And indeed We gave knowledge to Dawûd (David) and Sulaiman (Solomon), and they both said: "All the praises and thanks be to Allah, Who has preferred us above many of His believing slaves!" (An-Naml 27:15)

Dawud was a messenger and Sulaiman was a prophet

-A prophet has no book but the messenger has a book, Shariah
-Dawud was a Messenger
-"The song of Solomon" - a book in the Bible
-the Songs of Solomon has the same status as the hadith
-some will ask what about the songs of Solomon
-it is a book but has the same status as the hadith

"All the praises and thanks be to Allah, Who has preferred us above many of His believing slaves!" (An-Naml 27:15)

Allah said He gave knowledge to both Dawud and Sulaiman
-when ever you are given knowledge
-it means you are preferred over the rest
-the one who knows is not the same as the one that those not know
-both of them thanked Allah for the knowledge he gave them
-they were not ungrateful
-this is what a believer does and says Alhamdulillah/subhan'allah
-but the kaafir does not do this
-kaafir is someone who is ungrateful
-the word kaafir means an ungrateful person
-if you are ungrateful to Allah you will be ungrateful
-to the creation of Allah, surah 17:27

The messenger (S.A.W.) said: “Allah will talk to everyone directly, without a translator. The person will look to his right, and will not see anything but his deeds. Then the person will look in front of himself and will see nothing but the hellfire facing him. So protect yourself from Hellfire even by giving a charity of half a date.” {Reported by Imam Bukhari}

Verily, spendthrifts are brothers of the Shayatin (devils), and the Shaitan (Devil ¬ Satan) is ever ungrateful to his Lord. (Al-Isra 17:27)

Allah said the shaytan will always be ungrateful to his Lord
-so a believer should always humble himself to Allah when He gives him something
-knowledge is one of Allah's great blessings to us

-or wealth and health
-and as a result you will have to answer how you utilized your knowledge on judgment
-how you utilized your wealth, your body
-and when Allah is asking you these questions
-there will be no translator between you and Allah
-Sulaiman inherited from Dawud
-and Abu Bakr told her (Fatimah) that the prophet (saw) said that what
-so ever we the ambiyya leave behind is Sadaqah

It his been narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said:" We do not have any heirs; what we leave behind is a charitable endowment." (Muslim) Book 019, Number 4357:

-This is the hadith Abu Bakr As-Sadiq quoted
-The Shiites do not accept this hadith
-they said that the hadith contradicts the Quran

-and Abu Bakr told her that the prophet (saw) said that
-what so ever we the ambiyya leave behind is Sadaqah
-they use surah 27:16 to say the hadith contradicts Qur’an
-they say Sulaiman inherited it from David
-they use the Quran to refute the hadith

And Sulaiman (Solomon) inherited (the knowledge of) Dawûd (David) (An-Naml 27:16)

-that Allah said Sulaiman inherited from Dawud
-we say to the Shiites were not going to refute the ayah,
-we refute their Understanding of it
-Its not worldly things, it’s not Dunya
-If you do not understand the tafseer of the ayah
-the Shiites will checkmate you
-when you read the translation of the Quran,
-read it from Ahlus sunnah wa jama’a
-you are at the mercy of the translators
-everybody is translating the Quran with their ulterior motives

And Sulaiman (Solomon) inherited (the knowledge of) Dawûd (David). He said: "O mankind! We have been taught the language of birds, and on us have been bestowed all things. This, verily, is an evident grace (from Allah)." (An-Naml 27:16)

-this is a grace from Allah
-the most important grace from Allah is knowledge
-fiqh means to understand
-Whenever Allah wants good for you he gives you understanding of the deen

Narrated By Mu’awiyah: I heard Allah's Apostle saying, "If Allah wants to do good to a person, He makes him comprehend the religion. I am just a distributor, but the grant is from Allah. (And remember) that this nation (true Muslims) will keep on following Allah's teachings strictly and they will not be harmed by any one going on a different path till Allah's order (Day of Judgment) is established." [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 1, Book 3, Hadith #071]

Narrated Amr bin Al-Harith: (The brother of the wife of Allah's Apostle. Juwaira bint Al-Harith) When Allah's Apostle died, he did not leave any Dirham or Dinar (i.e. money), a slave or a slave woman or anything else except his white mule, his arms and a piece of land which he had given in charity . (Book #51, Hadith #2)

Narrated Ka’b bin ‘Iyad: Allah’s Messenger said, “Verily, there is a Fitnah (trial) for every nation and the trial for my nation (or Ummah) is wealth.” (At-Tirmidhi)

And Sulaiman (Solomon) inherited (the knowledge of) Dawûd (David). He said: "O mankind! We have been taught the language of birds, and on us have been bestowed all things. This, verily, is an evident grace (from Allah)." (An-Naml 27:16)

Narrated By 'Aisha: The Prophet said, "Our (Apostles') property should not be inherited, and whatever we leave, is to be spent in charity." [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 8, Book 80, Hadith #719]

And there were gathered before Sulaiman (Solomon) his hosts of jinns and men, and birds, and they all were set in battle order (marching forwards). (An-Naml 27:17)

-the lesson you learn is that jihad was done by the prophets before Muhammad (saw)
-Sh debated a kaafir who tried to use jihad to look down upon Islam

But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me. (Luke 19:27) King James Version

-the problem with the Christians is we the Muslims know the bible more than them
-every prophet practiced jihad
-this is called the 911 ayah

Verily, Allah has purchased of the believers their lives and their properties; for the price that theirs shall be the Paradise. They fight in Allah's Cause, so they kill (others) and are killed. It is a promise in truth which is binding on Him in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel) and the Qur'an. And who is truer to his covenant than Allah? Then rejoice in the bargain which you have concluded. That is the supreme success. (At-Tawbah 9:111)

-this ayah tells you jihad was done by all the prophets
-Prophet Sulaiman gathered his horses for war, jinn, man..
-He was playing with his horses and forgot salah
-According to Abu Hanifa you have to make it up
-because you owe Allah (swt)
-Hanbali madhab-you make taubah to Allah
-Hanafi-you have to even make up with salah
-Sulaiman missed salatul Asr
-Sulaiman said wallahi he will not play with horses again
-Allah replaced them with jinn
-If you break your wallahi you have to pay atonement
-When you break your oath you have to feed
-10 poor people of average food

Allah will not punish you for what is unintentional in your oaths, but He will punish you for your deliberate oaths; for its expiation (a deliberate oath) feed ten Masakin (poor persons), on a scale of the average of that with which you feed your own families; or clothe them; or manumit a slave. But whosoever cannot afford (that), then he should fast for three days. That is the expiation for the oaths when you have sworn. And protect your oaths (i.e. do not swear much). Thus Allah make clear to you His Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) that you may be grateful. (Al-Ma'idah 5:89)

-Allah wont look at you on judgment day if you say wallahi and lie
-Allah said these are the munafiqeen
-They hide behind wallahi
-they use it to take you away from the path of Allah (swt)
-they use their oath to Con you
-they lie to deceive you

They have made their oaths a screen (for their hypocrisy). Thus they hinder (men) from the Path of Allah. Verily, evil is what they used to do. (Al-Munafiqun 63:2)

The Prophet said, "Whoever has the following four (characteristics) will be a pure hypocrite and whoever has one of the following four characteristics will have one characteristic of hypocrisy unless and until he gives it up. 1. Whenever he is entrusted, he betrays. 2. Whenever he speaks, he tells a lie. 3. Whenever he makes a covenant, he proves treacherous. 4. Whenever he quarrels, he behaves in a very imprudent, evil and insulting manner." [Bukhari, Book 2, Hadith #33]

-Sulaiman was playing with his horses
-because when you are rich you are mesmerized by horses
-rich people ride horses
-poor people own donkeys
-A horse is a proud animal
-when you own sheep and goats you are humble
-horses charge at the enemies with no fear

Narrated By Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "The main source of disbelief is in the east. Pride and arrogance are characteristics of the owners of horses and camels, and those bedouins who are busy with their camels and pay no attention to Religion; while modesty and gentleness are the characteristics of the owners of sheep." [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 4, Book 54, Hadith #520]

By the (steeds) that run, with panting (breath), (Al-'Adiyat 100:1)

Striking sparks of fire (by their hooves), (Al-'Adiyat 100:2)

And scouring to the raid at dawn (Al-'Adiyat 100:3)

And raise the dust in clouds the while, (Al-'Adiyat 100:4)

Penetrating forthwith as one into the midst (of the foe); (Al-'Adiyat 100:5)

-the prophet (saw) prayed fajr and he attacked
-they go to the war at fajr time

Verily! Man (disbeliever) is ungrateful to his Lord; (Al-'Adiyat 100:6)

And to that fact he bears witness (by his deeds); (Al-'Adiyat 100:7)

And verily, he is violent in the love of wealth. (Al-'Adiyat 100:8)

-the ends justify the means
-How is this surah relevant to the tafseer, An-Naml?
-Sulaiman was so embarrassed about missing salatul Asr
-he said wallahi he will not play with them again
-Horses are a barakah of Allah
-when you are entrapped with the dunya, you are going to miss your salah
-His soldiers complained and said "how can you make an oath like that"
-Allah replaced the horses with jinn

And there were gathered before Sulaiman (Solomon) his hosts of jinn and men, and birds, and they all were set in battle order (marching forwards). (An-Naml 27:17)

-so he smiled because he was amused by her speech

Till, when they came to the valley of the ants, one of the ants said: "O ants! Enter your dwellings, lest Sulaiman (Solomon) and his hosts crush you, while they perceive not." (An-Naml 27:18)

So he [Sulaiman (Solomon)] smiled, amused at her speech (An-Naml 27:19)

-the scholars of tafseer agree that it was female ant
-acting upon her motherly instinct
-Allah said it was a female ant
-so if you are a mother and you only love your kids
-and not the kids of other Muslims, you are not a real mother
-you are not women until you give birth
-its better to be a 2nd, 3rd wife until you give birth

A Jamaican women who didn’t give birth is called a mule
-another lesson you learn is the animals,
-they practice brotherhood and sisterhood
-in the animal kingdom we have brotherhood and sisterhood
-the animals have a language by which
-they use to communicate which each other
-animals are able to recognize people
-the ant was able to identify Sulaiman
-so if you have a dog and went away after
-you came back the dog will wag his tail

”None of you will truly believe until you love for your brother what you love for yourself”. (Al-Bukhari)

-you are not a true believer until you love for others what you love for yourself
-because the ant cried out to save the lives of others
-the animals are Muslims

One of the ants said: "O ants! Enter your dwellings, lest Sulaiman (Solomon) and his hosts crush you, while they perceive not." (An-Naml 27:18)

-they act according to Islamic morals, ethics, and ethos
-Khawarijj make takfir on the black dogs
-Khawarijj make takfir on the animals

Whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is on the earth glorifies Allah. And He is the All-Mighty, the All-Wise. (As-Saff 61:1)

There are no kuffaar in the animal kingdom
-Sulaiman smiled at her speech

"My Lord! Inspire and bestow upon me the power and ability that I may be grateful for Your Favours which You have bestowed on me and on my parents, and that I may do righteous good deeds that will please You, and admit me by Your Mercy among Your righteous slaves." (An-Naml 27:19)

1. Sulaiman had a sense of humor

-he was amused by the speech of the animal
-he had human emotions
-even the prophet (saw) had human emotions when his son died

Anas bin Malik reported that: The Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.) entered the room and we accompanied him... And Ibrahim breathed his last. The eyes of Allah's Messenger (S.A.W.) were filled with tears. Abdur Rehman Ibne Auf said: 'you are weeping, O Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.)'. He (S.A.W.) replied: "Ibne Auf, This is mercy". Then he (S.A.W.) said: "Our eyes shed tears and our hearts are filled with grief, but we do not say anything except that by which Allah is pleased. O, Ibrahim we are sorrowful due to your separation." narration has been mentioned in Sahih Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, Sunan Abi Dawood and Sunan Ibne Majah:

2. When he was able to understand her speech, he did not become proud, arrogant, and big headed..

-he became grateful and immediately made a dua
-first thing a believer should do is make a dua
-if you are ungrateful, you lose your barakah
-Sulaiman was the son and David was the father

3. Leave behind a righteous son or daughter to pray for you

The Prophet (SAW) said: "When a person dies, all his deeds come to an end except three: Sadaqah jaariah (ongoing charity, e.g. a waqf or endowment), beneficial knowledge (which he has left behind), or a righteous child who will pray for him." (Reported by al-Tirmidhi, no 1376; he said this is a saheeh Hasan hadeeth)

My Lord! Inspire and bestow upon me the power and ability that I may be grateful for Your Favours which You have bestowed on me (An-Naml 27:19)

4. Bless me so I would use this barakah for good deeds

-not everybody use the barakah of Allah to do good deeds
-look at the barakah of potency
-don’t think everybody use the barakah Allah give them to do good deeds
-some use for poor people, others use for casino etc

The Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.) said: “The son of Adam will not pass away from Allah until he is asked about five things: how he lived his life, and how he utilized his youth, with what means did he earn his wealth, how did he spend his wealth, and what did he do with his knowledge.” [Good hadith reported by Imam At-Tirmidhi]

-barakah of beauty, to have a pretty face...this barakah is so important

The Prophet, upon him be God’s blessings and peace, encouraged Muslims to make a special prayer upon seeing themselves in the mirror: “God, You have endowed me with a good form; like-wise bless me with an immaculate character ”(Ibn Hanbal, Musnad, 1:34, 6:155)

-if you have a pretty face and not character,
-you will use this to seduce people
-this is the shaitan if you don’t have taqwa but only have a pretty face
-some use, misuse, and misuse the barakah of Allah
-barakah of knowledge-people use it to play God
-they use genes to modify food
-when a man has the barakah of knowledge
-sometimes he use it to create mischief on the earth
-there was a shaikh who was with Bashar al-Asad
-he was shot in the head
-If you’re a milk shaikh the Muslims will kill you
-if you have your dodgy fatwas
-some use the barakah of Allah to use good things and bad things
-Allah refers to them as donkeys and dogs

“Those amongst the people receiving the severest punishment on the day of resurrection are the scholar who is not given benefit through his knowledge by Allah.” At-Tabaraanee & Ad-Daarimee

And recite (O Muhammad SAW) to them the story of him to whom We gave Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), but he threw them away, so Shaitan (Satan) followed him up, and he became of those who went astray. (Al-A'raf 7:175)

And had We willed, We would surely have elevated him therewith but he clung to the earth and followed his own vain desire. So his description is the description of a dog: if you drive him away, he lolls his tongue out, or if you leave him alone, he (still) lolls his tongue out. Such is the description of the people who reject Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). So relate the stories, perhaps they may reflect. (Al-A'raf 7:176)

-your the one who call them scholars but you only worship personalities and not Allah

The likeness of those who were entrusted with the (obligation of the) Taurat (Torah) (i.e. to obey its commandments and to practise its legal laws), but who subsequently failed in those (obligations), is as the likeness of a donkey who carries huge burdens of books (but understands nothing from them). How bad is the example (or the likeness) of people who deny the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, signs, revelations, etc.) of Allah. And Allah guides not the people who are Zalimûn (polytheists, wrong-doers, disbelievers, etc.). (Al-Jumu'ah 62:5)

-Rasul (saw) saw people whose lips were cut from scissors made from fire
-because they didn’t practice what Allah gave them
-this dua is for dunya and the aakhirah
-this dua means when you die you have
-to be buried in the graveyards of the Muslims
-its haraam to be buried in the graveyards of the kufaar
-it is ijmaa from the 4 scholars

and admit me by Your Mercy among Your righteous slaves." (An-Naml 27:19)

-if you do that to the Muslims you have oppressed the Muslims
-where you are buried is very important

-If you die in Makkah or medina its a ticket to paradise

“Anyone who died in the Haram is like one who died in the fourth heaven.” (Sahih Bukhari, Ibn Hibban)

-if you die on a Friday that is your ticket to paradise

Abdullah ibn Amr (RA) reported that Allah’s Messenger (SAW) said, “No Muslim dies on the day of Friday or the night of Friday but Allah protects him from the trial in the grave.” [Tirmidhi 1076, Ahmed 6593]

-the Gora brag and boast that they killed Anwar al awlaki on a Friday
-this tells you prophet Sulaiman had a sense of human and emotions

So he [Sulaiman (Solomon)] smiled, amused at her speech (An-Naml 27:19)

-this tells you prophet Sulaiman had a sense of human and emotions
-when you are blessed with knowledge it brings joy to your heart
-if you are ignorant it brings sadness to you heart
-prophets have emotions just like us
-best company is the company of the righteous people

O you who believe! Be afraid of Allah, and be with those who are true (in words and deeds). (At-Tawbah 9:119)

-be in company of the real Muslims not the Fake Muslims
-nothing destroys you quicker than evil company

"Ah! Woe to me! Would that I had never taken so-and-so as a friend! (Al-Furqan 25:28)

The Prophet (saw) said: “A man will follow the religion of his close friend, so let each of you look to who he takes a close friend.” (Narrated by Al-Tirmidhi, 2378)
