-374- The Requirements of Jihad (REVISITED)

By Shaikh Abdullah Faisal
08.09.2012 (Night Dars)

NOTES typed by AT-21 and AT-7
Edited and Formatted by AT21/AT7

This is the month of Jihad as many victories of Islam were in this blessed month
-everything in Islam has requirements such as the requirements of salah
-include wudu and a clean place
-jihad is no exception; it has its requirements

-jihad is therefore not required on a kaafir
-a kaafir is called a "dhimmi" if he pays jizyain the Islamic state
-to protect his life and property
-but it is not required of him to come to the battlefield to fight with us
-because emaan is a requirement for jihad

Umar (r.a) saw Muslims doing FARMING and he said leave this for the Jews and Christians
-we need you on the battlefield not farming or to followthe cattle
-this is not the portfolio of a Muslim
-we're to be mujahids on the battlefield being conquerors

Historians wrote about our Sahabah and said they were saints at night (praying)
-and soldiers by day (conquering nations)

Abu Zahraa Qushayri reports from a man of the Qushayr tribe that as Heraclius was leaving for Constantinople, he met with a Roman who had been held captive by the Muslims and who had subsequently escaped. "Tell me about these people," Heraclius asked the man. The man said, "I shall describe them to you as if you are actually looking at them. They are valiant horsemen by day, monks by night and they never take anything from their non-Muslim subjects without paying its full price. They never see anyone without first greeting with Salaam and they remain glued to anyone they meet in combat until the matter is settled." To this, Heraclius remarked, "If what you say is true, they will certainly be the inheritors of this land beneath my feet." [Tarikh al-Tabari (Vol. 3, pg. 602-603)]

Umar ibn Khattab took Christian Arabs to the battlefield
-so they can be taken to the battlefield but they must be:

a) Sympathizers to Islam
-as they were taken to the battlefield in the Battle of Qaadisiyyah

b) They must be foot soldiers (not generals)
-they can't make crucial decisions

c) Their behavior should be able to be monitored and controlled

Those 3 conditions MUST be met in order to use a Christian on the battlefield
-a kaafir went to Muhammad (saw) to fight and he said he was not a believer
-he kept asking to fight but he was turned away; but the 3rd time,
-he took his Shahada, then he went to the battlefield

It has been narrated on the authority of A'isha, wife of the Holy Prophet (SAW), who said: The Messenger of Allah (SAW) set out for Badr. When he reached Harrat-ul-Wabara (a place four miles from Medina) a man met him who was known for his valour and courage. The Companions of the Messenger of Allah (SAW) were pleased to see him. He said: I have come so that I may follow you and get a share from the booty. The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said to him: Do you believe in Allah and His Messenger? He said: No. The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: Go back, I will not seek help from a Mushrik (polytheist). He went on until we reached Shajara, where the man met him again. He asked him the same question again and the man gave him the same answer. He said: Go back. I will not seek help from a Mushrik. The man returned and overtook him at Baida'. He asked him as he had asked previously: Do you believe in Allah and His Messenger? The man said: Yes. The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said to him: Then come along with us. [Sahih Muslim (3/1449) No. 1817]

Emaan is not only a condition for jihad but for salah
-if a kaafir prays salat, he does not get any barakah
-same if they go for hajj or saum

And indeed it has been revealed to you (O Muhammad SAW), as it was to those (Allah’s Messengers) before you: "If you join others in worship with Allah, (then) surely (all) your deeds will be in vain, and you will certainly be among the losers." (Az-Zumar 39:65)

-emaan is also a condition for ribaat (keeping watch over the frontiers of the Muslims)
-this is a very good job for women
-you'd wake up the Muslims when you see the enemies coming
-women make the best spies; no one is better
-this is because they also spy on their husbands to see if they are having an affair

Sahl bin Sa'd (RA) reported: The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, "Observing Ribat (e.g., guarding the Islamic frontier for the sake of Allah) for a single day is far better than the world and all that it contains. A place in Jannah as small as the whip of your horse is far better than the world and all that it contains. An endeavour (fighting) in the Cause of Allah in the evening or in the morning is far better than the world and all that it contains." [al-Bukhari (2892) and Muslim (1881)]

"Verily, Allah accepts only from those who are Al-Muttaqûn (the pious - see V.2:2)." (Al-Ma'idah 5:27)

-in the time of the Prophet, it was required for you to be 15 years old to go do jihad

Ibn Umar (RA) narrated: I was presented before Allah’s Messenger (SAW) for the army when I was fourteen years old. But, he did not enlist me. Then, the next year I was presented to him for the army being fifteen years and he took me. Nafi’ said: I narrated this hadith to Umar ibn Abdul Aziz and he said, “The limit between a minor and a major (is this).” Then he wrote (to his officers) that those who attain the age of fifteen may be given share in spoils of war. [al-Bukhari (2664) and Muslim (1868)]

-the golden chain of hadeeth is from the Rasool to Ibn Umar to Na’fi' to Imam Malik
-a 9 year old can plant an IED today, so this is left up to the judgment of the ameer
-maturity is left up to the ameer's decision because today's wars are technology
-so an IED can be made by a 9 year old and they can use a cell phone to trigger off a bomb
-we can't apply the hadeeth about Ibn Umar being 15 years old
-because we have advanced technology nowadays

-this is a requirement for ALL acts of ibaadah
-jihad, salah, hajj - all need sanity to perform these acts
-everything we do must have intention and an insane person can't make intention (niyyah)
-we must make intention before our salah or else our salat is baatil
-the same for umrah and hajj (we must make our intention)

Umar ibn al-Khattab said, 'I heard the Messenger of Allah (SAW), say, "Actions only go by intentions. Everyone gets what they intend..." [al-Bukhari (1) and Muslim (1907)]

Hanbali fiqh says it's haram to marry a madman
-some hear voices and can be violent
-some scholars say if the madness is MILD you can marry them
-they have needs, too, even if they are mad
-but we're not suggesting that you marry them
-because they can be mild in their insanity but VIOLENT
-then some say you can marry them; they might talk to themselves and smile at themselves
-but Hanbali fiqh is NOT to require people who hear voices
-what if the voices say to boil water and pour it on your face while you're sleeping?

"Who whispers in the breasts of mankind, (An-Nas 114:5)

-there is no blame on the lame
-if you're physically unable, there is no blame on you
-wheelchair bound people are NOT required to leave and fight

Not equal are those of the believers who sit (at home), except those who are disabled (by injury or are blind or lame, etc.), and those who strive hard and fight in the Cause of Allah with their wealth and their lives. Allah has preferred in grades those who strive hard and fight with their wealth and their lives above those who sit (at home). Unto each, Allah has promised good (Paradise), but Allah has preferred those who strive hard and fight, above those who sit (at home) by a huge reward; (An-Nisa 4:95)

No blame or sin is there upon the blind, nor is there blame or sin upon the lame, nor is there blame or sin upon the sick (that they go not forth to war)And whosoever obeys Allah and His Messenger (Muhammad SAW), He will admit him to Gardens beneath which rivers flow (Paradise); and whosoever turns back, He will punish him with a painful torment. (Al-Fath 48:17)

Abdullah ibn Umm Makhtum was blind but he went for jihad
-how can a blind man go for jihad? Heeven carried the flag for the Muslims!
-the Companions are called the UNIQUE QUR'ANIC GENERATION
-they had such taqwa and love for the deen

**you CAN stay home if you are lame, but if you want to go, you can go**

In 1258 C.E. the Tartars entered into Baghdad and killed the caliph, Mus'tasim
-they wrote a letter to the Egyptian ameer, Mahmoud and said their horses were swift,
-but you're a coward
-you can't escape us; we've turned your women into widows and kids into orphans
-we've ransacked Damascus and other cities
-the letter was very nasty and according to the custom, we're not to kill envoys
-3 envoys were sent with this letter so Mahmoud had to chop off their heads
-and placed them outside the gates of the city

Siege of Baghdad

The Christians held a Council and asked if they should support the Muslims or the Tartars
-but the Pope sent a fatwa: SUPPORT THE MUSLIMS
-this battle is called THE MOMENT OF TRUTH
-they met at Ain Jaloot (an oasis with trees, as a perfect place for an ambush)
-the Christians didn't come to the battlefield with the Muslims
-instead they gave them safe passage
-and allowed them to replenish their stocks at their markets
-this battle took place in 1260 C.E. and the Muslims inflicted a humiliating defeat
-and the Tartars had never lost before then
-the Muslims were hiding behind the trees and a small group showed themselves first
-so the Tartars chased the small group first

-it’s relevant because some say, "there is no jihad without a caliph"
-we didn't have a caliph during the Battle of Ain Jaloot
-Mahmoud didn't say we'd fold our arms and surrender because we have no caliph
-so those who say we can't do jihad without a caliph do NOT know their Islamic history

In September 1, 1983, a plane was coming from South Korea to New York
-and it went over the USSR (Soviets) airspace
-there were over 300 passengers on board and the plane was shot down by the Soviets

-many American citizens were on the plane
-Ronald Reagan was the US President at that time
-he said we'd never let this go without revenge so he sent stinger missiles
-to shoot down Soviet helicopters
-Reagan invited the mujahideen to the WHITE HOUSE to sign the papers
-for them to shoot down Soviet helicopters
-Reagan laughed because he knew it was the end of the Soviet Union, which is now Russia
-American weapons were on the battlefield in Afghanistan because of this
-but what Reagan did can be found in the Holy Qur'an

And whosoever fears Allah and keeps his duty to Him, He will make a way for him to get out (from every difficulty). (At-Talaq 65:2)

And He will provide him from (sources) he never could imagine. And He will provide him from (sources) he never could imagine.(At-Talaq 65:3)

Men are territorial
-if you go in their airspace, they will shoot you down
-if you go in their water, they will sink your ship
-Syria recently shot down a Turkish plane

If we FEAR ALLAH, He assures us a way to get out of every single difficulty
-this ayah applies to what Reagan did by supplying weapons
-to shoot down the Soviet helicopters

US President Jimmy Carter
-he said they were a powerful atheist country trying to impose their rule
-on a peaceful Islamic people
-Shaikh bin Baaz jumped on the bandwagon and said JIHAD IS NOW FARDUL AYN (required)
-we didn't have a caliph when he [bin Baaz] passed that fatawa

We've brought you historic evidence that a caliph is not required for jihad

"There's no jihad without a caliph" is a fatwa - but who gave you ijaza to pass a fatwa?

MASCULINITY is not a requirement for jihad : women do jihad all over the world!
-one of the fiercest fighters in Islamic history was UMM AMARA
-because she saved the life of the Rasool (saws) at Uhud

Damrah bin Saeed from his father narrated that some woollen shawls were once brought to Umar Ibn al-Khattab. Amongst them was a very large one of excellent quality. Some people indicated that it was of great value and should be sent to Safiyya bint Ubayd who was recently married to Umar's son Abdullah. However, Umar said, "I shall send it to someone who is more deserving to it, namely Ummu Ammaara Nusayba bint Ka'b about whom I heard the Messenger of Allah (SAW) say, 'Whether it was to the right or to the left, in whichever direction I turned I saw her fighting in my defence."' [Maghazi al-Waqidi (1/271), al-Tabaqaat al-Kubra Ibn Sa’d (8/415), Kanz al-Ummal (13/625-626) No. 37592]

-she was in her 60s when she was on the battlefield
-70 huffadh died in this battlefield (Battle of Yamama)

TO FIGHT THE NAFS IS THE GREATEST JIHAD = this is a fabricated hadeeth

"We have come back from the minor jihad to the major one" someone asked: "What is the major Jihad O Messenger of Allah?" he replied: "Jihad of the nafs," (This report, collected by Bayhaqi is fabricated as mentioned in Mannaar as-Subl of Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah)

Ibn Taymiyyah (rh) said: "This hadith has no sources and nobody whomsoever in the field of Islamic knowledge has narrated it. Jihad against the disbelievers is the most noble of actions and moreover it is the most important action for mankind." [al-Furqan (pg. 56)]

Do you consider the providing of drinking water to the pilgrims and the maintenance of Al-Masjid-al-Haram (at Makkah) as equal to the worth of those who believe in Allah and the Last Day, and strive hard and fight in the Cause of Allah? They are not equal before Allah. And Allah guides not those people who are the Zālimûn (polytheists and wrong-doers). (At-Tawbah 9:19)

-the hadeeth on our nafs being our greatest jihad is SO wrong, it contradicts 9:19
-one of the greatest Scholars of Islam, Ibn-ul-Qayyim said
-this fabricated Hadith is obnoxious.

Abu Sa'ed al-Khudri narrated the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: "The best Jihad is to speak a word of truth to an oppressive ruler." [Sunan Abu Dawud (4/124) No. 4344, Sunan Ibn Majah (5/144) No. 4011, Sunan Tirmidhi (4/471) No. 2174]

On the authority of Jabir: ‘A man said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, which Jihad is the greatest?’ He (SAW) said: “For your feet to blister and your blood to run.” [Sahih Ibn Hibban (10/496) No. 4639]

100 FABRICATED HADEETH can be downloaded here:

Not equal are those of the believers who sit (at home), except those who are disabled (by injury or are blind or lame, etc.), and those who strive hard and fight in the Cause of Allah with their wealth and their lives. Allah has preferred in grades those who strive hard and fight with their wealth and their lives above those who sit (at home). Unto each, Allah has promised good (Paradise), but Allah has preferred those who strive hard and fight, above those who sit (at home) by a huge reward; (An-Nisa 4:95)

4:95 contradicts this fabricated hadeeth
-every hadeeth needs an ISNAAD but this hadeeth has NO isnad(chain of transmitters)

-quoted a hadeeth that says if the women are patient with their husband's polygamy,
-they get the reward of a martyr
-it's found in Tabarani but is classified as weak

Ibn Mas’ood narrated that the Prophet (SAW) said: “Allah has decreed jealousy for women and jihad for men, so whoever bears that with patience out of faith and in the hope of reward will have a reward like that of a martyr.” [al-Tabarani in 'al-Mu’jam al-Kabir' (10/87) No. 10040] (This hadeeth was classed as da’eef (weak) by al-Albaani in Da’eef al-Jaami’ al-Sagheer, no. 1626)

-but we're allowed to use a WEAK hadeeth to encourage you to do good
-we're not allowed to use a fabricated hadeeth

-we can't go to the battlefield without an ameer
-you can go without a caliph, but not without an ameer
-even a simple journey in a car for 3 hours need an ameer there
-or Shaitān is the 3rd person traveling with you

A Muslim leader needs 9 qualities:

-when Abu Bakr held the Shura meeting to decide what to do with those who didn't pay zakah
-some said they would not fight because they took their Shahada
-he told Umar now that you're in Islam, you're a wimp but in jaahiliyyah you were strong

By Allah, I would definitely fight against him who severed prayer from Zakat, for it is the obligation upon the rich. By Allah, I would fight against them even to secure the cord (used for hobbling the feet of a camel) which they used to give to the Messenger of Allah (as Zakat) but now they have withheld it.Umar b. Khattab remarked: By Allah, I found nothing but the fact that Allah had opened the heart of Abu Bakr for (perceiving the justification of) fighting (against those who refused to pay Zakat) and I fully recognized that the (stand of Abu Bakr) was right. [Sahih Muslim, Book 1, Hadith #0029]

Why does an ameer need knowledge?
-because in the Shura meeting, they don't need to accept your opinion,
-so they need to be wise to make decisions on their own
-we do not believe in democracy

And if you obey most of those on earth, they will mislead you far away from Allah’s Path. They follow nothing but conjectures, and they do nothing but lie. (Al-An'am 6:116)

We don’t believe in majoritarianism
-because the Qur'an tells you not to
-so we don’t believe in put up your hand

-Harun ArRashid used to do one year jihad and the next hajj
-and he continued to live his life in this format until he died
-he would stand on his balcony and look at the sky and say
-fall wherever you want to because wherever it is your harvest will reach me

-knowledge without wisdom is a recipe for disaster
-imam Shafi'i passed different fatwa for the same question in 2 different places
-this is wisdom
-Allah said;

He grants Hikmah to whom He pleases, and he, to whom Hikmah is granted, is indeed granted abundant good. But none remember (will receive admonition) except men of understanding. (Al-Baqarah 2:269)

Wisdom is to say and do the right things at the right time in the right place
-and in the right manner
-e.g. a Muslim sister just lost her mother and after few minutes you call her to bed
-this is not wisdom

-the Prophet (saw) was marching to the Battle of Badr
-and decided to encamp at a spot
-so Hubbub ibn Mundhir asked if it was revelation
-because if not he needs to change spot and go to the wells of Badr
-the prophet accepted this
-and on other occasions he corrected the prophet in the battle field and he accepted

In Battle of Badr, the Prophet (SAW) and his Companions were deployed in the nearest place to Badr's wells. But Companion Hubab ibn al-Mundhir (RA) was not satisfied with this. With great politeness he said: "O Messenger of Allah (SAW), has Allah inspired you to choose this very spot or is it stratagem of war and the product of consultation?" The Prophet (SAW) replied: "It is stratagem of war and consultation." Al-Hubab said: "This place is no good; let us go and encamp on the nearest water well and make a basin or reservoir full of water, then destroy all the other wells so that they will be deprived of the water." The Prophet (SAW) approved of his plan and agreed to carry it out. [Ibn Hisham: al-Sirah al-Nabawiyyah, 1/620; Ibn Kathir: al-Sirah al-Nabawiyyah, 2/402; al-Suhayli: al-Rawd al-Anif, 3/62; and al-Tabary: Tarikh al-Umam wa al-Muluk, 2-29]

-the sahabah disobeyed the prophet at the Battle of Uhud
-because they thought the battle had ended
-this caused them to be defeated
-but when the prophet was correcting them he was soft and gentle
-Allah spoke about it;

And by the Mercy of Allah, you dealt with them gently. And had you been severe and harsh hearted, they would have broken away from about you; so pass over (their faults), and ask (Allah’s) Forgiveness for them; and consult them in the affairs. Then when you have taken a decision, put your trust in Allah, certainly, Allah loves those who put their trust (in Him). (Aali Imran 3:159)

Anas Ibn Malik reported: "I served the Messenger of Allah (SAW) for ten years, and, by Allah, he never said to me any harsh word, and he never said to me about a thing as to why I had done that and as to why I had not done that." Abu Rabi' has made this addition (in this narration):" The work which a servant should do." There is no mention of his words" By Allah." [Sahih Muslim (4/1804) No. 2309]

-one day the prophet was distributing the booty and a man shouted Muhammad fear Allah
-the prophet told him you fear Allah because Allah trusted me with his revelation
-Khalid asked to chop off his head

Narrated Abu Saeed al-Khudri: 'Ali bin Abi Talib sent a piece of gold not yet taken out of its ore, in a tanned leather container to Allah's Messenger. The Messenger of Allah distributed that amongst four Persons: 'Uyaina bin Badr, Aqra' bin Habis, Zaid al-Khail and the fourth was either Alqama or Amir bin at-Tufail. On that, one of his companions said, "We are more deserving of this (gold) than these (persons)." When that news reached the Prophet, he said, "Don't you trust me though I am a trustee of the One in the Heavens, and I receive the news of Heaven (i.e. Divine Inspiration) both in the morning and in the evening?" There got up a man with sunken eyes, raised cheek bones, raised forehead, a thick beard, a shaven head and a waist sheet that was tucked up and he said, "O Messenger of Allah, fear Allah!" The Prophet said, "Woe to you! Am I not of all the people of the earth the most entitled to fear Allah?" Then that man went away. Khalid bin al-Walid said, "O Messenger of Allah! Shall I chop his neck off?" The Prophet said, "No, for he may offer prayers." Khalid said, "Numerous are those who offer prayers and say by their tongues (i.e. mouths) what is not in their hearts." Allah's Messenger said, "I have not been ordered (by Allah) to search the hearts of the people or cut open their bellies." Then the Prophet looked at him (i.e. that man) while the latter was going away and said, "From the offspring of this (man there will come out (people) who will recite the Qur'an continuously and elegantly but it will not exceed their throats. (They will neither understand it nor act upon it). They would go out of the religion (i.e. Islam) as an arrow goes through a game's body." I think he also said, "If I should be present at their time I would kill them as the nations a Thamud were killed." [al-Bukhari (4351) and Muslim (1064)]

-then the prophet described this man and what will become of his loin
-these are the Khawarij

-ibn Qayyim said a shaikh is not allowed to pass a fatwa on the ground
-until he has 2 knowledge
-that of Islamic knowledge and that of current events
-the prophet knew fiqhul waaqi when he asked his sahabah to migrate to Abyssinia
-so you are not a good Muslim leader until you have knowledge of fiqhul waaqi

Ibn al-Qayyim (rh) said: The mufti or judge is not able to issue a fatwa or verdict without understanding two things:
(1) Understanding and having a good grasp of reality: he should have a good understanding of what is happening, on the basis of circumstantial evidence and other signs, so that he has a full understanding of it.
(2) Understanding what is required in the light of these circumstances, which means understanding the ruling of Allah that He issued in His book or on the lips of His Messenger concerning this reality, then he should apply the one to the other. [I‘laam al-Muwaqqi‘een, (1/87)]

-the knowledge of jihad is fard ul ayn
-so when you reach 15 years you should go for jihad training

Allah said;

Against them make ready your strength to the utmost of your power, including steeds of war, to strike terror into (the hearts of) the enemies of Allah and your enemies and others besides whom ye may not know but whom Allah doth know. Whatever ye shall spend in the cause of Allah, shall be repaid unto you, and ye shall not be treated unjustly.(Al-Anfal 8:60)

You need to learn Arabic so that you can know the correct translation of the Qur’an
-and avoid the dodgy translations of others

On the authority of ’Umar Ibn Dinar that ’Umar (RA) wrote to Abu Moosa al-Ash’aree (RA) and said: "Learn the Sunnah and learn Arabic; learn the Qur‘an in Arabic for it is Arabic." [Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah (6/116) No. 29914]

Ibn Taymiyyah said: "Moreover, the Arabic language itself is part of Islam, and knowing Arabic is an obligatory duty. If it is a duty to understand the Qur’an and Sunnah, and they cannot be understood without knowing Arabic, then the means that is needed to fulfil the duty is also obligatory.” [Iqtida' as-Sirat al-Mustaqeem (1/527)]

Imam Shafi'i (rh) said: "Every Muslim is obligated to learn the Arabic tongue to the utmost of his power in order [to be able] to profess through it that "There is no Ilah but Allah and Muhammad is His Messenger" and to utter what is mandated upon him, the takbir, and what is commanded, the tasbih, and the tashahhud and others." [al-Risala al-Shafi'i (pg. 47)]

According to a hadith narrated from ’Umar (RA), he said: ("Learn Arabic for it is part of your Religion, and learn how the estate of the deceased should be divided (faraa‘id) for these are part of your Religion."). This command of ’Umar, to learn Arabic and the Sharee’ah combines the things that are needed, for Religion involves understanding words and actions. Understanding Arabic is the way to understand the words of Islâm, and understanding the Sunnah is the way to understand the actions of Islâm…" [Ibn Taymiyyah in 'Iqtida' as-Sirat al-Mustaqeem' (1/527-528)]

Allah said;

Nor (is there blame) on those who came to you to be provided with mounts, and when you said: "I can find no mounts for you," they turned back, while their eyes overflowing with tears of grief that they could not find anything to spend (for Jihad). (At-Tawbah 9:92)

-normally the prophet will attack secretly
-but when he wanted to fight the Romans it was made public
-some sahabah came and wanted to fight but the prophet could not find mount for them
-so they had to go backcrying profusely
-because they missed an opportunity to fight
-and because the prophet said when you kill a kaafir he will take your place in hellfire

Nor (is there blame) on those who came to you to be provided with mounts, and when you said: "I can find no mounts for you," they turned back, while their eyes overflowing with tears of grief that they could not find anything to spend (for Jihad). (At-Tawbah 9:92)

30,000 Muslim men poured into Madina to join the Rasool (saw)
-some young men came but there were no camels or horses to take them to the front-line
-they went back home and cried profusely

It has been narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: "A Kaafir and one who killed him will never be together in the Fire." [Sahih Muslim (3/1505) No. 1891 and Musnad Ahmad (2/397) No. 9152]

-they missed an opportunity to go to the front-line and kill a kaafir
-so he'd take their place in the Hellfire

RAND ISLAM: calling the mujahideen 'terrorists'
-this was made up by the CIA in America
-these people pass dodgy fatwas under RAND ISLAM
-they will say there's no jihad without a caliph

SHAIKH BIN BAAZ FATWA IN SUPPORT OF JIHAD AGAINST SOVIETS: http://studytrueislam.com/islam/history-current-affairs-of-islam/ibn-baazs-fatwa-in-support-of-the-war-against-the-soviets/

-but in 1979, the Soviets invaded Afghan and bin Baaz said it is fard ul ayn
-to do jihad against them
-fardul ayn is an individual duty
-we did not have a caliph in 1979 and no one said bin Baz's fatwa was wrong

So this is a dodgy fatwa and the kuffaar love for you to say these dodgy fatawa
-we're not permitted to pass dodgy fatawa for the kuffaar
-or to side with them when they invade our countries
-the Muslims will KILL MILK SHAIKHS who have dodgy fatwas
-and put the lives and property of the Muslim ummah in jeopardy

If you owe people money, you're to repay them BEFORE jihad (if the jihad is not required)
-a man was going to jihad and the Rasool (saw) asked if he had parents
-he said yes and the Rasool said to 'go back and look after his parents'
-this was an offensive jihad that’s why and not a defensive jihad

Allah said:

Against them make ready your strength to the utmost of your power, including steeds of war, to strike terror into (the hearts of) the enemies, of God and your enemies, and others besides, whom ye may not know, but whom God doth know. Whatever ye shall spend in the cause of God, shall be repaid unto you, and ye shall not be treated unjustly. (Al- Anfal 8:60) [Yusuf Ali]

-"strike terror" is in Yusuf Ali's translation and this is the proper translation
-'turhiboona means to strike terror in Arabic; ask any educated Arab

Don't say we only need tawakkul, not weaponry
-the Rasool (saw) said our strength is in our firepower
-if our enemy knows we have rockets that can flatten their country, they won't mess with us

Uqbah bin Amir (RA) narrated: 'I heard the Messenger of Allah (SAW) and he was on the minbar when he read the verse: "(And make ready against them all you can of power, including steeds of war...) [8:60], Verily strength is in throwing (i.e. shooting), verily strength is in throwing, verily strength is in throwing.” [Sahih Muslim (Vol. 3 pg. 1522) No. 1917]

Bashar Assad had generals defect from his army
-they said they could have taken over Syria but they were running out of ammunition
-those who promised to send ammunition broke their promise
-maybe because of logistics; we're not sure why

Anas ibn Malik reported that someone asked, “O Messenger of Allah, shall I tether it and trust in Allah or untie it and place trust in Allah”? He said, “Tie it and trust in Allah." [Sunan Tirmidhi (4/668) No. 2517, Sahih Ibn Hibban (2/510) No. 731, Shu'ab al-Iman al-Bayhaqi (2/428) No. 1161]

The Rasool (saw) said tie your camel THEN put your trust in Allah 'tala

-what goes up comes down
-what goes around comes around again
-if you fail to prepare, prepare to fail
-opposites attract
-homosexuality is wrong because opposites attract
-like poles (north and north) repel each other
-do not go to the battle without ammunition

Allah said:

O you who believe! Obey Allah and obey the Messenger (Muhammad SAW), and those of you (Muslims) who are in authority. (And) if you differ in anything amongst yourselves, refer it to Allah and His Messenger (SAW), if you believe in Allah and in the Last Day. That is better and more suitable for final determination. (An-Nisa 4:59)

-don't say the British are in charge in India, so you obey the British
-"minkum" (from among us)
-the kuffaar can never be considered from among "us"
-don't put a spin on the ayah to deceive unsuspecting Muslims

Allah's prophet (SAW) said: You should listen to and obey your ruler even if he was an Ethiopian (black) slave whose head looks like a raisin. [Sahih Bukhari, Volume 9, Book 89, Number #256]

On the authority of Abu Najeeh al-’Irbaad ibn Saariyah (RA) who said: The Messenger of Allah (SAW) gave us a sermon by which our hearts were filled with fear and tears came to our eyes. So we said, "O Messenger of Allah! It is as though this is a farewell sermon, so counsel us." He (SAW) said, "I counsel you to have taqwa (fear) of Allah, and to listen and obey [your leader], even if a slave were to become your ameer. Verily he among you who lives long will see great controversy, so you must keep to my Sunnah and to the Sunnah of the Khulafa ar-Rashideen (the rightly guided caliphs), those who guide to the right way. Cling to it stubbornly [literally: with your molar teeth]. Beware of newly invented matters [in the religion], for verily every bidah (innovation) is misguidance." It was related by Abu Dawud and at-Tirmidhi, who said that it was a good and sound hadith.

Some fight for fame, to show off, not to perfect their deen
-don't join the caravan if it's fighting for racism, tribalism, and other "isms"

Those who believe, fight in the Cause of Allah, and those who disbelieve, fight in the cause of Taghut (Satan, etc.). So fight you against the friends of Shaitan (Satan); Ever feeble indeed is the plot of Shaitan (Satan). (An-Nisa 4:76)

Narrated By Abu Musa: A man came to the Prophet and asked, "A man fights for war booty; another fights for fame and a third fights for showing off; which of them fights in Allah's Cause?" The Prophet said, "He who fights that Allah's Word (i.e. Islam) should be superior, fights in Allah's Cause." [al-Bukhari (123) and Muslim (1904)]

-don't jump on anyone's bandwagon
-you'll commit suicide to be in Hellfire forever
-you can't fight for the Pakistani army, or the Libyan army or Assad (taghoot)
-it's haram to waste your life fighting for taghoot
-Abu Hanifa said to learn tawheed is fiqhul akbar

And obey Allah and His Messenger, and do not dispute (with one another) lest you lose courage and your strength depart, and be patient. Surely, Allah is with those who are As-Sabirin (the patient ones, etc.). (Al-Anfal 8:46)

-without unity, we have no strength, and we will fail in our endeavors
-jihad is a serious matter; we can't be divided amongst ourselves
-many times the Muslims failed because they were not united
-don't dispute with each other or lose your courage
-Allah 'tala is with those who have patience

We were supposed to conquer France, the way we conquered Spain
-but we bickered amongst ourselves
-we can't take the murjif to battle
-murjif = person who spreads negativity on the battlefield; they complain about everything

A man named Uthman from Libya might say he is another name from Egypt
-this is because the Israeli Mossad and CIA and Russian KGB have spies on the front-line
-so a good mujahid / mujahidah will give you a kunya (nickname) not a real name
-they have these spies to report back to them on who is in our ummah

Had they marched out with you, they would have added to you nothing except disorder, and they would have hurried about in your midst (spreading corruption) and sowing sedition among you, and there are some among you who would have listened to them. And Allah is the All-Knower of the Zalimûn (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc.). (At-Tawbah 9:47)

So we don't use negative people in the ummah, on front-line
-these people will seek to sow the seeds of discord and disruption
-the unsuspecting Muslims will listen to these murjif
-unsuspecting Muslims are naive but still Muslim
-these murjif will spread fitna
-a munafiq sews seeds of discord, too
-we want quality, not quantity in our front-line material

13. SABR

-some of you have your home as your comfort zone
-but the front-line is not always comfortable
-you'll need SABR to survive: the food is not the same,
-you might sleep on the ground; the weather might be harsh (too hot or too cold)
-some of us do not want to leave our comfort zone even though it is PRESCRIBED FOR US

Jihad (holy fighting in Allah’s Cause) is ordained for you (Muslims) though you dislike it, and it may be that you dislike a thing which is good for you and that you like a thing which is bad for you. Allah knows but you do not know. (Al-Baqarah 2:216)

Sometimes we love something bad for us and hate something good for us
-we embrace cowardice
-the Serbs killed 1 million in Bosnia; Russians killed 3 million in Afghanistan (1980s)
-Italians killed 4 million in Libya; French killed 3 million in Algeria
-no one can kill like the white man: they kill, kill, kill
-they have weapons to do it

-when Muslims fight, few die but when they don’t' fight, millions die
-if you hang on to the tails of the cattle and become content
-and give up jihad, then Allah 'tala will cause disasters upon you
-He doesn't remove the disasters until you return to your deen / jihad

And if Allah did not check one set of people by means of another, the earth would indeed be full of mischief. But Allah is full of Bounty to the 'Alamīn (mankind, jinns and all that exists). (Al-Baqarah 2:251)

If you deal in usury (riba) and hang onto the tails of cows, being satisfied with cultivation and ceasing to take part in Jihad, Allah will inflict a humiliation upon you which will not be removed until you return to your religion.”[Reported by Ahmad and Abu Dawud and graded as authentic by Al-Qattan. Al-Hafiz states in Al-Bulugh that the chain of narrators is trustworthy and reliable]

On the authority of Abu Bakr al-Siddiq that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: “Whenever a people abandon Jihad, Allah envelopes them with His punishment.” [al-Mu'jam al-Awsat al-Tabarani (4/148) No. 3839]

14. TAWAKKUL (trust in Allah)

Those (i.e. believers) unto whom the people (hypocrites) said, "Verily, the people (pagans) have gathered against you (a great army), therefore, fear them." But it (only) increased them in Faith, and they said: "Allah (Alone) is Sufficient for us, and He is the Best Disposer of affairs (for us)." (Aali Imran 3:173)

When the Sahabah were marching to the front-line,
-they were told to fear the large army approaching them
-but they did not fear and put their trust in Allah
-we're to rely on Allah 'tala alone but 1st, we tie our camel THEN we put trust in Allah

Those in Syria are calling out for bullets
-GIA is the armed Islamic group (in Algeria)
-they raped women and killed kids; one woman grabbed on to a beard
-and it came off in her hand; this proves he was a FAKE mujahid
-they were hoping to turn the Algerians against the mujahedeen by reporting
-it was mujahedeen who were raping our women (this was not true)
-so the kuffaar sent hypocrites to try to turn the ummah against the mujahedeen
-impossible to win jihad without nussrah; they go hand in hand
-these hypocrites kill kids to really turn the ummah against the mujahedeen

O you who believe! If you help (in the cause of) Allah, He will help you, and make your foothold firm. (Muhammad 47:7)

1. Shirk
2. Magic
3. Murder
4. Riba
5. Robbing the orphan
6. Slandering a pious Muslimah
7. Running from battlefield

Abu Hurayra reported that the Prophet (SAW), said, "Avoid the seven fatal sins." They said, "Messenger of Allah, what are they?" He said, "Associating with Allah, sorcery, killing a soul which Allah has forbidden, except by legal right, consuming usury, consuming the property of an orphan, fleeing on the day of battle and slandering unthinking chaste believing women." [al-Bukhari (2766) and Muslim (89)]

In Aleppo, the mujahideen chose to make a strategic retreat
-this was because innocent civilians were being killed
-this is not the same as RUNNING from battle

Remind yourself about your aim and objective as to why you're serving in His cause
-on the battlefield / or elsewhere
-constantly purify your intention

Abu Huraira (RA) reported that Allah's Messenger (SAW) said, “The world, with all that it contains, is accursed except for dhikr (the remembrance of Allah) that which pleases Allah; and the religious scholars and seekers of knowledge.'' [Sunan Tirmidhi (4/561) 2322 and Sunan Ibn Majah (5/231) 4112, (Abu Eesa al-Tirmidhi said: this hadeeth is hasan ghareeb)]

-when you come to PalTalk, don't go to dodgy rooms or gravitate toward gossip
-be a SERIOUS student of knowledge, not just sit here - be serious about learning
-this hadeeth reminds us all to purify our intention
-there is a shaytan accompanying those who do not do constant dhikr

And whosoever turns away (blinds himself) from the remembrance of the Most Beneficent (Allah) (i.e. this Qur’an and worship of Allah), We appoint for him Shaitān (Satan devil) to be a Qarīn (an intimate companion) to him. (Az-Zukhruf 43:36)

Recite (O Muhammad SAW) what has been revealed to you of the Book (the Qur’an), and perform As-Salah (Iqamāt as Salāt). Verily, As-Salah (the prayer) prevents from Al-Fahshā' (i.e. great sins of every kind, unlawful sexual intercourse, etc.) and Al-Munkar (i.e. disbelief, polytheism, and every kind of evil wicked deed, etc. and the remembering (praising, etc.) of (you by) Allah (in front of the angels) is greater indeed [than your remembering (praising, etc.) Allah in prayers, etc.]. And Allah knows what you do. (Al-'Ankabut 29:45)

-our daily prayers prevent us from doing haram
-the kuffaar are in the camp of the shaytan,
-so he doesn't work on them as much as he does the Muslim ummah
-the kuffaar follow shaytan to the Hellfire like a lamb to the slaughter
-we need to remain focused

Say (O Muhammad SAW): "Verily, my Salah (prayer), my sacrifice, my living, and my dying are for Allah, the Lord of the 'Alamīn (mankind, jinns and all that exists). (Al-An'am 6:162)

"He has no partner. And of this I have been commanded, and I am the first of the Muslims." (Al-An'am 6:163)

The Companions had brotherhood and they were dying on the battlefield of thirst
-water was rushed in and when given to the first man, he said 'GIVE TO MY BROTHER FIRST'

Habeeb bin Abi Thaabit narrates that Haarith bin Hishaam, Ikrama bin Abi Jahal and Ayaash bin Rabee'ah (RA) were all fatally wounded during the Battle of Yarmook. When Haarith bin Hishaam asked for some water and was about to drink it, Ikrama looked at him. Haarith said, "Give the water to Ikrama." When Ikrama took the water, Ayaash looked at him. Ikrama therefore asked that the water be given to Ayaash. However, before the water could reach Ayaash he had already passed away. By the time the water reached the others, they had also passed away. [Mustadrak al-Haakim (3/270) No. 5058]

-we can't compare ourselves to the Companions in regard to taqwa
-or sincerity and brotherhood
-they had blind Sahabah going for jihad
-we're not required to go for jihad if we are lame / disabled

Not equal are those of the believers who sit (at home), except those who are disabled (by injury or are blind or lame, etc.), and those who strive hard and fight in the Cause of Allah with their wealth and their lives. Allah has preferred in grades those who strive hard and fight with their wealth and their lives above those who sit (at home). Unto each, Allah has promised good (Paradise), but Allah has preferred those who strive hard and fight, above those who sit (at home) by a huge reward; (An-Nisa 4:95)

-but even a blind Sahabah can carry the flag for the Muslims
-and today, our ummah call the mujahideen 'terrorists'
-if we listen to our parents, we will never do jihad
-and we will never make hijrah
-our parents don't want us to die so they don't want us to do jihad
-but when we abandon jihad, millions die, but if we fight, only a few die

BROTHERHOOD is important on the front-line to watch each other's backs
-we don't have time for the labels for a "Pakistani mujahid" and such

Narrated Jabir: 'We were in the company of the Prophet in a Ghazwa. A large number of emigrants joined him and among the emigrants there was a person who used to play jokes (or play with spears); so he (jokingly) stroked an Ansari man on the hip. The Ansari got so angry that both of them called their people. The Ansari said, "Help, O Ansar!" And the emigrant said "Help, O emigrants!" The Prophet came out and said, "What is wrong with the people (as they are calling) this call of the period of Ignorance?”Then he said, "What is the matter with them?" So he was told about the stroke of the emigrant to the Ansari. The Prophet said, "Stop this (i.e. appeal for help) for it is an evil call." Abdullah bin Ubai bin Salul (a hypocrite) said, "The emigrants have called and (gathered against us); so when we return to Medina, surely, the more honorable people will expel there from the meaner," Upon that `Umar said, "O Allah's Prophet! Shall we not kill this evil person (i.e. `Abdullah bin Ubai bin Salul)?" The Prophet) said, "(No), lest the people should say that Muhammad used to kill his companions."' [al-Bukhari (4/183) and Muslim (2584)]

On the authority of Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: "One who defected from obedience (to the Amir) and separated from the main body of the Muslims - if he died in that state - would die the death of one belonging to the days of Jahiliyya (i. e. would not die as a Muslim). One who fights under the banner of a people who is blind (to the cause for which they are fighting. i. e. do not know whether their cause is just or otherwise), who gets flared up with family pride, calls, (people) to fight for their family honour, and supports his kith and kin (i. e. fights not for the cause of Allah but for the sake of this family or tribe) - if he is killed (in this fight), he dies as one belonging to the days of Jahiliyya. Whoso attacks my Ummah (indiscriminately) killing the righteous and the wicked of them, sparing not (even) those staunch in faith and fulfilling not his promise made with those who have been given a pledge of security - he has nothing to do with me and I have nothing to do with him." [Sahih Muslim (3/1477) No. 1848, Musnad Ahmad (2/306) No. 8047, Sunan al-Nasa'i (7/123) No. 4114, Sunan Ibn Majah (5/95) No. 3948]
