On the authority of Ibn Abbas (RA), from the Messenger of Allah (SAW), from what he has related from his Lord: Verily Allah ta’ala has written down the good deeds and the evil deeds, and then explained it [by saying]: "Whosoever intended to perform a good deed, but did not do it, then Allah writes it down with Himself as a complete good deed. And if he intended to perform it and then did perform it, then Allah writes it down with Himself as from ten good deeds up to seven hundred times, up to many times multiplied. And if he intended to perform an evil deed, but did not do it, then Allah writes it down with Himself as a complete good deed. And if he intended it [i.e., the evil deed] and then performed it, then Allah writes it down as one evil deed." [related by al-Bukhari (6491) and Muslim (131)]

This hadith was a gift given to the ummah of Muhammad (saw)
-and it is called the multiplication of our deeds
-the reason why the prophet (saw) was able to tell us this was because
-when he went for Al Isra wal mi'raaj, he spoke to Allah (swt) from behind a veil
-and during this conversation Allah told him the multiplication of good deeds

If you think of doing good but did not do it you have 1 reward for it
-but if you went ahead and did it, you have 10 or 700 good deeds

The story behind this revelation
-Allah revealed an ayah in the Qur'an and the sahabah complained about it
-they were not happy and Allah took back the verse-abrogated it
-so those who say there are no abrogated verses are jaahil

People speak about Islam when they are not qualified to do so
-and they make up their own Islam called hislam
-there are abrogations in the Qur'an because Allah said so:

Whatever a Verse (revelation) do We abrogate or cause to be forgotten, We bring a better one or similar to it. Know you not that Allah is able to do all things? (Al-Baqarah 2:106)

-so denying abrogation means you are denying this ayah
-paltalk is a double-edged sword

To Allah belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is on the earth, and whether you disclose what is in your ownselves or conceal it, Allah will call you to account for it. Then He forgives whom He wills and punishes whom He wills. And Allah is Able to do all things. (Al-Baqarah 2:284)

-when Allah revealed this verse the sahabah were terrified
-because we are human beings and we all harbour evil thoughts
-so this ayah made them terrified
-hence they approached the prophet (saw) and said
-this ayah was difficult for them to practice
-and as a result Allah revealed 2:286 to cancel it

Allah burdens not a person beyond his scope. He gets reward for that (good) which he has earned, and he is punished for that (evil) which he has earned… (Al-Baqarah 2:286)

Stay away from people who are self-taught
-who think they know when they don’t know
-and their pride does not allow them to accept correction

FIRST RULING: Al-Baqarah 284
-you will be held accountable for your evil thoughts
-whether you practiced them or not

SECOND RULING: Al-Baqarah 286
-you will only be punished for things you actually did
-as for your evil thoughts you won’t be held accountable

The ayah 2:286 is so precious in the Eyes of Allah that
-He stored it underneath His Arsh
-and He revealed it to the prophet (saw) above the 7 heavens
-and so only Muhammad (saw) had revelations above the 7 heavens
-this was one of the merits of the prophet (saw)

This hadith number 37 is a hadith Qudsi

In order for you to get reward for your niyyah
-you need to make effort to act upon it
-e.g. you drove your car to go make salah in the masjid
-but when you were 15 minutes away your car tyre got flat
-you took out the spare tyre but it was also flat
-so you were stranded
-and by the time you were able to fix it, salatul jumuah had already passed
-you will get the reward of jumuah because you did your part to perform the act
-this is when Allah rewards you for your intentions
-by making effort to carry out your intentions

-Allah will only accept good deeds

..."Verily, Allah accepts only from those who are Al-Muttaqun (the pious - see V.2:2)." (Al-Ma'idah 5:27)

-in order for this to happen, 2 conditions have to be found

-not to seek fame or fortune
-but to seek Allah's countenance only

-because the prophet said:

لا يؤمن أحدكم حتى يكون هواه تبعا لما جئت به
On the authority of Abu Muhammad Abdullah bin ’Amr bin al-’Aas (RA) who said: The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, “None of you [truly] believes until his desires are subservient to that which I have brought.” [Imam an-Nawawi says:] We have related it in Kitab al-Hujjah with a saheeh chain of narrators. [Forty Hadith by Imam Nawawi No. 41, Mishkat al-Masabih (1/36) No. 167, Jama' ul-Uloom al-Hikam, Ibn Rajab (2/393), Ma'arj al-Kubool, al-Hukmi (2/422)]

-so many of you are sincere but sincerely wrong
-because your deeds are not in accordance with the Sunnah

Kiraman and Katibeen write our deeds
-one on the right and the other on the left

When we make salah and say the salaam,
-we give salaam to these angels
-the one on the right is fard but that on the left is Sunnah
-so if you give salaam on the right and before you could give on the left
-you broke your wudu, your salah is still valid
-because the salaam on the right is fard and marks the end of the salah

-so you might fast one Ramadan but Allah gives you the reward of fasting 1000 Ramadans

Allah is so kind to His righteous servants He rewards us for our intentions

Abu Huraira (RA) reported the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, "Allah the Exalted and Majestic said: 'Every act of the son of Adam is for him, except As-Siyam (the fasting) which is (exclusively) for Me, and I will reward him for it.' Fasting is a shield. When anyone of you is observing fast, he should neither indulge in obscene language nor should he raise his voice; and if anyone reviles him or tries to quarrel with him, he should say: 'I am fasting.' By Him in Whose Hand the soul of Muhammad is, the breath of one observing Saum is sweeter to Allah than the fragrance of musk. The one who fasts, experiences two joys: he feels pleasure when he breaks the fast. He is joyful by virtue of his fast when he meets his Rubb." [al-Bukhari (1904) and Muslim (1151)]

Verily, We give life to the dead, and We record that which they send before (them), and their traces [their footsteps and walking on the earth with their legs to the mosques for the five compulsory congregational prayers, Jihad (holy fighting in Allah's Cause) and all other good and evil they did, and that which they leave behind], and all things We have recorded with numbers (as a record) in a Clear Book. (Ya-Sin 36:12)

-you get the reward of all the people who did the deed after you

Jareer ibn Abdullah narrated: "Some people from the Bedouin came to the Messenger of Allah (SAW), wearing woollen garments. He saw that they were in bad shape and in desperate need, so he urged the people to give them charity. The people were very slow to respond, and it could be seen in his face (that he was upset). Then a man of the Ansar brought a package of silver, then another came, and another and another, and his face was filled with joy. The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: 'Whoever starts a good thing in Islam, and others do likewise after him, there will be written for him a reward like that of those who followed him, without it detracting in the least from their reward. Whoever starts a bad thing in Islam, and others do likewise after him, there will be written for him a burden of sin like that of those who followed him, without it detracting in the least from their burden.'" [Sahih Muslim (4/2059) No. 1017]

Abdullah Ibn Mas‘ud (RA) narrated the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: “No soul is killed unlawfully, but there is a share of the sin on the first son of Adam, because he was the first one to set the precedent of killing.” [Related by al-Bukhari (3335) and Muslim (1677)]

Anytime a man murders another, Cain shares in the guilt
-this is because he established the Sunnah of murder

Likewise Amr ibn Luai will share the sins of those
-who practiced idol worshipping among the Arabs
-because he introduced it to them from Syria

The man who established the creed of wahdatul wujud (union)
-will also share in the sins of all those who practice this after him
-ibn Arabi as Soofi established this aqeeda of union between man and Allah

Aisha narrated the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: "Those who give respect to a bid'ati (innovator in Religion) surely will be counted as a helper of destroying Islam." [al-Tabarani in 'al-Mu’jam al-Awsat' (7/35) No. 6772 and al-Bayhaqi in 'Shu'ab al-Emaan' (12/57) No. 9018]

When you die all your pious deeds come to a halt except 3

Abu Huraira (RA) reported: The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, "When a man dies, his deeds come to an end, except for three: (1) A continuous charity, (2) knowledge by which people derive benefit, (3) pious son who prays for him." [Adab al-Mufrad al-Bukhari No. 38, Muslim (3/1255) No. 1631, Abu Dawud (3/117) No. 2880, al-Nasa'i (6/251) No. 3651, Tirmidhi (3/660) No. 1376, al-Darime (1/148) No. 559, Ahmad (2/372) No. 8831]

-sometimes your good deed benefits your family members like being a hafidh
-he can intercede for 10 members of his family
-but this hadith above is weak
-but i can use a weak hadith to encourage you to do good

On the authority of Jabir the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: “The bearer of the Qur’an, if he regards what it permits as halal and what it forbids as haram, he will intercede for ten of his family members on the Day of Resurrection, all of whom deserved to enter Hell.” [al-Mu'jam al-Awsat al-Tabarani (5/260) No. 5258 and Shu'ab al-Eman al-Bayhaqi (4/228) No. 2438]

The shaheed will be able to intercede for 70 members of his family
-this is benefitting his family
-Allah said:

And those who believe and whose offspring follow them in Faith, to them shall We join their offspring, and We shall not decrease the reward of their deeds in anything. Every person is a pledge for that which he has earned. (At-Tur 52:21)

Miqdam ibn Ma’dikarib (RA) reported that Allah’s Messenger (SAW) said, “There are with Allah six blessings for the martyr.
[1] He is forgiven with the first drop of blood.
[2] He is shown his abode in paradise.
[3] He is preserved from the torment of the grave and is safe from the great fear on the Day of Resurrection.
[4] A crown of honour ingrained with pearl is placed on his head, which is better than the world and what it contains.
[5] He is married to seventy-two maidens (huris) of paradise.
[6] His intercession for his seventy relatives is accepted.” [Sunan Tirmidhi (4/187-188) No. 1663, Musnad Ahmad (4/131) No. 17221, Sunan Ibn Majah (4/82) No. 2799]

-because of your good deeds Allah will join you and your parents in paradise

Surely Allāh loves Al- Mattaqûn (the pious - see V.2:2). (At-Tawbah 9:4)

Abu Dharr (RA) reported that Allah’s Messenger (SAW) said, “Fear Allah wherever you are. Follow your evil deed with a pious deed that it may erase it. And meet people in a cheerful manner." [Sunan Tirmidhi (4/355) No. 1987, Musnad Ahmad (5/153) No. 21392, Sunan al-Darime (2/415) No. 2791]

Narrated By Anas: A bedouin came to the Prophet and said, "O Allah's Apostle! When will The Hour be established?" The Prophet said, "Wailaka (Woe to you), What have you prepared for it?" The bedouin said, "I have not prepared anything for it, except that I love Allah and His Apostle." The Prophet said, "You will be with those whom you love." We (the companions of the Prophet) said, "And will we too be so? The Prophet said, "Yes." So we became very glad on that day. In the meantime, a slave of Al-Mughira passed by, and he was of the same age as I was. The Prophet said. "If this (slave) should live long, he will not reach the geriatric old age, but the Hour will be established." [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 8, Book 73, Hadith #188]

-evidence in 52:21

And those who believe and whose offspring follow them in Faith, to them shall We join their offspring, and We shall not decrease the reward of their deeds in anything. Every person is a pledge for that which he has earned. (At-Tur 52:21)

-because you did them to seek only Allah's pleasure

Good deeds by themselves can’t take you to paradise
-this is because we sin by night and day
-so only by Allah's mercy we will enter paradise

Narrated 'Aisha: The Prophet said, "Do good deeds properly, sincerely and moderately, and receive good news because one's good deeds will not make him enter Paradise." They asked, "Even you, O Messenger of Allah?" He said, "Even I, unless and until Allah bestows His pardon and Mercy on me." [Sahih Bukhari (8/98) No. 6463]

We commit back biting, slandering, tale bearing and gossiping
-the SUN newspaper does the most gossip
-and it is used to destroy politicians
-because people gravitate towards gossip,
-hence they feel like a fish out of water when coming to this room (i.e. Authentic Tauheed)

Al-Miqdad ibn al-Aswad reported that the Messenger of Allah (SAW), asked his Companions about fornication and they said, "It is unlawful. Allah and His Messenger have made it unlawful." He said, "It is less serious for a man to fornicate with ten women than for him to fornicate with his neighbour's wife." Then he asked them about stealing. They replied, "It is unlawful. Allah and His Messenger have made it unlawful." He said, "It is less serious for a man to steal from ten houses than it is for him to steal from his neighbour's house." [al-Adab al-Mufrad al-Bukhari, No. 103, Musnad Ahmad (6/8) No. 23905 and al-Mu’jam al-Kabir al-Tabarani (20/256) No. 605]

Ibn Mas`ud said, "I asked, `O Messenger of Allah! What is the greatest sin?' He said, "To make a rival for Allah while He Alone created you." I said, `Then.' He said, "To kill your offspring for fear that he might share your food with you." I said, `Then.' He said, "To commit adultery with your neighbor's wife.'' [al-Bukhari (4477) and Muslim (86)]

Abu Hurayrah reported that Allah’s Messenger (SAW) said, “Allah disregards from my Ummah the thoughts that come to their minds so long as they do not speak of it or act upon it.” [al-Bukhari (6664) and Muslim (127)]

You can commit a sin by a speech or by an action
-Deeds are of 3 dimensions:-
(i) Heart
(ii) Tongue
(iii) Limbs

On the authority of Abu Sa’eed al-Khudree (RA) who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (SAW) say, “Whosoever of you sees an evil, let him change it with his hand; and if he is not able to do so, then [let him change it] with his tongue; and if he is not able to do so, then with his heart — and that is the weakest of faith.” [Sahih Muslim (1/69) No. 49, Musnad Ahmad (3/10) No. 11088, Sunan Ibn Majah (5/145) No. 4013, Sunan Tirmidhi (4/469) No. 2172, Sunan Abu Dawud (1/296) No. 1140, Sunan al-Nasa'i (8/112) No. 5009]

Narrated By Al-Bara' ibn Azib: I met my uncle who was carrying a standard. I asked him: 'Where are you going?' He said: 'The Apostle of Allah (SAW) has sent me to a man who has married his father's wife. He has ordered me to cut off his head and take his property.' [Sunan Abu Dawud (4/157) No. 4457, Sunan al-Nasa'i (6/109) No. 3332, Sunan al-Darime (2/205) No. 2239, Musnad Ahmad (4/290) No. 18580]

When is a deed considered to be a sin?
-a deed is considered a sin when the perpetrator
-KNOWINGLY and DELIBERATELY disobeys Allah (swt)
-KNOWINGLY: He had the ilm that it was haraam
-DELIBERATELY: Freely exercising the sin

According to sharia law, 6 people are not held accountable for their deeds:-

Ali reported that Allah’s Messenger (SAW) said, "The pen has been raised for three persons (meaning they are not held accountable for what they do): one who is sleeping until he gets up, a child until he reaches the age of puberty, and an insane person until he becomes sane." [Musnad Ahmad (1/154) No. 1327, Sunan Abu Dawud (4/140) No. 4402, Sunan Tirmidhi (4/32) No. 1423, Sunan Ibn Majah (3/198) No. 2041, al-Sunan al-Kubra al-Nasa'i (5/265) No. 5596, Mustadrak al-Haakim (2/67) No. 2350]

-Hence you cannot punish 12 year olds who commit zina
-because they did not reach puberty
-Mad Man: You have to ask his family to pay blood money to the victim

Ibn 'Abbas (RA) the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: "Verily Allah has pardoned [or been lenient with] for me my Ummah : their mistakes, their forgetfulness, and that which they have been forced to do under duress." [Sunan Ibn Majah (3/200) No. 2045, al-Mu’jam al-Kabir al-Tabarani (11/133) No. 11274, al-Sunan al-Kubra al-Bayhaqi (7/584) No. 15094, Sunan al-Daraqutni (5/300) No. 4351]

-A mistake
-e.g. (Mistake) - Married woman had a male slave, and slept with him.
-e.g. (slip of the tongue)

On the authority of Qataada who said: “A woman slept with her male servant and cited an ayah of the Holy Qur'an as her evidence for her action. ‘…or the (female) slaves whom their right hands possess…’ (An-Nur 24:31). This woman was brought to Umar ibn al-Khattab (RA) by a group of Sahabas who complained to Umar that she misinterpreted a verse from the Holy Qur’an and slept with her male servant. Umar commanded that the male servant should be sent away for a year and he was beheaded. He then said to the woman you are now haram for all Muslims.” [Tafseer al-Tabari (9/586) No. 11277]

Abu Hamza Anas ibn Malik al-Ansari (RA) the servant of the Messenger of Allah narrated: Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, “Verily, Allah is more delighted with the repentance of His slave than a person who lost his camel in a desert land and then finds it (unexpectedly).” [al-Bukhari (6308) and Muslim (2747)]

In another version of Muslim, he said:“Verily, Allah is more pleased with the repentance of His slave than a person who has his camel in a waterless desert carrying his provision of food and drink and it is lost. He, having lost all hopes (to get that back), lies down in shade and is disappointed about his camel; when all of a sudden he finds that camel standing before him. He takes hold of its reins and then out of boundless joy blurts out: 'O Allah, You are my slave and I am Your Rubb'. He commits this mistake out of extreme joy.” [Sahih Muslim (4/2104) No. 2747]

In Darul Harb they are Khawarij; they are merciless with genuine mistakes

A person who's under Ikraah - duress
-e.g. if a gun is pointed at your head to sleep with a girl, you are allowed to
-but if a gun is pointed at you to sleep with a man, YOU HAVE TO DIE!
-that is Sharia Law

-if a gun is pointed at you to renounce Muhammad (saw), you're allowed to do so

Whoever disbelieved in Allāh after his belief, except him who is forced thereto and whose heart is at rest with Faith but such as open their breasts to disbelief, on them is wrath from Allāh, and theirs will be a great torment. (An-Nahl 16:106)

-this level of deception - taqiyyah - is permissible

Shia on the other hand is extreme with taqiyyah EVEN WHEN THEY DON'T NEED TO!
-if they point a gun at you and demand that you kill your Muslim Brother,
-YOU HAVE TO DIE instead!
- 'Ikraah' (duress) cannot be used to legitimise casinos, strip clubs, brothels, banks, etc.

The Jaahil
-a person who is not aware of the Sharia law
-e.g. you eat camel meat, but pray without performing wudu
-Allah (swt) Will Accept your Salah
-because you genuinely did not know camel meat broke your wudu

Bara bin Aazib (RA) said that Allah’s Messenger (SAW) was asked about making ablution after eating camel flesh. He said, “Make ablution after that”. Then he was asked about mutton. He said, “It is not necessary after that.” [Sunan Dawud (1/47) No. 184, Sunan Tirmidhi (1/122) No. 81, Sunan Ibn Majah (1/311) No. 494, Musnad Ahmad (4/303) No 18725]

Jabir b. Samura reported: 'A man asked the Messenger of Allah (SAW) whether he should perform ablution after (eating) mutton. He (the Messenger of Allah) said: "Perform ablution if you so desire, and if you do not wish, do not perform it." He (again) asked: 'Should I perform ablution (after eating) camel's flesh?' He said: "Yes, perform ablution (after eating) camel's flesh." He (again) said: 'May I say prayer in the sheepfolds?' He (the Messenger of Allah) said: "Yes." He (the narrator) again said: 'May I say prayer where camels lie down?' He (the Holy Prophet) said: "No." [Sahih Muslim (1/275) No. 360 and Musnad Ahmad (5/98) No. 20963]

On the authority of 'Abdullah bin Mughaffal that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: "Perform prayer in the sheep's resting-places and do not perform prayer in the camels' resting-places, for they were created from the devils." [Musnad Ahmad (4/86) No. 16845, Sunan Ibn Majah (1/492) No. 769, Sahih Ibn Hibban (4/601) No. 1702, al-Sunan al-Kubra al-Bayhaqi (2/629) No. 4357]

Even though the person is not accountable in the above instance
-where SHIRK is concerned, you can't give an excuse of ignorance
-for worshiping false deities

And (remember) when your Lord brought forth from the Children of Adam, from their loins, their seed (or from Adam's loin his offspring) and made them testify as to themselves (saying): "Am I not your Lord?" They said: "Yes! We testify," lest you should say on the Day of Resurrection: "Verily, we have been unaware of this." (Al-A'raf 7:172)

A Spin is sometimes put on the above hadith to justify those who claim ignorance for shirk
-but 7:172 is solid confirmation that you cannot claim ignorance on shirk of worship

Ibn Taymiyyah said: “Without doubt Tawhid is the essence of Iman. This is the alamati fariqa which distinguish Ahl of Jannah from Ahl of Jahannam. Moreover this is the fee of Jannah. No one’s Islam can be Sahih without it.” [Majmua al-Fatawa (24/235)]

Ibn Qayyim stated: “Islam is tawheed of Allah and without shirk, making ibadaah solely to Him, also iman in Allah and His Rasul and obedience in the matters he has brought. The servant who is not like this is not a Muslim. Even if this individual is not a stubborn Kafir he is an ignorant kafir.” [Tariq ul Hijratayn, (p. 411)]

Ibn Taymiyyah stated: “Ilm concerning Allah means Iman, and ignorance concerning Allah means Kufr. As such, knowledge regarding Fardh is Iman; however ignorance prior to the commandment of the Fardh does not mean Kufr. The reason behind this is that when Allah first sent Rasulullah (SAW) to the ashab they confessed their Iman however after this they did not know the commanded Fardh. Even so their ignorance of the, to be commanded Fardh was not Kufr. After-wards Allah sent them the Fardh. Their confession of these Fardh and performance of these Fardh became Iman. Nevertheless those who rejected them became Kafir for declaring the news from Allah to be untrue. If news from Allah had not come, being ignorant of this would not make one Kafir. In the same sense after the arrival of the news if from among the Muslim there was some who did not hear of it, this ignorance would also not make one Kafir. However ignorance regarding Allah is Kufr, either before the arrival of the news or after.” [Majmua al-Fatawa (7/325)]

Abu Yusuf narrated from Imam Abu Hanifah: “Abu Hanifah stated: No servant (abd) has an excuse regarding knowledge of his Rabb due to ignorance. All creatures must know their Rabb and make Tawhid. The reason for this is that they see the created sky, the creation of themselves and all things Allah created. When it comes to the Fardh; regarding those who do not know them and related news had not reached them, means that evidence had not been stable as Hukm (i.e., an Ayah had not been revealed yet, or a Hadith had not been stated yet etc.).” [Badai’u's-Sanai, (7/132)]

Narrated from Anas (RA) that a man said: “O Messenger of Allah, where is my father?” He said: “In Hell.” When he turned away he called him back and said: “My father and your father are in Hell.” [Sahih Muslim (Vol. 1, pg. 191) No. 203]

IMPORTANT: Prophet (saw)'s father died before the advent of Islam BUT STILL HAS NO EXCUSE OF IGNORANCE

So set you (O Muhammad SAW) your face towards the religion of pure Islāmic Monotheism Hanifa (worship none but Allāh Alone) Allāh's Fitrah (i.e. Allāh's Islāmic Monotheism), with which He has created mankind. No change let there be in Khalq¬illāh (i.e. the Religion of Allāh Islāmic Monotheism), that is the straight religion, but most of men know not. [Tafsir At¬Tabarī, Vol 21, Page 41] (Ar-Rum 30:30)

And when they embark on a ship, they invoke Allāh, making their Faith pure for Him only, but when He brings them safely to land, behold, they give a share of their worship to others. (Al-'Ankabut 29:65)

When they got desperate, they completely forgot their idols
-and supplicated to Allah (Swt)
-the fitrah surfaces EVEN WITH KUFFAR when it's a life & death situation
-but they forget Allah (swt) once they're out of danger

Even OMAR, when implementing the Sharia REFUSED for the scholars to leave Madina
-because he didn't want to make one mistake
-Omar did not know everything

...'Umar did not take the Jizya from the Magian infidels till 'Abdur-Rahman bin 'Auf testified that Allah's Apostle had taken the Jizya from the Magians of Hajar. [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 4, Book 53, Hadith #384]

-e.g. when he conquered Persia he didn't know what to do with the fire worshippers
-thankfully, 'Abdur-Rahman bin 'Auf shared his knowledge

If you intend to do ONE haraam
-Allah (swt) will write it down as ONE haraam
-if you intend to do ONE good deed
-Allah (swt) will write it down between 10 to 700 good deeds

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (SAW) as saying: Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, said: "My mercy prevails over My wrath." [al-Bukhari (7553), Muslim (2751), Tirmidhi (3543), Ahmad (7297)]

Can a scholar be under ikraah if he is forced by taghoot to pass dodgy fatawa publicly?

-he has to run away if faced with that
-in surah Buruj, the scholar ran away
-he lived in a cave
-he didn't want to be held accountable for passing dodgy fatawa

A scholar cannot be considered under ikraah
-Imam Malik refused to pass dodgy fatwa for the caliph Mansoor
-Abu Hanifa also refused,
-they dragged Imam Malik’s arms out and poisoned Abu Hanifa
-some were poisoned, killed and humiliated for refusing
-the taubah of a shaikh has to be done publicly
-because he has misguided the public with his dodgy fatwa

Except those who repent and do righteous deeds, and openly declare (the truth which they concealed). These, I will accept their repentance. And I am the One Who accepts repentance, the Most Merciful. (Al-Baqarah 2:160)

Ibn Taymiyya made takfir on the wicked scholars

"A scholar who abandons what has learnt from the Quran and the Sunnah and follows a ruler who does not rule in accordance with the teaching of Allah and His Messenger is an apostate and a disbeliever who deserves punishment in this world and in the hereafter " Fatawa Ibn Taymiyyah, Volume 35/373

Assalamu alaikum Shaikh, I often hear Westerners ask - "why is there no speaker’s corner in the Middle East?" Hinting on why we are not tolerant on freedom of religious dialogue. Kindly advise a good response. Jzk.

-there is no such thing as freedom of speech under sharia
-that means the man who believes in deviance will speak
-people will insult Allah (swt) and His rasool (saw), and say it is freedom of speech
-the white man doesn't allow full freedom of speech
-he means freedom for the scum of the earth to have a voice
-gays, prostitutes have a say
-Muslims do not have the freedom of speech
-the BNP and the KKK and the EDL have freedom of speech
-except the Muslims
-if you insult someone they call you names: bigot/homophobic, etc.
-if you insult Muhammad (saw) they say freedom of speech
-they say in democracy you are free to insult prophets
-but democracy is the greatest shirk

Countries that ban homosexuality risk losing aid, warns David Cameron:

-they say you are male chauvinist if you insult a woman
-if you insult Muhammad (saw) they say it is freedom of speech

The Hindus banned the film that insulted Muhammad (saw)
-the white kaffir allowed it
-the Hindus are better than the white kaffir

Assalamu alaikum shaikh, in this lecture you said your deeds can help your family; my question is does your family have to be Muslim or does it apply to non-muslims too?

-it only applies to Muslims
-this is about weak Muslims that commit sins

It is not (proper) for the Prophet and those who believe to ask Allāh's Forgiveness for the Mushrikûn (polytheists, idolaters, pagans, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allāh) even though they be of kin, after it has become clear to them that they are the dwellers of the Fire (because they died in a state of disbelief). (At-Tawbah 9:113)

-you can't intercede for a cow worshipper

Narrated By Al-Abbas bin 'Abdul Muttalib: That he said to the Prophet "You have not been of any avail to your uncle (Abu Talib) (though) by Allah, he used to protect you and used to become angry on your behalf." The Prophet said, "He is in a shallow fire, and had It not been for me, he would have been in the bottom of the (Hell) Fire." [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 5, Book 58, Hadith #222]

It has been narrated on the authority of A'isha, wife of the Holy Prophet (SAW), who said: The Messenger of Allah (SAW) set out for Badr. When he reached Harrat-ul-Wabara (a place four miles from Medina) a man met him who was known for his valour and courage. The Companions of the Messenger of Allah (SAW) were pleased to see him. He said: I have come so that I may follow you and get a share from the booty. The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said to him: Do you believe in Allah and His Messenger? He said: No. The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: Go back, I will not seek help from a Mushrik (polytheist). He went on until we reached Shajara, where the man met him again. He asked him the same question again and the man gave him the same answer. He said: Go back. I will not seek help from a Mushrik. The man returned and overtook him at Baida'. He asked him as he had asked previously: Do you believe in Allah and His Messenger? The man said: Yes. The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said to him: Then come along with us. [Sahih Muslim (3/1449) No. 1817]

Ibn Abbas (RA) narrated the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: "Verily the most painful punishment on the Day of Judgment are those who kill the prophets or people murdered by the prophet or kill one of his parents, and making statues and knowledgeable people who do not benefit from his knowledge." [related by Bayhaqi in 'Shu'ab al-Iman' (10/288) No. 7504]

Assalamu Alaikum Sheikh, I was hoping you could tell us if touching a female breaks your wudu? Shafi'i Sheikhs say that even your wife breaks your wudu. I was wondering if this is the case or if the touch that breaks your wudu should be a sexual touch? JZK

-touching a woman deliberately breaks your wudu
-touching your wife does not break wudu

What is the correct method in proceeding with polygamy? What are the implications?

-polygamy is one of the Sunan of the prophet (saw)

It was narrated that Sa’eed ibn Jubayr said: Ibn ‘Abbas said to me: “Have you gotten married?” I said: “No.” He said: “Get married, for the best of this ummah are the ones with the most wives.” [Sahih Bukhari (7/3) No. 5069]

-it is needed because there are not enough brothers for the sisters
-polygamy is part and parcel of Islam
-some sisters prefer their husbands to have an affair rather than have a second wife
-they have darul harb mentality

Narrated by Anas ibn Malik (RA) that the Prophet (SAW) said: “No one of you truly believes until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself.” [al-Bukhari (13) and Muslim (45)]

-they rather the sister apostate than be a second wife
-a mother refused to let her daughter be a second wife
-said she was becoming too orthodox

A kaffir practices pretence monogamy
-you can practice polygamy if you have the health, wealth and taqwa
-so you do not play one wife against the other
-a kaffir practices pretence monogamy and indecent polygamy; they have affairs
-you don't need wife's permission to do polygamy
-secret marriages are makrooh not haram
-Abdur Shaakir had two wives and the first didn't know about the other till he died

Aisha narrated the Prophet (SAW) said: “There is no marriage except with a wali and two witnesses of good character.” [al-Sunan al-Kubra al-Bayhaqi (7/202) No. 13719, al-Mu'jam al-Awsat al-Tabarani (9/117) No. 9291, Sahih Ibn Hibban (9/386) No. 4075, Sunan al-Daraqutni (4/324) No. 3534]

-secret marriages are not haraam
-you need two witnesses, a wali and a dowry for marriage to be valid
-even if she gets married without a wali because she is a widow or divorcee
-the marriage is valid according to Hanafi fiqh
-a marriage without a wali is hanging in the balance
-a scholar has to interview the husband
-if he is good in creed and deed the marriage is good
-if not the marriage is bautil

...Help you one another in Al¬Birr and At¬Taqwa (virtue, righteousness and piety); but do not help one another in sin and transgression. And fear Allah. Verily, Allah is Severe in punishment. (Al-Ma'idah 5:2)
