When Abraham saw his life coming to a close, he wanted his 2nd son Ishaq (AS) to get married, Ishaq (AS) was the father of the Jews and Ishmael (AS) was the father of the Arabs.

He didn't want Ishaq to marry from the Canaanites, because they were pagans, so he sent a trustworthy servant to Haran (Iraq) to search for a wife for Ishaq (AS).

When the servant arrived, his eyes fell upon Rebekah.

Rebekah bint Bethuel ibn Nahoor.

Nahoor was the brother of Abraham (AS), Abraham (AS) had two brothers, one was called Harran and the other was Nahoor.

Nahoor was the grandfather of Rebekah.

Harran was the father of prophet Lut (AS). So prophet Lut (AS) was the nephew of Prophet Abraham (AS).

Ishaq (AS) got married to Rebekah and she bore him two sons who were twins.

Their names were Esau and Jacob.

when they became adults, ill feelings happened between the two brothers, because the father preferred Jacob and Allah (SWT) chose Jacob to be a prophet.

The psychologists call this 'sibling rivalry'

This sibling rivalry got so strong, that Esau said he would kill Jacob.

According to ahl ul kitab, Ishaq was 40 years old when he got married to Rebekah.

Ishaq (AS) liked to eat meat that was hunted in the wild.

so he told Esau to go out and hunt some food, so Rebekah overheard and told Jacob to slaughter a domestic goat and cook that and asked Ishaq to make a dua for him, because the eyesight of Ishaq (AS) was weak.

Esau returned with the bush meat and gave the meat to the father and his father said 'did you not give me the meat an hour earlier?' Esau realised what happened, and this re-fuelled the sibling rivalry. So Jacob (AS) had to run away, to avoid being killed by Esau.

Rebekah told Jacob (AS) to flee from Canaan and go to Haran in Iraq to go live with her brother Laban

Then Rebekah told Ishaq to endorse her plan and asked Ishaq (AS) to make a du'a for Jacob (AS) before he left home.

Jacob (AS) made the long journey to Haran in Iraq, so due to the long journey he rested on the roadside and used a rock as a pillow


While Jacob (AS) was sleeping during the night, he saw a dream.

In the dream, he saw a ladder from the earth going to the heavens, angels were going up the ladder, and angels were coming down from the ladder.

Jacob woke up and he was very happy with the dream, at the spot where he had the dream, he anointed the rock with oil and called the place 'Bethel' - the house of Allah (SWT).

He laid the foundation stone there for Masjid al-Aqsa.

The interpretation of the dream was that the prophet Muhammad (SAWS) would descend to the SEVEN heavens on the night of Isra and Mi'raj.

When Jacob (AS) arrived at the house of his uncle Laban, he saw two daughters and he remembered his mother's advice, who said marry one of the daughters of Laban.

As the girls in Canaan are not compatible for you as they are pagans.

The elder daughter was Leah and the second daughter's name was Rachel.

Rachel was very pious and very beautiful. in Arabic, Rachel = Rahil.

Leah was weak in her eyesight and ugly.

Jacob (AS) proposed to Rachel and Laban agreed as long as he paid the mahr. The mahr was to look after Laban's sheep for seven years.

After some time elapsed, Laban prepared a feast and invited guests for a huge nikah of Jacob (AS) and Rachel.

But in the night, he sent Leah to consummate the marriage with Jacob (AS), and Jacob (AS) consummated the marriage with the ugly sister. When Jacob (AS) woke up and saw that he consummated the marriage with the ugly sister, he was horrified.

He went to his uncle Laban and said this was deception.

As he proposed to the pretty sister Rachel and not Leah.

Jacob (AS) put his foot down and said he wants Rachel.

Laban had a justification for his deception, he said it is not in our culture when you have 2 daughters in the house, the older girl gets married first, and he was not prepared to go against this culture.

To cool the anger of Jacob (AS), he said you could marry them both but if you do this, the mahr will be to look after the sheep for another seven years.

according to the Shariah of Abraham (AS), a man was allowed to marry two sisters, but according to the Shariah of prophet Muhammad (SAWS), you are not allowed to marry two sisters at the same time.

so Jacob (AS) agreed and married Rachel.

When Jacob (AS) married the two sisters, Laban gave them a gift each. The gift was a slave girl each.
Leah's slave girl was called Zilpah.

Rachel's slave girl was called Bilha.

even though Leah was not beautiful, Allah (SWT) blessed her with many kids.

Her first-born son was called Reuben.

The second was called Simon.

The third was called Levi.

The fourth was called Judah.

The fifth was called Issacher.

The sixth was called Zebulun.

The seventh was a daughter called Dinah.

All this time, Rachel did not give birth to any kids, as she was barren until this time.

So because of this, she was jealous of her sister. So Rachel gave her slave-girl Bilha to Jacob.

Bilha gave birth to two sons Naphtali and Dan.

When Leah saw Jacob impregnated Bilha, she also gave her slave-girl Zilpa to Jacob. so Jacob ended up with four wives.

Two wives and two slave girls.

He impregnated the slave-girl Zilpa and she gave birth to Gad and Asher.

So Rachel prayed to Allah (SWT) and begged Allah (SWT) to remove the obstacles preventing her from getting pregnant. So Allah (SWT) accepted her dua and gave her Joseph (Yusuf) and Benjamin.

in those days, a man was able to go to sleep with his slave-girls and it was not considered zinaa.

And those who guard their chastity (i.e. private parts, from illegal sexual acts) Except from their wives or (the captives and slaves) that their right hands possess, for then, they are free from blame; But whoever seeks beyond that, then those are the transgressors;

(Al-Mu'minun 23:5-7)

Israel = Jacob

Israel means the servant of God.

after Jacob (AS) stayed in Haran for a long time, he asked Laban for permission to go visit his father Ishaq (AS).

Laban hesitated, saying since you arrived, I have experienced nothing but prosperity. Just like when Halima became the wet nurse of the prophet Muhammad (SAWS), she did not want to hand over the prophet (AS) because of the prosperity she received.

Jacob (AS) left Haran without bidding Laban goodbye and he took his four wives and children with him.

On his way to his parents, he met up with his brother Esau, and he gave him 200 female goats and 20 male goats.

200 female sheep, 20 male sheep

30 camels, 40 cows and 2 bulls.

Before he gave Esau the gifts, Esau was happy to see him and he hugged him.

when Arabs see each other, it is the custom to hug each other and when they walk down the road, they hold hands.

when they hold hands, it means they have accepted you as a member of their household.

after giving his brother the gifts, he insisted that his brother accepted these gifts, and his brother accepted and both brothers buried their enmity under the carpet forever.

Esau is the father of the Romans and Jacob is the father of the Jews.

A pagan by the name of Shecham ibn Hamor, when he saw the daughter of Jacob Dinah, he pinned her down and had intercourse with her and then approached her father to propose to his daughter Dinah.

The brothers of Dinah said we couldn't marry you to our sister, as you are not circumcised.

the men in the city were circumcised, on the 3rd day after being circumcised, the pain sunk in, Yusuf and his brothers attacked these men, killed them all, and took their wealth as booty.

Rachel gave birth to two sons Yusuf and Benjamin, as they grew older they became more handsome and more pious.

Due to this, the heart of Jacob inclined towards them.

(Remember) when Yûsuf (Joseph) said to his father: "O my father! Verily, I saw (in a dream) eleven stars and the sun and the moon, I saw them prostrating themselves to me." He (the father) said: "O my son! Relate not your vision to your brothers, lest they arrange a plot against you. Verily! Shaitān (Satan) is to man an open enemy!
When they said: "Truly, Yûsuf (Joseph) and his brother (Benjamin) are loved more by our father than we, but we are 'Usbah (a strong group). Really, our father is in a plain error. "Kill Yûsuf (Joseph) or cast him out to some (other) land, so that the favour of your father may be given to you alone, and after that you will be righteous folk (by intending repentance before committing the sin)." One from among them said: "Kill not Yûsuf (Joseph), but if you must do something, throw him down to the bottom of a well, he will be picked up by some caravan of travellers." They said: "O our father! Why do you not trust us with Yûsuf (Joseph), - when we are indeed his well wishers?" "Send him with us tomorrow to enjoy himself and play, and verily, we will take care of him." He [Ya'qûb (Jacob)] said: "Truly, it saddens me that you should take him away. I fear lest a wolf should devour him, while you are careless of him." They said: "If a wolf devours him, while we are 'Usbah (a strong group) (to guard him), then surely, we are the losers." So, when they took him away, they all agreed to throw him down to the bottom of the well, and We inspired in him:"Indeed, you shall (one day) inform them of this their affair, when they know (you) not." And they came to their father in the early part of the night weeping.

They said:"O our father! We went racing with one another, and left Yûsuf (Joseph) by our belongings and a wolf devoured him; but you will never believe us even when we speak the truth." And they brought his shirt stained with false blood. He said: "Nay, but your ownselves have made up a tale. So (for me) patience is most fitting. And it is Allāh (Alone) Whose help can be sought against that which you assert."

(Yusuf 12:8-18.)

Jacob (AS) knew what the dream meant and knew that Yusuf's (AS) brothers would try to hurt Yusuf (AS) due to 'sibling rivalry'.

Reuben was the brother who said 'don't kill Yusuf' but put him in the well.

the brothers of Yusuf (AS) came at the time of Isha to their father, to tell him what happened to Yusuf (AS).

This was done to hide their crocodile tears in the darkness of the night.

And there came a caravan of travellers; they sent their water-drawer, and he let down his bucket (into the well). He said: "What good news! Here is a boy." So they hid him as merchandise (a slave). And Allāh was the All-Knower of what they did.

(Yusuf 12:19)

The brothers of Yusuf (AS) dumped him in the well with no shirt on his back. So the men in the caravan drawled water from the well and found Yusuf (AS).

Jacob (AS) cried and cried for the loss of Yusuf (AS), until he became blind as Yusuf was his favourite child.

And he turned away from them and said: "Alas, my grief for Yûsuf (Joseph)!" And he lost his sight because of the sorrow that he was suppressing. They said: "By Allāh! You will never cease remembering Yûsuf (Joseph) until you become weak with old age, or until you be of the dead." He said: "I only complain of my grief and sorrow to Allāh, and I know from Allāh that which you know not.

(Yusuf 12:84-86)

How did prophet Jacob (AS) know the brothers of Yusuf (AS) were lying about the wolf devouring Yusuf (AS)?

The answer was the shirt of Yusuf (AS) did not have a scratch on it, if you were telling the truth; the shirt would have been in tatters.

And [Yûsuf (Joseph)] told his servants to put their money (with which they had bought the corn) into their bags, so that they might know it when they go back to their people, in order that they might come back. So, when they returned to their father, they said: "O our father! No more measure of grain shall we get (unless we take our brother). So send our brother with us, and we shall get our measure and truly we will guard him." He said: "Can I entrust him to you except as I entrusted his brother [Yûsuf (Joseph)] to you a foretime? But Allāh is the Best to guard, and He is the Most Merciful of those who show mercy." And when they opened their bags, they found their money had been returned to them. They said: "O our father! What (more) can we desire? This, our money has been returned to us, so we shall get (more) food for our family, and we shall guard our brother and add one more measure of a camel's load. This quantity is easy (for the king to give)." 

He [Ya'qûb (Jacob)] said: "I will not send him with you until you swear a solemn oath to me in Allāh's Name, that you will bring him back to me unless you are yourselves surrounded (by enemies, etc.)," And when they had sworn their solemn oath, he said: "Allāh is the Witness over what we have said."

(Yusuf 12:62-66)

And he said: "O my sons! Do not enter by one gate, but enter by different gates, and I cannot avail you against Allāh at all. Verily! The decision rests only with Allāh. In him, I put my trust and let all those that trust, put their trust in Him." And when they entered according to their father's advice, it did not avail them in the least against (the Will of) Allāh, it was but a need of Ya'qûb's (Jacob) inner-self which he discharged. And verily, he was endowed with knowledge because We had taught him, but most men know not. And when they went in before Yûsuf (Joseph), he betook his brother (Benjamin) to himself and said: "Verily!I am your brother, so grieve not for what they used to do." 

So when he had furnished them forth with their provisions, he put the (golden) bowl into his brother's bag, then a crier cried: "O you (in) the caravan! Surely, you are thieves!" They, turning towards them, said: "What is it that you have missed?" They said: "We have missed the (golden) bowl of the king and for him who produces it is (the reward of) a camel load; I will be bound by it." They said: "By Allāh! Indeed you know that we came not to make mischief in the land, and we are no thieves!" They [Yûsuf's (Joseph) men] said: "What then shall be the penalty of him, if you are (proved to be) liars."

(Yusuf 12: 67-74)

They [Yûsuf's (Joseph) brothers] said: "The penalty should be that he, in whose bag it is found, should be held for the punishment (of the crime). Thus we punish the Zālimûn (wrong-doers, etc.)!" So he [Yûsuf (Joseph)] began (the search) in their bags before the bag of his brother. Then he brought it out of his brother's bag. Thus did We plan for Yûsuf (Joseph). He could not take his brother by the law of the king (as a slave), except that Allāh willed it. (So Allāh made the brothers to bind themselves with their way of "punishment, i.e. enslaving of a thief") We raise to degrees whom We please, but over all those endowed with knowledge is the All-Knowing (Allāh).

(Yusuf 12:75-76)

When Yusuf (AS) served his brothers with the food, he returned the money back to them. He then asked them 'where is your other brother?' and said there will be no more food for you if you do not bring him with you the next time you come. However when the brothers of Yusuf asked their father to allow Benjamin to come with them back to Egypt, he asked them why should he trust them with Benjamin when they betrayed his trust with Yusuf. This was because the believer is not bit in the same hole twice.

Why did Jacob (AS) tell his sons to enter through different gates? some scholars state that the sons of Jacob were handsome and he did not want them to get the evil eye. Another tafsir is that not all of his sons will be wiped out in case they were killed.

The brothers of Yusuf (AS) followed the Shariah of Abraham (AS). The Shariah you practice, that is your Deen.

"O my sons! Go you and enquire about Yûsuf (Joseph) and his brother, and never give up hope of Allāh's Mercy. Certainly no one despairs of Allāh's Mercy, except the people who disbelieve."

(Yusuf 12:87)

When the brothers of Yusuf went back to Jacob and told him that Benjamin was held back due to the theft of the king's bowl, so he told them to go back to Egypt to look for both Yusuf and his brother.

Then, when they entered unto him [Yûsuf (Joseph)], they said: "O ruler of the land! A hard time has hit our family, and us and we have brought but poor capital, so pay us full measure and be charitable to us. Truly, Allāh does reward the charitable." He said: "Do you know what you did with Yûsuf (Joseph) and his brother, when you were ignorant?" They said: "Are you indeed Yûsuf (Joseph)?" He said: "I am Yûsuf (Joseph), and this is my brother (Benjamin). Allāh has indeed been gracious to us. Verily, he who fears Allāh with obedience to Him (by abstaining from sins and evil deeds, and by performing righteous good deeds), and is patient, then surely, Allāh makes not the reward of the Muhsinûn (good-doers - see V.2:112) to be lost." They said: "By Allāh! Indeed Allāh has preferred you above us, and we certainly have been sinners." He said: "No reproach on you this day, may Allāh forgive you, and He is the Most Merciful of those who show mercy!

(Yusuf 12: 88-92)

When the brothers of Yusuf went back to Egypt to buy more food, Yusuf finally exposed himself to them, so they found out it was Yusuf. They realised that Allah (SWT) preferred Yusuf to them, as they left him to die in the well, and he became the minister of finance in a powerful country such as Egypt. so they saw how Allah (SWT) raised the prestige of Yusuf.

"Go with this shirt of mine, and cast it over the face of my father, he will become clear-sighted, and bring to me all your family." And when the caravan departed, their father said: "I do indeed feel the smell of Yûsuf (Joseph), if only you think me not a dotard (a person who has weakness of mind because of old age)." 

They said: "By Allāh! Certainly, you are in your old error." Then, when the bearer of the glad tidings arrived, he cast it (the shirt) over his face, and he became clear-sighted. He said: "Did I not say to you, 'I know from Allāh that which you know not.'" They said: "O our father! Ask forgiveness (from Allāh) for our sins, indeed we have been sinners." He said: "I will ask my Lord for forgiveness for you, verily He! Only He is the Oft-Forgiving, the Most Merciful."

(Yusuf 12:93-98.)

Then, when they entered unto Yûsuf (Joseph), he betook his parents to himself and said: "Enter Egypt, if Allāh wills, in security." And he raised his parents to the throne and they fell down before him prostrate. And he said: "O my father! This is the interpretation of my dream a foretime! My Lord has made it come true! He was indeed good to me, when He took me out of the prison, and brought you (all here) out of the Bedouin-life, after Shaitān (Satan) had sown enmity between my brothers and me. Certainly, my Lord is the Most Courteous and Kind unto whom He will. Truly He! Only He is the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.

(Yusuf 12:99-100)

When Jacob (AS) and Rachel entered Egypt, Yusuf treated them with respect. Therefore, his parents and his brothers bowed down to him as a matter of respect.

When Jacob (AS) was on his deathbed, he advised his sons to hold on to tawheed.

And this (submission to Allāh, Islām) was enjoined by Ibrāhim (Abraham) upon his sons and by Ya'qûb (Jacob), (saying), "O my sons! Allāh has chosen for you the (true) religion, then die not except in the Faith of Islām (as Muslims - Islāmic Monotheism)." Or were you witnesses when death approached Ya'qûb (Jacob)? When he said unto his sons, "What will you worship after me?" They said, "We shall worship your Ilāh (God - Allāh), the Ilāh (God) of your fathers, Ibrāhim (Abraham), Ismā'il (Ishmael), Ishāque (Isaac), One Ilāh (God), and to Him we submit (in Islām)."

(Al-Baqarah 2:132-133)

Abraham (AS) went to Egypt with his wife, Sara.

The king of Egypt fell in love with her.

Abraham (AS) wanted to divorce his wife, marry her to the king, and use her to give dawah to him.

Sarah prayed to Allah (SWT) so that she doesn't marry the kaafir.

The king stretched his hand to touch Sarah and Sarah made a dua against him

He did this again and his hand became stiff a second time.

He called her a devil woman and gave her Hajar (RAA) as a gift.

Sarah couldn't bare children.

She gave Hajar (RAA) to Abraham (AS) for marriage.

Hajar (RAA) was able to bear him a son, Ismail (AS).

This made Sarah jealous.

Hajar (RAA) was able to give Abraham (AS) a child but Sarah wasn't.

Sarah said to take Hajar (RAA) and her son away from her because she doesn't want to see them.

One day, Abraham woke up and told his wife, Hajar (RAA) to prepare for a long journey.

Ibn Abbas (RA) said the first person to wear a girdle was Hajar (RAA) to erase her footsteps so that Sarah would be unable to find her.

Sarah was enraged with jealousy; she even said she'd cut up Hajar's (RAA) face.

Ismail (AS) was still young when they set off to travel; the child was still suckling.

Abraham (AS) travelled to a land, which was uncultivated in the Arabian Peninsula.

This land has no fruit trees.

There was no water or food.

The valley had no sign of life.

Abraham (AS) got his family to dismount and left them with two days of ration

He left them with TWO days of food and water in a valley, which had no sign of life.

He turned around and walked away.

His wife, Hajar (RAA) hurried behind him and asked if he's leaving them behind in an uncultivated area

Abraham (AS) didn't answer.

She asked if Allah (SWT) commanded him to do this.

Abraham (AS) said yes

When Hagar heard Abraham (AS) say yes, she said then Allah (SWT) will never leave them to get lost.

Then Abraham (AS) made a dua.

This famous dua can be found in Surah 14:37-38.

رَّبَّنَا إِنِّي أَسْكَنتُ مِن ذُرِّيَّتِي بِوَادٍ غَيْرِ ذِي زَرْعٍ عِندَ بَيْتِكَ الْمُحَرَّمِ رَبَّنَا لِيُقِيمُوا الصَّلَاةَ فَاجْعَلْ أَفْئِدَةً مِّنَ النَّاسِ تَهْوِي إِلَيْهِمْ وَارْزُقْهُم مِّنَ الثَّمَرَاتِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَشْكُرُونَ

مِن شَيْءٍ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَلَا فِي السَّمَاءِ رَبَّنَا إِنَّكَ تَعْلَمُ مَا نُخْفِي وَمَا نُعْلِنُ ۗ وَمَا يَخْفَىٰ عَلَى اللَّهِ

"O our Lord! I have made some of my offspring to dwell in an uncultivable valley by Your Sacred House (the Ka'bah at Makkah); in order, O our Lord, that they may perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), so fill some hearts among men with love towards them, and (O Allah) provide them with fruits so that they may give thanks.
"O our Lord! Certainly, You know what we conceal and what we reveal. Nothing on the earth or in the heaven is hidden from Allah.

(Ibrahim 14:37-38)

When Abraham (AS) left his family there, the kaba wasn't built yet but Abraham (AS) knew the position of it.

He left Hajar (RAA) and Ismail (AS) at that spot.

Hagar (RAA) continued to drink from the water she had and she was suckling her baby.

The water ran out so her and her child was suffering from severe thirst.

Ismail (AS) was twisting and tossing.

This caused Hajar to panic.

She looked to see if there was a traveller passing by.

She ran between the two hills of safa and marwah seven times.

Allah (SWT) spoke about safa and marwah in Surah Al Baqarah: verse 158.

Verily! As-Safa and Al-Marwah (two mountains in Makkah) are of the Symbols of Allah. So it is not a sin on him who perform Hajj or 'Umrah (pilgrimage) of the House (the Ka'bah at Makkah) to perform the going (Tawaf) between them (As-Safa and Al-Marwah). And whoever does good voluntarily, then verily, Allah is All-Recogniser, All-Knower.

(Al-Baqarah 2:158)

Running between Safa and Marwah is called Sai.

When Hajar (RAA) reached Mount Safa, she saw an angel.

The angel dug up the earth and a spring came out of it.

Hajar was very happy when she saw the water.

Prophet (saws) added, "May Allah bestow Mercy on Ishmael's mother! Had she let the Zamzam (flow without trying to control it) (or had she not scooped from that water) (to fill her water-skin), Zamzam would have been a stream flowing on the surface of the earth." The Prophet (ﷺ) further added, "Then she drank (water) and suckled her child. The angel said to her, 'Don't be afraid of being neglected, for this is the House of Allah which will be built by this boy and his father, and Allah never neglects His people.'

[Sahih Al Bukhari 4: book 55 hadith 583, Riyadh us-Saliheen]

Abraham said, 'O Ishmael! Allah has given me an order.' Ishmael said, 'Do what your Lord has ordered you to do.' Abraham asked, 'Will you help me?' Ishmael said, 'I will help you.' Abraham said, Allah has ordered me to build a house here,' pointing to a hillock higher than the land surrounding it." The Prophet added, "Then they raised the foundations of the House (i.e. the Ka'ba). Ishmael brought the stones and Abraham was building, and when the walls became high, Ishmael brought this stone and put it for Abraham who stood over it and carried on building, while Ishmael was handing him the stones, and both of them were saying, 'O our Lord! Accept (this service) from us, Verily, You are the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.' The Prophet added, "Then both of them went on building and going round the Ka'ba saying: "O our Lord ! Accept (this service) from us, Verily, You are the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing." (Al Baqarah 2:127)  
(Translation of Sahih Bukhari, Prophets, Volume 4, Book 55, Number 583)"

If Hajar left the water to flow freely and didn't put stones around it to contain it, Zamzam would have been a flowing stream.

Suwaid bin Saeed reported: "When the water of Zam-Zam was brought to Abdullah bin al-Mubarak I saw that he drank a little, then turning his face towards the Ka'bah supplicated, 'O Allah! Ibn Abi Al-Mawali told us on the authority of Muhammad bin Al-Munkadir, who narrated from Jabir that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, "The water of Zam-Zam is good for whatever one intends (while drinking it)." I intend to drink this water to spare myself from going thirsty on the Day of Judgment.' Then he drank the rest of the water."

If you have a stomach ulcer or even cancer and you drink zamzam cancer with the iman (faith) that you can be cured, you will be cured.

Abu Dharr (RA) was in Makkah and all he lived on was water yet he was able to gain weight.

"Drinking one's fill of Zamzam water is a sign of being free of hypocrisy."

[Mawdoo (Fabricated), Silsilah-Daeefah No. 2682]

The above-mentioned hadith was classified as fabricated.

Abdullah b. Samit reported that Abu Dharr said: We set out from our tribe Ghafir who look upon the prohibited months as permissible months. I came to Zamzarn and washed blood from me and drank water from it and listen, O son of my brother, I stayed there for thirty nights or days and there was no food for me but the water of Zamzarn. And I became so bulky that there appeared wrinkles upon my stomach, and I did not feel any hunger in my stomach. It was during this time that the people of Mecca slept in the moonlit night and none was there to circumambulator the House

{Sahih Muslim book 31 chapter 28 6046}

Hajar (RAA) drank water and suckled her baby.

Narrated ibn Abbas: Prophet (saws) added, "May Allah bestow Mercy on Ishmael's mother! Had she let the Zamzam (flow without trying to control it) (or had she not scooped from that water) (to fill her water-skin), Zamzam would have been a stream flowing on the surface of the earth." The Prophet (ﷺ) further added, "Then she drank (water) and suckled her child. The angel said to her, 'Don't be afraid of being neglected, for this is the House of Allah which will be built by this boy and his father, and Allah never neglects His people.'

[Sahih Al Bukhari 4: book 55 hadith 583, & Riyadh us-Saliheen]

The angel told her not to fear being neglected. The angel said the house of Allah (SWT) would be built by Ismail.

She continued to live by herself in the valley with her son until some people came by from the tribe of Jurhum.

They came to the valley where Hajar was.

They had seen birds flying around in the sky; this is what led them to the valley.

They knew the birds were hovering over water so they went there.

They asked Hajar (RAA) if they could live there.

She said yes but she said they have no authority over the water.

This shows that Hajar (RAA) was not a woman of weak personality.

She was Egyptian; Egyptian women don't have weak personalities.

The mother of the Arabs was from Egypt.

Jurhum agree to the deal and stayed there with Hajar (RAA) and Ismail (AS).

Hajar (RAA) was happy about the companionship.

The tribe found living in Makkah agreeable so they sent for the rest of their tribe members to join them.

When Ismail (AS) was able to walk, his father Abraham (AS) saw in a dream that he offered Ismail (AS) as a human sacrifice.

And, when he (his son) was old enough to walk with him, he said: "O my son! I have seen in a dream that I am slaughtering you (offer you in sacrifice to Allah), so look what you think!" He said: "O my father! Do that which you are commanded, Insha' Allah (if Allah will), you shall find me of As-Sabirin (the patient ones, etc.)." Then, when they had both submitted themselves (to the Will of Allah), and he had laid him prostrate on his forehead (or on the side of his forehead for slaughtering); And We called out to him: "O Abraham! You have fulfilled the dream (vision)!" Verily! Thus do We reward the Muhsinun (good-doers - see V.2:112). Verily, that indeed was a manifest trial

(As-Saffat 37:102-106)

And We ransomed him with a great sacrifice (i.e. - a ram); And We left for him (a goodly remembrance) among generations (to come) in later times.
Salamun (peace) be upon Ibrahim (Abraham)!" Thus indeed do We reward the Muhsinun (good-doers - see V.2:112). Verily, he was one of Our believing slaves.

The dream of a prophet is wahi (revelation)

To make the slaughtering easier, Ismail (AS) was put to lie on his belly.

Ismail (AS) was exchanged for a lamb and a lamb was sacrificed.

When Abraham  (AS)was about to sacrifice Ismail (AS), the shaitan came to him in the form of a woman and asked how he could sacrifice his only son.

Abraham (AS) stoned her.

When you go to Eid and you sacrifice an animal, you are commemorating the sacrificial son, Ismail (AS).

Seven people can put the name down for sacrifice (pay) for a cow.

One person can put the name for sacrifice (pay) for a lamb or sheep.

This is a very important moment.

The Jews claim the sacrificial son was Ishaq (AS).

This is a lie of the Jews.

Ismail (AS) is the father of the Arabs and Ishaq (AS) is the father of the Jews.

It is because of this, the Jews say Ishaq (AS) was the sacrificial son.

And verily, there came Our Messengers to Ibrahim (Abraham) with glad tidings. They said: Salam (greetings or peace!) He answered, Salam (greetings or peace!) and he hastened to entertain them with a roasted calf. But when he saw their hands went not towards it (the meal), he felt some mistrust of them, and conceived a fear of them. They said: "Fear not, we have been sent against the people of Lout (Lot)." And his wife was standing (there), and she laughed (either, because the Messengers did not eat their food or for being glad for the destruction of the people of Lout (Lot). But We gave her glad tidings of Ishaque (Isaac), and after him, of Ya'qub (Jacob). She said (in astonishment) : "Woe unto me! Shall I bear a child while I am an old woman, and here is my husband, an old man? Verily! This is a strange thing!" They said: "Do you wonder at the Decree of Allah? The Mercy of Allah and His Blessings be on you, O the family [of Ibrahim (Abraham)]. Surely, He (Allah) is All-Praiseworthy, All-Glorious."

(Hud 11:63-73)

When the angels came to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah, they passed by Abraham (AS).

They had good news and bad news for him and they gave the good news first.

Abu Shurayh Khuwaylid ibn 'Amr al-Khuza'i said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah (SAW), say, 'Anyone who believes in Allah and the Last Day should honour his guest as his due.' They said, 'What is his due, Messenger of Allah?' He said, 'A day and a night. Hospitality is for three days, and what is beyond that is sadaqa for him.'"

[Al-Bukhari (6019) and Muslim (48)]

The angel said that Sodom and Gomorrah is going to be destroyed and they said that Sara will conceive a child.

Lut (AS) was the nephew of Abraham (AS) so Abraham (AS) was worried about him because he was in Sodom and Gomorrah.

When Ismail (AS) reached puberty, he married one of the girls from Jurhum.

Ismail (AS) lived with the people who came from Yemen and he spoke Arabic.

They taught him Arabic.

Abraham (AS) was a prophet, Ismail (AS) was a prophet, Ishaq (AS) was a prophet and Jacob (AS) was a prophet of Allah (SWT).

After Hajar (RAA) died, Ibrahim (AS) came back to visit his son.

Abraham (AS) went to Ismail's house. Ismail (AS) was not at home but his wife was.

He had gone out for searching for livelihood.

Abraham (AS) asked her how life was?

She said: life is tough, we are living in poverty and destitution and things don't seem to be getting any better.

Abraham (AS) "said tell your husband when he comes home assalamu alaikum and tell him to change the threshold of his door.

When Ismail (AS) returned home, he noticed that his wife was behaving funny so he asked her if they had any guests.

She said an old man came to the house, who was handsome.

Ismail (AS) asked if he left a message.

His wife told her what he said.

Ismail said: that was my father and he has commanded me (Ismail) to divorce my wife so he sent her home.

His wife was the threshold that Abraham (AS) asked Ismail (AS) to get rid of so Ismail (AS) divorced her.

Ismail (AS) got married to another girl from the same tribe.

Abraham (AS) came to check on his son again and Ismail (AS) was not at home.

Abraham (AS) asked Ismail's (AS) wife how life is.

She said Alhamdulillah.

She said she drinks water and eats meat.

Abraham (AS) told her to give Ismail (AS) salaam and to tell him to keep his threshold.

When Ismail (AS) returned home, he noticed, his wife was behaving funny.

He asked her if they had any guests.

She said an old man came and she told him what he said.

Ismail (AS) said that was my father and you are the threshold and he has commanded me to keep you; so I will keep you.

Some people use this as evidence to say that if your parents want you to divorce someone, you should.

This is not correct because some parents are racist.

The Prophet (saws) added, "If somebody has only these two things (water and meat) as his sustenance, his health and disposition will be badly affected, unless he lives in Makkah." 

[Sahih Bukhari]

This diet (eating meat and drinking water alone) is only suitable in Makkah.

An apple a day keeps the doctor away.

Abraham (AS) came back to Makkah and found Ismail (AS) sharpening his arrows for hunting.

He was sitting by the Zamzam.

He greeted his son.

Abraham (AS) told Ismail that Allah (SWT) has commanded them to do something.

That thing is to build the kabah.

Like a dutiful son, he told his father to do what Allah (SWT) has commanded him to do.

Abraham (AS) stood at a place to build the kabah and it is called maqam ibrahim.

Umar asked for that place to be a place of prayer and Allah (SWT) agreed with him.

Ismail (AS) carried the stones while Abraham (AS) stacked the stones to build the kabah.

And (remember) when Ibrahim (Abraham) and (his son) Isma'il (Ishmael) were raising the foundations of the House (the Ka'bah at Makkah), (saying), "Our Lord! Accept (this service) from us. Verily! You are the All-Hearer, the All-Knower."

(Al-Baqarah 2:127)

While they were building the kabah, they continuously made dhikr.

When the kabah was completed, Abraham (AS) made the following duas:

And (remember) when Ibrahim (Abraham) said, "My Lord, make this city (Makkah) a place of security and provide its people with fruits, such of them as believe in Allah and the Last Day." He (Allah) answered: "As for him who disbelieves, I shall leave him in contentment for a while, then I shall compel him to the torment of the Fire, and worst indeed is that destination!"

(Al-Baqarah 2:126)

There is no doubt that Allah (SWT) has already answered the dua of Abraham (AS) to make Makkah a place of security.

In Surah, Quraish Allah (SWT) reminded them that they are safe.

for the taming of the Quraish, the (Quraish) caravans to set forth safe in winter (to the south), and in summer (to the north without any fear), the Lord of this House (the Ka'bah in Makkah). Who has fed them against hunger, and has made them safe from fear.

(Quraish 106:1-4)

No earthquakes and hurricanes take place in Makkah.

The Dajjal cannot enter Makkah.

Have they not seen that We have made (Makkah) a sanctuary secure, and that men are being snatched away from all around them? Then do they believe in Batil (falsehood - polytheism, idols and all deities other than Allah), and deny (become ingrate for) the Graces of Allah?

(Al-'Ankabut 29:67)

Natural disasters don't happen in Makkah

People are being snatched away in other cities but not in Makkah.

Makkah has been made a safe sanctuary.

Allah (SWT) swears by the fig, the olive, Mount Sinai and Makkah.

By the fig, and the olive, By Mount Sinai, And by this city of security (Makkah),

The other dua of Abraham (AS) after building the kabah was for Allah (SWT) to bless the bloodline of Ismail (AS).

"Our Lord! And make us submissive unto You and of our offspring a nation submissive unto You, and show us our Manasik (all the ceremonies of pilgrimage - Hajj and 'Umrah, etc.), and accept our repentance. Truly, You are the One Who accepts repentance, the Most Merciful.

(Al-Baqarah 2:128)

This is the bloodline of the Arabs.

Expect the Arabs to gravitate towards Islam more than Jews because Ismail (AS) is the father of the Arabs.

When the Jews were told to do Jihad, they said you and your Lord go and fight to Moses.

When the Prophet (SAWS) was marching towards Badr, the sahabas said they will not say to him what the Jews said to Moses.

Narrated By Abdullah (bin Masud): On the day of Badr, Al-Miqdad said, "O Allah's Apostle! We do not say to you as the children of Israel said to Moses, 'Go you and your Lord and fight you two; we are sitting here, (5.24) but (we say). "Proceed, and we are with you." That seemed to delight Allah's Apostle greatly.

[Sahih Bukhari, Vol 6, Book 60, Hadith #133]

Expect the Arabs to be superior to the Jews because Abraham (AS) begged Allah (SWT) to bless the bloodline of Ismail (AS).

"Our Lord! Send amongst them a Messenger of their own (and indeed Allah answered their invocation by sending Muhammad Peace be upon him ), who shall recite unto them Your Verses and instruct them in the Book (this Qur'an) and Al-Hikmah (full knowledge of the Islamic laws and jurisprudence or wisdom or Prophet hood, etc.), and sanctify them. Verily! You are the All-Mighty, the All-Wise."

(Al-Baqarah 2:129)

This is another dua of Abraham (AS).

The coming of Muhammad (SAWS) is all because Allah (SWT) answered the dua of Abraham (AS) to send a messenger from amongst them.

Q1: I heard that the sacrifice of Abraham and Ismail signifies the bloodshed of the Arabs in the end times. Can you comment on this?


This is the first time I am hearing this.

A hadith said people will envy the Arabs for their prestige and that people will kill the Arabs.

Those who envy the Arabs for their prestige are the Jews.

The ones that are killing the Arabs are the Jews. The Jews also use white people to kill the Arabs.

By using the white folks to kill Arabs, they are ensuring the continuity of the Jewish race.

They think they are turning gentiles against gentiles.

The only way Islam can spread is by sacrifice.

So we commemorate Ismail as the sacrificial son when we celebrate Eid ul Adha.

Islam is a tree, which grows with the blood of the shuhada.


The Bedouins say: "We believe." Say: "You believe not but you only say, 'We have surrendered (in Islam),' for Faith has not yet entered your hearts. But if you obey Allah and His Messenger (SAW), He will not decrease anything in reward for your deeds. Verily, Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful." (Al-Hujurat 49:14)

The reason was that these people were new Muslims.

There was a drought and they asked the Prophet (SAWS) to feed them because they are believers.

They were not believers because imam had not entered into their hearts fully.

They were Muslims because they had submitted.

Allah (SWT) was distinguishing between a believer and a Muslim.

Allah (SWT) was not making takfeer.

Allah (SWT) was differentiating between a believer and a Muslim.

One of the conditions of shahada is certainty.

They had not reached the level of being believers yet.

There are different levels of paradise because there are different levels of iman.

The Prophet (SAWS) made a difference between the Muslim and the believer when he was giving out the booty.

He said he can't see a Muslim or a believer.

The mu'min abstains from major haram.

The Muslim might drink alcohol or have a girlfriend.

The Prophet (SAWS) said the fornicating person is not a mu'min in the act.

The Prophet (SAWS) meant the man is not a mu'min in the act but he is still a Muslim.

Q2: Some Arabs are taking advantage of the syrians, They are going there and having muttah with the women, and dump them after a while. What is the ruling on these people, and the one who is finding the women for the men there?

Answer 2:

Whenever you are suffering, people always exploit you because you are vulnerable.

Muttah marriage has been made haram until judgment day.

The refugees are desperate and they have no money.

You are not supposed to be exploiters of each other.

Those who are taking advantage of the Syrian women are very selfish. They wouldn't like someone to take advantage of their aunt, sister or mother.

The believing men and believing women are allies of one another. They enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and establish prayer and give zakah and obey Allah and His Messenger. Those - Allah will have mercy upon them. Indeed, Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise. {At-Taubah 9:71}

Everyone is cashing in on the disaster.

Its is disaster because there is a massacre taking place.

Syrian women are very beautiful women so it is not surprising that the Saudis are taking advantage.
