Bismillah....

And there were gathered before Sulaiman (Solomon) his hosts of jinns and men, and birds, and they all were set in battle order (marching forwards). (An-Naml 27:17)

Suleiman’s army consisted of jinn, man and birds

-we can learn many lessons from these ayahs, such as:

1. JIHAD WAS MADE INCUMBENT ON ALL PROPHET'S BEFORE THE PROPHET MUHAMMAD (saws)
-we have the Hizbu’ shaitan and Hizbutallah
-the prophets who came before Muhammad also carried out jihad against the infidels

Verily, Allah loves those who fight in His Cause in rows (ranks) as if they were a solid structure. (As-Saff 61:4)

2. WE MUST BE ORDERLY WHEN WE GO TO THE BATTLEFIELD

-Allah doesn't like chaos.. we're to have a single ameer
-only w/ order and unity can we accomplish anything

And obey Allah and His Messenger, and do not dispute (with one another) lest you lose courage and your strength depart, and be patient. Surely, Allah is with those who are As-Sabirin (the patient ones, etc.). (Al-Anfal 8:46)

-our strength leaves us when we're not united
-there are rules for the birds, the jinn, the ants

WHY DIDN'T SULAIMAN HAVE ANY HORSES?
-Allah sang their praises so why didn't he (Sulaiman) have them in his army?

By the (steeds) that run, with panting (breath), (Al-'Adiyat 100:1)

Striking sparks of fire (by their hooves), (Al-'Adiyat 100:2)

And scouring to the raid at dawn (Al-'Adiyat 100:3)

And raise the dust in clouds the while, (Al-'Adiyat 100:4)

Penetrating forthwith as one into the midst (of the foe); (Al-'Adiyat 100:5)

-because once he was playing w/ his horses
-and had such fun that he forgot Asr salah
-so he vowed never to use horses again
-some people are captivated when they play chess
-not only he missed salah because of dunya; we do, too
-when we're at work and busy, we can join our prayers
-[at work, we're classified as travelers]
-we're to be flexible w/ salah so it is not a burden for us
-he said, "WALLAHI I will not come near horses again"
-when we break our wallahi, we must pay atonement
-we're to feed 10 poor people or cloth them
-or free a slave or fast for 3 days

Allah will not punish you for what is unintentional in your oaths, but He will punish you for your deliberate oaths; for its expiation (a deliberate oath) feed ten Masakin (poor persons), on a scale of the average of that with which you feed your own families; or clothe them; or manumit a slave But whosoever cannot afford (that), and then he should fast for three days. That is the expiation for the oaths when you have sworn. And protect your oaths (i.e. do not swear much). Thus Allah make clear to you His Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) that you may be grateful. (Al-Ma'idah 5:89)

-if we don't have the money to feed others, we fast 3 days
-Allah replaced his horses w/ jinn
-to have dominion over the jinn was ONLY for Prophet Sulaiman
-those who do are practicing black magic
-this was a privilege granted by Allah 'tala
-you can be decapitated if you try to use black magic

Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said: “The hadd (prescribed punishment) for the practitioner of magic is a blow with the sword (i.e., execution). (Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 1460; al-Daaraqutni, 3/114; al-Haakim, 4/360; al-Bayhaqi, 8/136; see al-Silsilah al-Da’eefah, 3/641, No. 1446)

3. WE CAN TAKE ANIMALS TO THE BATTLEFIELD

-some armies use dolphins to search the ocean for mines
-Persians used elephants for battle
-many Sahabahs were crushed by the elephants
-we are weak regardless how strong we are
-a man might be 160 lbs and try to rape a girl
-who is 120 lbs and she might kick him
-if between the legs, he will fall from weakness
-in World War 2, they used doves to carry messages
-some dogs are used to get rid of drugs before cops come to their home
-some animals are used for good / some for bad

Till, when they came to the valley of the ants, one of the ants said: "O ants! Enter your dwellings, lest Sulaiman (Solomon) and his hosts crush you, while they perceive not." (An-Naml 27:18)

4. ANIMALS LIKE TO LIVE IN THEIR OWN COMMUNITY

-they can help each other, the same as we can
-the ants were living in a valley called the Valley of Ants
-some of us like to live in neighborhoods according to race
-even the ants lived with their own
-to protect and support each other
-animals live with their own kind
-it is called safety in numbers
-even the ants practice the policy of living with their own kind

"The Devil is like a wolf among humans as a wolf is among sheep; it snatches the stray sheep. So beware of the paths which branch off and adhere to the Jama'ah, the masses and the masjid." (Collected by Imam Ahmad)

Abu Khadeejah: "As for Babar, then this man is an extremist deviant innovator who should not be aided. As for the other person, then I do not know her."

http://forums.islamicawakening.com/f18/abu-khadeejah-gives-fatwa-regarding-babar-ahmad-52172/

Aafia Siddique - our sister in prison in the US from Pakistan
-but Abu Khadijah said he does not know who she is
-the Talafis do not know the ummah - they call Baber Ahmed an extremist
-they are the Khawarijj
-you need to stick with the jama'ah

5. ANIMALS HAVE A LANGUAGE BY WHICH THEY COMMUNICATE W/ EACH OTHER

6. ANIMALS LOOK OUT FOR EACH OTHER, TO SAVE EACH OTHER FROM HARM / DANGER

-they have love and affection, as we do

A Muslim is one whom other people are safe from his tongue and his hand. (Bukhari).

7. THIS WAS A FEMALE ANT ACTING ON HER MOTHERLY INSTINCT

-if you want to be a good woman, you should be a mother and love all kids
-this ant was acting on her own motherly instincts

8. ANIMALS FEAR DEATH, THE WAY WE HUMANS DO
-animals don’t commit suicide
-if you commit suicide you are beneath the animals
-according to Shariah, we're not to kill one animal in front of the other
-it's makrooh
-you are abusing the animal emotionally, physiologically, mentally

9. PROPHET SULAIMAN WOULDN'T KILL THE ANT DELIBERATELY
-you’re only allowed to kill ants when they come into your house
-we’re not to kill them in their natural habitat
-that’s cruelty

10. ANIMALS ARE ABLE TO RECOGNIZE PEOPLE
-they were shouting "Sulaiman and his army are coming!!"
-this tells you animals are able to recognize people
-if a dog misses the master and the master comes back after a year,
-the dog will wag its tail because he recognizes his master

11. SULAIMAN DIDN’T STAY HOME AND SEND HIS SOLDIERS TO FIGHT
-he led by example
-it is Sunnah to lead by example

And (remember) when you (Muhammad SAW) left your household in the morning to post the believers at their stations for the battle (of Uhud). And Allah is All-Hearer, All-Knower. (Aali Imran 3:121)

-the prophet (Saw) did the same
-the Rasul (saw) left the comfort of his house
-to go to the battle field to position the soldiers
-to show them their stations on the battle field

12. YOUR HOME IS A COMFORT ZONE
-when their is an outbreak of fitna, the best place for man is inside the home

13. PROPHETS DO NOT KNOW EVERYTHING
-if Sulaiman should crush you it would have been an accident
-not something he set out to do intentionally, it would have been unintentionally

So he [Sulaiman (Solomon)] smiled, amused at her speech and said: "My Lord! Inspire and bestow upon me the power and ability that I may be grateful for Your Favours which You have bestowed on me and on my parents, and that I may do righteous good deeds that will please You, and admit me by Your Mercy among Your righteous slaves." (An-Naml 27:19)

14. PROPHETS HAVE EMOTIONS LIKE US
-Sulaiman smiled because he had emotions as well
-sometimes the Rasul (saw) would become angry and become red
-sometimes the Rasul (saw) would laugh
-a man slept with his wife in Ramadan and he (saw) said free a slave
-the man said he was the poorest among people
-the prophet (saw) smiled until you could see his teeth
-When his cousin Jafar died, the Rasul (saw) was devastated
-prophets had emotion and feelings just like us
-they suffered disappointments just like us
-Sulaiman was impressed by the brotherhood
-and sisterhood that existed among the ants
-when you have knowledge, you are happy
-knowledge brings happiness and ignorance makes you sad
-when he was able to understand the language of the ants,
-it brought him happiness
-immediately he made a dua
-he wasn't big headed
-Gorur means to be big headed
-a true believer recognizes the barakah of Allah (swt)
-kaafir when he is blessed a barakah he shows off
-with the barakah, oppress people with the barakah

Narrated By Abu Huraira: While we were sitting with the Prophet a man came and said, "O Allah's Apostle! I have been ruined." Allah's Apostle asked what was the matter with him. He replied "I had sexual intercourse with my wife while I was fasting." Allah's Apostle asked him, "Can you afford to manumit a slave?" He replied in the negative. Allah's Apostle asked him, "Can you fast for two successive months?" He replied in the negative. The Prophet asked him, "Can you afford to feed sixty poor persons?" He replied in the negative. The Prophet kept silent and while we were in that state, a big basket full of dates was brought to the Prophet. He asked, "Where is the questioner?" He replied, "I (am here)." The Prophet said (to him), "Take this (basket of dates) and give it in charity." The man said, "Should I give it to a person poorer than I? By Allah; there is no family between its (i.e. Medina's) two mountains who are poorer than I." The Prophet smiled till his pre-molar teeth became visible and then said, 'Feed your family with it." [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 3, Book 31, Hadith #157]

“The best of people during fitnah is a man who takes up the reins of his horse pursuing the enemies of Allah, causing them fear yet they make him fearful too, or a man who secludes himself in the desert fulfilling the rights of Allah upon him.” (Hakim, Sahih)

Narrated By Anas bin Malik: The Prophet said, "Zaid took over the flag and was martyred. Then it was taken by Jafar who was martyred as well. Then 'Abdullah bin Rawaha took the flag but he too was martyred and at that time the eyes of Allah's Apostle were full of tears. Then Khalid bin Al-Walid took the flag without being nominated as a chief (before hand) and was blessed with victory." [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 2, Book 23, Hadith #338]

-some men have the barakah of the tongue
-and they use it to slander and backbite people
-some men have the barakah of potency
-and use it to sleep with a thousand women
-the barakah of wealth, people use it to gamble in casinos
-the barakah of wealth, people use it to buy cocaine
-the barakah of 2 hands, people use it to kill innocent people
-the barakah of the tongue, people use to spread mischief
-not all people use the barakah of Allah the right way
-barakah of the tongue and private parts
-will cause you to end up in the hellfire the most
-the private part is a great barakah for kids

Allah's Apostle said, "Whoever can guarantee (the chastity of) what is between his two jaw-bones and what is between his two legs (i.e. his tongue and his private parts), I guarantee Paradise for him." Bukhari, Volume 8, Book 76, Number 481

-for you to have a righteous child, to pray for you
-when you are dead, this is a Great barakah
-in the Bangladesh community the couple
-doesn't go to bed unless their trying for a baby
-your only allowed the missionary position, others are naughty

Your wives are a tilth for you, so go to your tilth (have sexual relations with your wives in any manner as long as it is in the vagina and not in the anus)(Al-Baqarah 2:223)

This ayah came down because:
-The woman from Madinah wasn't submitting herself to her husband.

15. A BELIEVER SHOULD NOT BE IN THE COMPANY OF THE KUFFAAR WHO ARE UNRIGHTEOUS
-this ayah tells you that a believer shouldn’t be in the company of the kufaar

And whoso obeys Allah and the Messenger (Muhammad SAW), then they will be in the company of those on whom Allah has bestowed His Grace, of the Prophets, the Siddique (those followers of the Prophets who were first and foremost to believe in them, like Abu Bakr Siddiq), the martyrs, and the righteous. And how excellent these companions are! (An-Nisa 4:69)

-if you are a good Muslim, you will try to be among the righteous people
-you cant compare the success of Moses and Muhammed (saw)

Imran bin Hussein said Allah Apostle (saw) said: “The best of my followers are those living in my generation (i.e. my contemporaries) and then those who will follow them and then those who will follow them” (Sahih Bukhari (Arabic/English) Vol. 5 pg.2 No.2)

-if you are a sincere Muslim, you will make a dua
-to Allah (swt) to be among righteous people
-you need righteous friends because a man belongs
-to the religion of his friend
-so choose carefully who you pick as a friend

"Ah! Woe to me! Would that I had never taken so-and-so as a friend! (Al-Furqan 25:28)

The Prophet (saw) said: “A man will follow the religion of his close friend, so let each of you look to who he takes a close friend.” (Narrated by Al-Tirmidhi, 2378)

-your friend either makes you or breaks you
-even in your death you should be in the graveyard with the Muslims
-it is haraam to be buried in the graveyard of the kufaar

16. A REAL ARMY GENERAL INSPECTS HIS ARMY
-he doesn't leave things to chance
-a real army general inspects his army the way Sulaiman did
-you left the person but you did not double check to see if he done his job

He inspected the birds, and said: "What is the matter that I see not the hoopoe? Or is he among the absentees? (An-Naml 27:20)

"I will surely punish him with a severe torment, or slaughter him, unless he brings me a clear reason." (An-Naml 27:21)

-this severe torment meant he would pull out his feathers
-and expose him to the rain and sun
-the feathers are the protection for the animal
-this is the severe torment Sulaiman was talking about

17. ON THE BATTLEFIELD, PUNCTUALITY IS VERY IMPORTANT
-There cannot be any room for errors
-one minute of being late can cause many lives

18. AN ABSENTEE HAS NO DEPUTY
-Why was Sulaiman so upset with this bird?
-the HUDHUD was a water expert
-Ibn Abbas said the bird was a water expert
-the bird could tell Sulaiman where there was water

But the hoopoe stayed not long, he (came up and) said: "I have grasped (the knowledge of a thing) which you have not grasped and I have come to you from Saba' (Sheba) with true news. (An-Naml 27:22)

-only a few minutes the bird was late
-the bird said he would tell Sulaiman why the he was late
-The bird had knowledge that Sulaiman did not have
-the bird was able to gather knowledge from Yemen
-Sulaiman’s palace was in Jerusalem

19. DON'T UNDER-ESTIMATE THE ABILITY OF A BIRD TO TRAVEL FAR
-a bird can travel far
-they can travel from Africa to USA

"I found a woman ruling over them, and she has been given all things that could be possessed by any ruler of the earth, and she has a great throne. (An-Naml 27:23)

20. WOMEN CAN OWN THINGS

-she owned her citizens

21. THE BIRD IS AWARE OF THE SHAITAN AND HIS PLOTS
-this is true of all animals
-they know tawheed

THE MILLION DOLLAR QUESTION:
Why did the bird say: "the woman owned her subjects"?

ANSWER:
Anytime you worship the creation instead of worshipping the creator, Allah,
-you will become an object owned by others
-the only liberation is in Monotheism and your captivation is in Polytheism

THE MISSION OF ISLAM:
1) TAKE PEOPLE AWAY FROM THE SERVITUDE OF MAN TO MAN, TO MAN TO THE CREATOR

2) TAKE US AWAY FROM THE NARROWNESS OF THE DUNYA TO THE VASTNESS OF THE HEREAFTER

-she owned her subjects
-and shirk is captivation
-the one and the only liberation is tawheed

"I found her and her people worshipping the sun instead of Allah, and Shaitan (Satan) has made their deeds fair-seeming to them, and has barred them from (Allah's) Way, so they have no guidance," (An-Naml 27:24)

By the fig, and the olive, (At-Tin 95:1)

By Mount Sinai, (At-Tin 95:2)

And by this city of security (Makkah), (At-Tin 95:3)

Verily, We created man of the best stature (mould), (At-Tin 95:4)

Then We reduced him to the lowest of the low, (At-Tin 95:5)

-even animals recognise tawheed.
-even the animals know that Allah alone deserves to be worshipped
-not even animals commit shirk
-man was reduced to the lowest of the low, because he dabbled in shirk!

They are only like cattle; nay, they are even farther astray from the Path. (i.e. even worst than cattle). (Al-Furqan 25:44)

And from among His Signs are the night and the day, and the sun and the moon. Prostrate not to the sun nor to the moon, but prostrate to Allah Who created them, if you (really) worship Him. (Fussilat 41:37)

-kaafirs, when you checkmate them, they lie their way out

Al-La (this word has two interpretations) [As Shaitan (Satan) has barred them from Allah's Way] so that they do not worship (prostrate before) Allah, or So that they may worship (prostrate before) Allah, Who brings to light what is hidden in the heavens and the earth, and knows what you conceal and what you reveal. (An-Naml 27:25)

22. A GOOD LISTENER IS A GOOD LEARNER

- its bad manners to cut a person off when they are speaking
-the bird investigated her palace thoroughly

23. KNOWLEDGE GIVES YOU CONFIDENCE AND AUTHORITY
- knowledge gives you confidence,
- because knowledge gives confidence and authority.
- the knowledge was "yaqeen" certain, not half truth and half lies.
- if you don’t have sure knowledge
- you cant stand up in front of a thousand people and give a speech!
- the bird was able to speak to Sulaiman with confidence.
- the bird had a better aqeedah than the Shia:
- because he knew that Sulaiman
-didn’t have knowledge of the ghaib [unseen]
- the Shia say their imams have knowledge of the ghaib
- Notice the good manners of Sulaiman, he didn’t interrupt the bird!

And verily, you (O Muhammad SAW) are on an exalted standard of character. (Al-Qalam 68:4)

The prophets have good character.

[Sulaiman (Solomon)] said: "We shall see whether you speak the truth or you are (one) of the liars. (An-Naml 27:27)

24. A PERSON W/ GOOD CHARACTER INVESTIGATES MATTER BEFORE JUDGMENT

- Allah said:

O you who believe! If a rebellious evil person comes to you with a news, verify it, lest you harm people in ignorance, and afterwards you become regretful to what you have done. (Al-Hujurat 49:6)

- the British heard that a Bengali man had links with al-Qaida,
- they went into his house and shot him in the chest!
- when they investigated him they found he was an innocent post-man.
- another man was running for the tube, they shot him 7 times
- because he looked Arab. - he was Brazilian electrician late for work!.
- the prophet Sulaiman was a prophet with a good character.
- people are in Yemen worshipping the sun,
- then Sulaiman has to do something about it.

25. ANIMALS ARE NOT PERFECT / ANIMALS CAN BE KILLED IF THEY STEP OUT OF BOUNDS
- because Allah said: Fight them until there is no fitnah.
- Animals can tell lies.
- fitnah means shirk.

And fight them until there is no more Fitnah (disbelief and polytheism: i.e. worshipping others besides Allah) and the religion (worship) will all be for Allah Alone [in the whole of the world]. But if they cease (worshipping others besides Allah), then certainly, Allah is All-Seer of what they do. (Al-Anfal 8:39)

- so Sulaiman has to do something about it,
- he cannot allow them to continue to worship the sun.
- but first he had to investigate the matter.
