.). Who, when afflicted with calamity, say: "Truly! To Allah we belong and truly, to Him we shall return." They are those on whom are the Salawat (i.e. blessings, etc.) (i.e. who are blessed and will be forgiven) from their Lord, and (they are those who) receive His Mercy, and it is they who are the guided-ones. (2;155-157)
Verily, We have created man in toil. Surah al-Balad, (90:4)
--Whether tested with fear, hunger, loss of property or loved ones you are resolute and patient
--You are not like the kuffar who put a gun to their head (this life was created to test you)
--When faced with a calamity, you say, “iina lillahi wa inna illahi rajioon”="from Allah we come and to Allah we will return"
--There is nothing in Qur’an and Sunnah that tells you that you must be please with Qadr (Allah’s will) but you must be patient with qadr
--Ibn Taymiyyah said you do not have to be pleased with it but must be PATIENT with it
Why do you need to be patient with qadr?
1) You can’t insult Allah (swt)
2) You cannot apostate
3) You can’t commit suicide
Rasul(saw) said: wonderful and mavelous is the affair of the Mu'min and this is not for anyone except the Mumin. When good comes to the Mum'n, he is grateful and this is good for him. And whenever a calamity befalls him, he is patient and this is good for him
--believers will be tested: Do you think you can claim to be a believer and not be tested? No!
Do people think that they will be left alone because they say: "We believe," and will not be tested. And We indeed tested those who were before them. And Allah will certainly make (it) known (the truth of) those who are true, and will certainly make (it) known (the falsehood of) those who are liars, (although Allah knows all that before putting them to test). (29:2-3)
Who are YOU?
10) You love and hate for the sake of Allah ‘tala (al wala wal barra)
You (O Muhammad SAW) will not find any people who believe in Allah and the Last Day, making friendship with those who oppose Allah and His Messenger (Muhammad SAW ), even though they were their fathers, or their sons, or their brothers, or their kindred (people). For such He has written Faith in their hearts, and strengthened them with Rooh (proofs, light and true guidance) from Himself. And We will admit them to Gardens (Paradise) under which rivers flow, to dwell therein (forever). Allah is pleased with them, and they with Him. They are the Party of Allah. Verily, it is the Party of Allah that will be the successful. (58:22-23)
--You love the believers and show enmity and disavowal those who are enemies of Allah (swt), His Rasool (saws) and the Believers
Who are YOU?
11) You mind your own business!
On the authority of Abu Hurairah, radiyallahu 'anhu, who said : The Messenger of Allah, sallallahu 'alayhi wasallam, said : "Part of the perfection of someone's Islam is his leaving alone that which does not concern him." [Tirmidhi]
--Don’t poke your nose into that which doesn’t concern youEx. Jamaica, Barbados, (Trinidad, Bahamas, Iceland and Greenland are democracies but no one hates them because they don’t poke their nose in other country’s business)
--It is haraam for you to ask inquisitive questions
--And it is haraam to ask questions that, when the answer is given, it will cause you pain
O you who believe! Ask not about things which, if made plain to you, may cause you trouble. But if you ask about them while the Quran is being revealed, they will be made plain to you. Allah has forgiven that, and Allah is Oft Forgiving, Most Forbearing. (5:101)
