-67- Prophet Suleiman and the Ant

Prophet Suleiman and the Ant
by Shaikh Abdullah Faisal

(evening dars: 6.7.11)

"And put your hand into your bosom, it will come forth white without hurt. (These are) among the nine signs (you will take) to Fir'aun (Pharaoh) and his people, verily they are a people who are the Fâsiqûn (rebellious, disobedient to Allâh). Surah Al-Naml 27:12

Nine signs given to Pharaoh
--he received 9 signs to bring him to the truth but he was rebellious
--Christians say there were 10 signs but there were only 9
--all of these signs were miracles but
--miracles are not no guarantee someone will take their Shahadah

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "The best (Jihad) is (to speak) a word of truth to an oppressive ruler." Sunan of Abu-Dawood, Hadith 2040

Nine signs given to Musa to bring to Pharaoh were all miracles

"And throw down your stick!" But when he saw it moving as if it were a snake, he turned in flight, and did not look back. (It was said): "O Mûsa (Moses)! Fear not, verily! the Messengers fear not in front of Me. (Surah Al-Naml 27:10)

1. Allah blessed Musa with the rod

--when the rod was thrown down in front of the Pharaoh,
--it became a large snake and ate the snakes of the magicians:
--and the magicians believed!
--once their snakes were eaten up, they believed!
--the greatest jihad is to speak the truth in front of a tyrannical ruler

2. The radiant hand
3. The severe drought affecting Egypt
4. The shortened cups
5. Human and animal pandemics

So We sent on them: the flood, the locusts, the lice, the frogs, and the blood: (as a succession of) manifest signs, yet they remained arrogant, and they were of those people who were Mujrimûn (criminals, polytheists sinners). SURAH AL-ARAF 7:133

6. Locusts
7. Lice
8. Frogs (a pandemic)
9. River Nile became blood so the Pharaoh couldn't cross over

THE PHARAOH WAS REBELLIOUS AND IGNORED ALL THESE SIGNS ~
HE TRIED TO TAKE SHAHDAH IN THE RED SEA ~ BUT ALLAH TALA
SHOVED HIS SHAHADAH BACK IN HIS FACE!

--he was being an opportunist
--he knew the truth of what Musa said but rejected it due to pride and arrogance

And they belied them (those Ayât) wrongfully and arrogantly, though their ownselves were convinced thereof [i.e. those (Ayât) are from Allâh, and Mûsa (Moses) is the Messenger of Allâh in truth, but they disliked to obey Mûsa (Moses), and hated to believe in his Message of Monotheism]. So see what was the end of the Mufsidûn (disbelievers, disobedient to Allâh, evil-doers, liars SURAH NAML 27:14

And indeed We gave knowledge to Dawûd (David) and Sulaimân (Solomon), and they both said: "All the praises and thanks are to Allâh, Who has preferred us above many of His believing slaves!" SURAH AL-NAML 27:15

Allah's knowledge
--when He blesses you w/ knowledge, use it and use it wisely
--don't act like you know everything
--all the angels in heaven the birds in the air and the ant in his hole:
--they all seek forgiveness for a scholar who’s sincere
--when a sincere scholar passes away, all the animals and angels ask Allah
--for forgiveness for the scholars
--thank Allah for giving you knowledge

The Messenger of Allah said, "The world, with all that it contains, is accursed except for dhikr (the remembrance of Allah) that which pleases Allah; and the religious scholars and seekers of knowledge.'' [At-Tirmidhi]

“The scholars are the inheritors of the prophets.” [Tirmidhi, Abu Dawud, Nasa’i, Ibn Maja, Ahmad, Ibn Hibban, and others]

And Sulaimân (Solomon) inherited (the knowledge of) Dawûd (David). He said: "O mankind! We have been taught the language of birds, and on us have been bestowed all things. This, verily, is an evident grace (from Allâh)." SURAH AL-NAML 27:16

Suleiman inherited from David (the knowledge of David, according to the translators)
--the Shiites use this to debunk the Sunnis
--Fadak was a fertile oasis owned by the Rasool (saws)
--his wife, Fatima wanted to inherit it
--but after he died, Abu Bakr didn't give it to her
--they don't leave behind dunya to be inherited
--Shiites said he oppressed Fatima and used this ayah to convert many to Shiasim
--the truth is David was poor and Suleiman was rich so he inherited
--knowledge, ilm and hikmah

Shiites lie about the meanings in the Qur'an [they put a spin on the ayahs]
--they led astray 1000s of Sunnis astray
--they lie and they lie on Allah tala

Shiite lie: Hafsah and Aisha poisoned the Rasool (saws)
--they discuss who had an affair, which had a bastard child
--they tried to say Muawaiya’s wife was Christian and she had an affair
--they slander your name, you need to run and hide
--they slander Allah!

“Allah often lies and does mistakes” [Usool-al-Kafi, page 328, Yacoob Kulayni, Vol. 1]

All the Imams are infallible just like the prophets. The Shia derives their religion from their immaculate (infallible) Imams" (Usool al Kafi, p. 22)

Prophet Mohammad's wives, Aisha and Hafsah, are accused of poisoning Prophet Mohammad. (Jila-ul-Ayoun, p. 118)

[Ayatollah Khomeini, Tahrirolvasyleh, 4TH Volume - Darol Elm, Gom, Iran, 1990 from Khomeini's book, "Tahrirolvasyleh"] "A man can have sex with animals such as sheep, cows, camels and so on. However he should kill the animal after he has his orgasm. He should not sell the meat to the people in his own village, however selling the meat to the next door village should be fine."

All in the heavens and earth and the fish in the depth of the water seek forgiveness for the scholar, and the superiority of the scholar over the worshipper is like the superiority of the full moon at night over the rest of the stars. Verily the scholars are the heirs to the Prophets. Verily, the Prophets did not bequeath deenars or dirhams. All they left behind was knowledge, so whoever takes it, has indeed acquired a huge fortune. [Al-Musnad, 5/196] Also related by Aboo Daawood, 3/317; at-Tirmidhi 5/49; Ibn Maajah 1/81, ad-Daarimee, 1/98 and ibn Hibbaan, 1/152 (al-Ihsaan)

Suleiman inherited knowledge and hikmah
--all his jinn, man and birds were arranged in battle order
--he was also able to communicate w/ the animals
--Naml :17 - he took birds to the battlefield

And there were gathered before Sulaimân (Solomon) his hosts of jinn and men, and birds, and they all were set in battle order (marching forward). SURAH AL-NAML 27:17

--horses were not a part of his battle plan because
--they are used to demolish empires and establish them
--but he loved horses so much he forgot to pray one day

Prophet Suleiman (as) loved horses so much, he forgot to pray salatul ‘Asr because he played with them and he took an oath that he will never play with them anymore + that’s why Allah replaced the horses with an army of Jinns [Abu Dawud]

--the horses were replaced w/ the Jinn
--the previous prophets did jihad

We have 2 Hizb: party of Allah and part of Shaitan
--hizbushaytaan and hizbullah
--the only difference between the previous jihad and us is that the booty is HALAL for us

The ant and Suleiman

Till, when they came to the valley of the ants, one of the ants said: "O ants! Enter your dwellings, lest Sulaimân (Solomon) and his hosts should crush you, while they perceive not." SURAH NAML 27:18

--the ants heard Suleiman's men coming so they cried and the ants said,
--“run, so we’re not crushed”

LESSONS:
1) Animals are able to recognize people
2) Animals have mercy and compassion [the ant cried out to save the other ants]
3) Animals are Muslims and good ones are concerned about other Muslims
4) The ant was female /a mother
5) Commander in Chief (Suleiman) take the battle to the kuffar

And (remember) when you (Muhammad SAW) left your household in the morning to post the believers at their stations for the battle (of Uhud). And Allâh is All-Hearer, All-Knower. (SURAH IMRAN 3:121)

6) Animals have a language they speak and communicate between themselves

So he [Sulaimân] smiled, amused at her speech and said: "My Lord! Grant me the power and ability that I may be grateful for Your Favours which You have bestowed on me and on my parents, and that I may do righteous good deeds that will please You, and admit me by Your Mercy among Your righteous slaves." SURAH AL-NAML 27:19

Suleiman was smiled and was impressed w/ the brotherhood and sisterhood
--in the animal kingdom
--he smiled [tabassum] when he saw this
--he prayed that he would do righteous good deeds
--he smiled because he understood the animals' languages
--Knowledge brings you happiness
--ignorance bring you sadness and low self esteem
--he said, “I want to be thankful to you, bless me and my parents”

27:19

The Prophet's practiced what they preached: took the battle TO the kuffar
--did you see George Bush go fight? No, he did not

And (remember) when you (Muhammad SAW) left your household in the morning to post the believers at their stations for the battle (of Uhud). And Allâh is All-Hearer, All-Knower. (SURAH IMRAN 3:121)

Suleiman smiled
--he was impressed with the brotherhood of the animal kingdom
--he was happy w/ the knowledge Allah gave him

Ignorant - you can't even get a job to feed your family
Knowledge makes you happy like nothing else

Suleiman
– prayed, ‘give me the power and ability to be grateful to your favors’
--when you have taqwah and Allah blesses you w/ barakah, you say ALHUMDULILLAH
--when you don't say alhumdulillah, you are ungrateful to your Lord
--Suleiman wasn't proud or ostentatious

More lessons

--when you have taqwah, you thank Allah tala
--not only did he pray to Allah tala for himself but also his father inside the grave [David]
--as Muslims, leave behind offspring’s to pray for you inside the grave
--you need your deeds and a righteous son / daughter to pray for you

"Among the actions and good deeds for which a believer will continue to receive reward after his death are knowledge which he taught and spread, a good son whom he left behind, or a copy of the Qur'an which he left as a legacy, or a mosque he built, or a house which he built for the traveler, or a stream which he caused to flow, or a sadaqa which he gave from his property when he was alive and well, for which he will continue to receive reward after his death." (Ibn Majah and Baihaqi)

The 4 things Suleiman prayed for:

1. to be thankful to you, Lord
2. Bless my father, David (even in the grave)
--"kaafir" means ungrateful

Verily, spendthrifts are brothers of the Shayatîn (devils), and the Shaitân (Devil Satan) is ever ungrateful to his Lord. (SURAH AL-ISRA 17:27)

3. Allow me to use the barakah you gave me for righteous good deeds
--your fingers are barakah - how are you using it on Paltalk - - to gossip?

4. Allah tala to put him among righteous people
--it is haraam to bury a Muslim in the grave of the kufaar
--you insult him and his family if you do
It is narrated on the authority of Jabir that he heard the (Holy Prophet) say: A Muslim is he from whose hand and tongue the Muslim's are safe. (Muslim)

MAKE ME AMONG YOUR SERVANTS WHO ARE THE RIGHTEOUS PEOPLE and he asked for this on Day of Judgment

--you will come and cry out - see Surah 25:28 - I wish I didn't so and so for my friend

"Ah! Woe to me! Would that I had never taken so-and-so as a Khalil (an intimate friend)! (SURAH AL-FURQAN 25:28)

He inspected the birds, and said: "What is the matter that I see not the hoopoe? Or is he among the absentees? (SURAH AL-NAML 27:20)

LESSONS
--A good army general inspects his army
--even when the army is a bird

"I will surely punish him with a severe torment, or slaughter him, unless he brings me a clear reason." (SURAH AL-NAML 27:21)

--but his bird, the “hoophood” was gone and he planned to punish him
--he thought to slaughter the bird if he didn't have a good excuse
--he didn't like anyone who abandoned the battlefield
--Suleiman was VERY serious about jihad

Allah said the bird wasn't even late for a long time
--but Suleiman took punctuality as a serious matter
--the ummah today are fired daily because they are not punctual

And he sought among the birds and said: How is it that I see not the hoopoe, or is he among the absent? (20) I verily will punish him with hard punishment or I verily will slay him, or he verily shall bring me a plain excuse. (21) Surah an Naml

But the hoopoe stayed not long, he (came up and) said: "I have grasped (the knowledge of a thing) which you have not grasped and I have come to you from Saba' (Sheba) with true news. (SURAH AL-NAML 27:22)

The absentee has no deputy
--But the bird brought back a valid reason
--The bird brought back news from Sheba (Yemen)
--“don't slaughter me because I know what you don't”
--birds fly from one continent to another
--so he flew from Jerusalem to Yemen

The news the bird brought
--he went to Sheba / Saba and brought back news from there
--"I am bringing you is the haqq because I don't tell lies"
--the bird used the word yaqeen (certainty)

"I found a woman ruling over them", she has been given all things that could be possessed by any ruler of the earth, and she has a great throne. (SURAH AL-NAML 27:23)

The bird told Suleiman about the queen, Bilqis
--she was the commander of a great many people
--and she was a kaafir worshipping the sun instead of Allah tala

Islam is here to take you away from the servitude of the creation

LESSONS:

--Islam is here to take you away from the servitude of the creation
--to the freedom of the Creator
--Islam is here to take you away from the servitude of the creation
--Your liberation is in monotheism
--Your captivity is in polytheism
--Islam takes you away from the now-ness of the dunya to the vastness of the Hereafter
--People of Sheba were not male chauvinists: they allowed a woman to rule

Can a woman rule in Islam?
1. Yes, a government Minister (ie Finance)
2. Yes, a country
3. She can be anything but the Caliph
BUT: the correct opinion is allowed to be a government minister and nothing more
--not rule a country or be caliph

LESSONS
--the bird said she was given all things that could be possessed by a ruler
--so the lesson is that kaafir rulers aim to impress
--Bilqis was 'dunyafied'
**if you don't have worldly encumbrances, you don't fit the right image of a ruler

Umar called all his governors for a meeting
--but when Mu’awiyah came, he was dressed in the fanciest clothes
--Mu’awiyah said,
--“I rule Assyria and I will not get respect of my people if I don't dress accordingly
--Umar kept quiet

SHAH OF IRAN HAD A GOLD TOILET –
HE DOESN'T WANT TO SIT ON ANYTHING LOWER THAN GOAL

"I found her and her people worshipping the sun instead of Allâh, and Shaitân (Satan) has made their deeds fair-seeming to them, and has barred them from (Allâh's) Way, so they have no guidance," (SURAH AL-NAML 27:24)

The bird complained that Bilqis and her people were worshipping the sun, not Allah tala

LESSON
--even the birds acknowledge shaitan

LESSONS of Ayah :24

--people who worship the sun, moon and stars still have wealth

"I found her and her people worshipping the sun instead of Allâh, and Shaitân (Satan) has made their deeds fair-seeming to them, and has barred them from (Allâh's) Way, so they have no guidance," (SURAH AL-NAML 27:24)

--even Chinese atheists are given wealth
--the Baraka of Islam is given only to those He loves you
--every animal understands tawheed
--every animal is a Muslim

Whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is on the earth glorifies Allâh. And He is the All-Mighty, the All-Wise. (SURAH AS-SAFF 61:1)

The bird told that Queen Bilqis was worshipping the sun instead of Allah tala
--animals are aware of the web of the Satan

[As Shaitân has barred them from Allâh's Way] so they do not worship (prostrate themselves before) Allâh, Who brings to light what is hidden in the heavens and the earth, and knows what you conceal and what you reveal. (SURAH AL-NAML 27:25)

--the shaitan barred them from Allah's way
--the bird said that none has the right to be worshipped but HIM
--Suleiman didn’t interrupt [showed the superiority of a prophet]

And verily, for you (O Muhammad SAW) will be an endless reward. (3) And verily, you (O Muhammad SAW) are on an exalted (standard of) character. (SURAH AL-QALAM 68:4)

The best subject is tafseer is you understand it

[Sulaimân (Solomon)] said: "We shall see whether you speak the truth or you are (one) of the liars (SURAH AL-NAML 27:27)

Suleiman wanted to test what the bird said
--he wasn't impulsive or believing in gossip

O you who believe! If a Fasiq (liar — evil person) comes to you with any news, verify it, lest you should harm people in ignorance, and afterward you become regretful for what you have done. (SURAH AL-HUJRAAT 49:6)

--you can't believe the news you read

"Go you with this letter of mine, and deliver it to them, then draw back from them, and see what (answer) they return." (SURAH AL-NAML 27:28)

She said: "O chiefs! Verily! Here is delivered to me a noble letter, (SURAH AL-NAML 27:29)

Suleiman sent Bilqis a letter asking her to accept Allah tala and Islam
--and stop worshipping the sun

"Verily, It is from Sulaimân (Solomon), and verily, It (reads): In the Name of Allâh, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful (SURAH AL-NAML 27:30)

She saw the words "Bismillah al-Rahman al-Rahim" on the letter
--so she knew it was a serious and sincere letter and written by someone noble
--She didn't find any grammatical errors in the letter
--She knew she and Suleiman had the same background
