This is the 110th surah, Surah an-Nasr
- this surah is short - this surah was revealed in Madinah
- even though it is a short surah (it consists of three verses)
- ALLAH SWT said: Itha jaa Nasru Allahi Waalfath

When comes the Help of Allah (to you, O Muhammad (Peace be upon him) against your enemies) and the conquest (of Makkah), (An-Nasr 110:1)

And you see that the people enter Allah's religion (Islam) in crowds (An-Nasr 110:2)

So glorify the Praises of your Lord, and ask for His Forgiveness. Verily, He is the One Who accepts the repentance and forgives. (An-Nasr 110:3)

The Conquest of Makkah:
this translation is correct
- all the scholars of tafseer , when explaining this surah
- they say the conquest that is mentioned here:
- 'fath ' is the fath of Makkah

Waraayta alnnasa yadkhuoona fee deeni Allahi afwaja (110:2)

Fasabbih bihamdi rabbika waistaghfirhu innahu kana tawwaba (110:3)

ALLAH SWT mentioned istighfar and Tawbah in the surah

- the reason : they are different
- and we will explain the difference
- when we give the tafseer of the surah
- Nasr means help
- fath means victory
- you have to explain the historic events
-that lead up to the Surah

The historic event that led up to the conquest of Mecca is the treaty of Hudabiyyah; Umar would go to halaqah in Madinah which was attended by Sahabahs, they fought at Badr; the Sahabah said: why take this little boy with you? When Umar realized the Sahabahs were frowning at the age of ibn Abbas , Umar set a test for them; Umar was going to prove to the Sahabahs who ibn Abbas was. One day he took ibn Abbas to the halaqah, and he asked the Sahabahs what’s the meaning of it. The Sahabahs said , this surah is talking about ALLAH 's divine help - when we are victorious on the battlefield we should seek his forgiveness and praise him Abundantly; they gave a literal tafseer of the surah; Umar turned to ibn Abbas and asked him of the main message of the surah. ibn Abbas said : the main message of the surah is that the life of Muhammad SAW is coming to an end

The reason why Umar put out that test, that question, was to prove to the Sahabahs "you are grumbling when I bring ibn Abbas to the halaqas, but he is not like your kids who you left at home, he is a commentator of the Quran - the dua of the Rasul was answered.” When Abu Huraira mother insulted the prophet, and Abu Huraira went to the Rasul crying, the Rasul made dua for her, Abu Huraira went home and his mother made ghusl and took Shahadah

Ibn Abbas (RA) narrated: Umar would ask me (about religious matters) in the presence of the Sahabah of the Prophet Abdur Rahman ibn Awf said to him, “Do you ask him while he is like our children?” He said, “(You know) from where he has learnt.” O Then he asked me to explain: When comes the help of Allah and victory. (110 :1 to the end of the surah, an-Nasr)-- I said, “Indeed, it was the term of life of Allah’s Messenger that, he was informed, had come to the end. “And I recited the surah to the end. Umar said, “By Allah, I do not know about it more than what you know.” [Tirmidhi, Ahmed, Bukhari]

Narrated By Anas: The Prophet said, "Whoever said "None has the right to be worshipped but Allah and has in his heart good (faith) equal to the weight of a barley grain will be taken out of Hell. And whoever said: "None has the right to be worshipped but Allah and has in his heart good (faith) equal to the weight of a wheat grain will be taken out of Hell. And whoever said, "None has the right to be worshipped but Allah and has in his heart good (faith) equal to the weight of an atom will be taken out of Hell." [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 1, Book 2. Hadith #042]

Ta'weel: Interpretation of the Qur'an
Tafseer: Explanation of the Qur'an

Narrated By Ibn 'Abbas: Once the Prophet embraced me and said, "O Allah! Bestow on him the knowledge of the Book (Qur'an)." [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 1, Book 3, Hadith #075]
The Rasul hugged ibn Abbas and squeezed him and said "oh ALLAH teach him ta weel and teach him tafseer" - therefore ibn Abbas has the best commentary of the Quran; as for the hadith of kufr doona kufr, it is a weak hadith: you are not allowed to base your creed, aqeeda on weak Hadiths

The Saudi Salafis

-base their religion on the hadith of Kufr doona Kufr
-yet they call themselves "ahlul Hadith
-Abu Khadijah, the leader of the Talafis in Birmingham,
-said no one is allowed to help our brother Babar Ahmed
-the Talafis are Khawarij with the Muslims
-what led up to the conquest of Makkah: the treaty of Hudabiyyah
-Murjia with the leaders

The scholars of Islam said there are three ayahs
-that outline the dawah of Muhammad SAW:
1. 2:143
- the dawah of Muhammad SAW was outlined in these three ayahs

Thus We have made you [true Muslims - real believers of Islamic Monotheism, true followers of Prophet Muhammad and his Sunnah (legal ways)], a Wasat (just) (and the best) nation, that you be witnesses over mankind and the Messenger (Muhammad) be a witness over you..... (Al-Baqarah 2:143)

We, the Muslims, are a balanced nation - we don’t hate Jesus like the Jews, nor do we worship him like the Christians; we are in the middle between the spiritualist and the materialist - the spiritualist makes dhikr all day and spends his time at the masjid, and he abandons his family - the materialist spends all his time in his shops and he abandons salah, Jumu’ah , etc

2. 34:28

And We have not sent you (O Muhammad SAW) except as a giver of glad tidings and a warner to all mankind, but most of men know not. (Saba' 34:28)

Muhammad is a bringer of glad tidings and he is also a warner

3. 21:107

And We have sent you (O Muhammad SAW) not but as a mercy for the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). (Al-Anbiya 21:107)

Muhammad SAW was a merciful prophet, he was not a prophet bent on bloodshed like the Asian kuffaar (like the pope) claim; He (SAW) was a Prophet of Mercy; the army of Muhammad, the Mujahideen smashed the Egyptian, Persian, roman empire; they are saying Muhammad SAW brought bloodshed because the Mujahideen have smashed countless empires

Like the empire of the USSR: many empires have been confined to the dustbin of history; where is the Mongolian empire? they were smashed by the Muslims at the Battle of Ayn Jaloot; the empire of Genghis Khan was smashed by the Muslims; it was confined to the dustbin of History

Nov 29, 2011 - Conference invite friends and family
-what led up to the conquest of Makkah?
-the treaty of Hudabiyyah; the Sahabahs thought this treaty was unfair to the Muslims but this treaty was NOT a defeat for the Muslims because when the Rasul was on his horse riding back to Madinah, he SAW said : ALLAH SWT revealed a surah to me which is more precious than the dunya and what it contains

Verily, We have given you (O Muhammad SAW) a manifest victory. (Al-Fath 48:1)

That Allah may forgive you your sins of the past and the future, and complete His Favour on you, and guide you on the Straight Path; (Al-Fath 48:2)

Anas (RA) reported that this was revealed to the Prophet (SAW);"That Allah may forgive you of your fault that which is past and that which is to come." (48: 2) When he was returning from Hudabiyyah. So he said, "Indeed, a verse is revealed to me dearer to me than whatever is on earth." Then he recited it to his companions. They exclaimed. "How happy and welcome! O Messenger of Allah, Allah has described for you what He would do with you, but what would He do with us?" So, this was revealed to him: "That He may admit the believing men and the believing women into Gardens underneath which rivers flow, aiding therein, and may acquit them of their evil deeds. And that in Allah's sight is a mighty triumph." (48: 5) [Tirmidhi, Ahmed, Muslim]

He, the Prophet SAW used to pray until his legs would become swollen, Aisha asked him why does he do this when ALLAH SWT has forgiven his past and future sins? The Rasul said : shouldn’t I be a thankful servant to my LORD?

Narrated By 'Aisha: The Prophet used to offer prayer at night (for such a long time) that his feet used to crack. I said, "O Allah's Apostle! Why do you do it since Allah has forgiven you your faults of the past and those to follow?" He said, "Shouldn't I love to be a thankful slave (of Allah)?' When he became old, he prayed while sitting, but if he wanted to perform a bowing, he wound get up, recite (some other verses) and then perform the bowing. [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 6, Book 60, Hadith #361]

When ALLAH SWT said: we have given you a clear victory- what is this victory? it is the treaty its self; the scholars of tafseer of said this: the scholars of tafseer have given us many reasons on why the treaty was a victory for the Muslims:

Why was the treaty of Hudabiyyah classified by ALLAH as a victory:

1. If you are weak, you are nobody; who will give you the respect to sit at a negotiating table with you?

No one will negotiate with you because you are weak but if you are a force to be reckoned with, then they will invite you to the negotiating table; the whole of the Arabian peninsula acknowledged that the Islamic state of Madinah became a force to be reckoned with, politically and militarily

The kuffaar are now saying they want to negotiate with the Taliban; when the war started they claimed that the Taliban is a rag tag army (weak); they NO LONGER use this term; now they want to negotiate with the "moderate elements" of the Taliban; why did they say moderate elements? because they want to split the Taliban into two - the cleverness of the gora; a documentary of the kuffaar was played recently, they said : the Taliban use IED's which cost FIVE US dollars, this IED can destroy a tank that cost one million dollars

The World's Deadliest Arms Race -

Sincere advice to the kuffaar - GET OUT OF AFGHANISTAN

...And whosoever fears Allah and keeps his duty to Him, He will make a way for him to get out (from every difficulty). (At-Talaq 65:2)

And He will provide him from (sources) he never could imagine. And whosoever puts his trust in Allah, then He will suffice him. Verily, Allah will accomplish his purpose. Indeed Allah has set a measure for all things. (At-Talaq 65:3)

2. The propaganda machinery of the Quraish was neutralized

-the Quraish would say that Muhammad SAW was bent on war
-and that he was bloodthirsty
-and all that he cared about was military might, political might this was the propaganda machinery of the Quraish but when the Rasul signed a treaty of TEN YEARS NO WAR - this neutralized the propaganda machinery of the Quraish

3. The Muslims were able to puncture the plot of the Jews
- the Jews of khaybar who were kicked out of Madinah, were plotting to join the Quraish against Muhammad, they wanted revenge

4. the seemingly oppressive point in the treaty
- the seemingly oppressive point in the treaty turned out to be in the favor of the Muslims; why? Any Muslim who left dar ul harb (Makkah) for dar ul Islam (Madinah) should be turned back, but any Muslim who left dar ul Islam, the kuffaar are allowed to keep them; this is the point in the treaty that made Umar red in anger

The Rasul signed the treaty by Ali, it was written by Ali for the Rasul. Why did the Rasul not have any qualms for agreeing with the treaty? This is how wise the Rasul was because if a person is in Madinah, in dar ul Islam, and he wants to go live in dar ul harb - that is a munafiqh! We don’t need that kind of Muslim, let him go; if a Muslim, after tasting the sweetness of iman, wants to leave an Islamic state for dar ul harb, that person is a munafiqh; this is why the Prophet SAW had no qualms with signing that aspect of the treaty

Why is it that it turned out to be in favor of the Muslims? because Abu Baseer (a very fierce fighter, a stalwart, a knight). Abu Baseer decided that he doesn’t want to be kaafir anymore, he wanted to be Muslim , he didn’t want to live in dar ul harb anymore; so he wanted to go to Madinah- the Quraish said : Don’t forget the treaty ! send him back! So the Rasul sent him back, because of the treaty. Abu Baseer said : I will never live in dar ul harb , not even for one day so he camped in No mans land, by the red sea, in between Makkah and Madinah. Every single kaafir of Quraish that came by, Abu Baseer would rob them because of what Abu Baseer did, many scholars say : the wealth of a kaafir is not sacred unless there is a treaty and that treaty is the covenant of security; the treaty of Hudabiyyah did not include Abu Baseer because he was not a citizen of Madinah; the Sahabahs who were citizens of Madinah must abide by the treaty - but Abu Baseer was not, so he does not have to abide by that treaty; the Prophet did not tell Abu Baseer to stop his activities; his activities are called dar ul barb activities

The Quraish thought they were smart, they thought they were WISE but they were OTHERWISE; the Quraish thought they were oppressing the Muslims with the treaty - but the treaty backfired on their faces

-the Kuffaar have a history of miscalculation
-they' thought Abu Baseer would return to Makkah
-He wasn’t in Makkah nor in Madinah
-an entire army joined Abu Baseer
-from Makkah
-they would rob caravans
-Abu Baseer was in no man's land
-What Quraish did, they went to the Rasul in Madinah,
-and they begged the Rasul to change the treaty
-because their trading route was finished

Abu Baseer was the amir
-of the group Muslims living in no mans land
-Quraish was forced to change the treaty
-the treaty was changed , now to allow Muslims to enter Madinah, leaving from Makkah

He is Otbah Ibn-Usayd Ibn-Jariyah ath-Thaqafiyy, known by his nickname. He fled from the polytheists during the Hudabiyyah truce period and went to the Prophet (SAWS) so Quraysh demanded he would be returned by the Prophet (SAWS). When he knew that the Prophet (SAWS) would return him, he fled to Saif al-Bahr and all who fled from the polytheists joined him. Refer to "Al-Istee'ab" 3/145, "Usd al-Ghaba" 3/454, "Al-Isaba", and "At-Tarjama"p. 5398

…. When the Prophet returned to Medina, Abu Basir, a new Muslim convert from Quraish came to him. The Infidels sent in his pursuit two men who said (to the Prophet), "Abide by the promise you gave us." So, the Prophet handed him over to them. They took him out (of the City) till they reached Dhul-Hulaifa where they dismounted to eat some dates they had with them. Abu Basir said to one of them, "By Allah, O so-and-so, I see you have a fine sword." The other drew it out (of the scabbard) and said, "By Allah, it is very fine and I have tried it many times." Abu Bair said, "Let me have a look at it."

When the other gave it to him, he hit him with it till he died, and his companion ran away till he came to Medina and entered the Mosque running. When Allah's Apostle saw him he said, "This man appears to have been frightened." When he reached the Prophet he said, "My companion has been murdered and I would have been murdered too." Abu Basir came and said, "O Allah's Apostle, by Allah, Allah has made you fulfil your obligations by your returning me to them (i.e. the Infidels), but Allah has saved me from them." The Prophet said, "Woe to his mother! what excellent war kindler he would be, should he only have supporters." When Abu Basir heard that he understood that the Prophet would return him to them again, so he set off till he reached the seashore. Abu Jandal bin Suhail got himself released from them (i.e. infidels) and joined Abu Basir. So, whenever a man from Quraish embraced Islam he would follow Abu Basir till they formed a strong group. By Allah, whenever they heard about a caravan of Quraish heading towards Sham, they stopped it and attacked and killed them (i.e. infidels) and took their properties. The people of Quraish sent a message to the Prophet requesting him for the Sake of Allah and Kith and kin to send for (i.e. Abu Basir and his companions) promising that whoever (amongst them) came to the Prophet would be secure. So the Prophet sent for them (i.e. Abu Basir's companions) and Allah I revealed the following Divine Verses:
"And it is He Who Has withheld their hands from you and your hands From them in the midst of Mecca, After He made you the victorious over them... the unbelievers had pride and haughtiness, in their hearts... the pride and haughtiness of the time of ignorance." (48.24-26) And their pride and haughtiness was that they did not confess (write in the treaty) that he (i.e. Muhammad) was the Prophet of Allah and refused to write: "In the Name of Allah, the most Beneficent, the Most Merciful," and prevented the Mushriks from visiting the Ka'ba.

Narrated Az-Zuhri: Urwa said, "'Aisha told me that Allah's Apostle used to examine the women emigrants. We have been told also that when Allah revealed the order that the Muslims should return to the pagans what they had spent on their wives who emigrated (after embracing Islam) and that the Mushriks should not. keep unbelieving women as their wives, 'Umar divorced two of his wives, Qariba, the daughter of Abu Urhaiya and the daughter of Jarwal Al-Khuza'i. Later on Mu'awlya married Qariba and Abu Jahm married the other."

When the pagans refused to pay what the Muslims had spent on their wives, Allah revealed: "And if any of your wives have gone from you to the unbelievers and you have an accession (By the coming over of a woman from the other side) (Then pay to those whose wives have gone) The equivalent of what they had spent (On their Mahr)." (60.11)

So, Allah ordered that the Muslim whose wife, has gone, should be given, as a compensation of the Mahr he had given to his wife, from the Mahr of the wives of the pagans who had emigrated deserting their husbands.

We do not know any of the women emigrants who deserted Islam after embracing it. We have also been told that Abu Basir bin Asid Ath-Thaqafi came to the Prophet as a Muslim emigrant during the truce. Al-Akhnas bin Shariq wrote to the Prophet requesting him to return Abu Basir. [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 3, Book 50, Hadith #891]

The kuffaar put a very oppressive clause in the treaty

-they thought they were being nasty with the Muslims :
-any Muslim who leaves dar ul harb for Madinah, you have to send him back
-the Rasul did not have any qualms with that treaty,
-his wisdom was beyond the Sahabahs
-if a person is living in Madinah, the Islamic state,
-and he tastes the sweetness of iman,
-and he wants to leave the Islamic state for dar ul harb,
-the land of the enemy,
-let him go because that’s a munafiqh, good riddance
-then the kaafirs miscalculated
-a kaafir is so proud and arrogant, they cant think properly
-when you are a racist, tribalistic, nationalist,
-when you lust, you cannot think properly

Abu Baseer a fierce fighter, a knight said:
-I don’t want to be a kaafir no more,
-I will migrate and join Muhammad SAW in Madinah
- the Quraish said to send Abu Baseer back to Makkah, because of the treaty

The Prophet said to Abu Baseer: you have to go back due to the treaty; Abu Baseer instead encamped in no mans land, in between Mecca and Madinah, and every single caravan that came by that route , Abu Baseer robbed; therefore the oppressive treaty of the Quraish backfired in the faces of the Quraish; the prophet could not say to Abu Baseer to stop robbing the caravans of Quraish because he was not a citizen of Madinah, therefore the treaty did not apply to him

You have a covenant with the kuffaar , IF you are a citizen of an Islamic state, and that Islamic state has signed a treaty with the kuffaar; but if you’re NOT a citizen of an Islamic state, then there is no covenant of security that applies to you; the Quraish ran to Muhammad and begged him to change the treaty

5. The Prophet was wise not to open up many war fronts at the same time, simultaneously

Look at Napoleon, he lost wars; look at Adolph Hitler, they all opened up many war fronts; Hitler started a war with Russia, UK, and America: how can you fight Russia, UK, and American simultaneously? When you see one gora, you see all the gora; Bush made the same mistake; how can you attack Iraq and Afghanistan simultaneously? America is now bankrupt, many are marching everywhere in America , esp on Wall Street; when you see Hitler, you see Bush; when you see Bush, and you see Hitler;

If you tell a child not to play with something, the child will still play with it - out of curiosity; if you have three movies : cartoons, ghost movie, kung fu movie, (and you don’t want your child to watch the ghost DVD , and you tell the child that he can watch all the movies except the ghost movie), the child will watch the ghost movie out of curiosity

Why is Afghanistan the graveyard of all empires? I am gonna go and find out (the thinking of Bush); these wars are quagmires, wars that have no end in sight

Muhammad SAW didn’t want to fight the Jews and Quraish at the same time; therefore he signed a treaty with the Quraish of ten years no war; then he shifting the mujahideen against the Jews of khaybar. Muhammad SAW was wise, he did not open up two warfronts

The sunnah of Muhammad SAW is Wisdom, Hikmah

6. The Prophet knew with deep insight and foresight that the Quraish

-did NOT have the sincerity to abide by the treaty
-and when they broke it, it gave the Rasul the opportunity to conquer Makkah
-Any Arab tribe that wanted to enter into the alliance of the Muslims
-or Quraish were allowed to do so
-Banu Bakr entered into the alliance of the Quraish
-Banu Khuzaa'a entered into the alliance of the Muslims
-Quraish , like the prophet predicted , Quraish gave weapons to
-Banu Bakr to kill Banu Khuzaa, Banu Bakr attacked them
-and killed them while they were in salah

The Muslims complained to the Prophet
-therefore the Prophet announced
-that He SAW will conquer Makkah for what the Quraish did
-when Abu Sufyan heard this, a leader of Makkah, he went to the Rasul

Abu Sufyan went to the house of Umm Habibia, his daughter
- Umm Habiba was married to the Rasul
- Abu Sufyan went to the house and tried to sit down
- on a mantle that belonged to the Rasul
- Umm Habiba grabbed it and moved it from Abu Sufyan
- and Abu Sufyan asked if he was not good enough for the mantle
- Umm Habiba said : you are a filthy mushrik, this belongs to the Rasul
- Abu Sufyan said: is the mantle better than me
- or am I better than the mantle
- she said : the mantle is better than you, it belongs to the Rasul,
- and you are a filthy mushrik
- look at the al walaa wal baraa of Umm Habiba
- this is why the wives of the Rasul are called the Mothers of the believers,
- they had al walaa wal baraa and Taqwa
- look how wise the Rasul was, he made Abu Sufyan,
- the leader of Makkah, his father in law
- Umm Habiba was an early Shahadah,
- she took Shahadah in the early days of Islam
- When Umm Habiba did not receive him warmly,
- Abu Sufyan went to Abu Bakr
- Abu Bakr gave him cold treatment
- therefore Abu Sufyan went to Umar
- Umar gave him cold treatment and even threatened him with death
- then Abu Sufyan went to Ali
- and said "Ask Muhammad SAW to reinstate the treaty "
- Abu Sufyan went to his DAUGHTER thinking he would get a warm welcome
- but he got cold treatment, he was called a filthy mushrik
- this is another lesson showing that kaafirs always miscalculate
- kaafirs have a track record of miscalculating-
- Abu Sufiyan, when he realized that the game was over,
- he took Shahadah

Abu Sufyan said to Abbas that his nephew has a mighty kingdom
-but al-Abbas refuted his saying it wasn’t kingdom
-but it was prophet-hood
-Abbas said to lay down their arms and not resist Rasulallah
-Rasulallah entered Makkah with 10, 000 strong
-he went to make Tawaf and broke the idols
-he also demolished the pictures of idols & angels inside the Ka'ba

Rasulallah asked the pagans of Makkah how should he deal with them
-these pagans killed Sumayyah, the first Muslimah to have Shahadah
-they sanctioned the Muslims for 3 years
-they fought many battles against the Muslims
-they also killed and tortured many Muslims
-but they said he was the son of a noble man
-thereafter, Rasulallah said, "idhaboo fa antum tulaqaa"
-"Go your way, you are free."

Ikrimah ibn Abi Jahal was to be killed
-even if he was hanging on the clothe of the Ka'ba
-he took a boat on its way to Ethiopia
-but the boat was about to drown
-so Ikrimah knew it was the handy work of ALLAH
-so he promised to become a Muslim if ALLAH
-brought him back to dry land
-he was truthful in his claim and took Shahadah
-and became one of the stalwart of Islam

Muhammad SAW was a mercy to mankind
-when he conquered Makkah, he could have massacred the pagans (he had 10,000 men)
-many Arab tribes abandoned shirk and joined the army of Muhammad SAW
-but because Muhammad SAW was a mercy to mankind he said:

“This day there is no reproof against you; Go your way, for you are free.” (Related by Ibn Kathir, recorded by Ibn al-Hajjaj Muslim)

-within two years, the entire Arabian peninsula was conquered
-after the Arabian peninsula was conquered , ALLAH SWT revealed this surah
-why did the Arab tribes wait for Makkah to be conquered
-to embrace Islam in multitudes?

When the Rasul conquered Makkah, he said:
-there is no hijrah after the conquest of Makkah
-why? because Makkah is no longer dar ul harb, its now dar ul Islam
-you don’t need to migrate from Makkah to medina anymore

There are three dars:
-dar ul harb , dar ul kufr, dar ul Islam
-dar ul kufr - a land in which we have a covenant of security with them
-if they kill Muslims, they’ve broke the covenant of security

Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: Allah's Apostle said, "There is no hijra (i.e. migration) (from Mecca to Medina) after the Conquest (of Mecca), but Jihad and good intention remain; and if you are called (by the Muslim ruler) for fighting, go forth immediately. (SAHIH AL BUKHARI - Book #52, Hadith #42)

celebrate the praise of Lord,
-and seek HIS forgiveness
-why celebrate the praise of your LORD?
-because you have conquered the country bi idnillah
-(by the permission of ALLAH SWT)
-you’re not allowed to brag and boast, don’t be proud or arrogant
-when the Sahabahs conquered a country, t
-hey always prayed 2 rakat to thank ALLAH

There is a difference between istighfar and Tawbah
-istighfar is when you seek forgiveness from small sins
-Tawbah- when you seek forgiveness for big sins

ALLAH SWT mentioned istighfar and Tawbah in the same ayah
-to show difference between major and minor sins
-there are two kinds of kufr and shirk : major and minor --

In Islam, everything is major and minor
-if you don’t understand that in Islam everything is major and minor,
-you will end up as the Khawarijj are,
-who make takfir on the Muslims for any sin
-this is where the Khawarijj went astray
-they don’t make a difference between major and minor
-sometimes the help of ALLAH is delayed
-why is sometimes the help of ALLAH delayed and why,
-at times, does it not come at all

1. When we beseech ALLAH in our du’as, sometimes our du’as contain shirk
-if you have shirk in your dua, the help of ALLAH SWT will never come
-this is the plight of the people of Kashmir
-because most Kashmir’s are Barelvis: its pagan vs pagan (when they fight the Hindus)
-in Kashmir, you need a jama'ah upon Tawheed to liberate Kashmir

...The former said: "Verily, Allah accepts only from those who are Al-Muttaqûn (the pious - see V.2:2)." (Al-Ma'idah 5:27)

-the son of Adam, named Abel said :...The former said: "Verily, Allah accepts only from those who are Al-Muttaqûn
(the pious - see V.2:2)." (Al-Ma'idah 5:27)

2. They were fighting fisabili-democracy , racism, tribalism, nationalism
-they were not fighting fisabilillah
-this is ANOTHER type of shirk, to not fight with the right intention

A man came to the Prophet and asked, "A man fights for war booty; another fights for fame and a third fights for showing off; which of them fights in Allah's Cause?" The Prophet said, "He who fights that Allah's Word (i.e. Islam) should be superior, fights in Allah's Cause." Volume 4, Book 52, Number 65: Bukhari

3. We did not make Tawbah from our sins

-when 2 armies come face to face, equal in sins,
-the one w/ the better weapons will win
-Umar in Khattab said this to Sa’d ibn Abi Waqqas
-your sins stop the help of Allah from coming to the battlefield
-they deprive you of Allah’s help

4. You don’t have any Tawakkul in Allah ‘tala
-you are wishy-washy
-you don’t have faith in Allah ‘tala

Or think you that you will enter Paradise without such (trials) as came to those who passed away before you? They were afflicted with severe poverty and ailments and were so shaken that even the Messenger and those who believed along with him said, "When (will come) the Help of Allah?" Yes! Certainly, the Help of Allah is near! (Al-Baqarah 2:214)

..But those who knew with certainty that they were to meet their Lord, said: "How often a small group overcame a mighty host by Allah's Leave?" And Allah is with As-Sabirin (the patient ones, etc.). (Al-Baqarah 2:249)

-how many times have you seen a small group overcoming a large group?
-that is because of tawakkul

Where is your tawakkul?
-you need tawakkul on the battlefield for the Help of ALLAH to come
-ALLAH SWT said in a Hadith Qudsi :
"I am as my servant thinks of ME"

I am as My servant thinks I am. I am with him when he makes mention of Me. If he makes mention of Me to himself, I make mention of him to Myself; and if he makes mention of Me in an assembly, I make mention of …al-Buhkari, Muslim, at-Tirmidhi and Ibn-Majah)

5. You had no humility when you were beseeching Allah

Invoke your Lord with humility and in secret. He likes not the aggressors. (Al-A'raf 7:55)

You praise ALLAH SWT first in Surah Fatiha

-the first half belongs to ALLAH SWT
-the other half belongs to the servants of ALLAH
-before you beg ALLAH , you praise HIM, you honor HIM,

In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful (Al-Fatihah 1:1)

All the praises and thanks be to Allah, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). (Al-Fatihah 1:2)

The Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful. (Al-Fatihah 1:3)

The Only Owner (and the Only Ruling Judge) of the Day of Recompense (i.e. the Day of Resurrection). (Al-Fatihah 1:4)

You (Alone) we worship, and You (Alone) we ask for help (for each and everything). (Al-Fatihah 1:5)

Guide us to the Straight Way. (Al-Fatihah 1:6)

ALLAH SWT used Surah Fatiha to teach you how to beg properly

6. You put a condition on your dua

-"Oh ALLAH help me if you want to help me "
-the scholars say this is a haraam dua
-don’t put any conditions on your dua

7. When you made your dua, you did not send peace and blessing upon Muhammad SAW

Fadalah ibn Ubayd (RA) reported that the Prophet (SAW) heard a man make a supplication in his salah without invocating blessing on the Prophet (SAW). So he said, “He has made haste.” Then he called him and said to him or to another.” When one of you offers salah, let him begin by praise of Allah and His glorification. Then let him invoke blessing on the Prophet and then supplicate for whatever he will.” [Tirmidhi 3488, Ahmed 23992]

8. You eat haraam food
9. You drink haraam drinks

Hadith in hadith #10 of the 40 hadith of Imam Nawawi:

-a man who has been journeying for a long time, fatigued and rusty,
-and he spreads his hands to the sky to make dua:
-but his clothing was haraam, his drink and food were haraam,
-he was nourished was haraam money -- how can his dua be answered?

The Authority Of Abu Hurairah: The messenger of Allah said : "Allah the Almighty is good and accepts only that which is good. Allah has commanded the faithful to do that which he commanded the messengers, and the Almighty has said: "O ye messengers ! Eat of the good things and do right". And Allah the Almighty has said : "O ye who believe! Eat of the good things wherewith We have provided you" Then he mentioned [the case of] a man who, having journeyed far, is dishevelled and dusty and who spreads out his hands to the sky [saying] : "O Lord! O Lord!" - while his food is unlawful, his drink unlawful, his clothing unlawful, and he is nourished unlawfully, so how can he be answered!" [Related by Muslim]

-the Rasul said: remember ALLAH in ease,
-and ALLAH will remember you in difficulty

-some Sahabahs were losing a battle
-because they did not brush their teeth
-the angels were supposed to help them but they hated bad breath,
-so they didn’t go to help
-you can divorce your spouse for bad breath or not showering

Jabir b. 'Abdullah reported the Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him) saying: "He who eats of this (offensive) plant, i. e garlic, and sometimes he said: He who eats onion and garlic and leek, should not approach our mosque for the angels are harmed by the same things as the children of Adam. (Translation of Sahih Muslim, The Book of Prayers (Kitab Al-Salat), Book 004, Number 1147)"

The Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: "When a person tells a lie, the bad smell that comes out of the lie keeps the angels one mile away." [Tirmidhi]

You can divorce your wife
if she doesn’t brush her teeth,
-its vice-versa
if husband or wife does not take shower
-then this is also a legit cause for divorce

“If I had not been afraid of overburdening my community, I would have ordered them to use a miswaq (to brush and clean their teeth) for every prayer” (Bukhari, “Iman,” 26)

12. You abandoned helping ALLAH's servants

-the Rasul said : ALLAH will help you if you help your muslim brother

‘whosoever helps his brother, Allah will help him’ (Hadith recorded in Tirmidhi and Imam Ahmad)

Many times the help of ALLAH will not come to you

-did you help a Muslim or oppress a Muslim?

O you who believe! If you help (in the cause of) Allah, He will help you, and make your foothold firm. (Muhammad 47:7)

-47:7, you need to help in the cause of ALLAH , for ALLAH SWT to help you
-did you feed the poor, did you provide medicine?

-ALLAH SWT says to sort out yourself , then ALLAH SWT will help

And obey Allah and His Messenger, and do not dispute (with one another) lest you lose courage and your strength depart, and be patient. Surely, Allah is with those who are As-Sabirin (the patient ones, etc.). (Al-Anfal 8:46)

The Muslims were supposed to conquer France

-they were close but they started fighting amongst themselves and they lost

So glorify the Praises of your Lord, and ask for His Forgiveness. Verily, He is the One Who accepts the repentance and forgives. (An-Nasr 110:3)

The Arab tribes in Arabia were watching
- waiting to see who would win:
- Muhammad SAW or the Quraish
- when they saw Muhammad SAW defeat Quraish, the Arabs joined Muhammad
- now there is a war between Islam and Democracy
- no one wants to back a loser
