Requirements of Jihad 2 - Shaikh Faisal

Requirements of Jihad II
Shaikh Abdullah Faisal
(evening dars 5.11.11)

For everything, we have requirements; our religion is organized; it’s not fitnah
The Requirements of Jihad
1. Eeman
2. Maturity
3. Sanity
4. Sound body
5. Leadership
6. Training
7. Transportation
8. Money
9. Weaponry
10. Obedience to the Amir
11. Pure intentions
12. Unity
13. Sabr
14. Relying on Allah (swt)
15. Nusrah
16. Bravery
17. Dhikr
18. Brotherhood

Examining the Requirements of Jihad:
1. Eeman
--Allah only accept the deeds of the Muttaqun
--It is the Sunnah of Umar (ra) to use kuffar to kill kuffar
"Verily, Allah accepts only from those who are Al-Muttaqun" 5:27
--You can’t use the kuffar to kill Muslims
--Umar (ra) used the kuffar to kill kuffar
--there isn't any similarity between bin Baz and Umar (ra)

3 conditions to use kuffar in battle / jihad (they must be):
--a sympathizer to Islam
--a foot soldier and
--able to be controlled

2. Maturity
--15 is the age of maturity

3. Sanity
--you can’t take a mad man to the battlefield; he may cause disaster
--he can’t follow instructions

4. Sound body
--you need a healthy mind and a sound body

Not equal are those of the believers who sit (at home), except those who are disabled (by injury or are blind or lame, etc.), and those who strive hard and fight in the Cause of Allah with their wealth and their lives. Allah has preferred in grades those who strive hard and fight with their wealth and their lives above those who sit (at home).
Unto each, Allah has promised good (Paradise), but Allah has preferred those who strive hard and fight, above those who sit (at home) by a huge reward; 4:95

No blame or sin is there upon the blind, nor is there blame or sin upon the lame, nor is there blame or sin upon the sick (that they go not forth to war). And whosoever obeys Allah and His Messenger (Muhammad ), He will admit him to Gardens beneath which rivers flow (Paradise); and whosoever turns back, He will punish him with a painful torment. 48:17

The Hadith about Jihad of Nafs is the greatest jihad is FABRICATED

This fabricated Hadith contradicts Surah Nisa :95 and Surah 48:17
There was a blind Sahabah who used to go to Jihad, even though Allah said to the blind man you can sit at home; He used to carry the flag for the Muslims

--look at the taqwa of the companions of the Rasul s.a.w.
To those who insult the Companions (ra), we say "what did you do for Islam?"
--Muawaiya conquered the whole of North Africa
--these Shias who make takfir on Muawaiya we ask, "what did you do for Islam"
--The Shias haven't conquered anything; they only make fitnah in the Ummah

5. Leadership
--you don’t need a Caliph for Jihad, but you need an AMIR for Jihad
--Musta'sim :: Abbasid Caliph in Baghdad; he ruled from 1242 until his death.
--when the Soviets invaded Afghan, Shaikh bin Baz passed fatwa of jihad (fard)
--he quoted the Hadith about The Muslim Ummah being One Body to pass this fatwa
--when he passed the fatwa, half a million men (even old men) went to Afghanistan
--they fought and defeated the largest army in the world (Soviet Union)

The Messenger of Allah (saw) also said, "The believers, in their love, mutual kindness, and close ties, are like one body; when any part complains, the whole body responds to it with wakefulness and fever." [Muslim]

--the Soviet Union was a stronger army than the American army
--if the Soviet Union didn’t succeed then the American army won’t succeed
--Afghanistan is the Graveyard of the Empires
--the word “superpower” is shirk; Allah swt is the Only Super Power
--Shaikh bin Baz passed the fatwa that Jihad is fard ayn on the Muslims
--we didn't have any Caliph then (approx 1982)
--he didn’t say I'm not going to pass a fatwa because we don’t have a Caliph
--he said Jihad is fard ayn on the Muslims
--Usama bin Laden was one of those men who went to Afghanistan to do Jihad
--if jihad was such a bag thing, then why did Ronald Reagan send stinger missiles to
--Afghan w/ the CIA dressed in turbans?
--the CIA trained the mujahideen
--the American media called them "Freedom Fighters"
--when the Soviet union was destroyed, they were laughing!
--the Soviet Union was finished
--the stinger missiles were sent as retaliation for a Korean jet that was shot down by
Russians who said they thought it was a spy plane, approx 1982

6. Training
And make ready against them all you can of power, including steeds of war (tanks, planes, missiles, artillery, etc.) to threaten the enemy of Allah and your enemy, and others besides whom, you may not know but whom Allah does know. And whatever you shall spend in the Cause of Allah shall be repaid unto you, and you shall not be treated unjustly. 8:60

The terrain is too harsh, everything has to be brought by helicopter or trucks;
--how can you survive?
The Defense Secretary was a Jew and he said " We gave them there Vietnam"
--when the USA was fighting in Vietnam, Russia gave the Vietnamese weapons to
defeat the USA
All the nations are going to pull out of Afghanistan (like the Canadians just announced they would, May 2011) -- and leave America by herself
The Canadians, who are close allies to the Americans, are leaving Afghanistan, the Canadians are losing their sons for what?

Usama bin Laden is dead, so we can go home. And when they go back home the Taliban is going to come back! So there is baraka in the death of Shaikh Usama bin Laden. The kuffar are going to pull out and go back home and the Taliban is going to come back

Shaikh Usama got what he wanted Jannatul Firdous

--Khalid ibn Waleed fought every battle to die on the battlefield but he did not die on the battlefield;
--he never lost a battle and won more battles than anyone else
--Khalid ibn Waleed said "Let me use my sword to kill the kuffar the way I use to use my sword to kill the Muslims"
--but he didn’t die on the battlefield because it wasn't written by Allah for him to die this way
--Usama bin Laden got what he wanted, some of you pray janaza for him which is BID'AH;
--you don’t do janaza because they aren't dead they are alive

Since they’ve killed Usama bin Laden, then they will pull out and the Taliban will come back Insha'Allah,
so they wasted all of that money they spent

Verily, those who disbelieve spend their wealth to hinder (men) from the Path of Allah, and so will they continue to spend it; but in the end it will become an anguish for them. Then they will be overcome. And those who disbelieve will be gathered unto Hell. 8:36

They will spend their money because they are terrified and petrified of Islam
--it will become anguish for them
--the Taliban will come back, and they will ask themselves
--"Why did we pay billions, what did we accomplish??"
--we are living to see Surah Anfal :36 fulfilled

7. Transportation
--in the time of the Rasul s.a.w., the Sahabahs used to go to the Prophet s.a.w.
--they said "We want to go for Jihad"
--and the Rasul s.a.w. "I don’t have any horses or camels to take you to the front line"
--the Sahabahs went back home crying; they are real Muslims, not hypocrites

Nor (is there blame) on those who came to you to be provided with mounts, and when you said: "I can find no mounts for you," they turned back, while their eyes overflowing with tears of grief that they could not find anything to spend (for Jihad). 9:92

Why were they desperate to go to the front-line to kill and send the kuffar to hell? Because the Rasul s.a.w said

"Any Muslim who kills a kaafir, that Muslim will never be in the hell fire with the kaafir, that kaafir will take your place in the hell fire"

So these Sahabahs were crying, because they missed out on an opportunity to send the kuffar to the hell fire
You can’t compare the Ummah of Muhammad s.a.w. to the Ummah of Musa (as)
When Musa (as) said to the Jew let’s go and fight Jihad, the Jews said
--"You and your Lord go and fight, we will wait for you here"

The Sahabahs didn't say this; they said "If you command us to go to the deepest part of the ocean or climb the highest mountain, we will obey you"

You [true believers in Islamic Monotheism, and real followers of Prophet Muhammad and his Sunnah (legal ways, etc.)] are the best of peoples ever raised up for mankind; you enjoin Al-Ma'ruf (i.e. Islamic Monotheism and all that Islam has ordained) and forbid Al-Munkar (polytheism, disbelief and all that Islam has forbidden), and you believe in Allah. 3:110

Because we are the best Ummah, we didn't say what the Jews said to Musa (as)

8. Money
--you need money to buy your plane ticket to fly to the battlefield

9. Weaponry
--the Rasul s.a.w said "Verily your strength is in your firepower

10: Obedience
--you have to obey your Amir

11. Ikhlas (pure intentions)

O you who believe! Obey Allah and obey the Messenger (Muhammad ), and those of you (Muslims) who are in authority. (And) if you differ in anything amongst yourselves, refer it to Allah and His Messenger (), if you believe in Allah and in the Last Day. That is better and more suitable for final determination. 4:59

You have to fight to make Allah’s Word the Highest

If you fight for asabiyya, than you will die for nothing:--it’s as if you are committing suicide
--if you want to die for something, you have to die for Allah swt

12. Unity
And obey Allah and His Messenger, and do not dispute (with one another) lest you lose courage and your strength depart, and be patient. Surely, Allah is with those who are As-Sabirin (the patient ones, etc.). 8:46

13. Sabr
--when you’re on the battlefield, sometimes the sun is too hot; weather is too cold. ----the reality of Jihad is very harsh;
--you need SABR in order for you to survive on the battlefield

And when they advanced to meet Jalut (Goliath) and his forces, they invoked: "Our Lord! Pour forth on us patience and make us victorious over the disbelieving people." 2:250

Abu Moosaa al-Ash’ari (RA) said, “A man came to the Prophet (SAW) and asked, ‘A man fights for war booty, another fights for fame and a third fights for showing-off; which of them fights in Allah’s cause?’ The Prophet (SAW) said, ‘He who fights to make Allah’s word (i.e. Islam) be superior is fighting in Allah’s cause.’” [Saheeh ul-Bukhaari]

Allah taught you a dua to make while on the battlefield "Our Lord, Pour down on us sabr, and set down our feet and make us victorious over the disbelieving people”

14. Tawakkul [ relying on Allah (swt) alone ]

Those (i.e. believers) unto whom the people (hypocrites) said, "Verily, the people (pagans) have gathered against you (a great army), therefore, fear them." But it (only) increased them in Faith, and they said: "Allah (Alone) is Sufficient for us, and He is the Best Disposer of affairs (for us)." 3:173

At the battle of Uhud, the Munafiqun said the Muslims "A huge army is going to fight you so fear them" Allah spoke about this incident in Surah 3:173

15. Nusrah
--you can’t use Nusrah to REPLACE Jihad
The Ansar gave the Prophet’s uncle their word to protect the Rasul s.a.w.
--at the battle of Badr, they went with the Rasul s.a.w. even though this wasn't intheir treaty.
--the Ansar provided the Nusrah (Help) to the Rasul s.a.w.
The women of Medina took off their rings, bangles and their gold
--then they gave it to Bilal to give to the Rasul s.a.w. for the expedition

The Ansar are those who provided the Nusrah (Help)
--it is impossible to be successful without the help of the local population

The Kuffar sent men to Algeria and they raped women and killed children and said
--"We are the Mujahideen;” they even made documentaries about it.
--Now, the Jihad in Algeria has been lost, because the local population turned away
--they didn’t give them the Nusrah

No one likes those who kill women and children
No one like a pedophile or those who harm women and children
So the population withheld their Help from the Mujahideen in Algeria
--because of the kuffar spreading lies

Even the Rasul s.a.w. needed Nusrah: did he dig the ditch by himself?
--or did he go to the battle of Badr by himself?
--No, he needed Nusrah

O you who believe! If you help (in the cause of) Allah, He will help you, and make your foothold firm. 47:7

You need Nusrah to wage Jihad, but you can’t use Nusrah to REPLACE Jihad

16. Bravery
--if you are wimp, you'll run from the battlefield, which is one of the 7 major sins

Robbing the orphan
Slandering a pious Muslimah
Running from battlefield

Stay away from the seven destroyers." They said: O Messenger of Allah and what are they? He said: "Associating with Allah in worship, sorcery, the taking of a life which Allah has sanctified except rightfully, consuming interest, consuming the property of an orphan, fleeing on the day of intense battle and slandering innocent, unknowing, believing women." Muslim & Bukhari

17. Dhikr
--when you get killed on the battlefield, you can’t lose
--you either get Shuhadah or victory
--give khutbah
--take a scholar w/ you to battlefield
--remind them that this is fe sabil illah (not democracy, etc)
--when you are taking the Mujahideen to the battlefield, you need a scholar:
--to give a strong khutbah to the Mujahideen
--in the Khutbah, the scholar has to remind them to purify their intentions
--remind them from Hadith: their first drop of blood saves them from Hellfire
--he has to remind them of the favors on the Shaheed
--the speech has to be at least 10-15 minutes

The Prophet s.a.w. said "The one who fight to make La Ilaha illah Allah the Highest, he is the Mujahid"

And remind (by preaching the Qur'an, O Muhammad ) for verily, the reminding profits the believers. 51:55

18. Brotherhood
--we don’t want any asabiyya on the battlefield

“A martyr has six bounties: He will be forgiven with the first drop of his blood that is spilt; He will see his place in Paradise (at the time of death); He will be saved from the ‘Great Horror’ (on the Day of Judgment): A Crown of Dignity will be placed on his head, which contains many corundum’s, each one being more precious than this life and all that it contains; He will have seventy two Women of Paradise; And, he will be allowed to intercede for seventy of his family members (who would have otherwise gone to hell).” (Tirmidhi & Ibn Maajah)

It was reported in the Hadeeth of al-Miqdaam ibn Ma’di Karb that the Prophet (pbuh) said: “The martyr (shaheed) has seven blessings from Allaah: he is forgiven from the moment his blood is first shed; he will be shown his place in Paradise; he will be spared the trial of the grave; and he will be secure on the Day of the Greatest Terror (the Day of Judgment);

The Rasul s.a.w. said "Give it up because it stinks (Asabiyya)"
--Muntina is the word for “stinks”
In the Arabian Peninsula, you have different types of tribes:
--so the Rasool (saws) sent people to battle based on their similar regions
--to be familiar w/ your own language, how to do things,
--to minimize mistakes on the battlefield, to minimize friendly-fire
--just different accents can cause accidents
--the mujahideen were put together w/ people of their own region
--sometimes the Jihad goes into the night, so you need to fight with
--the people who you are familiar with

A man came to the Prophet and asked, "A man fights for war booty; another fights for fame and a third fights for showing off; which of them fights in Allah's Cause?" The Prophet said, "He who fights that Allah's Word (i.e. Islam) should be superior, fights in Allah's Cause." Volume 4, Book 52, Number 65: Bukhari
