Alif-Lâm-Mîm [These letters are one of the miracles of the Qur'ân, and none but Allâh (Alone) knows their meanings.] (1) These are Verses of the Wise Book (the Qur'ân).(SURAH LUQMAN 31:1-2)

A guide and a mercy for the Muhsinûn (good-doers). (SURAH LUQMAN 31:3)

There are three types of believers: -- Muslimeen, Mu'mineen, Muhsineen.
-- Muslimeen are those who have embraced Islam :
-- but they may have big weaknesses of character, like gambling or drinking alcohol.
-- they are still Muslims (even though they commit major sins)
-- [we are not Khawarijj]
-- if Allah wants, He will forgive you for your sins
-- or punish you in the hell-fire.
-- [but you will not remain there forever]
-- Mu'mineen stay away from the major sins.
-- Muhsineen are careful about their deen, they even stay away from the makrooh.
-- every Mu'min is a Muslim.,

The Prophet (saw) said: "there is no way for one while he is drinking alcohol to be Mu’min, or when he is stealing to be Mu’min, or when he is committing zina to be Mu’min." [Bukhari and Muslim]

-- Allah refers to Himself as Al Mu'min, As He is The One Who Gives Faith
-- the Muhsineen are the ones who spend in the way of Allah,
-- giving Sadaqah .[They are kind hearted]
-- The Quran is a Mercy to mankind from Allah
-- Humanity was in the darkness of jaahiliyyah (ignorance)

Read! In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (all that exists), (1) He has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood) (2) Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, (3) Who has taught (the writing) by the pen. (4) He has taught man that which he knew not. (5) (SURAH AL-ALAQ 96:1-5)

The Prophet Muhammad used to go to the Cave of Hira;
-- and contemplate on how to solve the problems of society;
-- then the Quran was revealed.
-- When a person is possessed by a jinn : the Quran is used to cure that person

A Mu'min does not eliminate, nor curse, nor is he a doer of filthy actions, nor is he an impudent fellow. (Tirmidhi)

-- A chief was bitten by a scorpion, nearing death.
-- A Sahabah recited Quran over him, and he was cured.
-- They were so happy they gave him 30 sheep
-- The Quran is a Mercy to mankind, it is noor (light) taking one out of jaahiliyyah

The Prophet (saw) said: "there is no way for one while he is drinking alcohol to be Mu’min, or when he is stealing to be Mu’min, or when he is committing zina to be Mu’min." [Bukhari and Muslim]

He it is Who sent among the unlettered ones a Messenger (Muhammad SAW) from among themselves, reciting to them His Verses, purifying them (from the filth of disbelief and polytheism), and teaching them the Book (this Qur'ân,

-- The Quran is a Mercy to mankind, because it purifies you from evil character.

Islâmic laws and Islâmic jurisprudence) and Al-Hikmah (As-Sunnah: legal ways, orders, acts of worship, of Prophet Muhammad SAW). And verily, they had been before in manifest error; (Al-Jumua 62:2)

-- The Sahabahs; before the Quran : They used to eat animals that died by themselves, they used to deal with riba (interest) , prostitution, worshipping 360 idols, making tawaf of the Kaaba while naked, and burying their daughters alive!

You [true believers in Islâmic Monotheism, and real followers of Prophet Muhammad SAW and his Sunnah] are the best of peoples ever raised up for mankind... (SURAH IMRAN 3:110)

-- Narration of Umar burying his daughter alive, and she wiped some dust from his beard. Yet he still buried her.
-- The Quran turns the worst of men to the best of men.

On one occasion, a few companions saw Umar ibn al-Khattab (Allah be pleased with him) laughing and then crying; one after the other. They asked what reason made him laugh then cry. He said, "I remember that in the days of Jaahiliyyah, I used to have this idol made of dates One day, I became so hungry that I ate it. And then, I cried when I remembered digging a hole and burying my daughter alive. While I was putting her in, she reached up and brushed dirt from my beard – no tareej

The Quran is a Mercy to mankind
-- it reforms the society
-- it turns the worst of men into the best of men
-- The Sahabahs before the Quran was revealed were the worst of mankind.
-- The Quran transformed them.
-- Umar buried his daughter alive. with no mercy.
-- After accepting Islam, his heart was filled with mercy
-- He would never go to his bed without making sure
-- that every Muslim had something to eat.
-- your heart can be transformed. The word heart Qalb:
-- is from yuqalb meaning something which turns

The Prophet saw : "Verily, I was sent for no other reason, except to perfect the noble traits of character'' (Muwatta Imam Malik)

Umar read Surah Ta- Ha, and it changed his heart

Ta - Ha [These letters are one of the miracles of the Qur'ân, and none but Allâh (Alone) knows their meanings.] (1) We have not sent down the Qur'ân unto you (O Muhammad SAW) to cause you distress, (2) But only as a Reminder to those who fear (Allâh). (3) A revelation from Him (Allâh) Who has created the earth and high heavens. (4) The Most Gracious (Allâh) rose over (Istawâ) the (Mighty) Throne (in a manner that suits His Majesty). (SURAH TAHA 20:1-5)

The prophet made a dua:
-- O ALLAH help Islam with either Abu Jahl or Umar ibn al Khattab
-- ALLAH answered the dua, and Umar became a Muslim , ALLAH chose Umar

The Muslims used to be in hiding,
-- Umar had to ask where Muhammad was
-- Umar: are we not on the haqq and they are on the bautil
-- isn’t ours the true religion?
-- The Rasul said : yes
-- Umar said : then why are we hiding?
-- The Rasul agreed, and the Muslims went out
-- Hamza led one group while Umar led the other group
-- this shows that One man is able to turn things around
-- by him embracing Islam, he told the Rasul
-- to pray in the open for the people to see

The Prophet (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) has said, 'The Qur'an will either testify in your favour or against you.' [Muslim]

Whenever someone embraces Islam and practices the Quran

-- they have a beautiful character
-- if you are still doing sins, when you embraced Islam,
-- the Quran was not a mercy for you
-- If you did not benefit at all from embracing Islam, you are a cursed human being

Those who perform As-Salât (Iqamat-as-Salât) and give Zakât and they have faith in the Hereafter with certainty. (SURAH LUQMAN 31:4)

The Prophet (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) has said, 'The Qur'an will either testify in your favour or against you.' [Muslim]

If your salah was not intact,
-- ALLAH will not bother to look at your other acts of ibadah
-- some people fast in Ramadan, but do not pray salah
-- but this is pointless

If your salah was not intact,
-- ALLAH will not bother to look at your other acts of ibadah

-- So how can you fast in Ramadan, but abandon salah?
-- Salah is the most important act of ibadah

It was narrated that Abdullah bin Masood (RA) said: I asked Allah's Messenger (PBUH), "Which action is most beloved to Allah?" He said, "Establishing prayer on time, honouring one's parents and Jihad in the cause of Allah." (Hadith No. 612, Book of the Times, Sunan An-Nasa'i, Vol. 1).

But if they repent, perform As-Salât (Iqâmat-as-Salât) and give Zakât, then they are your brethren in religion. (In this way) We explain the Ayât (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) in detail for a people who know. (SURAH TAWBA 9:11)

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A NON-PRACTICING MUSLIMS

-- Who told you there’s a thing called a non-practicing Muslim?
-- the time of the Rasul. even the hypocrites used to establish the salah

Jibril would inform the Rasul of the hypocrites names
-- Umar was happy and wanted permission to cut off their heads
-- The Rasul said : do you want the people to think
-- that Muhammad is killing his own companions?
-- This shows the wisdom of the Rasul , as he did not go on a killing spree

ALLAH said the Quran is al kitab and the Sunnah is Hikmah (wisdom)

Shall we not kill this evil person (i.e. Abdullah bin Ubai bin Salul) ?" The Prophet) said, "(No), lest the people should say that Muhammad used to kill his companions." Bukhari: Volume 006, Book 060, Hadith Number 428.

On many occasions Umar was right when he advised the prophet

-- but on this occasion he was not right
-- killing the hypocrites at that time would have hindered the dawah
-- You’re not allowed to pray janaza over a man who did not establish the salah
-- it is haraam to pray janaza over the munafiqh

And never (O Muhammad SAW) pray (funeral prayer) for any of them (hypocrites) who dies, nor stand at his grave. Certainly they disbelieved in Allâh and His Messenger, and died while they were Fâsiqûn (rebellious, - disobedient to Allâh and His Messenger SAW). (SURAH TAWBA 9:84)

'Abdullaah ibn Shaqeeq al-'Aqeelee, one of the Noble Followers, stated: "The Companions of the Prophet (sal-Allaahu 'alayhe wa sallam) did not consider the abandonment of any act as kufr except the [abandonment of] prayer." -MUSLIM-

Those who perform As-Salât (Iqamat-as-Salât) and give Zakât and they have faith in the Hereafter with certainty. (SURAH LUQMAN 31:4)

-- Allah said the believers establish the prayers
-- and pay the zakah, and they are sure about the hereafter
-- The prayer is right of Allah over you. Zakah is the right of Creation over you.

When Abu Bakr became caliph : some people established salah, but they said they would not pay zakat; it is natural instinct to love money; when you are told to give your hard earned money away, it is hard for some people to give their money to someone who is poor; you get up every morning to go to work, yet a man who does not work is poor; Abu Bakr fought those who did not pay zakat; those who were killed were buried with the kuffar; the ones who were not killed, Abu Bakr forgave them, but didn’t trust them, and would not take them to the front line; when Umar took over as caliph, he overruled the decision of Abu Bakr, taking them to the battle field, and they did not betray Umar, or apostate.

Do not kill every apostate, as some can be reformed.
--the only apostate you kill, is the one who persist in kufr
--the Battle of Nahruwaan
--you kill the apostate who is persistent in his kufr.

SHAIKH IN NIGERIA
-- the maids looked after him, they took care of all his stuff
-- Shaikh talked to one of the maids, she took Shahadah in two days !

Ali ra sent ibn Abbas ra to deal with the Khawarijj
-- 4000 of them came back to the Aqeeda of ASWJ
-- Ali ra never made takfir on Khawarij,
-- he called them his brothers in faith who have deviated
-- we do not kill the apostates left and right,
-- we give them a chance to return to the Deen
-- The Khawarij were serious deviants but not Kuffar,
-- Ali ra sent ibn Abbas to reform the Khawarij
-- and 4000 came back to the correct Aqeeda
-- even at the time of Rasulallah saws, apostates were given a chance to be reformed

Those who perform As-Salât (Iqamat-as-Salât) and give Zakât and they have faith in the Hereafter with certainty. (4) Such are on guidance from their Lord, and such are the successful. (SURAH LUQMAN 31:4-5)

3 things that shows you are guided

1) Aqeeda, Imam Abu Hanifa said the greatest jurisprudence (Fiqh al Akbar) is the Tawheed of ALLAH SWT

2) Fiqh

3) Manhaj

We must know where ALLAH SWT is, if Rasulallah saws made his journey of Isra wal Mi'raj with body and soul or just soul alone, if you believe that Rasulallah saws can make du'a for you from his grave, if democracy is the right system...etc...if you deviate in these matters, you are not on the right path

-- Manhaj: the methodology to establish the Islamic State
-- if you believe that to dismantle the Shariah is minor kufr,
-- you are not on the right Aqeeda

To be on the Siraat al-Mustaqeen, you Aqeeda, you Fiqh, and you Manhaj must be correct
