AYAH 22

And when the believers saw AlAhzāb (the Confederates), they said: "This is what Allāh and His Messenger (Muhammad SAW) had promised us, and Allāh and His Messenger (Muhammad SAW) had spoken the truth, and it only added to their faith and to their submissiveness (to Allāh). (Al-Ahzab 33:22)

What is the promise the believers are talking about?
- see 2:214

Or think you that you will enter Paradise without such (trials) as came to those who passed away before you? They were afflicted with severe poverty and ailments and were so shaken that even the Messenger and those who believed along with him said, "When (will come) the Help of Allāh?" Yes! Certainly, the Help of Allāh is near! (Al-Baqarah 2:214)

- this is the tafseer the scholars agreed on that 2:214 explains 33:22
- Banu Qurayda broke their treaty and they panicked afterwards
- the enemy above us (Quraysh) and the enemy beneath is (Jews of Banu Qurayda)

When they came upon you from above you and from below you, and when the eyes grew wild and the hearts reached to the throats, and you were harbouring doubts about Allāh. (Al-Ahzab 33:10)

- so 2:214 was the promise spoken about in 33:22
- the test from Allah (SWT) made the ummah have doubts about Allah 'tala
- thinking they were finished, they were scared because of Abu Sufiyan's army
- see 2:100 Allah said:

Is it not (the case) that every time they make a covenant, some party among them throw it aside? Nay! the truth is most of them believe not. (Al-Baqarah 2:100)

AYAH 23

Among the believers are men who have been true to their covenant with Allāh [i.e. they have gone out for Jihād (holy fighting), and showed not their backs to the disbelievers], of them some have fulfilled their obligations (i.e. have been martyred), and some of them are still waiting, but they have never changed [i.e.they never proved treacherous to their covenant which they concluded with Allāh] in the least. (Al-Ahzab 33:23)

THE COVENANT
- to do jihad, fesabilillah
- jihad is a part of our pillars after Shahadah, Salah, Zakah, Saum, Hajj, Jihad
- a sister can go for hajj with a mahram
- the Shaikh who passed a fatawa for sisters is Nasir Tariri

HANBALIS believe we cannot die until we make umrah, as well as hajj
- we might have to go to KSA twice
- the correct opinion is that HAJJ suffices
- umrah is sunnah muakkadah (strongly emphasised)

TAFSEER OF THIS AYAH 23
- Anas Bin an-Nadr did not participate in the Battle of Badr (it bothered him)
- he asked for another opportunity to fight the kuffaar and show his bravery

Narrated By Anas: My uncle Anas bin An-Nadr was absent from the Battle of Badr. He said, "O Allah's Apostle! I was absent from the first battle you fought against the pagans. (By Allah) if Allah gives me a chance to fight the pagans, no doubt. Allah will see how (bravely) I will fight." On the day of Uhud when the Muslims turned their backs and fled, he said, "O Allah! I apologize to You for what these (i.e. his companions) have done, and I denounce what these (i.e. the pagans) have done." Then he advanced and Sad bin Muadh met him. He said "O Sad bin Muadh ! By the Lord of An-Nadr, Paradise! I am smelling its aroma coming from before (the mountain of) Uhud," Later on Sad said, "O Allah's Apostle! I cannot achieve or do what he (i.e. Anas bin An-Nadr) did. We found more than eighty wounds by swords and arrows on his body. We found him dead and his body was mutilated so badly that none except his sister could recognize him by his fingers." We used to think that the following Verse was revealed concerning him and other men of his sort: "Among the believers are men who have been true to their covenant with Allah..." (33.23) His sister Ar-Rubbaya' broke a front tooth of a woman and Allah's Apostle ordered for retaliation. On that Anas (bin An-Nadr) said, "O Allah's Apostle! By Him Who has sent you with the Truth, my sister's tooth shall not be broken." Then the opponents of Anas's sister accepted the compensation and gave up the claim of retaliation. So Allah's Apostle said, "There are some people amongst Allah's slaves whose oaths are fulfilled by Allah when they take them." [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 4, Book 52, Hadith #061]

- he then fought at the Battle of Uhud with zeal and had 80 stab wounds on his body
- he died there and was mutilated and only recognized by his fingers

- OBLIGATION means martyrdom (they embraced it)
- Khalid bin Waleed was still waiting to embrace martyrdom
- but he died on his bed and not happy about it but this was Qadr Allah

Abu Wael narrated when Khalid Ibn Waleed was dying he said: "I sought to be killed in a place where death is usually expected (i.e., the battlefield) but it was decreed for me to die in my bed. There is no deed of mine that gave me greater hope, after [saying] la ilaaha ill-Allah, than a night that I spent with a shield in my hand and it rained until morning, in preparation for raiding the kuffaar." Then he said: "If I die, then look at my weapons and my horse, and give them (for jihad) for the sake of Allah." [Ibn Abi al-Dunya (d. 281 H) in 'Makarim al-Akhlaq' (1/62) No. 177]

- we do not have to be happy about QADR, but we must be patient with it
- if we have 2 kids and one dies, we are not going to be happy about it
- but we must be PATIENT with it
- see 3:145

And no person can ever die except by Allāh's Leave and at an appointed term. And whoever desires a reward in (this) world, We shall give him of it; and whoever desires a reward in the Hereafter, We shall give him thereof. And We shall reward the grateful. (Aali Imran 3:145)

COVENANTS: SALAH, ZAKAH, SAUM, HAJJ, JIHAD
- Hanbalis also add umrah, but it's not fardh
- Anas Bin an-Nadr did not want to be thought of as a coward
- so he was pleased to fight in the Battle of Uhud
- this ayah was revealed for THIS Sahabah

7 MAJOR SINS

Abu Hurayra reported that the Prophet (SAW), said, "Avoid the seven fatal sins." They said, "Messenger of Allah, what are they?" He said, "Associating with Allah, sorcery, killing a soul which Allah has forbidden, except by legal right, consuming usury, consuming the property of an orphan, fleeing on the day of battle and slandering unthinking chaste believing women." [al-Bukhari (2766) and Muslim (89)]

- A real man does NOT go back on his word

MANHOOD IN ISLAM
http://www.authentictauheed.blogspot.com/2011/05/manhood-in-islam-shaikh-faisal.html

…but they have never changed [i.e.they never proved treacherous to their covenant which they concluded with Allāh] in the least. (Al-Ahzab 33:23)

- why did Allah 'tala say they did not change?
- some start off sincere but then become munafiqeen
- Ikhwaanul Muslimeen - they embraced democracy, yet they used to do jihad!
- ‘THEY NEVER CHANGED’ means their intention and their manhaj
- many people are starting off sincere
- with the right aqeedah of ASWJ and the manhaj of JIHAD
- some of us are not prepared to do jihad because we say it is too hard
- so they abandon jihad for democracy (trying to change things from within)
- Allah said:

Except those who believe (in Islāmic Monotheism) and do righteous good deeds, and recommend one another to the truth (i.e. order one another to perform all kinds of good deeds (Al-Ma'rûf)which Allāh has ordained, and abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds (Al-Munkar)which Allāh has forbidden), and recommend one another to patience (for the sufferings, harms, and injuries which one may encounter in Allāh's Cause during preaching His religion of Islāmic Monotheism or Jihād, etc.). (Al-'Asr 103:3)

- not everyone can be STEADFAST
- when the going gets tough, the tough gets going!
- we are not allowed to use democracy to IMPLEMENT SHARIAH
- we cannot use SHIRK to establish ISLAM

Those who abandon Jihad come up with excuses such as
1. we cannot do jihad without a caliph
2. we cannot do jihad without an Islamic State
3. we have a Covenant of Security with the blood-thirsty crusaders

- wherever the Prophet mentioned countries in hadeeth
- the kuffaar are invading those lands (with their drones)
- the kuffaar try to fight Islam to the best of their ability
- they put their tawakkul in drones
- Prophet Esa will come down in Syria so expect drones there

Related on the authority of Thawban that the Prophet (SAW) said: “If you see the black banners coming from the direction of Khurasan, then go to them, even if you have to crawl, because among them will be Allah’s Caliph the Mahdi. [Mustadrak al-Haakim (4/547) No. 8531 and Musnad Ahmad (5/277) No. 22441]

Ibn Abbas narrated the Prophet (SAW) said: 'An army of twelve-thousand will come out of Aden-Abyan. They will give victory to Allah and His messenger; they are the best between myself and them'." [Musnad Ahmad, (Vol. 1, pg. 333) No. 3079 and Tabarani in Al-Kabeer (Vol. 11, pg. 56) No. 11029]
Abu Umamah Al-Bahili (RA) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said,"A group of people from my Ummah shall remain steadfast to the truth; they will continue to fight in obedience to the command of Allah and remain dominant over their enemies. Those who will oppose them shall not do them any harm - except for hardship and hunger. They will remain in this condition until victory (or that the Hour overtakes them).' He was asked, 'O Messenger of Allah (SAW), where are they?' He replied, 'In Al-Quds and its precincts." [Musnad Ahmad (5/269) No. 22374 and al-Mu’jam al-Kabir al-Tabarani (8/145) No. 7643]

Salamah bin Nufail Al-Kindi (RA) said that one day I was sitting with Prophet (SAW) then a person said ”O Prophet of Allah! The value of horse has decreased in the eyes of people and they have left the weapons and they say that Jihad has ended, because battle has ended." On hearing this the Prophet (SAW) faced him and said: "They are lying, fighting has stopped for now and a section (group) of my Ummah will always fight (do Jihad) for the truth. Allah will turn them away from Kufr to Imaan and will give them rizq from amongst them until Qiyamah and until the promise of Allah comes. And Allah has written good in the forehead of horses until Qiyamah. And He has revealed on me that my ruh (soul) will be taken away and you will follow me after dividing into several groups, and you will kill each other. And the center (‘Uqr) of Mumineen (believers) is Ash-Shaam." [Sunan al-Nasa'i (6/214) No. 3561, Musnad Ahmad (4/104) No. 17006, Sahih Ibn Hibban (16/296) No. 7307]

Salamah bin Nufail RA says: The Prophet of Allah (SAW) said: "The center (‘uqr) of Islam is Ash-Shaam." [al-Mu’jam al-Kabir al-Tabarani (7/53) No. 6359, Majma al-Zawaid al-Haythami (10/40) No. 16656, Haythami said that the narrators are trustworthy]

On the authority of Abdullah b. ‘Amr (RA) the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: “There will be a Hijrah after a Hijrah, so the best people on earth are those who keep to the (land of the) Hijrah of Ibrahim (i.e. Al-Shaam).” [Sunan Abu Dawud (3/4) No. 2482, Musnad Ahmad (2/209) No. 6952, Mustadrak al-Haakim (4/533) No. 8497]
...He would then call (that young man) and he will come forward laughing with his face gleaming (with happiness) and it would at this very time that Allah would send Christ, son of Mary, and he will descend at the white minaret in the eastern side of Damascus wearing two garments lightly dyed with saffron and placing his hands on the wings of two Angels. When he would lower his head, there would fall beads of perspiration from his head, and when he would raise it up, beads like pearls would scatter from it... [Sahih Muslim, Book 41, Hadith #7015]

NOT EVERY MALE IS A MAN
- the sincere ones to the covenant are REAL men
- someone with cowardice in his heart cannot be sincere and fulfil the covenant
- they pass dodgy fatawas and theories
- if you preach a false version of Islam, 1,000s will gravitate towards you
- when we do jihad, only a few die

WE NEED TO RESIST TO EXISIT (one of the 13 laws of nature)
- ALLAH SAID:

...And if Allāh did not check one set of people by means of another, the earth would indeed be full of mischief. But Allāh is full of Bounty to the 'Alamīn (mankind, jinns and all that exists). (Al-Baqarah 2:251)

“If you deal in usury (riba) and hang onto the tails of cows, being satisfied with cultivation and ceasing to take part in Jihad, Allah will inflict a humiliation upon you which will not be removed until you return to your religion.” [Reported by Ahmad and Abu Dawud and graded as authentic by Al-Qattan. Al-Hafiz states in Al-Bulugh that the chain of narrators is trustworthy and reliable]

AYAH 24

That Allāh may reward the men of truth for their truth (i.e. for their patience at the accomplishment of that which they covenanted with Allāh), and punish the hypocrites if He will or accept their repentance by turning to them in Mercy. Verily, Allāh is OftForgiving, Most Merciful. (Al-Ahzab 33:24)

A munafiq can become good
- such as a girl falling in love with a Muslim brother in college
- she had doubts in her heart about Islam but eventually, she became a pious sister
- by increasing in knowledge and taqwah, not every munafiq should be punished
- they might make amends and change their ways

AYAH 25

And Allāh drove back those who disbelieved in their rage, they gained no advantage (booty, etc.). Allāh sufficed for the believers in the fighting (by sending against the disbelievers a severe wind and troops of angels). And Allāh is Ever AllStrong, AllMighty. (Al-Ahzab 33:25)

- Allah ta'ala used a strong wind to disperse the kuffaar
- the Prophet said they will never gather an army against us again

Narrated By Sulaiman bin Surd: On the day of Al-Ahzab (i.e. clans) the Prophet said, (After this battle) we will go to attack them (i.e. the infidels) and they will not come to attack us." [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 5, Book 59, Hadith #435]

AYAH 26

And those of the people of the Scripture who backed them (the disbelievers) Allāh brought them down from their forts and cast terror into their hearts, (so that) a group (of them) you killed, and a group (of them) you made captives. (Al-Ahzab 33:26)

Tafseer of Ayah 26:
- who were the people of the scripture? the Jews of Banu Qurayda
- they broke their covenant with the Rasool (SAW)
- he said no one should pray Asr till you reach Banu Qurayda
- some prayed before and some prayed after
- (they interpreted the hadeeth in 2 different ways)
- the Sahabahs thought he wanted them to hurry up

It is related that Ibn 'Umar said, "When the Prophet (SAW), returned to us from the Battle of the Parties (Ahzab), he said, 'No one should pray 'Asr before they get to Banu Qurayza. For some of them 'Asr became due on the way. Some people said, 'We will not pray until we get there.' Others said, 'No, we should do the prayer. That was not what he meant.' This was mentioned to the Prophet and he did not rebuke any of them." [Sahih Bukhari (2/15) No. 946]

The AQL (intellect) was created by Allah ta'ala and yet, it is not perfect
- our AQL is our human intellect
- we suffer disappointments everyday and we say: "I could not see it coming"
- "this one was above me"
- we rely on our AQL so we are disappointed because the AQL is limited

ALLAH SAID:

And they (disbelievers) plotted [to kill 'Iesa (Jesus)], and Allāh planned too. And Allāh is the Best of the planners. (Aali Imran 3:54)

...Allāh brought them down from their forts and cast terror into their hearts, (so that) a group (of them) you killed, and a group (of them) you made captives. (Al-Ahzab 33:26)

The Jews took sides with the kuffaar of Quraysh
- WHO DID MUHAMMAD (SAW) KILL? the men warriors about 800 of them
- WHO WERE THE CAPTIVES? the women and children

- Abdullah ibn Ubay’s opinion was to set Banu Qaynuqa free
- Sa'd ibn Muad said to kill their warriors and take the women and kids as captives
- when Sa'd ibn Muad died, the throne of Allah ta'ala shook
- and 70,000 angels attended his janaza

'Abdallah ibn 'Umar reported, "The Prophet (SAW), said, 'This is (Sa'd ibn Mu'azh), for whom the Throne (of Allah) moved. The doors of Heaven were opened for him and seventy thousand angels participated (in his funeral prayer). (His grave) was compressed and later on was expanded for him'.'' [Musnad al-Bazzar (12/152) No. 5747, Nasa'i in 'Sunan al-Kubra' (1/660) No. 2182, al-Tabarani in 'al-Mu’jam al-Awsat' (2/199) No. 1707 and 'al-Mu’jam al-Kabir' (6/10) No. 5333]

AYAH 27

And He caused you to inherit their lands, and their houses, and their riches, and a land which you had not trodden (before). And Allāh is Able to do all things. (Al-Ahzab 33:27)

- what does "you will inherit a land your feet have not been on before" mean?
- Allah ta'ala is speaking about khabyr

AYAH 28

O Prophet (Muhammad SAW)! Say to your wives: If you desire the life of this world, and its glitter, Then come! I will make a provision for you and set you free in a handsome manner (divorce). (Al-Ahzab 33:28)

When this ayah was revealed, the Prophet (SAW) said to Aisha (RA)
- "I'm giving you a choice to stay with me or go after dunya"
- he had 9 wives when this ayah was revealed
- they were putting financial pressures on him by having financial demands
- so this is the reason for this ayah coming down
- the first wife that he (SAW) approached to give a choice was Aisha (RA)
- he said before you make a decision, consult your parents
- but she said she chose Allah and His Rasool (and the akhirah over dunya)
- she asked him not to tell the other wives her decision, he said he would tell them

Narrated By 'Aisha: (The wife of the Prophet) when Allah's Apostle was ordered to give option to his wives, he started with me, saying, "I am going to mention to you something, but you shall not hasten (to give your reply) unless you consult your parents." The Prophet knew that my parents would not order me to leave him. Then he said, "Allah says: 'O Prophet (Muhammad)! Say to your wives: If you desire the life of this world and its glitter... a great reward." (33.28-29) I said, "Then why I consult my parents? Verily, I seek Allah, His Apostle and the Home of the Hereafter." Then all the other wives of the Prophet did the same as I did. [al-Bukhari (4786) and Muslim (1475)]

- she found it weird to consult her parents on this matter, she chose the hereafter
- the other 8 wives also chose the hereafter, they are the mothers of the believers
- so not every prophet was fortunate like Muhammad (SAW)
- Prophets Lut and Nuh had kaafir wives
- Prophet Lut's own wife stabbed him in the back, she could not make hijrah
- she was attracted to the pomp and glitter of the city
- SOME women prefer to live with a munafiq who is rich
- than a sincere Muslim who is poor

There are many Muslims living in US and Europe that if an Islamic State were raised
- i.e. in Libya, Yemen etc many of them would NOT make hijrah
- they are afraid of their money and where they would live
- but the 7 (or so) men in the cave never wondered about where they would live
- or health insurance, their next meal etc
- today, the ummah worries about jobs, housing, electricity, money, healthcare etc
- the wives of the Prophet chose the aakhirah, but not all prophets were so fortunate
- many in the world now (women) gravitate toward the dunya
- they spend hours in the shopping center, men go and buy what they need then leave
- but women and gay men spends hours shopping!

TAFSEER SURAH KAHF:
http://www.authentictauheed.blogspot.com/2011/11/221-al-kahf-lessons-from-people-of-cave.html

Ibn Umar (RA) narrated the Prophet (SAW) said: “The Dajjal will come to this pond in Marriqanaat (a valley in Madina). Most of the people who follow the Dajjal will be women till a man has to use rope to tie up his mother, daughter, sister and aunt out of fear that they will leave the home to follow the Dajjal. Then Allah will grant victory to the Muslims over the Dajjal so the Muslims will kill the Dajjal and his party who will be the Jews. The Jews will run behind a tree and a stone to hide from the Muslims and the tree and the stone will call out 'O Muslim a Jew is behind me so come and kill him.’" [Musnad Ahmad (2/67) No. 5353 and Tabarani in ‘al-Mu’jam al-Kabir’ (12/307) No. 13197]

On the authority of Hudhayfah (RA) said: “The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: ‘I know what the Dajjaal will bring with him: he will have two rivers flowing. One will clearly look like water and the other will clearly look like blazing fire. If any one of you sees that, let him choose the river which looks like fire, then let him close his eyes and lower his head and drink from it, for it will be cool water.’” [Sahih Muslim (4/2249) No. 2934]

'Abdullah bin 'Umar (RA) said: One day the Messenger of Allah (SAW) mentioned Al-Masih Dajjal (the Antichrist) in the presence of the people and said, "Verily, Allah is not one-eyed but Al-Masih Ad-Dajjal is blind in the right eye which looks like a swollen grape." [al-Bukhari (7127) and Muslim (169)]

- the Dajjal will have one eye, no kids (gay man)
- and men who rule the world now will be followers of him
- they have a gay agenda and an agenda to humiliate the believers
- and all these people follow the dajjal because he will give you the DUNYA
- the UN is a Dajjal organization
- Muslim countries cannot join the UN (it is haraam)

AYAH 29

But if you desire Allāh and His Messenger, and the home of the Hereafter, then verily, Allāh has prepared for AlMuhsināt (gooddoers) amongst you an enormous reward. (Al-Ahzab 33:29)

AYAH 30

O wives of the Prophet! Whoever of you commits an open illegal sexual intercourse, the torment for her will be doubled, and that is ever easy for Allāh. (Al-Ahzab 33:30)

- if the wife of a Prophet had an affair, her punishment would be doubled
- Allah ta'ala grants us forgiveness except for shirk
- e.g. an ordinary woman might spend 2 years in Hellfire for an affair
- so the wife of a prophet would be there 4 years in Hellfire for an affair (example only)

AYAH 31

And whosoever of you is obedient to Allāh and His Messenger SAW, and does righteous good deeds, We shall give her, her reward twice over, and We have prepared for her Rizqan Karima (a noble provision Paradise). (Al-Ahzab 33:31)

On the authority of Anas (RA) who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (SAW) say, "Allah the Almighty has said: ‘O Son of Adam, as long as you invoke Me and ask of Me, I shall forgive you for what you have done, and I shall not mind. O Son of Adam, were your sins to reach the clouds of the sky and you then asked forgiveness from Me, I would forgive you. O Son of Adam, were you to come to Me with sins nearly as great as the Earth, and were you then to face Me, ascribing no partner to Me, I would bring you forgiveness nearly as great as it [too].’" [Sunan Tirmidhi (5/548) No. 3540]
