Abu Hurayra reported that the Prophet (SAW), said, "Avoid the seven fatal sins." They said, "Messenger of Allah, what are they?" He said, "Associating with Allah, sorcery, killing a soul which Allah has forbidden, except by legal right, consuming usury, consuming the property of an orphan, fleeing on the day of battle and slandering unthinking chaste believing women." [al-Bukhari (2766) and Muslim (89)]

-this is to ascribe partners to Allah
-i.e. to worship false deities
-and there are 2 types of shirk: MAJOR AND MINOR
-just like everything in Islam is classified into major and minor
-failing to classify knowledge makes you become a deviant just like the khawaarij did

Hence the classification of knowledge is very important
-and it can tell you who is self-taught
-because they can’t tell these classifications

-e.g. doing good to show off is minor shirk
-it makes you a faasiq not a kaafir
-wearing things around your neck for protection is minor shirk
-not even the Qur'an can you wear for protection

‘Uqbah ibn ‘Amir narrates that the Messenger of Allah (SAW), said: “If anyone wears an amulet, may Allah not help him in fulfilling his wish. If anyone wears a sea-shell around his neck, may Allah give him no peace.” [Musnad Ahmad (4/154) No. 17440 and Musnad Abu Ya'la (3/295) No. 1759]

It was narrated from ‘Uqbah ibn ‘Aamir al-Juhani that a group came to the Messenger of Allah (SAW) [to swear their allegiance (bay’ah) to him]. He accepted the bay’ah of nine of them but not of one of them. They said, “O Messenger of Allah, you accepted the bay’ah of nine but not of this one.” He said, “He is wearing an amulet.” The man put his hand (in his shirt) and took it off, then he (the Prophet (SAW)) accepted his bay’ah. He said, ‘Whoever wears an amulet has committed shirk.” [Musnad Ahmad (4/156) No. 17458 and Mustadrak al-Haakim (4/243) No. 7513]

-to use the prophet (SAW) for tawassul is minor shirk
-to say Oh Allah forgive me because of the glory of Muhammad (SAW)
-this is shirk and it is the Islam of the goofy soofis

-e.g. if a person gives away a 100 USD in public to show off is minor shirk
-and only that deed is nullified
-he gets no barakah for it because he had the wrong intention
-if his intention was to encourage others to give, this is not shirk
-and his deed will be accepted

Umar ibn al-Khattab said, 'I heard the Messenger of Allah (SAW), say, "Actions only go by intentions. Everyone gets what they intend..." [al-Bukhari (1) and Muslim (1907)]

Allah warned the prophet (SAW) against major shirk

And indeed it has been revealed to you (O Muhammad SAW), as it was to those (Allah's Messengers) before you: "If you join others in worship with Allah, (then) surely (all) your deeds will be in vain, and you will certainly be among the losers." (Az-Zumar 39:65)

-Allah forgives every sin under the heaven even shirk if you make tawbah before death

It is not (proper) for the Prophet and those who believe to ask Allah's Forgiveness for the Mushrikun (polytheists, idolaters, pagans, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah) even though they be of kin, after it has become clear to them that they are the dwellers of the Fire (because they died in a state of disbelief). (At-Tawbah 9:113)

Narrated By Al-Abbas bin 'Abdul Muttalib: That he said to the Prophet "You have not been of any avail to your uncle (Abu Talib) (though) by Allah, he used to protect you and used to become angry on your behalf." The Prophet said, "He is in a shallow fire, and had It not been for me, he would have been in the bottom of the (Hell) Fire." [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 5, Book 58, Hadith #222]

Ibn 'Abbas reported: The Prophet (may peace be upon him) said: Among the inhabitants of the Fire Abu Talib would have the least suffering, and he would be wearing two shoes (of Fire) which would boil his brain. [Sahih Muslim, Book 1, Hadith #0413]

-so you need to give your kaafir families shahadah before they die

-this is when you love a thing the way you should love Allah (SWT)
-Allah said:

And of mankind are some who take (for worship) others besides Allâh as rivals (to Allâh). They love them as they love Allâh. But those who believe, love Allâh more (than anything else). If only, those who do wrong could see, when they will see the torment, that all power belongs to Allâh and that Allâh is Severe in punishment. (Al Baqarah 2:165)

-e.g. a person is watching a major football match and misses salah because of it
-or he does not close his shop to go for jumuah
-he loves the money and the football match more than Allah

Narrated By Al-Ja'd ad-Damri: The Prophet (pbuh) said: He who leaves the Friday prayer (continuously) for three Friday on account of slackness, Allah will print a stamp on his heart. [Abu Dawud, Book 2, Hadith #1047]

Ibn 'Umar and Abu Hurairah (RA) reported: "We heard the Messenger of Allah (SAW) saying (while delivering Khutbah on his wooden pulpit), "Either some people (i.e. hypocrites) stop neglecting the Friday prayers, or Allah will seal their hearts and they will be among the heedless." [Sahih Muslim (2/591) No. 865]

If you are living in darul harb and can’t go for jumuah, why not make hijrah?
-and why do the imams give an hour khutba?
-the khutba should be short because the prophet (SAW) did not like long speeches

'Ammar bin Yasir (RA) reported: I heard Messenger of Allah (SAW) saying, "Prolonging Salat (prayer) and shortening the Khutbah (religious talk) indicate the religious knowledge of the person. Make your Salat long and your sermon short." [Sahih Muslim (2/594) No. 869]

-this is to fear someone instead of fearing Allah
-Allah said:

...Do you fear them? Allah has more right that you should fear Him, if you are believers. (At-Tawbah 9:13)

On the authority of Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (RA): the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, "The best type of Jihad is speaking a true word in the presence of a tyrant ruler." [Sunan Abu Dawud (4/124) No. 4344, Sunan Ibn Majah (5/144) No. 4011, Sunan Tirmidhi (4/471) No. 2174]

On the authority of Abu Sa'id (RA), who said that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: "Let not any one of you belittle himself." They said: "O Messenger of Allah, how can any one of us belittle himself?" He said: "He finds a matter concerning Allah about which he should say something, and he does not say [it], so Allah (mighty and sublime be He) says to him on the Day of Resurrection: 'What prevented you from saying something about such-and-such and such-and-such?' He will say: 'It was] out of fear of people.' Then He says: 'Rather it is I whom you should more properly fear.'" [Sunan Ibn Majah (5/142) No. 4008, with a sound chain of authorities.]

-you are supposed to fear Only Allah
-if you are sincere believers

-this is to make your supplications to other than Allah

Nu’man ibn Bashir (RA) narrated the Prophet (SAW) said, “The supplication is itself worship.” Then he recited. And your Lord says, “Call upon Me, and I shall answer you. Surely those who are too arrogant to worship Me, they shall enter Hell, disgraced.” (40: 60) [Tirmidhi (5/456) No. 3372, Abu Dawud (2/76) No. 1479, Ibn Majah (5/5) No. 3828, Ahmad (4/271) No. 18410]

-so when you make dua at the grave of the prophet (SAW) you are a kaafir
-this is the plight of the Berailvis
-they don’t realise the grave is an idol as stated by the prophet (SAW)
-hence the grave worshippers are idol worshippers

Yahya related to me from Malik from Zayd ibn Aslam from Ata ibn Yasar that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, "O Allah! Do not make my grave an idol that is worshipped. The anger on those who took the graves of their Prophets as places of prostration was terrible." [Muwatta Malik (1/223) No. 570, Musannaf Abdur Razzaq (1/406) No. 1587, Musnad Ahmad (2/246) No. 7352]

Allah dismissed these people as liars and kaafirs in surah 39:3
-this is because they recite surah 1:5 in their salah; yet pray to the grave

Surely, the religion (i.e. the worship and the obedience) is for Allah only. And those who take Auliya' (protectors and helpers) besides Him (say) : "We worship them only that they may bring us near to Allah." Verily, Allah will judge between them concerning that wherein they differ. Truly, Allah guides not him who is a liar, and a disbeliever. (Az-Zumar 39:3)

You (Alone) we worship, and You (Alone) we ask for help (for each and everything). (Al-Fatihah 1:5)

-to put your trust in something other than Allah
-and Allah loves the mutawakkileen

...and consult them in the affairs. Then when you have taken a decision, put your trust in Allah, certainly, Allah loves those who put their trust (in Him). (Aali Imran 3:159)

-if you kill an animal and call the name of an idol, a saint etc, it is haram meat
-and if you know it was slaughtered in this manner and you eat the meat
-you become a kaafir also

Eat not (O believers) of that (meat) on which Allah's Name has not been pronounced (at the time of the slaughtering of the animal), for sure it is Fisq (a sin and disobedience of Allah). And certainly, the Shayatin (devils) do inspire their friends (from mankind) to dispute with you, and if you obey them [by making AlMaytatah (a dead animal) legal by eating it], then you would indeed be Mushrikun (polytheists) [because they (devils and their friends) made lawful to you to eat that which Allah has made unlawful to eat and you obeyed them by considering it lawful to eat, and by doing so you worshipped them, and to worship others besides Allah is polytheism]. (Al-An'am 6:121)

They (Jews and Christians) took their rabbis and their monks to be their lords besides Allah (by obeying them in things which they made lawful or unlawful according to their own desires without being ordered by Allah), and (they also took as their Lord) Messiah, son of Maryam (Mary), while they (Jews and Christians) were commanded [in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)) to worship none but One Ilah (God- Allah) La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He)[]. Praise and glory be to Him, (far above is He) from having the partners they associate (with Him)." (At-Tawbah 9:31)

Imam Ahmad, At-Tirmidhi and Ibn Jarir At-Tabari recorded a Hadith via several chains of narration, from 'Adi bin Hatim (RA), who became a Christian during the time of Jahiliyya. When the call of the Messenger of Allah reached his area, 'Adi ran away to Ash-Sham, and his sister and several of his people were captured. The Messenger of Allah freed his sister and gave her gifts. So she went to her brother and encouraged him to become Muslim and to go to the Messenger of Allah. 'Adi, who was one of the chiefs of his people (the tribe of Tai') and whose father, Hatim At-Ta’i, was known for his generosity, went to Al-Madinah. When the people announced his arrival, 'Adi went to the Messenger of Allah wearing a silver cross around his neck. The Messenger of Allah recited this Ayah; They took their rabbis and their monks to be their lords besides Allah. 'Adi commented, "I said, ‘They did not worship them.’" The Prophet said, ((Yes they did. They (rabbis and monks) prohibited the allowed for them (Christians and Jews) and allowed the prohibited, and they obeyed them. This is how they worshiped them.)) … They took their rabbis and their monks to be their lords besides Allah… that the Christians and Jews obeyed their monks and rabbis in whatever they allowed or prohibited for them…"

-making sajdah to idols is just one aspect of worship
-when you accept the verdict of someone who makes halal haram, it is also worship

If I should tell you I will never cut the hand of the thieves
-because I need men to protect my country
-and if you obey me in this, you have committed the shirk of obedience

-this is when you make laws to govern the people that are contrary to shariah
-Allah said:

...and He makes none to share in His Decision and His Rule." (Al-Kahf 18:26)

Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (d. 728H): “Whenever a person makes halal what is haraam by consensus or makes haraam what is halal by consensus or replaces the Sharee’ah that is agreed upon by consensus, then he is a Kaafir by the agreement of the scholars of Fiqh.” – “Al-Fataawa”, Vol. 3/267

Abdullah ibn Mas’ood (RA) reported that Allah’s Messenger (SAW) said, “Tiyarah (belief in evil omens) is shirk..." [Sunan Tirmidhi (4/160) No. 1614, Sunan Abu Dawud (4/17) No. 3910, Musnad Ahmad (1/440) No. 4194, Sunan Ibn Majah (4/560) No. 3538]

Abdullah ibn ‘Amr narrated the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: “Whoever cancels one's intention to do something because of At-Tiyarah (an evil omen), that one has committed shirk.” They said, “What is the kafaarah (expiation) for that?” He said, “To say: Allaahumma la khayra illaa khayruka wa laa tayra illaa tayruka wa laa ilaaha ghayruka (O Allah, there is no good except Your good, no birds (omens) except from You, and there is no god beside You).” [Musnad Ahmad (2/220) No. 7045 and al-Tabarani in ‘al-Mu’jam al-Kabir' (13/22) No. 38]

Abu Huraira reported that the Prophet (SAW), said “Whoever comes to a fortune-teller and believes him has disbelieved in what was revealed to Muhammad (SAW)”. [Musnad Ahmad (Vol. 2, pg. 429) No. 9532 and Mustadrak al-Hakim (Vol. 1, pg. 49) No. 15]

-Omens is shirk
-Palm-reading is shirk
-Sufi's & Shias believe in Palm reading, Fortune telling, Horoscopes, Omens
-they are not real Muslims if they resort to going to diviners

He is the Originator of the heavens and the earth. How can He have children when He has no wife? He created all things and He is the All-Knower of everything. (Al-An'am 6:101)

-Hence Christians commit shirk of describing Allah (SWT) with manly qualities
-by accusing Allah (SWT) of 'repenting'

And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. (Genesis 6:6) King James Version

Glorified be your Lord, the Lord of Honour and Power! (He is free) from what they attribute unto Him! (As-Saffat 37:180)

And peace be on the Messengers! (As-Saffat 37:181)

And all the praise and thanks be to Allah, Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). (As-Saffat 37:182)

-we the Muslims; are the only people on the face of the earth
-who don't describe Allah (SWT) with manly qualities

You [true believers in Islamic Monotheism, and real followers of Prophet Muhammad SAW and his Sunnah (legal ways, etc.)] are the best of peoples ever raised up for mankind; you enjoin Al-Ma'ruf (i.e. Islamic Monotheism and all that Islam has ordained) and forbid Al-Munkar (polytheism, disbelief and all that Islam has forbidden), and you believe in Allah... (Aali Imran 3:110)

-Abu Bakr punched a Jew in the face for saying that
-Allah (SWT) was 'poor' whilst they (the Jews) are rich!

Indeed, Allah has heard the statement of those (Jews) who say: "Truly, Allah is poor and we are rich!" We shall record what they have said and their killing of the Prophets unjustly, and We shall say: "Taste you the torment of the burning (Fire)." (Aali Imran 3:181)

(Verily Allah heard the saying of those who said…) [3:181]. ‘Ikrimah, al-Suddi and Muqatil ibn Ishaq related that, one day, Abu Bakr al-Siddiq entered a Jewish place of study and found a group of Jewish people gathered around one of them called Finhas ibn ‘Azura, who was one of their doctors. Abu Bakr said to Finhas: “Fear Allah and embrace Islam, for by Allah you know well that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah who has brought the truth to you from Allah. He is mentioned in your Torah; so believe and accept the truth and grant Allah a goodly offering and He will make you enter the Garden and multiply your reward”. Finhas responded: “O Abu Bakr, you claim that our Lord is asking us to lend Him our wealth. Yet, it is only the poor who borrow from the rich. And if what you say is true, it follows that Allah is poor and we are rich, for if He were rich He would not ask us to lend Him our wealth”. Abu Bakr al-Siddiq, may Allah be well pleased with him, became very angry and struck the face of Finhas with a mighty blow. He then said to him: “By Him in whose Hand is my soul, if it were not for the treaty between us, O enemy of Allah, I would have killed you”. Finhas went to the Messenger of Allah, Allah bless him and give him peace, and said: “O Muhammad! Look at what your companion has done to me”. The Messenger of Allah, Allah bless him and give him peace, asked Abu Bakr: “What has driven you to do what you have done?” He said: “O Messenger of Allah, this enemy of Allah has said something very serious. He claimed that Allah is poor and they are rich. I therefore got angry for the sake of Allah and hit his face”. But Finhas denied that he ever uttered those words, and so Allah, exalted is He, revealed this verse (Verily Allah heard the saying of those who said…) to give the lie to Finhas and to confirm that Abu Bakr al-Siddiq said the truth. ‘Abd al-Qahir ibn Tahir informed us> Abu ‘Amr ibn Matar> Ja‘far ibn al-Layth al-Ziyadi> Hudhayfah Musa ibn Mas‘ud> Shibl> Ibn Abi Najih> Mujahid who said: “This verse was revealed about the Jews; Abu Bakr, may Allah be well pleased with him, had struck the face of one of their men who said ‘Allah is poor and we are rich’ ”. Shibl commented: “I was informed that this man was Finhas the Jew, and it is also this man who said: (Allah’s hand is fettered) [5:64]”. [Asbab Al-Nuzul by Al-Wahidi , trans. Mokrane Guezzou]

-There is no excuse of ignorance for the shirk of worship
-and those who say otherwise are LYING to you regarding your deen

On the authority of Qataada who said: “A woman slept with her male servant and cited an ayah of the Holy Qur'an as her evidence for her action. ‘…or the (female) slaves whom their right hands possess…’ (An-Nur 24:31). This woman was brought to Umar ibn al-Khattab (RA) by a group of Sahabas who complained to Umar that she misinterpreted a verse from the Holy Qur’an and slept with her male servant. Umar commanded that the male servant should be sent away for a year and he was beheaded. He then said to the woman you are now haram for all Muslims.” [Tafseer al-Tabari (9/586) No. 11277]

-the evidence such people use to justify is the above athar
-Ahmad Ibn Hanbal said that most mistakes are made with WRONG QIYAAS (Analogy)
-The crime committed in the above athar was 'zina'; NOT shirk

Narrated from Anas (RA) that a man said: “O Messenger of Allah, where is my father?” He said: “In Hell.” When he turned away he called him back and said: “My father and your father are in Hell.” [Sahih Muslim (Vol. 1, pg. 191) No. 203]

-Try refuting the above hadith!
-We invite you, publicly, to attempt to refute the above hadith

And (remember) when your Lord brought forth from the Children of Adam, from their loins, their seed (or from Adam's loin his offspring) and made them testify as to themselves (saying): "Am I not your Lord?" They said: "Yes! We testify," lest you should say on the Day of Resurrection: "Verily, we have been unaware of this." (Al-A'raf 7:172)

-You, the person preaching kufr...let me see you refute this ayah! (7:172)
-On the flip-side, if you go to the munaafiq's paltalk rooms
-and present them such hujjah (which checkmates them)
-they'll BOUNCE YOU out of their room

Abu Haneefah (rh) said, when asked of his opinion of the one who says, ‘I do not know whether Allah is above the heavens or on the earth.’- “He has disbelieved, because Allah says, “The Most Merciful rose above the Throne,” and His Throne is above His seven heavens.’ He was then asked , ‘what if he said that Allah is above His Throne but he does not know whether the Throne is in the heavens or on the earth?’ He said, ‘He has disbelieved, because He has denied that He is above the heavens, And whosoever denied that He is above the heavens has disbelieved.” (‘Sharh Usul I'tiqaad Ahlus Sunnah’ of al-Laalikaaee (d.414AH), ‘al-Uluww’ of adh- Dhahabee, also ‘Sharh Aqueedah at-Tahaawiyyah’ of ibn Abee al-Izz al-Hanafee)

-Only if you learn 'comparative fiqh' or 'comparative aqeedah' can you come across such hujjah

-Shias claim that their imams are so intelligent
-they know when they are going to die

SHIA HUJJAH: The Imams know when they will die, and they only die by their choice. (Al Kafi vol.1 p.258)

-When Hussain went to Karbala, they killed his 6 month old baby
-if Hussain had such knowledge of the future
-and have his baby murdered

SHIA HUJJAH: The Imams have knowledge of the past and future; and nothing is hidden from them. ( Al-Kafi vol.1 p.260 )

-Shias claim their imams have knowledge of the unseen
-Hassan being one of them
-Hassan ate food with poison
-Hence if Hassan had knowledge of the unseen
-then that equates to Hassan COMMITTING SUICIDE!
-this hence renders their brains to be the size of a crab! (if not smaller!)

-This is the creed of a Christian
-whilst Jesus was on earth, he was 'God'
-Jesus claimed ignorance on when Judgement Day is!

But of that day and hour knoweth no [man], no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. (Matthew 24:36) King James Version

-How can God be ignorant of when Judgement day is?
-Christians still make announcements giving fixed dates for the end of the world
-Most recently, Friday 21st December 2012

-Not only Christians believe God came to earth in the form of a man
-NOI (Nation of Islam) believe that too
-They believe 'Master Farad Mohammed' was a god incarnate
-He was arrested, and spent time in the federal penitentiary for 'selling drugs'
-because he was uneducated, and unemployable
-(i.e. hence why he couldn't earn a proper living and resorted to crime)

-The only 3 ways Allah (SWT) Communicates to Man:-
1) Speaking through a veil
2) By Inspiration
3) By Sending an Angel

On the authority of Abu Dharr: “I asked the Messenger of Allah (SAW), ‘Have you seen your Lord?’ He said, ‘(There is) light, how could I see Him?’” [Sahih Muslim (1/161) No. 178]

It is not given to any human being that Allāh should speak to him unless (it be) by Inspiration, or from behind a veil, or (that) He sends a Messenger to reveal what He wills by His Leave. Verily, He is Most High, Most Wise[] . (Ash-Shura 42:51)

-As for Allah (SWT) Coming to earth in the form of a man
-NEVER DID it happen, and WILL NEVER happen

-e.g. when people say "I swear by my mother’s grave.."

Ibn 'Umar (RA) said: I heard a man saying: "No, by the Ka'bah." I admonished him: 'Do not swear by any thing besides Allah, for I heard the Messenger of Allah (SAW) saying, "He who swears by anyone or anything other than Allah, has indeed committed an act of Kufr or Shirk."' [Sunan Tirmidhi (4/110) No. 1535, Musnad Ahmad (2/125) No. 6072, Sunan Abu Dawud (3/223) No. 3251, Mustadrak al-Haakim (4/330) No. 7814]

-You can say 'Walaahi', 'billahi', 'talaahi'
-but not on created matter (animal, vegetable, or mineral)

-Some people seek knowledge to show off

Abu Musa al-Ash’ari (RA) reported that Allah’s Messenger (SAW) said: "O people, save yourselves from this shirk (ash-Shirk al-Khafi) for it is more inconspicuous than the creeping of ant." So someone, whom Allah willed to say, said: 'How do we save ourselves from it while it is more inconspicuous than the creeping of ant ya Rasool Allah?' Prophet (SAW) said: “Say:
اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّا نَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ أَنْ نُشْرِكَ بِكَ شَيْئًا نَعْلَمُهُ، وَنَسْتَغْفِرُكَ لِمَا لَا نَعْلَم
Allahumma inni audhubika minal nushrika bika shayaan na'alamuhu, wa nastaghfiruka lima la na'alam
(O Allah we take Your refuge from doing shirk with You knowingly, and ask for Your forgiveness for doing it unknowingly)" [Musnad Ahmed (4/403) No. 19622 and Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaibah (6/70) No. 29547]

Ka’b ibn Malik (RA) reported that he heard Allah’s Messenger (SAW) say: “If anyone seeks knowledge in order to compete with the scholars or to concur with the foolish or to direct the faces of the people toward himself, Allah will put him in the fire." [Sunan Tirmidhi (5/32) No. 2654, Sunan Darimi (1/374) No. 379, Sunan Ibn Majah (1/170) No. 254, Mustadrak al-Haakim (1/161) No. 293, Sahih Ibn Hibban (1/278) No. 77, Shu’ab al-Iman al-Bayhaqi (3/269) No. 1636, al-Mu’jam al-Awsat al-Tabarani (6/32) No. 5708]

-(i.e. things around your neck for protection)
-This is not allowed in Islam
-Sufi's are known to do this
-Berailvis do this too

-e.g. "oh Allah forgive me because of the glory of Muhammad"
-This is not allowed
-The Sahabah did not make dua like that!

QUESTION 1: shaikh, are the Maturidi/Ash'ari aqeedah included in the 3 groups that make up Ahle Sunnah Wal Jamaah ?

-No one takes the Quran more literally than sufis
-when it suits them
-but when it doesn't suit them... they take it figuratively

The Most Beneficent (Allāh) Istawā (rose over) the (Mighty) Throne (in a manner that suits His Majesty). (Ta-Ha 20:5)

-They take 2:115 literally :-

And to Allāh belong the east and the west, so wherever you turn yourselves or your faces there is the Face of Allāh (and He is High above, over His Throne). Surely! Allāh is All-Sufficient for His creatures' needs, All-Knowing. (Al-Baqarah 2:115)

-They use this Ayah to support their notion of Allah (SWT) being everywhere

And We are nearer to him than his jugular vein (by Our Knowledge). (Qaf 50:16)

-Here's another ayah they take literally, to support Wahdatul Wujood
-(i.e. a man can be so pious, that he himself can become Allah (SWT) hence no longer needs to pray)
-This was introduced by Ibn Arabee (from Spain)
-A Sufi cannot believe that Allah (SWT) is ABOVE THE ARSH
-because it conflicts with the unification of themselves with Allah (SWT)
-Therefore every sufi is an Asharite

Do you feel secure that He, Who is over the heaven (Allāh), will not cause the earth to sink with you, then behold it shakes (as in an earthquake)? (Al-Mulk 67:16)

...Zainab used to boast before the wives of the Prophet and used to say, "You were given in marriage by your families, while I was married (to the Prophet) by Allah from over seven Heavens." And Thabit recited, "The Verse: 'But (O Muhammad) you did hide in your heart that which Allah was about to make manifest, you did fear the people,' (33.37) was revealed in connection with Zainab and Zaid bin Haritha." [Sahih Bukhari (9/125) No. 7421]

it is narrated that the companion Mu`awiyah ibn al-Hakam, (RA) slapped his servant girl who used to tend his sheep, and as a result went to the Prophet (SAWS) and asked what should be done as an atonement for having slapped her. The Prophet replied, "Bring her to me" so Mu`awiyah brought her to the Prophet. The Prophet then asked her, "Where is Allah?" and she replied "Above the Sky" then the Prophet asked her, "Who am I?" and she replied, "You are Allah’s Messenger", so the Prophet said, "Free her, for verily she is a true believer."
