Tafseer Surah Taubah Continues
last ayah we stopped at was ayah 73:

O Prophet (Muhammad SAW)! Strive hard against the disbelievers and the hypocrites, and be harsh against them, their abode is Hell, - and worst indeed is that destination. (At-Tawbah 9:73)

-there are people who claim that we are not allowed to kill the munafiqeen
-but this is the evidence used by the scholars saying you can
-the munafiqeen are worst than the kuffaar
-they pretend to be believers but yet they are your worst enemies
-the MI5, FBI depend on these munafiqeen to destroy the Muslim community
-they the munafiqeen give their wala to the kuffaar

-the Pakistani and Saudi government conspired with Bush in the war against terror
-the Pakistani government gave them land space and air space
-like wise the Saudi regime done the same also
-they are munafiqeen they sided with the kaafir
-if you see a regime siding with the kuffaar and you do not call them kuffaar you become a kaafir
-this is called chain takfeer
-the munafiqeen walk around with the name Muhammad or Abdullah or Abdur Raheem
-and you assume they are Muslims
-yet they are siding with the kuffaar and conspiring against the Muslims
-Allah says:

Verily, the hyprocrites will be in the lowest depths (grade) of the Fire; no helper will you find for them. (An-Nisa 4:145)

-the fake Muslims will be in the bottom of the hell-fire not the kaafir
-you can kill the munafiq but the Imam has to do it
-this is the ijtihad of the Imam not of the layman
-you may see a man drinking alcohol or having a girlfriend etc
-and you call him a munafiq and you kill him, this is wrong, they are not munafiqs

-At the time of the Prophet (SAW) there was a man who always drank:

Narrated By 'Umar bin Al-Khattab: During the lifetime of the Prophet there was a man called 'Abdullah whose nickname was Donkey, and he used to make Allah's Apostle laugh. The Prophet lashed him because of drinking (alcohol). And one-day he was brought to the Prophet on the same charge and was lashed. On that, a man among the people said, "O Allah, curse him ! How frequently he has been brought (to the Prophet on such a charge)!" The Prophet said, "Do not curse him, for by Allah, I know for he loves Allah and His Apostle." [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 8, Book 81, Hadith #771]

-this man was a faasiq (sinner), not a munafiq
-a layperson may assume he knows who is a munafiq but he does not know
-because he calls a faasiq a munafiq
-every munafiq is a faasiq, but not every faasiq is a munafiq
-therefore killing the munafiq is up to the Imam
-A munafiq is the one who says he believes in the 6 pillars of eeman
-yet in his heart he does not believe in any of these things, he has doubt in his heart
-and a munafiq is worse than a kaafir that is why Allah says:

Verily, the hyprocrites will be in the lowest depths (grade) of the Fire; no helper will you find for them. (An-Nisa 4:145)

-verily the munafiq is in the bottom of the hellfire
-if a man cheats on his wife he is not a munafiq
-or if he went to the casino or smokes weed
-you are calling him a munafiq, which you are calling him worse than a kaafir

The Prophet (SAW) said the signs of a munafiq is 4:

The Prophet said, "Whoever has the following four (characteristics) will be a pure hypocrite and whoever has one of the following four characteristics will have one characteristic of hypocrisy unless and until he gives it up.
1. Whenever he is entrusted, he betrays.
2. Whenever he speaks, he tells a lie.
3. Whenever he makes a covenant, he proves treacherous. 4. Whenever he quarrels, he behaves in a very imprudent, evil and insulting manner." [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 1, Book 2, Hadith #33]

-so Allah ta'ala said you should wage jihad against the kuffaar and munafiqeen
-Abu Bakr implemented this to the letter. this was not just for the Prophet they followed after

O you who believe! Be afraid of Allah and give up what remains (due to you) from Riba (usury) (from now onward), if you are (really) believers. (Al-Baqarah 2:278)

-when you read the Quran and were you see 'O PROPHET' do not think it is just for the prophet
-it is for you also

And if you do not do it, then take a notice of war from Allah and His Messenger but if you repent, you shall have your capital sums. Deal not unjustly (by asking more than your capital sums), and you shall not be dealt with unjustly (by receiving less than your capital sums). (Al-Baqarah 2:279)

-so those who say you cannot kill the munafiq they are misguided
-they have not heard about Surah Taubah 9:73

O Prophet (Muhammad SAW)! Strive hard against the disbelievers and the hypocrites, and be harsh against them, their abode is Hell, - and worst indeed is that destination. (At-Tawbah 9:73)

-Abu bakr implanted this to the letter, when he fought Musaylima the false prophet
-the caliphate of Abu Bakr was a great example

They swear by Allah that they said nothing (bad), but really they said the word of disbelief, and they disbelieved after accepting Islam, and they resolved that (plot to murder Prophet Muhammad SAW) which they were unable to carry out, and they could not find any cause to do so except that Allah and His Messenger had enriched them of His Bounty. If then they repent, it will be better for them, but if they turn away, Allah will punish them with a painful torment in this worldly life and in the Hereafter. And there is none for them on earth as a Wali (supporter, protector) or a helper. (At-Tawbah 9:74)

-Medina was known to have hypocrites there
-Julas bin Suwayd was a munafiq and his step-son was a sincere believer
-so who was his step son? Umayr bin sa'ad

l-Amawi said in his Book on Battles, "Muhammad bin Ishaq narrated that Az-Zuhri said that `Abdur-Rahman bin `Abdullah bin Ka`b bin Malik narrated from his father, from his grandfather that he said, `Among the hypocrites who lagged behind (from battle) and concerning whom the Qur'an was revealed, was Al-Julas bin Suwayd bin As-Samit, who was married to the mother of `Umayr bin Sa`d. `Umayr was under the care of Al-Julas. When the Qur'an was revealed about the hypocrites, exposing their practices, Al-Julas said, `By Allah! If this man (Muhammad) is saying the truth, then we are worse than donkeys.' `Umayr bin Sa`d heard him and said, `By Allah, O Julas! You are the dearest person to me, has the most favor on me and I would hate that harm should touch you, more than I do concerning anyone else! You have uttered a statement that if I exposed, will expose you, but if I hide, it will destroy me. One of them is a lesser evil than the other.' So `Umayr went to the Messenger of Allah and told him what Al-Julas said. On realizing this, Al-Julas went to the Prophet and swore by Allah that he did not say what `Umayr bin Sa`d conveyed he said. `He lied on me,' Al-Julas said. Allah sent in his case this verse,

When the Quran revealed the ayahs about the hypocrites
-Julas said if this Muhammad is speaking the truth then we are as donkeys
-Umayr went to the Prophet (SAW) then told him what his step-father said
-then Julas went to the Prophet and swore by Allah and said he did not say that statement
-then that ayah came down
-this topic Shaikh is talking about is called: Asbab al-Nuzul Causes of Revelation

-Julas was a munafiq, and his step son was a true believer his name was Umayr bin Saad
-when Allah revealed the descriptions of the munafiq in the Quran the munafiq
-Julas said that if what that Muhammad is saying is true then we are worse than the donkeys
-Julas went to the Rasool and swore by Allah and said he did not say this statement
-then Allah said they have not believed after they believed this was a statement of kufr
-this was the reason Allah revealed 9:74

They swear by Allah that they said nothing (bad), but really they said the word of disbelief, and they disbelieved after accepting Islam… (At-Tawbah 9:74)

-the munafqeen tried to murder the prophet (SAW)

-it was reported that some men wanted to kill Muhammad (SAW) at the night of Tabuk
-they wanted to do this at night time
-they thought that all they need to do is frighten the camel of the Prophet
-12 men they wore masks and tried to frightened the camel of the Prophet
-so it shows that not all men on the front-line are believers
-they plot and Allah plans and Allah is the best of All planners

It was also said that it was revealed in the case of `Abdullah bin Ubayy who plotted to kill the Messenger of Allah . As-Suddi said, "This verse was revealed about some men who wanted to crown `Abdullah bin Ubayy even if the Messenger of Allah did not agree. ,It was reported that some hypocrites plotted to kill the Prophet , while he was at the battle of Tabuk, riding one night. They were a group of more than ten men. Ad-Dahhak said, "This Ayah was revealed about them.'' In his book, Dala'il An-Nubuwah

Al-Hafiz Abu Bakr Al-Bayhaqi recorded that Hudhayfah bin Al-Yaman said, "I was holding the bridle of the Messenger's camel while `Ammar was leading it, or vise versa. When we reached Al-`Aqabah, twelve riders intercepted the Prophet . When I alerted the Messenger , he shouted at them and they all ran away. The Messenger of Allah asked us,

(Did you know who they were) We said, `No, O Allah's Messenger! They had masks However, we know their horses.' He said,

(They are the hypocrites until the Day of Resurrection. Do you know what they intended) We said, `No.' He said,

(They wanted to mingle with the Messenger of Allah and throw him from the `Aqabah (to the valley).) We said, `O Allah's Messenger! Should you ask their tribes to send the head of each one of them to you' He said,

(No, for I hate that the Arabs should say that Muhammad used some people in fighting and when Allah gave him victory with their help, he commanded that they be killed.) He then said, (O Allah! Throw the Dubaylah at them.) We asked, `What is the Dubaylah, O Allah's Messenger' He said,

(A missile of fire that falls on the heart of one of them and brings about his demise.)'' Abu At-Tufayl said, "Once, there was a dispute between Hudhayfah and another man, who asked him, `I ask you by Allah, how many were the Companions of Al-`Aqabah' The people said to Hudhayfah, `Tell him, for he asked you.' Hudhayfah said, `We were told that they were fourteen men, unless you were one of them, then the number is fifteen! I testify by Allah that twelve of them are at war with Allah and His Messenger in this life and when the witness comes forth for witness. Three of them were pardoned, for they said, `We did not hear the person whom the Messenger sent to announce something, and we did not know what the people had plotted,' for the Prophet had been walking when he said, (Water is scarce, so none among you should reach it before me.) When he found that some people had reached it before him, he cursed them.'''

-even though they covered their faces, the Sahabas recognised their horses and knew who they were

`Ammar bin Yasir narrated in a Hadith collected by Muslim, that Hudhayfah said to him that the Prophet said, (Among my Companions are twelve hypocrites who will never enter Paradise or find its scent, until the camel enters the thread of the needle. Eight of them will be struck by the Dubaylah, which is a missile made of fire that appears between their shoulders and pierces their chest.) This is why Hudhayfah was called the holder of the secret, for he knew who these hypocrites were, since the Messenger of Allah gave their names to him and none else.

it is important when you are doing Tafseer of Surah Taubah you do causes of revelation
1. a munafiq swore by Allah and lied
2. second part of the ayah Allah spoke about the 12 men who wanted to kill the Prophet (SAW)

-why did they do this? because they wanted to crown Abdullah ibn Ubay, this plan did not work
-their fruition did not work

...If then they repent, it will be better for them, but if they turn away, Allah will punish them with a painful torment in this worldly life and in the Hereafter. And there is none for them on earth as a Wali (supporter, protector) or a helper. (At-Tawbah 9:74)

-Allah told us to seek refuge from the night because this is when people choose to do haraam

Say: "I seek refuge with (Allah) the Lord of the daybreak, (Al-Falaq 113:1)

"From the evil of what He has created; (Al-Falaq 113:2)

"And from the evil of the darkening (night) as it comes with its darkness; (or the moon as it sets or goes away). (Al-Falaq 113:3)

"And from the evil of the witchcrafts when they blow in the knots, (Al-Falaq 113:4)

"And from the evil of the envier when he envies." (Al-Falaq 113:5)

Ayshah narrated: Allah’s Messenger looked at the moon and said, “O Ayshah, seek refuge in Allah from the mischief of this, for, it causes darkness when it sets.” [Tirmidhi 3377, Ahmed 24377]

Narrated By Jabir bin Abdullah: Allah's Apostle said, "When night falls (or it is evening), keep your children close to you for the devils spread out at that time. But when an hour of the night elapses, you can let them free. Close the doors and mention the Name of Allah, for Satan does not open a closed door." [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 4, Book 54, Hadith #523]

-seek refuge from envy, black magic, and the night
-because sometimes they envy you and they destroy you

And (remember) when the disbelievers plotted against you (O Muhammad SAW) to imprison you, or to kill you, or to get you out (from your home, i.e. Makkah); they were plotting and Allah too was planning, and Allah is the Best of the planners. (Al-Anfal 8:30)

Surah 3:54 also

And they (disbelievers) plotted [to kill 'Iesa (Jesus)], and Allah planned too. And Allah is the Best of the planners. (Aali Imran 3:54)

-The Kufar and The Munafiqoon plot and Allah plans and Allah is the best of All Planners

...and they could not find any cause to do so except that Allah and His Messenger had enriched them of His Bounty. If then they repent, it will be better for them, but if they turn away, Allah will punish them with a painful torment in this worldly life and in the Hereafter. And there is none for them on earth as a Wali (supporter, protector) or a helper. (At-Tawbah 9:74)

Allah and His Messenger had enriched them of His Bounty: what does this mean?
-the people use to fight and kill each other in Medina, but Muhammad is the bounty in this ayah
-he is a favour to mankind

-if Muhammad (SAW) is the bounty of Allah why are you trying to kill him at the battle of Tabuk?
-because you are ungrateful, this is one of the characteristic of the munafiq
-a munafiq will always have doubts in his heart Allah spoke about them in 2:10

In their hearts is a disease (of doubt and hypocrisy) and Allah has increased their disease. A painful torment is theirs because they used to tell lies. (Al-Baqarah 2:10)

-how can you go to a room where they the Saudi Salafi
-believe in spying on the mujahideen is ok
-they call them khawarij and terrorist
-some people call them talafis = someone who destroys things
-why do you go to these rooms? because you yourself have doubts about Islam yourself
-you are not convinced about the Aqeedah of Ahlul Sunnah wal Jammah
-and when you get caught in these rooms you say, 'you were curious'
-do you not know curiosity killed the cat?
-they are called the evil triangle

Pakistan - state of Brelvis

Saudi Arabia - state of Saudi Salafis

Iran - state of Shi’ites

All three of them do not want the khilafah to come back

And of them are some who made a covenant with Allah (saying): "If He bestowed on us of His Bounty, we will verily, give Sadaqah (Zakat and voluntary charity in Allah's Cause) and will be certainly among those who are righteous." (At-Tawbah 9:75)

-Their promise was a fake promise
-they say if only Allah blessed me with wealth then I would build a masjid
-or fund the mujahideen and spend it fisabilillah and give it as Zakah
-they promise 1,000 things but this is fake, Allah says their promise was just fake
-a munafiq is a phony/dodgy
phony: American English
dodgy: British English
-both means fake choose your pick

Then when He gave them of His Bounty, they became niggardly [refused to pay the Sadaqah (Zakat or voluntary charity)], and turned away, averse. (At-Tawbah 9:76)

-the munafiqeen say when they have wealth they would spend it fisabilillah
-but when they had the wealth, they did not spend a penny
-because they are tight fisted and stingy, they find it difficult to spend in the cause of Allah

So He punished them by putting hypocrisy into their hearts till the Day whereon they shall meet Him, because they broke that (covenant with Allah) which they had promised Him and because they used to tell lies. (At-Tawbah 9:77)

Know they not that Allah knows their secret ideas, and their Najwa[] (secret counsels), and that Allah is the All-Knower of the unseen. (At-Tawbah 9:78)

-ALLAH knows the unseen, He knows what you conceal and reveal
-not a leaf falls from the tree any were in the world without the knowledge of Allah

Those who defame such of the believers who give charity (in Allah's Cause) voluntarily, and those who could not find to give charity (in Allah's Cause) except what is available to them, so they mock at them (believers), Allah will throw back their mockery on them, and they shall have a painful torment. (At-Tawbah 9:79)

-so whenever one is a munafq/kaafir they laugh at the one who gives in charity
-because for them they think you are wasting your money
-they think if you do not have a benefit then what is the point
-they ridicule the one who prays, wears hijaab, has a beard and prays jumm'ah
-they ridicule every aspect of Islam
-they worship money, technology and pleasures of the flesh

And when it is said to them: "Spend of that with which Allah has provided you," those who disbelieve say to those who believe: "Shall we feed those whom, if Allah willed, He (Himself) would have fed? You are only in a plain error." (Ya-Sin 36:47)

When Abu Bakr was spending in the cause if Allah and Abu Jahal seen him giving away
-Abu Jahl laughed and ridiculed Abu Bakr
-he said if it was Qadr of Allah, if they were to find food they would
-if it is not then it Qadr of Allah, so why should I give my wealth, this is what Abu Jahl said
-Abu Jahl said your religion is a bizarre religion to Abu Bakr
-he said he would never embrace Islam, because he will be told
-to give some of his wealth to the poor, he does not want to because it is his hard earned money
-this is when Allah revealed 36:47

So Allah said in Surah Taubah that these munafiqs laugh at the one who spends in Allah’s cause

Whether you (O Muhammad SAW) ask forgiveness for them (hypocrites) or ask not forgiveness for them … (and even) if you ask seventy times for their forgiveness … Allah will not forgive them, because they have disbelieved in Allah and His Messenger (Muhammad SAW). And Allah guides not those people who are Fasiqun (rebellious, disobedient to Allah). (At-Tawbah 9:80)

-Allah said even if you ask Me 70 times for their forgiveness I will never forgive a munafiq
-so do not make dua for them, the munafiq
-and do not waste your time, make dua for something else
-Also like wise Allah said do not ask forgiveness for the kaafir
Allah says in 9:113

It is not (proper) for the Prophet and those who believe to ask Allah's Forgiveness for the Mushrikun (polytheists, idolaters, pagans, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah) even though they be of kin, after it has become clear to them that they are the dwellers of the Fire (because they died in a state of disbelief). (At-Tawbah 9:113)

-so do not think it is just the munafiq Allah said do not pray for
-it is the mushrikeen also, you should not pray for after they die
-if the mushrikeen are alive, you can say 'O Allah Guide them to Islam'
-if the munfiq is alive then you can make dua for him and say
-'O Allah Remove the disease of their Hearts'
-Abu Talib died in the state of shirk
-all the prophet (SAW) could ask was 'O Allah give him the lightest punishment of the hell'
-therefore he will have shoes made out of fire and this will boil his brains

Narrated By Al-Abbas bin 'Abdul Muttalib: That he said to the Prophet "You have not been of any avail to your uncle (Abu Talib) (though) by Allah, he used to protect you and used to become angry on your behalf." The Prophet said, "He is in a shallow fire, and had It not been for me, he would have been in the bottom of the (Hell) Fire." [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 5, Book 58, Hadith #222]

Ibn 'Abbas reported: The Prophet (may peace be upon him) said: Among the inhabitants of the Fire Abu Talib would have the least suffering, and he would be wearing two shoes (of Fire) which would boil his brain. [Sahih Muslim, Book 1, Hadith #0413]

-so those of you have mushrikeen relatives, you cannot ask Allah for them to be removed
-from hell but rather you ask for the lightest punishment in hell
9:133 is the hujjah for this
