Bismillah...

WHAT IS THE HUMAN SOUL?
- explanation by a scholar: ibn Qayyim,
“do you see the flame in the charcoal? that blue flame? the human soul is like that”

A modern day scholar would say : the human soul is like electricity; your laptop wont work without electricity; but a scholar who lived in the time of ibn qayyim , when there is no electricity , he would say : the blue flame that’s in the fire -- that is the human soul. Both explanations are accurate :: modern day scholar would use the example of electricity while the classical scholar would use the blue flame within the fire; both scholars are accurate with their explanation of the human soul, whether its a scholar from the salef us Saleh , or a scholar from today; some people approached the Rasul and asked him regarding the human soul

And they ask you (O Muhammad SAW) concerning the Rûh (the Spirit); Say: "The Rûh (the Spirit): it is one of the things, the knowledge of which is only with my Lord. And of knowledge, you (mankind) have been given only a little." (Al-Isra 17:85)

So what this ayah is saying: you will have a LITTLE knowledge about the human soul, but to understand the human soul in its totality is not possible; you will have SOME knowledge about the soul, but you will not have complete knowledge about the soul because the knowledge you have from ALLAH is only a little; what was created first the soul or the body? the scholars have asked themselves this question and debated upon this matter…the correct opinion: the body was created first, and the soul was created last

The Rasul said:
"Verily the creation of each one of you was brought together in your mother’s womb for 40 days in a seed” hadith # 4 of the 40 hadith

- so we were created in stages
- the first 40 days: seed
- the next 40 days: clot
- the third 40 days: lump of flesh
- then an Angel was sent to blow into the womb the Ruh
- some scholars use this hadith to say abortion is halal (Hanbali fiqh)
- because the soul was not blown into the woman until the third 40 days
- so the Hanbalis allow abortion up to 6 weeks
- the Hanbalis are correct -- if a Muslim girl was raped by a kaafir,
- you don’t expect her to have that baby
- also incest is rife among SOME Muslims
- you don’t expect a Muslim girl to give birth to a child
- if she was impregnated by her uncle, brother, father, or grandfather
- so the Hanbalis are correct:
-abortions are halal up to 6 weeks

"Verily the creation of each one of you was brought together in your mother’s womb for 40 days in a seed” hadith # 4 of the 40 hadith

If a Muslim girl was weak and committed zina, or she got married to a deviant (Shia, Qadiyani, goofi Sufi, etc), and she wants out of the marriage, but she got pregnant -- she was married to a kaafir and does not want to bring a bastard child into the world: she is allowed to have an abortion. Why? Because the bastard child is the child of the Satan

The first right that your child has over you, is for your child to be legitimate
The 2nd right is to give your child a Muslim name, the third is to circumcise (if male child)

Make assaults on them with your cavalry and your infantry, mutually share with them wealth and children (by tempting them to earn money by illegal ways usury, etc., or by committing illegal sexual intercourse, etc.), and make promises to them." But Satan promises them nothing but deceit. (Al-Isra 17:64)

- you’re not allowed to bastardize your child,
-because that child will not be able to lead the salah in the masjid
- if a Muslim girl was weak and committed zina, or she got married to a deviant
-(Shia, Qadiyani, Goofi Sufi, etc) and she wants out of the marriage, but she got pregnant -- she was married to a kaafir and does not want to bring a bastard child into the world :: she is allowed to have an abortion; no one is allowed to force her to give birth to that child; the scholars use hadith # 4 from the 40 hadith; if the mother aborts the baby before 6 weeks, you’re not allowed to say she KILLED anyone because the Ruh was not blown into the child, but it becomes MURDER if she aborts the baby after 6 weeks

The human soul is NOT eternal
- the only thing that is eternal is ALLAH SWT HIMSELF
- Now, the Holy Quran, is it eternal?
- the Holy Quran is eternal in heaven, not on earth
- because the Quran is Ilmullah -- the Knowledge of ALLAH
- when the Muslims die, the kuffar will burn every single copy of the Quran,
- the Quran will fall into oblivion: the Quran is not eternal on the earth

The Human soul was created
Has there not been over man a period of time, when he was nothing to be mentioned? (Al-Insan 76:1)

THE QURAN IS ETERNAL ABOVE THE 7 HEAVENS

- There is a difference between istighfar and taubah
- there is a difference between a nabi and a Rasul
- there is a difference between an arsh and a kursi
- There is a difference between Destiny and Pre Destination

Predestination cannot be changed (the coming Gog and Magog, etc)
-but Destiny can be changed: The Rasul said: nothing can change destiny except dua

"Nothing could change the Qadar except Du`a’." (Musnad Ahmad, Vol. 5, Hadith no. 277; Sunan At-Tirmidhi, Vol. 3, Hadith no. 139; and classified as Hasan (good) Hadith by Al-Abaani in Sahih Al-Jami` Hadith no. 7687)”

There is a difference between heaven and paradise
-Adam was in heaven not in paradise
-Muhammad SAW will be the first to enter paradise
-if you are traveling , and because you made a dua before you left home, ALLAH SWT wipes out the calamity that was waiting to befall you (car accident, lose your legs)

Allâh blots out what He wills and confirms (what He wills). And with Him is the Mother of the Book (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfûz) (Ra'd 13:39)

The soul was created: 76:1
-the other evidence: 39:62

Allâh is the Creator of all things, and He is the Wakîl (Trustee, Disposer of affairs, Guardian, etc.) over all things. (Az-Zumar 39:62)

Has there not been over man a period of time, when he was nothing to be mentioned? (Al-Insan 76:1)

THE FIVE CONNECTIONS BETWEEN BODY AND SOUL

1. WHEN YOU ARE IN YOUR MOTHER’S WOMB

- when you are in your mother’s womb,
- you are 100 percent dependant on your mother
- if your mother listens to a lot of Quran,
- you will be a wonderful child
- if you mother smokes cigs, and drinks alcohol
- then the child will be evil
- women who are deep into spirituality,
- which read Quran and do dhikr; the child will be a righteous child

2. WHEN YOU’RE BORN, THE MOTHER GAVE BIRTH AND THE UMBILICAL CORD IS CUT
-when you have a measurable amount of independence from your mother
-the womb of the mother is its comfort zone
-a woman in Mozambique gave birth in a tree
-her story touched the world so much
-so that the Americans gave her asylum in their country
-in 3rd world countries,
-they don’t have proper medical care for mothers who are giving birth
-many sisters are afraid to make Hijrah
-because they fear the lack of medical care when giving birth
-they are afraid to make Hijrah in India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh
-UK is their comfort zone because the medical care in free

3. WHEN YOU ARE SLEEPING
-sleep is the twin sister of death

It is He, Who takes your souls by night (when you are asleep), and has knowledge of all that you have done by day, then he raises (wakes) you up again that a term appointed (your life period) be fulfilled, then in the end unto Him will be your return. Then He will inform you what you used to do. (Al-An'am 6:60)

There is no guarantee that you will wake up from your sleep
- some researchers in the UK researched cot death
- they found that most babies die in their sleep because they sleep on their stomach
- so if you follow the Rasul, who said not to sleep on your stomach,
- the babies wont die in their sleep
- kaafir researchers came to this conclusion!
- if you don’t want your baby to die from cot death, obey Muhammad SAW

In Africa, the pandemic of AIDS.
Why? because many of the people are not circumcised
- if they follow the sunnah -- to get circumcised
- the pandemic of AIDS would go down

Christianity: Saul who used to persecute Christians, became a Christian, he changed his name to Paul and changed Christianity -- he introduced to them that they don’t have to get circumcised

FIVE THINGS ARE OF AL FITRA:
1. to be circumcised
2. to shave the hair
under your arm pits and private parts (at least every 40 days)
3. to cut the nails (finger and toe)
4. to grow the beard
5. clip the mustache

-in some hadith: to scrub between your toes when you perform wudu

On the authority of Abu Hurairah (radiAllaahu ‘anhu), the messenger of Allah (Sallallaahu ‘Alaihi wa Sallam) said: “There are five things from the fitrah: using metal (blade for removing the pubic hair), circumcision, trimming the mustache, plucking the armpit hair, and cutting the nails” [Bukhari, 5509]

4TH CONNECTION: WHEN YOU ARE INSIDE THE GRAVE (BARZAKH)

- you are not allowed to mix up the life of the grave with the life of dunya,
- as the Sufis and SHIAs do
- they believe the life of the grave is
- exactly the same as the life of the dunya
- they have the audacity to quote:

Think not of those who are killed in the Way of Allâh as dead. Nay, they are alive, with their Lord, and they have provision. (Aali Imran 3:169)

The Barelvis do the same, along with the Shia and Sufis

Sayyidina Miqdam ibn Ma’dikarib (RA) reported that Allah’s Messenge (SAW) said, “There are with Allah six blessings for the martyr. (1) He is forgiven with the first drop of blood. (2) He is shown his abode in paradise. (3) He is preserved from the torment of the grave and is safe from the great fear on the Day of Resurrection. (4) A crown of honour ingrained with pearl is placed on his head, which is better than the world and what it contains. (5) He is married to seventy-two maidens (huris) of paradise. His intercession for his seventy relatives is accepted.” [Tirmidhi 1669, Ahmed 12013, Ibn e Majah 2799]

(Sayyidina Abdullah Ibn Mas’ud (RA) was asked to explain the verse: Think not of those who were slain in Allah’s way as dead. Nay, they are alive. (3:169) He said, “Indeed we had asked about that and were informed that their souls are in green birds that go wherever they like in Paradise and return to the lamps suspended from the Throne. Your Lord looks at them out of familiarity and asks, ‘Do you desire anything more that I may give more?’ They say, ‘Our Lords what more may we seek while we are in Paradise moving about wherever we will?’ He then looks at them a second time, saying, ‘Do you desire Me to add something for you that I should give more?’ When they see that thay will not be spared (till they ask), they desire, ‘Return our souls to our bodies that we may go back to earth and be slain in Your path once more.." [Muslim 4651, Abu Dawud 2514, Tirmidhi 3022, Ibn e Majah 2800]

Whenever you compare the life of the barzakh to the life of the dunya,

-and assume that both life’s are exactly the same, you become a deviant
-most mistakes are made with Qiyaas (analogy)
-they compare the life of the dunya with the life of the graves,
-and end up worshipping the graves

When the kuffaar were killed at the Battle of Badr , Muhammad SAW yelled out to the dead bodies and said: "do you bear witness that ALLAH's Promise is true? I bear witness that It is true " And Umar said : oh Messenger of ALLAH, you are yelling to dead people, they cannot hear -- the Rasul replied : the dead can hear me, but they cannot answer me; if the dead can hear you but cant answer, who said you can go to them and pray to them ? they are incapacitated; when you lower the body in the grave, the dead man/woman can hear the footsteps of his friends and family at the janaza (hadith)

Narrated By Ibn 'Umar: The Prophet looked at the people of the well (the well in which the bodies of the pagans killed in the Battle of Badr were thrown) and said, "Have you found true what your Lord promised you?" Somebody said to him, "You are addressing dead people." He replied, "You do not hear better than they but they cannot reply." [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 2, Book 23, Hadith #452]

Narrated By Anas bin Malik: Allah's Apostle said, "When (Allah's) slave is put in his grave and his companions return and he even hears their footsteps"... [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 2, Book 23, Hadith #456]

The grave worshippers have the audacity to say that Muhammad SAW
- is still alive in the grave
- what about the ayat ?

Verily, you (O Muhammad SAW) will die and verily, they (too) will die. (Az-Zumar 39:30)

ALLAH SWT informed the Prophet:

-"YOU Muhammad Shall die, and all of your companions shall die with you "
-if ALLAH SWT says this, what makes you think we will believe
-that Muhammad SAW is alive in the grave?
-and can we believe that Abu Bakr buried Muhammad SAW when he was alive?
-No: this is the custom of the pagan Arabs
-we know that there is life in the grave
-because when you are inside the grave
-Munkar wa Nakir question you

We know that there is life in the grave because there is PUNISHMENT in the grave

Rivalry in worldly increase distracteth you (1) Until ye come to the graves. (2) Nay, but ye will come to know! (3) Nay, but ye will come to know! (4) Nay, would that ye knew (now) with a sure knowledge! (5) For ye will behold hell-fire. Aye, ye will behold it with sure vision. (7) Then, on that day, ye will be asked concerning pleasure. (8) (Surah 102)

The Sahabahs said : we used to doubt the punishment of the grave,

- but when ALLAH SWT revealed the surah 102 was revealed
- their evidence to prove Muhammad SAW is in the grave : 3 :169
- these hypocrites take this surah literally
- yet, when we say ALLAH SWT is above the arsh: they say
- DON’T TAKE THE QURAN LITERALLY
- what a hypocrite!

Think not of those who are killed in the Way of Allah as dead. Nay, they are alive, with their Lord, and they have provision. (Aali Imran 3:169)

- if they tell us not to take the Quran literally, why do they take 3:169 literally?
- when we quote 20:5, they tell us not to take it literally

The Most Beneficent (Allâh) Istawâ (rose over) the (Mighty) Throne (in a manner that suits His Majesty). (Ta-Ha 20:5)

- they preach one thing, and practice something else
- when the first suits them, they take it literally;
- when it doesn’t suit them , they say it’s metaphorical

5TH CONNECTION : WHEN YOU ARE IN JANNAH
- this is the most perfect connection between body and soul
- the connection between body and soul in the dunya is not perfect
- because you suffer pain and sorrow, old age
- it’s IMPERFECT
- some of you become impotent to the extent that your wife dumps you
- you become weak that you get white hair
- you become too old that you become senile
- you forget what you had for breakfast
- in paradise : you don’t have old age
- The Rasul told the old woman : there are no old people in paradise
- the woman went away sad....the Rasul went to her and said:
- now you’re old, but in paradise you’ll again be young, and forever young!
- and the woman went away happy

Hasan Basri (RA) says that an old woman came to Rasoolullah (SAW) and made a request, O’ Messenger of Allah make Dua that Allah grants me entrance into Jannah. Rasoolullah (SAW) replied, O’ Mother, an old woman cannot enter Jannah. That woman started crying and began to leave. Rasoolullah (SAW) said, Say to the woman that one will not enter in a state of old age, but Allah will make all the women of Jannah young virgins. Allah Ta’aala says, Lo! We have created them a (new) creation and made them virgins, lovers, equal in age. (Surah Waaqi’ah, 35-37). [Shamaa-il Tirmidhi, Ch35, Hadith #230]

Some of you are only 35 years old,
- and you already have white hair
- some of you have wrinkles
- some of you are impotent at 50, some of you, your teeth fall out
- this is all because the connection between
- body and soul in dunya is imperfect
- in paradise : there is no urination, defecation, menstruation , etc
- the best connection between body and soul is in paradise
- the most perfect of connections
- the soul can see, the soul can hear, the soul can travel
- the soul can speak
- the soul is a separate entity living within your body
- a state within a state

For example: you are living in the USA or Europe,
-and you establish a righteous community
-where there is no alcohol, prostitution, drugs, fornication
-the SOUL within your body is like a state within a state

It is the mother of all mysteries because the soul can hear and respond
- ALLAH SWT will say to the soul
- on the day of resurrection

But ah! thou soul at peace! (27) Return unto thy Lord, content in His good pleasure! (28) Enter thou among My bondmen! (29) Enter thou My Garden! (30) surah Fajr :27-30

NEXT CHAPTER: THE SOUL'S JOURNEY AFTER DEATH

“We went out with the prophet (pbuh) in order to participate in the funeral rites of a man from the Ansar. We arrived at the grave, but the inner chamber had not been prepared yet, so Allah’s messenger (pbuh) sat down facing the direction of the qiblah, and we sat around him so attentively that it was as if birds were sitting upon our heads.

Why was it so quiet? it was from the love, and respect to the Prophet SAW -- they were so respectful and so still it was if bird were sitting upon their heads

He had a stick in his hand with which he sketched upon the ground. Then he began looking alternatively to the heavens and to the earth, raising his gaze and then lowering it. Finally, he said two or three times, ‘Seek refuge in Allah from the torment of the grave.'

Then he said, ‘O Allah, verily I seek refuge in You from the torment of the grave.’ He repeated it three times, then he elaborated,

‘Verily, when the believing servant is leaving this world and entering the next, angels from the heavens descend to him – their faces white with brightness like the sun and carrying with them burial sheets and scents from Paradise.

They sit before him at a distance as far as they eye can see. Then the Angel of Death (upon whom be peace) comes to the person, sits at his head and says “O good soul [in another narration

'O confident soul'], come out to your Lords forgiveness and pleasure”‘

This is clear evidence that the soul can hear, respond and see!

“Thereupon, the soul flows out of the body like water flowing from the mouth of a water skin,

This is the meaning of the ayah : 79:1-2

By those (angels) who pull out (the souls of the disbelievers and the wicked) with great violence; By those (angels) who gently take out (the souls of the believers); (An-Nazi'at 79:1-2)

The Rasul said: when the Angel rips the souls of the kaafir out, it ruptures all his veins -- the similitude is like the cat playing with the cushion, and you can see the cloth protruding

The Question that is asked by many people: "if there is only ONE angel of Death -- why is it that in surah 79, ALLAH SWT said: "I swear by the Angels who pull the souls of the kuffaar out with great violence " -- why did ALLAH use the word ANGELS, if the Angel of Death is only one person?

The answer: one angel takes the soul out , and then he passes it on to a group of angels who wraps it up into a sweet cloth to take it up to show to ALLAH SWT -- this is why ALLAH SWT says ANGELS (plural)

Famous hadith found in Bukhari:
-Angel of death approaches Musa to snatch his soul and Musa punches the angel of death in his eyes

Narrated By Abu Huraira: The angel of death was sent to Moses and when he went to him, Moses slapped him severely, spoiling one of his eyes. The angel went back to his Lord, and said, "You sent me to a slave who does not want to die." Allah restored his eye and said, "Go back and tell him (i.e. Moses) to place his hand over the back of an ox, for he will be allowed to live for a number of years equal to the number of hairs coming under his hand." (So the angel came to him and told him the same). Then Moses asked, "O my Lord! What will be then?" He said, "Death will be then." He said, "(Let it be) now." He asked Allah that He bring him near the Sacred Land at a distance of a stone's throw. Allah's Apostle (p.b.u.h) said, "Were I there I would show you the grave of Moses by the way near the red sand hill." [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 2, Book 23, Hadith #423]

THREE OPINIONS AMONG THE SCHOLARS OF AQEEDAH

-on why Musa punched the Angel of death:
-the Mu’tazilites reject this hadith by the way
-how can a man punch an angel and knock out his eye? they use their aql

1st opinion: Musa feared death
2nd opinion: Musa wanted his grave to remain top secret

-he didn’t want people to know where his grave would be,
-perhaps he knew the grave-worshippers would come

3rd opinion: he wanted to die on a holy piece of land
and where the angel approached him was an ordinary piece of land

The correct opinion: the 3rd opinion
- this was also the opinion of Imam Bukhari

“Our messengers [i.e., angels] seize his soul, and they do not fall short of their duty”‘ (Surah al An am 6:61) Then the Prophet said, ‘There exudes from the soul a scent like the most beautiful fragrance of musk that one could find on the face of the earth.

The angels descend with the soul, never passing a host of angels without hearing them ask, “Who is this wonderful soul?” They reply, “So and so, the son of so and so,”

-addressing him with the best names he was known by during his earthly life.

Upon reaching the first heaven, the angels request that it be opened for the soul – which is granted. The soul is then accompanied by the angels of each heaven until it reaches the one above it and finally arrives at the seventh heaven. then Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, says [to the angels], “Place the record of My servant in ‘illiyyun’.”‘ The person’s record is then placed in ‘illiyyun’ illiyyun - a record or a place in paradise where good souls are kept, whereupon a command is heard: “Return him to the earth, at this point the man can hear the footsteps of his friends and family at the JANAZAH

Now the 2 angels: Munkar wa Nakir will ask him three questions: who is your Lord? who is your Prophet? what is your religion?

Allâh will keep firm those who believe, with the word that stands firm in this world (i.e. they will keep on worshipping Allâh Alone and none else), and in the Hereafter. And Allâh will cause to go astray those who are Zâlimûn (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc.), and Allâh does what He wills. (Ibrahim 14:27)

...two angels will come to him, make him sit up and ask him: Who is your Lord? He will reply: Alas, alas! I do not know. They will ask him: What is your religion? He will reply: Alas, alas! I do not know. They will ask: Who was the man who was sent on a mission among you?...[Abu Dawud, Book 35, Hadith #4735]

'Upon the believers answer to these questions], a voice is heard in the heavens, saying “My servant has told the truth, so clothe him in the clothing of Paradise, spread for him the furnishings of Paradise, and open for him a window with a view of Paradise.” So the person in the grave; the grave is engulfed with a sweet fragrance from paradise -- and grave expands as far as the eye can see.

There appears before him a man with wonderful face and beautiful clothing, emitting a splendid fragrance. He says to the soul, “

Nay, but the record of the righteous is in 'Illiyin - (18) Ah, what will convey unto thee what 'Illiyin is! - (19) A written record, (20) Attested by those who are brought near (unto their Lord). (21) (Surah 83)

“Rejoice at the news which will gladden you! Rejoice at Allah’s pleasure and His Paradise, whose joys and delights never end. This is the day which you were promised.”

The deceased says to him, “And who are you, for your face bears glad tidings?!” The figure answers, “I represent your good deeds; by Allah, I’ve always known you to be quick in obedience to Allah and slow to His obedience. so may Allah reward you with good.” Then a door to Paradise is opened, whereupon it is said to him [regarding the Hellfire] “This would have been your final abode had you disobeyed Allah; however, it has been exchanged for this other abode [i.e., Paradise].”

When the soul sees what is in Paradise, he cries “My Lord, hasten the arrival of the Hour [i.e., the Resurrection] so that I may be joined with my family and wealth” Thereupon it is said to him, “Rest in tranquility.”‘

Allah’s Messenger (pbuh) continued, ‘When the disbelieving servant [and in another narration "sinful servant"] is about to leave this world and enter the next, they sit before him at a distance as far as the eye can see. Then the Angel of Death arrives, and sitting at the head of the disbeliever, he says, “O you foul soul, come out to the anger and wrath of your Lord.”

And if you could but see when the Zâlimûn (polytheists and wrong¬doers, etc.) are in the agonies of death, while the angels are stretching forth their hands (saying):"Deliver your souls! This day you shall be recompensed with the torment of degradation because of what you used to utter against Allâh other than the truth. And you used to reject His Ayât (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) with disrespect!" (Al-An'am 6:93)

The soul inside the disbeliever’s body is overcome by terrible fear [and does not want to deliver itself up], whereupon the Angel of Death violently pulls it out multi-pronged skewers being yanked out of wet wool – tearing with them the arteries and nerves.

Upon this, the soul is cursed by every angel between the earth and the heavens and by those inside the heavens.

Then the doors of the heavens are closed to him, and every single guard at these doors begs Allah that this soul not be carried up in front of him.’ The Prophet (pbuh) continued, ‘The Angel of Death barely receives the soul in his hands, whereupon the other angels grasp it from him and wrap it up in coarse cloth. There emits from it the foulest odor that could be found on the face of the earth. They ascend with it, never passing a host of angels without being asked, “Who is this ugly soul?” They reply, “So and so, the son of so and so,” using the worst names by which he was known in this world. When they arrive at the lowest heaven they request that it be opened for this soul, but the request is denied.’ At this point Allah’s Messenger (pbuh) recited the verse:

’The gates of the heavens will not be opened for them, nor will they enter the Garden of Paradise until a camel goes through the eye of a needle.’ (Surah al-A’raf 7:40)

Verily, those who belie Our Ayât (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) and treat them with arrogance, for them the gates of heaven will not be opened, and they will not enter Paradise until the camel goes through the eye of the needle (which is impossible). Thus do We recompense the Mujrimûn (criminals, polytheists, sinners, etc.). (Al-A'raf 7:40)

If you are asked the question : Where is Hell ?

You answer: hell is underneath the 7 earths, opposite to paradise

After that he continued, ‘Then Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, says [to the angels], “Place his record in sijjeen – in the lowest earth. Return My servant to the earth, for verily I have promised mankind that having created them from the earth

I will return them to it. And I will make them come out of it , yet another time.” Upon this command, the deceased [disbelievers] soul is thrown down from the sky until it lands in its body.’ [The Prophet (pbuh) resumed his explanation, saying], “Then two angels, severe in interrogation, come to him, sitting him up, they begin to question him, “Who is your Lord?” He replies, “Hah! Hah! I don’t know.” They continue by asking him, “What is your religion?” He answers, “Hah! Hah! I don’t know.” So they ask, “Then what do you say about this man who was sent to you?” [The disbeliever does not appear to understand who they are referring to, so it is said], “Muhammad.” Again he states, “Hah! Hah! I don’t know. I only heard people talking about him.” Then it is said, “You did not know! And you did not read!”

Then there appears to him a person with an ugly face and ugly clothing and exuding a foul odor, who says, “Tidings of evil to you, for this is the day which you were promised!” The deceased says to him, “And you, too; may Allah give you evil tidings! Who are you, for yours is a face which portends evil.” The person rejoins, “I represent your wicked deeds. By Allah, I have always known you to be slow in obedience to Allah and quick in disobedience to Him. May Allah reward you with evil!” Then one who is deaf, dumb and blind and is carrying an iron rod is sent to the deceased. If he were to strike a mountain with it, the mountain would disintegrate into rubble. He strikes the deceased with a blow which turns him to dust.

Anas ibn Malik (Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & give peace) said: “If (I had not feared) that you would stop burying your deceased, I would have asked Allah to make you hear the punishment in the grave” (Sahih Muslim).

If I wasn’t afraid that you would stop burying your dead, I’d make a dua to ALLAH for you to hear the people crying out from their punishment Allah returns the deceased to his original form, whereupon he is struck a second time. This causes him to shriek with such violence that it is heard by all of creation except mankind and jinn. Then a door to the Fire is opened, and beddings of the Fire are spread for him, whereupon he cries, “Lord do not establish the Hour!”‘”

THE NEXT CHAPTER: THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN RUH AND NAFS

This long hadith was narrated by Bara bin Azib

-how did he memorize something so long?
-because when we don’t sin, we have a clear mind to memorize things

The 5 meanings of “Nafs”

Umm Salamah reported: "Allâh’s Messenger entered upon Abû Salamah [i.e. his corpse], whose eyes were wide open. The Prophet closed the lids and then said, ‘When the rûh [spirit] is taken out, the eyesight follows it [i.e., watches it ascend]. Authentically related by Ahmad and Muslim

Now you know when you see dead people whose eyes are wide open as if they are staring at something: OF COURSE they are staring at something

So what’s the difference between the Ruh and the Nafs?
RUH = outside the body
NAFS = inside the body

-this is why dead people have their eyes opened

-some Sahabahs said: we must not part company with you in this world, because your soul will go to paradise

Narrated Ibn Abbas: While a man was at 'Arafat (for Hajj) with Allah's Apostle the fell down from his Mount and broke his neck (and died). So Allah's Apostle said, "Wash him with water and Sidr and shroud him in two pieces of cloth and neither perfume him nor cover his head, for Allah will resurrect him on the Day of Resurrection and he will be saying 'Labbaik." Sometimes you might go to china or India,
-and you see buildings and people, and you experience déjà vu
-this happens because while you were sleeping in Africa, UK, etc
-your soul left your body while you were sleeping
-and traveled to India or China (example)

The reason for deja vu:
-your soul left your body and toured these places before you actually went there
-only those who believe in reincarnation believe that the soul can return to dunya
-it is against the creed of ASWJ that the soul can return to the dunya
-because ALLAH SWT said in 23:100

...and behind them is Barzakh (a barrier) until the Day when they will be resurrected. (Al-Mu'minun 23:100)
