Bismillah…

The HOLY QUR'AN is the greatest miracle of the Rasool (saws)
-he was blessed w/ many other miracles, but the Qur'an is a LIVING miracle
-that is with us, past, present and future
-when the moon split, the pagans of Makkah witnessed this
-the Sahabah benefitted from the wells springing up @ Hudaibiyya
-but the Quran is EVER-LIVING

It was revealed as the most sacred book, via His best angel, Gabriel,
-to His favorite prophet, Muhammad (saws)
-in the best city (Makkah), during the best month (Ramadan)
-in the best language, Arabic

O you who believe! Observing As-Saum (the fasting) is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may become Al-Muttaqun (the pious - see V.2:2). (Al-Baqarah 2:183)

FASTING WAS ORDAINED FOR US FOR US TO GAIN TAQWA

What is taqwa?
-is to place between yourself and the wrath of Allah (tala) a barrier
-by doing what is fard and abstaining from the haram
-taqwa comes from the root-word, waqa’a meaning to be protected

When we sight the crescent, we must begin fasting then
-and we fast to express gratitude to Allah 'tala for giving us the Holy Qur'an

The traveling person:
-they are not obliged to fast
-we can't force them to fast and it's up to them on their own discretion
-if the fast is laborious (difficult) then they should break their fast
-if their stomach can cope, then they can use discretion to fast

Allah said:

...Allah intends for you ease, and He does not want to make things difficult for you... (Al-Baqarah 2:185)

...And do not kill yourselves (nor kill one another). Surely, Allah is Most Merciful to you. (An-Nisa 4:29)

The traveler and menstruating woman both make up the days they missed in Ramadan
-some women take tablets to postpone their menstruation so they can fast;
-the scholars do NOT say this is haram
-the same is permissible for hajj

Some women miss Ramadan because of breast-feeding and pregnancy
-these are required to give away 150 USD for the whole of Ramadan
-some women miss 3 or 4 Ramadan because of breast-fasting or pregnancy
-we can't require them to make up all these days

Ata' said, "One should break the fast on account of illness, whatever it may be, as Allah has said (in Al-Baqarah 2:184)." And Hasan and Ibrahim said, "concerning the woman who gives suck and the one with child, when they fear about themselves or their child, they should break the fast, then fast on other days. And as to the very old man when he cannot bear fasting. Anas, after he became old, fed one who was needy, for a year or two daily with bread and meat, and broke the fast." [Sahih Bukhari (6/25)]

That they have to feed the poor only, and do not have to make up the fasts. Among the Sahabah, this was the view of Abdullah Ibn Abbas (RA). Ibn Qudamah also narrated this in al-Mughni (3/150) from Ibn 'Umar (RA). Abu Dawood (2318) narrated from Ibn Abbas (RA) and Ali (RA) that this phrase; 'those who can fast with difficulty [Surah al-Baqarah (2):184] was a concession granted to old men and old women who find it difficult to fast, allowing them not to fast and to feed one poor person for each day instead, and the same for pregnant and breastfeeding women if they are afraid. Abu Dawood said, i.e., for their children they may not fast and may feed (the poor) instead.' Al-Nawawi said, 'it’s isnad is hasan.' This was also narrated by al-Bazzar who added at the end, 'Ibn Abbas used to say to a concubine of his who was pregnant: You are like one who cannot fast, so you have to pay the Fidya but you do not have to make up the fasts. Al-Daraqutni classed its isnad as saheeh, as stated by al-Hafiz in al-Talkhees

Ibn Umar was known for his harshness but even he had the opinion
-not to require them to make up all their fasts

Some Sahabah were on a journey; some broke their fasts, others did not
-neither criticized each other
-each person's stomach is different from the other

The Makkan society was full of vices
-they practiced prostitution and other vices, so
-Rasulullah (saw) would go to the cave of Hira and
-contemplate about the condition of the Makkans

Read! In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (all that exists), (Al-'Alaq 96:1)

Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). (Al-'Alaq 96:2)

Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, (Al-'Alaq 96:3)

Who has taught (the writing) by the pen [the first person to write was Prophet Idrees (Enoch)], (Al-'Alaq 96:4)

Has taught man that which he knew not. (Al-'Alaq 96:5)

In the cave, the angel revealed these 5 verses,
-the 1st 5 revealed of the Quran and were revealed on the NIGHT OF POWER

ALLAH said:

And He found you unaware (of the Qur'an, its legal laws, and Prophethood, etc.) and guided you? (Ad-Duha 93:7)

Therefore, our fasting for the whole month is to be thankful
-for revealing the Qur'an to us in this month

THE VIRTUES OF RAMADAN

1. ANYONE WHO FASTS IN RAMADAN w/ FAITH and HOPING FOR ALLAH'S FORGIVENESS, ALL YOUR SINS WILL BE FORGIVEN

Abu Huraira narrated the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: "Whoever fasts Ramadan out of faith and seeking reward, his previous sins will be forgiven." [Sahih Bukhari (1/16) No. 38]

Abu Huraira (RA) narrated the Prophet (SAW) said, "Whoever fasted the month of Ramadan out of sincere Faith (i.e. belief) and hoping for a reward from Allah, then all his past sins will be forgiven, and whoever stood for the prayers in the night of Qadr out of sincere Faith and hoping for a reward from Allah, then all his previous sins will be forgiven." [al-Bukhari (2014) and Muslim (760)]

Abu Huraira narrated the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: “The five daily prayers, Friday prayer to the following Friday prayer, and Ramadan to the following Ramadan are expiations for sins as long as one abstains from major sins." [Sahih Muslim (1/209) No. 233 and Musnad Ahmad (2/400) No. 9186]

2. FASTING IS A SHIELD

Abu Huraira (RA) narrated the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, "When someone is fasting, he should not have sexual relations nor quarrel. If someone fights him or insults him, he should say, 'I am fasting'" [al-Bukhari (1894) and Muslim (1151)]

Abu Huraira (RA) reported the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, "Allah the Exalted and Majestic said: 'Every act of the son of Adam is for him, except As-Siyam (the fasting) which is (exclusively) for Me, and I will reward him for it.' Fasting is a shield. When anyone of you is observing fast, he should neither indulge in obscene language nor should he raise his voice; and if anyone reviles him or tries to quarrel with him, he should say: 'I am fasting.' By Him in Whose Hand the soul of Muhammad is, the breath of one observing Saum is sweeter to Allah than the fragrance of musk. The one who fasts, experiences two joys: he feels pleasure when he breaks the fast. He is joyful by virtue of his fast when he meets his Rubb." [al-Bukhari (1904) and Muslim (1151)]

-we avoid intercourse w/ spouses; avoid abusing people or being insulted;
-if we are, we say "I am fasting"
-during the day of fasting, our voices are low, we don't use foul language,
-when we break our fasts, we feel joy for the accomplishment
-and we will feel joy the day we meet our Lord insha Allah
-the smell from the mouth of a fasting person is sweater than musk

3. THE GATES OF HELL ARE CLOSED, THE GATES OF PARADISE ARE OPENED AND THE SHAYATEEN ARE IN CHAINS

Narrated from Abu Hurayrah (RA) that the Messenger of Allaah (SAW) said: “When Ramadan comes, the gates of Paradise are opened, the gates of Hell are closed, and the devils are chained up.” [al-Bukhari (1899) and Muslim (1079)]

Battle of Badr - on the 17th of Ramadan, commanded by Muhammad (saws)

Allah said:

And (remember) when Shaitan (Satan) made their (evil) deeds seem fair to them and said, "No one of mankind can overcome you this Day (of the battle of Badr) and verily, I am your neighbour (for each and every help)." But when the two forces came in sight of each other, he ran away and said "Verily, I have nothing to do with you. Verily! I see what you see not. Verily! I fear Allah for Allah is Severe in punishment." (Al-Anfal 8:48)

-since the shaytan was able to incite Quraish to fight in Ramadan,
-the hadeeth means the junior shayateen are in chains, not Iblīs

4. THERE IS A GATE IN PARADISE THAT WILL ALLOW THOSE WHO FASTED TO PASS
-there is a gate also for those who did sadaqa and Abu Bakr prayed
-to be called from all the gates

Sahl ibn Sa'd reported that the Prophet (SAW) said, "There is a gate in the Garden called ar-Rayyan which those who fast will enter on the Day of Rising, and none but they will enter it." It will be said, 'Where are the fasters?' They will stand up and none but they will enter it. When they have entered it, it will be closed and no one else will enter it." [al-Bukhari (1896) and Muslim (1152)]

FASTING belongs to Allah 'tala and He gives the reward to whom He (swt) pleases
-other deeds belong to Bani Adam
-Unmarried people should fast to exercise control

5. FASTING INTERCEDES FOR US ON THE DAY OF JUDGMENT

'Abdullah ibn 'Amr reported that the Messenger of Allah (SAW), said: "The fast and the Qur'an are two intercessors for the servant of Allah on the Day of Resurrection. The fast will say: 'O Lord, I prevented him from his food and desires during the day. Let me intercede for him.' The Qur'an will say: 'I prevented him from sleeping at night. Let me intercede for him.' And their intercession will be accepted." [Musnad Ahmad (2/174) No. 6626, Mustadrak al-Haakim (1/740) No. 2036, Shu'ab al-Eman al-Bayhaqi (3/378) No. 1839]

-when we read books on fasting, one will say saum only for Ramadan
-and one will say siyam for regular fasting
-they are both fasting

When we read that the Qur'an or the fast will intercede for us,
-we're not permitted to ask HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE?
-our hands and feet will testify against us and our left leg will testify first
-because when we went to a nightclub or an apartment to do zina,
-so the LEFT leg (which enters toilet first), will testify first AGAINST us
-and the RIGHT leg testify FOR us

18 VIRTUES OF RAMADAN

1. IT KEEPS US IN TOUCH w/ THE HOLY QUR'AN
-we perform salat al-Taraweeh but Shiites don't perform this
-because they say it is a bid'ah of Umar
-so we can't find many Shiites who are hafiz

Umar saw the people praying taraweeh individually and interrupting each other
-so he said to pray all behind the Imam
-so this wasn't a bid'ah but brought about unity in the salah
-one Sahabah said to pray 12 rakat and one said 8 and Umar said 'add together and do 20'.
-someone screamed "Bid’ah Bid’ah" but what Umar did was create unity in the jamm'ah
-don't make this an issue: if you do 8, you did the Sunnah of Muhammad (saw)
-Umar did 20, so if you want to follow his Sunnah, pray 20
-We're not allowed to criticize each other for how many we do

...stick to my Sunnah and the Sunnah of the Rightly-Guided Caliphs. [Related by Aboo Daawood (no. 4607) and by at-Tirmidhi (no. 2676)]

In Makkah and Madina, they do 20 every night + 3 of Witr
-smaller masjids, do 8 rakat and no one criticize those who do 8 (or 20)
-in the west, Shaikh found it's a fitna whether to do 8 or 20
-this is NOT a topic to argue about
-the one who leads taraweeh prayer, should be the MOST knowledgeable of the Qur'an

2. DUE TO TARAWEEH PRAYERS, YOU ARE IN TOUCH WITH ALLAH

3. IT'S A MEANS TO HAVE YOUR SINS FORGIVEN
-we should fast w/ hope and mercy

4. IT'S A GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY FOR YOU TO BECOME HEALTHY
-fasting shrinks our stomachs
-obesity, therefore, doesn't set in on the fasting person

On the authority of Abu Huraira (RA) that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, “Take part in battles, and you will receive booty. Fast, and you will be healthy. Travel and you will find your sustenance.” [al-Mu’jam al-Awsat al-Tabarani (8/174) No. 8312]

Ibn Umar (RA) reported that the Prophet (SAW) said, “The disbeliever eats in seven intestines while the believer eats in one intestine.’ [al-Bukhari (5393) and Muslim (2060)]

Miqdam ibn Ma’dikarib (RA) reported that he heard Allah’s Messenger say, “A man does not fill a vessel worse than his belly. Enough for the son of Adam are a few morsels to keep his back straight. But, if it is unavoidable then let him apportion one third for his food, one-third for his drink and one-third for his breath.” [Sunan Tirmidhi (4/590) No. 2380, Sunan Ibn Majah (4/448) No. 3349, Musnad Ahmad (4/132) No. 17225]

Obesity is not permissible in Islam
-if someone is supposed to weigh 70 kilos but instead weigh 200 lbs,
-this is haram (gluttony)
-we're not to marry MORBIDLY obese people (20% more than they ought to weight)
-the police in UK took a man in custody for EATING HIMSELF TO DEATH

5. IT TEACHES US SABR (patience)
-when we feel the pangs of hunger but do not break the fast before we're supposed to,
-we've learned sabr

And seek help in patience and As-Salat (the prayer) and truly it is extremely heavy and hard except for Al-Khashi'un [i.e. the true believers in Allah - those who obey Allah with full submission, fear much from His Punishment, and believe in His Promise (Paradise, etc.) and in His Warnings (Hell, etc.)]. (Al-Baqarah 2:45)

On the authority of Abu Malik al-Harith bin al-Harith al-Asharee (RA) who said: The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, "Purity is half of iman (faith). ‘al-hamdu lillah (praise be to Allah)’ fills the scales, and ‘subhan-Allah (how far is Allah from every imperfection) and ‘al-hamdulillah (praise be to Allah)’ fill that which is between heaven and earth. And the salah (prayer) is a light, and charity is a proof, and patience is illumination, and the Qur’an is a proof either for you or against you. Every person starts his day as a vendor of his soul, either freeing it or causing its ruin." [Sahih Muslim (1/203) No. 223]

6. IT TEACHES US UNITY
-we don't say "I'll fast other than when the Muslims are fasting,"
-because we all fast together

~United we Stand ~ Divided We Fall~

And hold fast, all of you together, to the Rope of Allah (i.e. this Qur'an), and be not divided among yourselves,... (Aali Imran 3:103)

And obey Allah and His Messenger, and do not dispute (with one another) lest you lose courage and your strength depart, and be patient. Surely, Allah is with those who are As-Sabirin (the patient ones, etc.). (Al-Anfal 8:46)

-we can't accomplish anything without unity

This ayah commands us to
1 Obey Allah 'tala
2 Obey the Prophet
3 Have Unity
4 Have Patience

7. IT ENHANCES THE ISLAMIC BROTHERHOOD AND THE ISLAMIC SISTERHOOD
-we invite each other to our homes to break our fasts

Narrated By Abu Huraira: The worst food is that of a wedding banquet to which only the rich are invited while the poor are not invited. And he who refuses an invitation (to a banquet) disobeys Allah and His Apostle. [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 7, Book 62, Hadith #106]

-the only time we can refuse to go to our Muslim brother/sister's home to break our fast
-is if they earn their living selling porn magazines or sell cocaine
-but if they work at a supermarket that sells alcohol, cigarettes, and condoms
-we can go to their homes to break our fast
-because they are living in darul harb and not doing anything wrong
-so we should accept their invite

Abu Hanifa said we can sell alcohol to the kuffaar in darul harb
-the food of these people is NOT haram and we're not allowed to offend
-our Muslim brothers/sisters
-but if they own a brothel or nightclub, n3m, we can turn down their invitation

8. IT IS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR THE EXPATIATION OF OUR SINS

Abu Qatada narrated the Messenger of Allah (SAW) was asked about fasting the Day of 'Ashura' and said, "It expiates the past year." [Sahih Muslim (2/819) No. 1162 and Musnad Ahmad (5/296) No. 22590]

When we fast on Yaum Ashura, it wipes out all our past sins for 1 year

Abu Qatada reported the Apostle of Allah (SAW) and said: ...Thereupon he (the Messenger of Allah) said: I wish, I were given strength to observe that. Thereafter he said: The observance of three days' fast every Month and that of Ramadan every year is a perpetual fasting. I seek from Allah that fasting on the day of 'Arafa may atone for the sins of the preceding and the coming years and I seek from Allah that fasting on the day of Ashura may atone for the sins of the preceding year. [Sahih Muslim, Book 6, Hadith #2602]

Bismillah...

9. RAMADAN TEACHES OUR CONSCIENCE
-we don't hide behind closed doors and break our fast
-we know Allah 'tala is watching over us
-this 'God-consciousness' allows us to be conscious of
-our fasting and of His (swt)’s presence

10. RAMADAN SEPARATES THE BELIEVERS FROM THE MUNAFIQEEN
-if you're young, healthy and strong, you ought to be fasting
-we're not permitted to marry someone who doesn't fast in Ramadan

Exemptions;
`Ata' said, "One should break the fast on account of illness, whatever it may be, as Allah has said (in Al-Baqarah 2:184)." And Hasan and Ibrahim said, "concerning the woman who gives suck and the one with child, when they fear about themselves or their child, they should break the fast, then fast on other days.

Abu Dawood said, i.e., for their children they may not fast and may feed (the poor) instead.' Al-Nawawi said, 'its isnad is hasan.' This was also narrated by al-Bazzar who added at the end, 'Ibn Abbas used to say to a concubine of his who was pregnant: You are like one who cannot fast, so you have to pay the Fidya but you do not have to make up the fasts. Al-Daraqutni classed its isnad as saheeh, as stated by al-Hafiz in al-Talkhees

-old people, terminally ill, those w/ ulcers or diabetes, the pregnant or nursing women

O you who believe! Eat not up your property among yourselves unjustly except it be a trade amongst you, by mutual consent. And do not kill yourselves (nor kill one another). Surely, Allāh is Most Merciful to you. (An-Nisa 4:29)

-the believers are separated from the hypocrites when fasting

It was narrated that Abu Hurayrah (RA) said: The Prophet (SAW) ascended the minbar and said: “Ameen, ameen, ameen.” It was said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, you ascended the minbar and said, ‘Ameen, ameen, ameen.” He said: “Jibreel (peace be upon him) came to me and said: ‘If Ramadan comes and a person is not forgiven, he will enter Hell and Allah will cast him far away. Say Ameen.’ So I said Ameen. He said: ‘O Muhammad, if both or one of a person’s parents are alive and he does not honour them and he dies, he will enter Hell and Allah will cast him far away. Say Ameen.’ So I said Ameen. He said: ‘If you are mentioned in a person’s presence and he does not send blessings upon you and he dies, he will enter Hell and Allah will cast him far away. Say Ameen.’ So I said Ameen.” [Sahih Ibn Hibban, (3/188) No. 907 and Sahih Ibn Khuzaymah (3/192) No. 1888]

Ali ibn Abu Talib (RA) reported that Allah’s Messenger (SAW) said, “The miser is he before whom I am mentioned but he does not invoke blessings on me.” [Sunan Tirmidhi (5/551) No. 3546, Musnad Ahmad (1/201) No. 1736]

Allāh sends His Salāt (Graces, Honours, Blessings, Mercy, etc.) on the Prophet (Muhammad SAW) and also His angels too (ask Allāh to bless and forgive him). O you who believe! Send your Salāt on (ask Allāh to bless) him (Muhammad SAW), and (you should) greet (salute) him with the Islāmic way of greeting (salutation i.e. As Salāmu 'Alaikum). (Al-Ahzab 33:56)

11. RAMADAN TEACHES US ADAPTABILITY (we’re flexible)
-we can change our routine (how we eat, our early morning meal might be 4:00am)
-this is a guest that comes to us once a year, so we alter how we live,
-the same as we do for any other guest
-we rush to break our fast

Sahl ibn Sad reported that Allah’s Messenger (SAW) said, "The people will remain on the right path as long as they hasten the breaking of the fast." [al-Bukhari (1957) and Muslim (1098)]

Salman bin ‘Aamir Ad Dabbi narrated the Prophet (SAW) said, “When one of you breaks his fast, he should do so with some dates; but if he cannot get any, he should break his fast with water, for it is purifying.” [Sunan Tirmidhi (3/78) No. 695, Sunan Ibn Majah (2/596) No. 1699, Musnad Ahmad (4/18) No. 16276, al-Sunan al-Nasa'i (3/372) No. 3307]

-it is a commandment to break our fast with 3 dates (unless we're too poor to have dates)
-we're to prepare our meals, especially our dates, and arrange to buy them
-or have something sweet: mangos or bananas

12. RAMADAN GIVES US A SENSE OF BELONGING / IDENTITY
-we fast w/ our ummah (KSA = Kingdom of Saudi Arabia) or USA
-those in India and China are also fasting

O you who believe! Observing As-Saum (the fasting) is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may become Al-Muttaqun (the pious - see V.2:2). (Al-Baqarah 2:183)

Fasting people have 2 joys - when we break our fast and when we meet our Lord

13. RAMADAN IS A MEANS FOR GAINING VICTORY OVER THE KUFFAAR
-all the shayateen are in chains then (not Iblīs)

THE BATTLE OF BADR took place in Ramadan and this was a turning point in history
-the Conquest of Spain also happened in Ramadan
-BATTLE OF HITTIN also took place in Ramadan
-Salahuddin al-Ayyubi conquered Jerusalem, 583AH (1187 CE)
-the Knights Templars were cleansed (these were homosexuals)
-and they are now called The Free Masons
-they are those who fight against us in Somalia, Iraq and Afghanistan
-a shaikh who tells you to fight alongside the Free Masons, has become a kaafir
-that shaikh has no al walaa wal baraa

Battle of Ain Jaloot 658AH headed by
-Mahmoud Saifu Deen Qutuz (leader of Egypt at that time)
-was against the Mongols (later called Tartars)

They sent a letter to Mahmoud w/ 3 envoys
-after killing the caliph Mus’tasim who had a Shi’ite as his advisor

O you who believe! Take not as (your) Bitānah (advisors, consultants, protectors, helpers, friends, etc.) those outside your religion (pagans, Jews, Christians, and hypocrites) since they will not fail to do their best to corrupt you. They desire to harm you severely. Hatred has already appeared from their mouths, but what their breasts conceal is far worse. Indeed We have made plain to you the Ayāt (proofs, evidences, verses) if you understand. (Aali Imran 3:118)

The purpose of the letter to Mahmoud was to strike terror in his heart
-the letter called him a 'coward' and he hadn't even gone
-to fight yet, so this was a great insult
-he cut off the heads of the 3 envoys and this rallied the Muslims to fight toward victory
-the letter was insulting but in Islam, we don't kill envoys
-but he killed them because they bragged about turning
-Muslim women into widows and the kids into orphans
-this defeat of the Tartars was the 1st time in their history
-when Soviet Union was defeated by Afghanistan,
-it was the 1st time they were ever defeated

Narrated by An-Nu'man bin Bashir: The Prophet (SAW) said: “The likeness of the believers in their mutual love, mercy and compassion is that of one body; when one part of it suffers, the rest of the body joins it in staying awake and suffering fever.” [al-Bukhaari (6011) and Muslim (2586)]

Those who believe, fight in the Cause of Allāh, and those who disbelieve, fight in the cause of Tāghût (Satan, etc.). So fight you against the friends of Shaitān (Satan); Ever feeble indeed is the plot of Shaitān (Satan). (An-Nisa 4:76)

-The battle of Ain Jaloot was called the "The Moment of Truth"

14. RAMADAN MAKES YOU FEEL THE HUNGER THAT POOR PEOPLE FEEL
-so you become charitable

15. RAMADAN MAKES YOU SAVE BACK ON MONEY / SPENDING
-because we eat and spend less

16. RAMADAN TEACHES YOU SELF-RESTRAINT
-we must make our niyyah (intention) to fast
-I intend to keep the fast today in the month of Ramadan
-wa bisawmi ghadinn nawaiytu min shahri Ramadan
-we must make intention before the adhaan of Fajr; if not, we have no fast for that day

Hafsah (RA) reported the Prophet (SAW) as saying, “He, who has not formed an intention (to fast) before dawn, has not fasted”. [Sunan Tirmidhi (3/108) No. 730, Sunan Abu Dawud (2/329) No. 2454, Sunan al-Nasa'i (4/196) No. 2331, Sunan Ibn Majah (2/598) No. 1700, Sunan Darime (2/12) No. 1698, Musnad Ahmad (6/287) No. 26500]

Our 2 eyes fast also, so we can't look at bad things;
-our 2 ears fast, so we can't listen to backbiting and slander
-we're not to tale-bear or lie
-our hands also fast so we can't steal but we can fight and do jihad
-our 2 feet and our private parts are also fasting so even intercourse
-with our spouse must be AFTER Maghrib
-the same as we change the oil in our car, to keep it road-worthy,
-we must service ourselves by fasting and self-restraint

If we don't fast, we don't retain our Islamic identity

There are 2 roads (flat road takes us to hellfire) but the steep one takes us to Paradise
-fasting in Ramadan is a sort of jihad
-Ramadan teaches you self- restrain
-order for you to learn taqwa

Abu Huraira (RA) narrated the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: “There may be a fasting person who gets nothing more from his fast than hunger and thirst, and there may be a person who prays qiyaam and all he gets from his qiyaam is a sleepless night.” [Musnad Ahmad (2/373) No. 8843, Sunan Ibn Majah (2/591) No. 1690, Sunan Darime (2/390) No. 2720, Sahih Ibn Khuzaymah (3/242) No. 1997]

-the prophet (saw) said: many of you fast and you only gain hunger and thirst
-this is because you were backbiting, slandering and tale bearing

Abu Huraira (RA) narrated the Prophet (SAW) said, "Whoever does not give up forged speech and evil actions, Allah is not in need of his leaving his food and drink (i.e. Allah will not accept his fasting.) [Sahih Bukhari (3/26) No. 1903]

-don't go to rooms that backbite and slander

O you who believe! Be afraid of Allāh, and be with those who are true (in words and deeds). (At-Tawbah 9:119)

-be in the company of REAL Muslims

Mu'adh bin Zuhrah narrated the Prophet (SAW) used to say when he broke his fast:
اللَّهُمَّ لَكَ صُمْتُ، وَعَلَى رِزْقِكَ أَفْطَرْتُ
“Allahumma laka sumtu wa ‘ala rizqika aftartu (O Allah, for You have I fasted and by Your provision I have broken my fast).” [Sunan Abu Dawud (2/306) No. 2358, al-Sunan al-Kubra al-Bayhaqi (4/403) No. 8134]

When breaking our fast we say Allahumma inni laka sumtu wa bika aamantu
-wa 'ala rizq-ika aftartu
-but if you don't know it in Arabic,
-then say, O Allah! I fasted for You and I believe in You and I break my fast with Your sustenance

Sahl ibn Sad reported that Allah’s Messenger (SAW) said, "The people will remain on the right path as long as they hasten the breaking of the fast." [al-Bukhari (1957) and Muslim (1098)]

RUSH TO BREAK YOUR FAST ~ don't be like the Shiite who are slow to go break their fast
-Brevlis don't celebrate EID the same day we do
-they fast that day and this disobeys Allah
-if we fast on EID Day, this is haram; Brevlis do this and they are grave-worshipers

'Ammar bin Yasir (RA) reported: "He who observes the fast on a doubtful day, has in fact disobeyed Abul-Qasim." [Sunan Abu Dawud (2/300) No. 2334, Sunan Tirmidhi (3/70) No. 686, Sunan al-Nasa'i (4/153) No. 2188, Sunan Ibn Majah (2/561) No. 1645, Sunan Darime (2/5) No. 1682]

Yahya related to me from Malik from Zayd ibn Aslam from Ata ibn Yasar that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, "O Allah! Do not make my grave an idol that is worshipped. The anger on those who took the graves of their Prophets as places of prostration was terrible." [Muwatta Malik (1/223) No. 570, Musannaf Abdur Razzaq (1/406) No. 1587, Musnad Ahmad (2/246) No. 7352]

17. IT CONTAINS THE NIGHT OF POWER, LAYLATUL QADR
-on the 27th night of Ramadan
-this night is better than 1000 months of worship
-this day is a gift from Allah 'tala to the Ummah of Muhammad (saw)
-we also get the booty and isnad
-we're the only ones with the chain of transmitters
-reaching back to the Prophet Muhammad (saw)

Those who make up their own ISLAM come to Paltalk,
-having taught themselves Islam in their own bedrooms
-self- taught people are dangerous
-there is someone on Paltalk teaching that,
-people who worship the graves / pray to them are Muslims; this is not true
-but the truth didn't reach him yet so this is why he has this opinion

A mushrik can NOT be a Muslim

Narrated from Anas (RA) that a man said: “O Messenger of Allah, where is my father?” He said: “In Hell.” When he turned away he called him back and said: “My father and your father are in Hell.” [Sahih Muslim (Vol. 1, pg. 191) No. 203]

And (remember) when your Lord brought forth from the Children of Adam, from their loins, their seed (or from Adam's loin his offspring) and made them testify as to themselves (saying): "Am I not your Lord?" They said: "Yes! We testify," lest you should say on the Day of Resurrection: "Verily, we have been unaware of this." (Al-A'raf 7:172)

18. FOR US TO PERFORM UMRAH, WE GET THE BARAKAH OF 1 HAJJ

“When the month of Ramadan arrives, go for ‘umrah, because `umrah in Ramadan is like accompanying me on Hajj.” [Sahîh al-Bukhârî (1764)]
