Bismillah…

There are many lessons to be learnt from these duaas
-the duaas of prophet Nuh can be found in surahs Nuh, Hud and Mu'minoon

SURAH 71 (NUH)

Allah spoke about prophet Nuh (a.s):

Verily, We sent Nuh (Noah) to his people (Saying): "Warn your people before there comes to them a painful torment." (Nuh 71:1)

-there were 10 generations between Prophet Adam and Nuh (a.s) all upon tawheed
-and then they went astray and started worshipping idols
-so the people of Nuh were the first people to dabble in shirk
-and so Allah sent His messenger to guide them

Ibn 'Abbas (RA) said: "Between Nooh (Noah) and Adam were ten generations, all of them were upon Sharee'ah (law) of the truth, then they differed. So Allah sent prophets as bringers of good news and as warners." [Related by Ibn Jareer at-Tabaree in his tafseer (4/275) No. 4048 and al-Haakim (2/596) No. 4009 who said: "It is authentic according to the criterion of al-Bukhari." Adh-Dhahabe also agreed]

When the children of Adam died, the people missed them so much
-so shaytan told them to make status of them to remind them of good
-then he persuaded them to put the statues in public places
-then he asked them to pray to these statues and ask them for things
-so little by little he convinced them to commit shirk

He said: "O my people! Verily, I am a plain warner to you, (Nuh 71:2)

"That you should worship Allah (Alone), be dutiful to Him, and obey me, (Nuh 71:3)

And verily, We have sent among every Ummah (community, nation) a Messenger (proclaiming): "Worship Allah (Alone), and avoid (or keep away from) Taghut[] (all false deities, etc. i.e. do not worship Taghut besides Allah)." Then of them were some whom Allah guided and of them were some upon whom the straying was justified. So travel through the land and see what was the end of those who denied (the truth). (An-Nahl 16:36)

DUA NUMBER 1:

HE LODGED A COMPLAINT TO ALLAH THAT HE HAS CALLED TO HIS PEOPLE BY NIGHT AND DAY

He said: "O my Lord! Verily, I have called my people night and day (i.e. secretly and openly to accept the doctrine of Islamic Monotheism), (Nuh 71:5)

"But all my calling added nothing but to (their) flight (from the truth). (Nuh 71:6)

"And verily! Every time I called unto them that You might forgive them, they thrust their fingers into their ears, covered themselves up with their garments, and persisted (in their refusal), and magnified themselves in pride. (Nuh 71:7)

"Then verily, I called to them openly (aloud); (Nuh 71:8)

"Then verily, I proclaimed to them in public, and I have appealed to them in private, (Nuh 71:9)

"I said (to them): 'Ask forgiveness from your Lord; Verily, He is Oft-Forgiving; (Nuh 71:10)

'He will send rain to you in abundance; (Nuh 71:11)

'And give you increase in wealth and children, and bestow on you gardens and bestow on you rivers.' "(Nuh 71:12)

What is the matter with you, [that you fear not Allah (His punishment), and] you hope not for reward (from Allah or you believe not in His Oneness). (Nuh 71:13)

While He has created you in (different) stages [i.e. first Nutfah, then 'Alaqah and then Mudghah, see (VV.23:13,14) the Qur'an]. (Nuh 71:14)

See you not how Allah has created the seven heavens one above another, (Nuh 71:15)

And has made the moon a light therein, and made the sun a lamp? (Nuh 71:16)

And Allah has brought you forth from the (dust of) earth. [Tafsir At-Tabari, Vol.29, Page 97]. (Nuh 71:17)

Afterwards He will return you into it (the earth), and bring you forth (again on the Day of Resurrection)? (Nuh 71:18)

And Allah has made for you the earth wide spread (an expanse). (Nuh 71:19)

That you may go about therein in broad roads. (Nuh 71:20)

The people of Nuh were Arabs
-the reason why Nuh mentioned wealth and children is
-because these are the natural instincts of man
-He love wealth and children

Beautified for men is the love of things they covet; women, children, much of gold and silver (wealth), branded beautiful horses, cattle and well-tilled land. This is the pleasure of the present world's life; but Allah has the excellent return (Paradise with flowing rivers, etc.) with Him. (Aali Imran 3:14)

-so Nuh used this strategy with his people
-to call them to what they love most

To have a river is a great barakah
-because it means you won’t suffer from lack of water

He reminded them of the stages Allah created them
-from nutfah, alaqah and mudghah

Allah called the sun as a lamp but the moon as a reflector
-He told them Allah has subdued the earth for them
-and these were some of the da’wah he gave to his people
-but what was their response

These are found in surah Hud

The chiefs of the disbelievers among his people said: "We see you but a man like ourselves, nor do we see any follow you but the meanest among us and they (too) followed you without thinking. And we do not see in you any merit above us, in fact we think you are liars." (Hud 11:27)

-the rich men of the town claimed that he was only followed by the poor
-so how can his message be the truth
-and the chiefs of the town told Nuh to drive away the poor people
-that follow him and then they will come listen to him
-but he replied them:

"And O my people! I ask of you no wealth for it, my reward is from none but Allah. I am not going to drive away those who have believed. Surely, they are going to meet their Lord, but I see that you are a people that are ignorant. (Hud 11:29)

"And O my people! Who will help me against Allah, if I drove them away? Will you not then give a thought? (Hud 11:30)

Dua Number 2:

"And indeed they have led many astray. And (O Allah): 'Grant no increase to the Zalimun (polytheists, wrong-doers, and disbelievers, etc.) save error.' "(Nuh 71:24)

Nuh (Noah) said: "My Lord! They have disobeyed me, and followed one whose wealth and children give him no increase but only loss. (Nuh 71:21)

"And they have plotted a mighty plot. (Nuh 71:22)

"And they have said: 'You shall not leave your gods, nor shall you leave Wadd, nor Suwa', nor Yaghuth, nor Ya'uq, nor Nasr (names of the idols); (Nuh 71:23)

"And indeed they have led many astray. And (O Allah): 'Grant no increase to the Zalimun (polytheists, wrong-doers, and disbelievers, etc.) save error.' "(Nuh 71:24)

Because of their sins they were drowned, then were made to enter the Fire, and they found none to help them instead of Allah. (Nuh 71:25)

This ayah is similar to:

And so We have appointed for every Prophet enemies - Shayatin (devils) among mankind and jinns, inspiring one another with adorned speech as a delusion (or by way of deception). If your Lord had so willed, they would not have done it, so leave them alone with their fabrications. (Tafseer Qurtubi, Vol.7, Page 67) (Al-An'am 6:112)

-some duaas are to curse people

At the battle of badr the shaytan inspired the kuffaar to go to war
-but he left them when he saw the Angel Gibril coming with 1000 angels

And (remember) when Shaitan (Satan) made their (evil) deeds seem fair to them and said, "No one of mankind can overcome you this Day (of the battle of Badr) and verily, I am your neighbour (for each and every help)." But when the two forces came in sight of each other, he ran away and said "Verily, I have nothing to do with you. Verily! I see what you see not. Verily! I fear Allah for Allah is Severe in punishment." (Al-Anfal 8:48)

Every prophet had an enemy who plotted against him
-just like Abu Jahl was the enemy of the prophet (saw)

And thus We have set up in every town great ones of its wicked people to plot therein. But they plot not except against their own selves, and they perceive (it) not. (Al-An'am 6:123)

-every village or town has people who plot against the deen
-just like you have in the Muslim countries now
-making shirk a multibillion dollar business
-but they plot only against themselves

So one of the duaas of Nuh is that he cried to Allah against their plot
-that his people are following the rich and famous
-whose wealth is causing them to rebel against the da’wah
-and they are plotting against the haqq because they don’t want the status quo to change

Verily, he thought and plotted; (Al-Muddaththir 74:18)

So let him be cursed! How he plotted! (Al-Muddaththir 74:19)

And once more let him be cursed, how he plotted! (Al-Muddaththir 74:20)

Then he thought; (Al-Muddaththir 74:21)

Then he frowned and he looked in a bad tempered way; (Al-Muddaththir 74:22)

Then he turned back and was proud; (Al-Muddaththir 74:23)

Then he said: "This is nothing but magic from that of old; (Al-Muddaththir 74:24)

"This is nothing but the word of a human being!" (Al-Muddaththir 74:25)

I will cast him into Hell-fire (Al-Muddaththir 74:26)

The chiefs of the disbelievers among his people said: "We see you but a man like ourselves, nor do we see any follow you but the meanest among us and they (too) followed you without thinking. And we do not see in you any merit above us, in fact we think you are liars." (Hud 11:27)

-the rasul (saw) was a man like us because he tied two stones on his belly
-when the sahabah were tying one stone

Say (O Muhammad SAW): "I am only a man like you. It has been inspired to me that your Ilah (God) is One Ilah (God i.e. Allah). So whoever hopes for the Meeting with his Lord, let him work righteousness and associate none as a partner in the worship of his Lord." (Al-Kahf 18:110)

-Allah (swt) sent man and not angels so that man doesn't say we can't do this
-as the messenger is a man like us
-the kuffaar of Makkah also asked why Allah sent a man and not an angel
-they even suggested who Allah should choose as rasul

And they say: "Why is not this Qur'an sent down to some great man of the two towns (Makkah and Ta'if)?" (Az-Zukhruf 43:31)

...But Allah chooses for His Mercy whom He wills. And Allah is the Owner of Great Bounty. (Al-Baqarah 2:105)

And it was inspired to Nuh (Noah): "None of your people will believe except those who have believed already. So be not sad because of what they used to do. (Hud 11:36)

-only 80 people believed in Nuh after giving da’wah for 950 years
-this tells you how hard-hearted they were and that their hearts were sealed
-this is a curse from Allah
-if a man cries that means that he is not hard-hearted

Ibn Abbas (RA) reported that he heard Allah’s Messenger (SAW) say, ‘(There are) two eyes that the Fire will never touch, the eye that wept from fear of Allah and the eye that stood guard in the night in Allah’s path.” [Sunan Tirmidhi (4/175) No. 1639 and Shu'ab al-Eman al-Bayhaqi (3/227) No. 1639]

Then, after that, your hearts were hardened and became as stones or even worse in hardness. And indeed, there are stones out of which rivers gush forth, and indeed, there are of them (stones) which split asunder so that water flows from them, and indeed, there are of them (stones) which fall down for fear of Allah. And Allah is not unaware of what you do. (Al-Baqarah 2:74)

-so if you can listen to a khutba and cry that is a blessing from Allah

So Allah revealed to prophet Nuh that no one else will believe
-so he made a dua and begged Allah to destroy them

Dua Number 3:

And Nuh (Noah) said: "My Lord! Leave not one of the disbelievers on the earth! (Nuh 71:26)

"If You leave them, they will mislead Your slaves, and they will beget none but wicked disbelievers." (Nuh 71:27)

"My Lord! Forgive me, and my parents, and him who enters my home as a believer, and all the believing men and women. And to the Zalimun (polytheists, wrong-doers, and disbelievers, etc.) grant You no increase but destruction!" (Nuh 71:28)

-he prayed that Allah should not leave any kaafir on earth
-because they will only corrupt the rest and beget evil kids like them

"And construct the ship under Our Eyes and with Our Inspiration, and address Me not on behalf of those who did wrong; they are surely to be drowned." (Hud 11:37)

-so he was asked to build a ship and Allah was watching him
-so this ayah 11:37 is hujjah that Allah has eyes

'Abdullah bin 'Umar (RA) said: One day the Messenger of Allah (SAW) mentioned Al-Masih Dajjal (the Antichrist) in the presence of the people and said, "Verily, Allah is not one-eyed but Al-Masih Ad-Dajjal is blind in the right eye which looks like a swollen grape." [al-Bukhari (7127) and Muslim (169)]

-when he was building the ship the kuffaar were laughing at him
-saying he was crazy building a ship when there is no sea around
-so after he finished building he took each animal in pairs (male and female)

Dua Number 4:

And he [Nuh (Noah)] said: "Embark therein, in the Name of Allah will be its moving course and its resting anchorage. Surely, my Lord is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful." (Tafsir At-Tabari, Vol. 12, Page 43) (Hud 11:41)

-he made a dua before he boarded the ship
-and this dua is said by Muslims even today when they board ships

So it (the ship) sailed with them amidst the waves like mountains, and Nuh (Noah) called out to his son, who had separated himself (apart), "O my son! Embark with us and be not with the disbelievers." (Hud 11:42)

The son replied: "I will betake myself to a mountain, it will save me from the water." Nuh (Noah) said: "This day there is no saviour[] from the Decree of Allah except him on whom He has mercy." And a wave came in between them, so he (the son) was among the drowned. (Hud 11:43)

-the response of the son was that of a Mu’tazilite
-he relied on his aql and that doesn't always tell you the right thing

Dua Number 5:

And Nuh (Noah) called upon his Lord and said, "O my Lord! Verily, my son is of my family! And certainly, Your Promise is true, and You are the Most Just of the judges." (Hud 11:45)

-this dua was a mistake because he made a dua for his son and he was a kaafir
-and because of this he will not be able to intercede on judgement day

And Nuh (Noah) called upon his Lord and said, "O my Lord! Verily, my son is of my family! And certainly, Your Promise is true, and You are the Most Just of the judges." (Hud 11:45)

He said: "O Nuh (Noah)! Surely, he is not of your family; verily, his work is unrighteous, so ask not of Me that of which you have no knowledge! I admonish you, lest you be one of the ignorant." (Hud 11:46)

Nuh (Noah) said: "O my Lord! I seek refuge with You from asking You that of which I have no knowledge. And unless You forgive me and have Mercy on me, I would indeed be one of the losers." (Hud 11:47)

-when he saw his son drowning he made a dua
-his natural instinct got the better of him
-but Allah told him that his son wasn't of his family because he was a kaafir
-if he was a Muslim then he would be a member of his family
-this tells you that a prophet can have a kaafir son
-and he made a mistake by making this dua because he questioned the justice of Allah

Ali (RA) observed, "If the religion was based on opinion, the bottom of the sock would take preference in being wiped to the top of the sock." [Related by Abu Dawud (1/90) No. 162 and ad-Daraqutni (1/378) No. 783 with a hassan or sahih chain.]

-to ask Allah to forgive a kaafir is questioning His Justice
-he made a mistake with Al walaa wal baraa
-this is why he made dua for Allah to forgive him
-even when his son made it clear that he wanted to be with the kuffaar and not with him
-when he was told by Allah that no one else will believe he made a dua

Then he invoked his Lord (saying): "I have been overcome, so help (me)!" (Al-Qamar 54:10)

-he asked for help from Allah because he has had it
-he made another dua when he went on the ship
-he thanked Allah for saving him from the dhalimun

Dua Number 6:

And when you have embarked on the ship, you and whoever is with you, then say: "All the praises and thanks be to Allah, Who has saved us from the people who are Zalimun (i.e. oppressors, wrong-doers, polytheists, those who join others in worship with Allah, etc.). (Al-Mu'minun 23:28)

-so when you are able to leave darul harb and boarding the plane
-then you need to make this dua

...And Al-Fitnah is worse than killing... (Al-Baqarah 2:191)

He witnessed the destruction of his people
-his wife and son among them too
-the scholars of Islam say that whenever Allah is destroying a people he destroys them
-whilst their prophet is still among them
-but if He wants good for them he uses the prophet as their shield
-like how He used the rasul (saw) to be a shield for Quraish

And Allah would not punish them while you (Muhammad SAW) are amongst them, nor will He punish them while they seek (Allah's) Forgiveness. (Al-Anfal 8:33)

-Abu Jahl made a dua for Allah to rain down stones if Muhammad (saw)
-was telling the truth
-so Allah responded to him in 8:33
-this is because he was a mercy to mankind
-and this is one of his merits

Dua Number 7:

And say: "My Lord! Cause me to land at a blessed landing-place, for You are the Best of those who bring to land." (Al-Mu'minun 23:29)

-he made a dua when he landed
-the ark landed in eastern turkey

Dua Number 8:

"My Lord! Forgive me, and my parents, and him who enters my home as a believer, and all the believing men and women. And to the Zalimun (polytheists, wrong-doers, and disbelievers, etc.) grant You no increase but destruction!" (Nuh 71:28)

-it is always good to have a pious son or daughter to make dua for you
-when you are inside the grave
-he prayed for his parents first

It was narrated from Abu Sa’eed al-Khudri (RA) that he heard the Messenger of Allah (SAW) say, “Do not keep company with anyone but a believer and do not let anyone eat your food but one who is pious.” [Sunan Tirmidhi (4/600) No. 2395, Sunan Abu Dawood (4/259) No. 4832, Musnad Ahmad (3/38) No. 11355]

-you should only bring sincere believers to your house

He also asked Allah to forgive all believers
-so you should always remember the ummah in your dua

Anas b. Malik reported: While we were in the mosque with Allah's Messenger (SAW), a desert Arab came and stood up and began to urinate in the mosque. The Companions of Allah's Messenger (SAW) said: Stop, stop, but the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: Don't interrupt him; leave him alone. They left him alone, and when he finished urinating, Allah's Messenger (SAW) called him and said to him: These mosques are not the places meant for urine and filth, but are only for the remembrance of Allah, prayer and the recitation of the Qur'an, or Allah's Messenger said something like that. He (the narrator) said that he (the Holy Prophet) then gave orders to one of the people who brought a bucket of water and poured It over. [Sahih Muslim (1/236) No. 285]

Abu Huraira (RA) narrated that a villager came to the mosque; then Allah's Messenger (SAW) was also sitting there. He offered Salah and prayed: "O Allah have mercy on me and on Muhammad and do not have mercy on anyone else besides us." The Prophet (SAW) turned towards him and said, "You have limited the application of a very large thing (Mercy).” There had not passed enough time when this man passed urine in the mosque. The people towards him, but the Prophet (SAW) said. "Pour a bucket of water over it.” He also said, "Indeed, you are sent only as those who make things easy and not as those who create difficulties." [Sunan Tirmidhi (1/275) No. 147]

-even prophet Abraham (a.s) made dua for the believers

And (remember) when Ibrahim (Abraham) said, "My Lord, make this city (Makkah) a place of security and provide its people with fruits, such of them as believe in Allah and the Last Day." He (Allah) answered: "As for him who disbelieves, I shall leave him in contentment for a while, then I shall compel him to the torment of the Fire, and worst indeed is that destination!" (Al-Baqarah 2:126)

QUESTION 1:-

Assalamu alaikum Shaikh, I heard of 2 different viewpoints from the scholars where one side says that Allah Flooded the whole earth and another say it was just the area the Prophet Nuh was that was Flooded (Iraq/Turkey area). Which is the correct viewpoint?

Answer 1:-

-The flood of Nuh destroyed the Ka’ba and it was rebuilt by Abraham
-the Middle East was the area inhabited then
-so there was no need to flood the whole earth
-his dua was that Allah should destroy all kuffaar on earth

And Nuh (Noah) said: "My Lord! Leave not one of the disbelievers on the earth! (Nuh 71:26)

QUESTION 2:-

Assalamu Alaikum sheikh, I want your naseeha and opinion regarding a serious matter. What is the ruling on the person/family member who slandered the oppressed muslims in a bad way, then your understanding of the Qur'an and ultimately slandered Allah out of anger just because that person found out you wanted to go to Jihad fisabilillah leaving your mother behind while she has another family member to look after her.

Answer 2:-

There is a conflict in this family because some have strong emaan
-and others have weak emaan
-if you want to go for jihad you should not tell anyone
-they will tell the police and you will be stopped at the airport
-your parents won't want you to go for jihad
-because they think that you are going to die
-you should get up and go
-we can't resolve this crisis on paltalk
-however, slandering Allah is major kufr
-so take the matter to your local shaikh

QUESTION 3:-

Assalamu alaikum Shaikh, can you please expand on the concept of making wrong dua, so that we don’t make this mistake?

Answer 3:-

This is the mistake of Nuh (a.s)
-he made dua for his son when he was a kaafir

And Nuh (Noah) called upon his Lord and said, "O my Lord! Verily, my son is of my family! And certainly, Your Promise is true, and You are the Most Just of the judges." (Hud 11:45)
He said: "O Nuh (Noah)! Surely, he is not of your family; verily, his work is unrighteous, so ask not of Me that of which you have no knowledge! I admonish you, lest you be one of the ignorants." (Hud 11:46)

Nuh (Noah) said: "O my Lord! I seek refuge with You from asking You that of which I have no knowledge. And unless You forgive me and have Mercy on me, I would indeed be one of the losers." (Hud 11:47)

-the only thing that can save you from wrong dua is the knowledge of tawheed

Narrated Anas bin Malik: A bedouin urinated in the mosque and the people ran to (beat) him, but the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: Leave him alone; don't interrupt him. He (the narrator) said: And when he had finished, he called for a bucket of water and poured it over. [al-Bukhari (6025) and Muslim (284)]

Abu Huraira (RA) narrated that a villager came to the mosque; the Allah's Messenger (SAW) was also sitting there. 147]

Narrated Muawiya: I heard the Prophet (SAW) saying, "If Allah wants to do good to a person, He makes him comprehend the religion. I am just a distributor, but the grant is from Allah. (And remember) that this nation (true Muslims) will keep on following Allah's teachings strictly and they will not be harmed by any one going on a different path till Allah's order (Day of Judgment) is established." [al-Bukhari (71) and Muslim (1037)]

-knowledge and sincerity is the only thing that can save you from wrong dua
-or correct aqeeda
-you are not allowed to say ' Oh Allah forgive me if You want to forgive me"

Abu Hurayra reported that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, “Each of you will be answered as long as he does not become over-impatient, saying, ‘I called on my Lord and He did not answer me.’” [al-Bukhari (6340) and Muslim (2735)]

In a variant of Muslim, “The slave continues to be answered, provided he does not pray for a wrong action or severance of kin, as long as he does not become over-impatient.” It was said, “Messenger of Allah, what is over-impatience?” He said, "He says, ‘I prayed and I prayed and I did not find Him answering me,’ so he stops short at that and ceases making supplication.” [Sahih Muslim (4/2096) No. 2735]

Abu Hurayra reported that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, “None of you should say, ‘O Allah, forgive me if You will. O Allah, have mercy on me if You will.’ He should be firm in his asking. No one can force Him.” [al-Bukhari (6339) and Muslim (2679)]

In a variant of Muslim, “He should be firm and should have great desire. Nothing is too great for Allah Almighty to give him.” [Sahih Muslim (4/2063) No. 2679]

On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (RA), who said that the Prophet (SAW) said: "Allah the Almighty said: 'I am as My servant thinks I am. I am with him when he makes mention of Me. If he makes mention of Me to himself, I make mention of him to Myself; and if he makes mention of Me in an assembly, I make mention of him in an assembly better than it. And if he draws near to Me an arm's length, I draw near to him a fathom's length. And if he comes to Me walking, I go to him at speed." [al-Bukhari (7405) also by Muslim (2675), at-Tirmidhi (2388) and Ibn Majah (3822)]

-you need to be positive in making dua
-there is nothing too great for Allah to do
-and He is to you as you take Him to be

QUESTION 4:-

Assalamu alaikum, if someone transgresses against their parents and apologized to them, does he/she have to make taubah?

Answer 4:-

Yes you have to apologise and then make taubah
-your taubah will be accepted if they forgive you

And let not those among you who are blessed with graces and wealth swear not to give (any sort of help) to their kinsmen, Al-Masakin (the poor), and those who left their homes for Allah's Cause. Let them pardon and forgive. Do you not love that Allah should forgive you? And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. (An-Nur 24:22)

Narrated By Az-Zuhri: I heard 'Urwa bin Az-Zubair, Said bin Al-Musaiyab, 'Alqama bin Waqqas and 'Ubaidullah bin 'Abdullah bin 'Uqba relating from 'Aisha, the wife of the Prophet the narration of the people (i.e. the liars) who spread the slander against her and they said what they said, and how Allah revealed her innocence. Each of them related to me a portion of that narration. (They said that 'Aisha said), ''Then Allah revealed the ten Verses starting with: 'Verily! Those who spread the slander...' (24.11-21) All these verses were in proof of my innocence. Abu Bakr As-Siddiq who used to provide for Mistah some financial aid because of his relation to him, said, "By Allah, I will never give anything (in charity) to Mistah, after what he has said about 'Aisha" Then Allah revealed: 'And let not those among you who are good and are wealthy swear not to give (any sort of help) to their kins men...' (24.22) On that, Abu Bakr said, "Yes, by Allah, I like that Allah should forgive me." and then resumed giving Mistah the aid he used to give him and said, "By Allah! I will never withhold it from him." [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 8, Book 78, Hadith #670]

-so they need to forgive you so Allah can forgive them
-you should always forgive a Muslim but not munafiq
-because it is not the Sunnah to forgive munafiqs
-if you don't forgive Muslims you will put their hereafter in jeopardy

QUESTION 5:-

Assalamu alaikum can you please describe to us some major points about shirk al asghar and if it can take you to the fire? And takfir regards to it JazakAllah khair.

Answer 5:-

This is when you do good to show off

Abu Hurayra said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah (SAW) say, 'The first of people to be judged on the Day of Rising will be a man who was martyred. He will be brought and will be informed of the blessings he had and will acknowledge them. Allah will say, "What did you do with them?" He will say, "I fought for You until I was martyred." Allah will say, "You lie. Rather you fought so it would be said, 'A bold man!' And so it was said." Then the command will be given and he will be dragged on his face until he is thrown into the Fire. There will also be a man who studied knowledge and taught it and recited the Qur'an. He will be brought and informed of his blessings which he will acknowledge. Allah will say, "What did you do with them?" He will say, "I studied knowledge and taught it and I recited the Qur'an for You." He will say, "You lie. Rather you studied so that it would be said, 'A scholar!' and you recited so that it would be said, 'He is a reciter!' And so it was said." Then the command will be given and he will be dragged on his face until he is thrown into the Fire. There will also be a man to whom Allah gave a lot of wealth and all sorts of property. He will be brought and informed of his blessings which he will acknowledge. Allah will say, "What did you do with them?" He will say, "There was no path in which You like spending to be done but that I spent in it for You." He will say, "You lie. Rather you did it so that it would be said, 'He is generous.' and so it was said." Then the command will be given and he will be dragged on his face until he is thrown into the Fire.'" [Sahih Muslim (3/1513) No. 1905]

-but you won't remain there forever

And (remember) when your Lord brought forth from the Children of Adam, from their loins, their seed (or from Adam's loin his offspring) and made them testify as to themselves (saying) : "Am I not your Lord?" They said: "Yes! We testify," lest you should say on the Day of Resurrection: "Verily, we have been unaware of this." (Al-A'raf 7:172)

Narrated from Anas (RA) that a man said: “O Messenger of Allah, where is my father?” He said: “In Hell.” When he turned away he called him back and said: “My father and your father are in Hell.” [Sahih Muslim (Vol. 1, pg. 191) No. 203]

-there is no excuse of ignorance for major shirk

And it has already been revealed to you in the Book (this Qur'an) that when you hear the Verses of Allah being denied and mocked at, then sit not with them, until they engage in a talk other than that; (but if you stayed with them) certainly in that case you would be like them. Surely, Allah will collect the hypocrites and disbelievers all together in Hell, (An-Nisa 4:140)

And when it is said to them: "Make not mischief on the earth," they say: "We are only peacemakers." (Al-Baqarah 2:11)

Verily! They are the ones who make mischief, but they perceive not. (Al-Baqarah 2:12)
