Idris comes from the word "dars" (lesson)

He was called Idris because he was a great teacher and philosopher

He was endowed with both knowledge and Hikma

The reason is because knowledge without Hikma (wisdom) is a recipe for disaster.
Therefore, to have knowledge is not enough. Knowledge must be accompanied with wisdom.

The definition of wisdom is to say and do right things at the right time, right place and in the right manner

The peak of wisdom is to fear Allah (SWT)

Sufyan Ath-Thawri from Abdur Rahman Bin Abbas said Ayas Abu Yahya related to me from Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (RA) he used to say in his sermon the best provision is piety and the peak of wisdom is to fear Allah. “Fearing Allah is the peak of wisdom.”

(Ibid) [Bayhaqi in Sha'ab al Imaan (1/470) and Sunan al-Kubra]

He grants Hikmah to whom He pleases, and he, to whom Hikmah is granted, is indeed granted abundant good. But none remember (will receive admonition) except men of understanding.

(Al-Baqarah 2:269)

Idris came from the lineage of Seth (the son of Adam).

When Idris was born, Adam was already 308 years old.

When the Rasul went to al israa wal miraaj, he met some Prophets.

He went on the 27th night of Rajab.

He met Adam in the first heaven.

Sometimes Adam would frown and sometimes he would smile.

Every time Adam (AS) saw the soul of someone whose destiny is the hell fire, he would frown.

And when he saw someone whose destiny is paradise, he would smile.

The Prophet saw Yahya in the second heaven.

The Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) said: "So the gate was opened and we went over the nearest heaven and there we saw a man sitting with some people on his right and some on his left. When he looked towards his right, he laughed and when he looked towards his left he wept. Then he said, 'Welcome! 0 pious Prophet and pious son' I asked Gabriel: 'Who is he?' He replied: 'He is Adam and the people on his right and left are the souls of his offspring. Those on his right are the people of Paradise and those on his left are the people of Hell and when he looks towards his right he laughs and when he looks towards his left he weeps."

(Al-Bukhari and Muslim)

He also saw Jesus in the second heaven.

He saw Yusuf in the third heaven.

Yusuf was given half the beauty of creation.

The Prophet (SAWS) saw the prophet that we are discussing, Prophet Idris, in the fourth heaven

In the fifth heaven, the Rasul saw Prophet Harun, the prophet who was loved by bani Israel.

In the sixth heaven, he saw Moses.

In the seventh heaven, he saw Prophet Abraham.

A lot of
children were with Abraham.

The Rasul asked the angel Gabriel who those children were.

The angel replied those are the kids that died before reaching puberty.

Narrated Malik bin Sasaa:

The Prophet said, "While I was at the House in a state midway between sleep and wakefulness, (an angel recognized me) as the man lying between two men. A golden tray full of wisdom and belief was brought to me and my body was cut open from the throat to the lower part of the abdomen and then my abdomen was washed with Zam-zam water and (my heart was) filled with wisdom and belief. Al-Buraq, a white animal, smaller than a mule and bigger than a donkey was brought to me and I set out with Gabriel. When I reached the nearest heaven. Gabriel said to the heaven gate-keeper, 'Open the gate.' The gatekeeper asked, 'Who is it?' He said, 'Gabriel.' The gate-keeper,' Who is accompanying you?' Gabriel said, 'Muhammad.' The gate-keeper said, 'Has he been called?' Gabriel said, 'Yes.' Then it was said, 'He is welcomed. What a wonderful visit his is!' Then I met Adam and greeted him and he said, 'You are welcomed O son and a Prophet.' Then we ascended to the second heaven. It was asked, 'Who is it?' Gabriel said, 'Gabriel.' It was said, 'Who is with you?' He said, 'Muhammad' It was asked, 'Has he been sent for?' He said, 'Yes.' It was said, 'He is welcomed. What a wonderful visit his is!" Then I met Jesus and Yahya (John) who said, 'You are welcomed, O brother and a Prophet.' Then we ascended to the third heaven. It was asked, 'Who is it?' Gabriel said, 'Gabriel.' It was asked, 'Who is with you? Gabriel said, 'Muhammad.' It was asked, 'Has he been sent for?' 'Yes,' said Gabriel. 'He is welcomed. What a wonderful visit his is!' (The Prophet added:). There I met Joseph and greeted him, and he replied, 'You are welcomed, O brother and a Prophet!' Then we ascended to the 4th heaven and again the same questions and answers were exchanged as in the previous heavens. There I met Idris and greeted him. He said, 'You are welcomed O brother and Prophet.' Then we ascended to the 5th heaven and again the same questions and answers were exchanged as in previous heavens. there I met and greeted Aaron who said, 'You are welcomed O brother and a Prophet". Then we ascended to the 6th heaven and again the same questions and answers were exchanged as in the previous heavens. There I met and greeted Moses who said, 'You are welcomed O brother and. a Prophet.' When I proceeded on, he started weeping and on being asked why he was weeping, he said, 'O Lord! Followers of this youth who was sent after me will enter Paradise in greater number than my followers.' Then we ascended to the seventh heaven and again the same questions and answers were exchanged as in the previous heavens. There I met and greeted Abraham who said, 'You are welcomed o son and a Prophet.' Then I was shown Al-Bait-al-Ma'mur (i.e. Allah's House). I asked Gabriel about it and he said, This is Al Bait-ul-Ma'mur where 70,000 angels perform prayers daily and when they leave they never return to it (but always a fresh batch comes into it daily).' Then I was shown Sidrat-ul-Muntaha (i.e. a tree in the seventh heaven) and I saw its Nabk fruits which resembled the clay jugs of Hajr (i.e. a town in Arabia), and its leaves were like the ears of elephants, and four rivers originated at its root, two of them were apparent and two were hidden. I asked Gabriel about those rivers and he said, 'The two hidden rivers are in Paradise, and the apparent ones are the Nile and the Euphrates.' Then fifty prayers were enjoined on me. I descended till I met Moses who asked me, 'What have you done?' I said, 'Fifty prayers have been enjoined on me.' He said, 'I know the people better than you, because I had the hardest experience to bring Bani Israel to obedience. Your followers cannot put up with such obligation. So, return to your Lord and request Him (to reduce the number of prayers.' I returned and requested Allah (for reduction) and He made it forty. I returned and (met Moses) and had a similar discussion, and then returned again to Allah for reduction and He made it thirty, then twenty, then ten, and then I came to Moses who repeated the same advice. Ultimately Allah reduced it to five. When I came to Moses again, he said, 'What have you done?' I said, 'Allah has made it five only.' He repeated the same advice but I said that I surrendered (to Allah's Final Order)'" Allah's Apostle was addressed by Allah, "I have decreed My Obligation and have reduced the burden on My slaves, and I shall reward a single good deed as if it were ten good deeds."

{Sahih Al Bukhari: Volume 4, Book 54, Number 429}

There are crucial prophets who weren't mentioned in the hadith like  Nuh, David and Saleh.

We can't answer why the Prophet (SAWS) did not see these prophets as well.

The word idrees is taken from the root word dars.

He was called Idrees because he was a great teacher.

He was the first philosopher.

Imam Tabari said he possesed great knowledge.

Idris spent some days teaching and some days just in the worship of Allah.

Idris was the first person to use the pen.

Allah spoke about the pen in Surah 96:4.

Who has taught (the writing) by the pen [the first person to write was Prophet Idrees (Enoch)],

(Al-'Alaq 96:4)

The pen is very powerful.

You can write a book and the book can start a revolution.

"The ink of the scholar is holier than the blood of the martyr."

[Related by al-Khateeb al-Baghdadi in 'Tarikh Baghdad' (2/190), He also said it was a fabricated hadith.]

Idris was given the gift of the bayan (speech) too.

The Most Beneficent (Allah)! Has taught (you mankind) the Qur'an (by His Mercy). He created man. He taught him eloquent speech.

(Ar-Rahman 55:1-4)

Idris was erudite. He was fluent in speech.

Speech can also cause a revolution.

Some men came to Madinah and the people were captivated by their speech.

Idris was blessed with speech and he was blessed with the pen.

Idris was the first person to use the stars to guide himself when he travelled.

Narrated Ibn 'Umar: 'Two men came from the East and addressed the people who wondered at their eloquent speeches. On that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: "Some eloquent speech is as effective as magic."'

[Sahih Bukhari (7/19) No. 5146]

Qutadah said: [And indeed We have adorned the nearest heaven with lamps... (Al-Mulk 67:5)] Allah created these stars for three purposes, i.e. as decoration of the sky, as missiles to hit the devils, and as signs to guide travellers. So, if anybody tries to find a different interpretation, he is mistaken and just wastes his efforts in seeking something of which he has no knowledge."

[Sahih Bukhari, Baab fi’l-Nujoom (4/107)]

And indeed We have adorned the nearest heaven with lamps, and We have made such lamps (as) missiles to drive away the Shayatin (devils), and have prepared for them the torment of the blazing Fire.

(Al-Mulk 67:5)

Allah told you one of the reasons he created the stars is to burn the shayateen.

On the authority of Zayd ibn Khalid al-Juhaniyy (RA), who said: The Messenger of Allah (SAW) led the morning prayer for us at al-Hudaybiyah following rainfall during the night. When the Prophet (SAW) finished, he faced the people and said to them: "Do you know what your Lord has said?" They said: "Allah and his Messenger know best." He said: "'This morning one of my servants became a believer in Me and one a disbeliever. As for him who said: 'We have been given rain by virtue of Allah and His mercy,' that one is a believer in Me, a disbeliever in the stars (2); and as for him who said: 'We have been given rain by such-and-such a star,' that one is a disbeliever in Me, a believer in the stars.'" (2) The pre-Islamic Arabs believed that rain was brought about by the movement of stars. This Hadith draws attention to the fact that whatever be the direct cause of such natural phenomena as rain, it is Allah the Almighty who is the Disposer of all things.

[Bukhari (also by Malik and an-Nasa'i).]

Abu Malik al-Ashari narrated the Prophet (SAW) said: ”There are four matters of jaahiliyyah that exist among my ummah  and they will not give them up: boasting about one’s forefathers, casting aspersions upon people’s lineages, seeking rain by the stars and wailing for the dead.”

[Sahih Muslim (Vol. 2 pg. 644) No. 934]

Idris was the first person to discover the use of the scales and weight and measurement

The people of Shuaib used to cheat with the scales.

Woe to Al-Mutaffifin [those who give less in measure and weight (decrease the rights of others)], Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, demand full measure, And when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. Think they not that they will be resurrected (for reckoning), On a Great Day,

(Al-Mutaffifin 83:1-5)

The traders will be resurrected as evil men except the ones who were truthful.

Our love for the dunya causes people to become con artists.

Some people con others out of their life savings.

There is even a dua you recite before going into a market place.

Traders tell you an item was made in Japan when it was made in Taiwan to con you.

Prophet Idris was the first tailor.

"The businessmen will be resurrected on the Day of Judgement amongst the sinful (fujjar), except those who have taqwa of Allah, and are honest and truthful."

Reported by al-Tirmidhi (1/228) who declared it hasan sahih, and al-Hakim (2/6) who authenticated it, as did al-Albani (al-Sahihah, # 994).

O Children of Adam! We have bestowed raiment upon you to cover yourselves (screen your private parts, etc.) and as an adornment, and the raiment of righteousness, that is better. Such are among the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of Allah, that they may remember (i.e. leave falsehood and follow truth).

(Al-A'raf 7:26)

Idris was the first person to perfect the art of tailoring.

Prophet Idris was mentioned in Surah Maryam:

And mention in the Book (the Qur'an) Idris (Enoch).Verily! He was a man of truth, (and) a Prophet. And We raised him to a high station.

(Maryam 19:56-57)

People claim Idris was a messenger. This is not true. Idris was a prophet.

The first messenger was Noah.

Idris had a friend among the angels who used to come for him and carry him between his wings.

One day Allah commanded the angel of death to take the soul of Idris in the fourth heaven.

The angel of death was baffled because Idris lives on earth.

Idris's angel friend came for him and took him for a ride.

The angel of death was coming down to the earth.

On the fourth heaven, the angel of Death, met with the angel who was a friend to Idris.

The angel of death asked that angel where Idris is.

The angel said Idris is on his back.

The angel of death said he wondered how he would be able to take the soul of Idris on the fourth heaven.

The angel of death then took the soul of Idris in the fourth heaven.

This is Ibn Kathir's tafseer Surah 19:57.

And We raised him to a high station. (Maryam 19:57)

When Allah said that, it means his soul was taken in the fourth heaven.

Tabari said We raised him to a high station means Idris's soul was taken in the fourth heaven.

Tabari said Idris was from the grandchildren of Adam, from the lineage of Seth.

Idris was the grandfather of Noah.
Idris was mentioned by Allah twice in the Quran: Surah 19:56-57 and Surah 21:8.

O People, if you should be in doubt about the Resurrection, then [consider that] indeed, We created you from dust, then from a sperm-drop, then from a clinging clot, and then from a lump of flesh, formed and unformed - that We may show you. And We settle in the wombs whom We will for a specified term, then We bring you out as a child, and then [We develop you] that you may reach your [time of] maturity. And among you is he who is taken in [early] death, and among you is he who is returned to the most decrepit [old] age so that he knows, after [once having] knowledge, nothing. And you see the earth barren, but when We send down upon it rain, it quivers and swells and grows [something] of every beautiful kind.

(Al-Hajj 22:5)

The words offspring of Adam in Surah 19:58 means Idris.

Those were the ones upon whom Allah bestowed favor from among the prophets of the descendants of Adam and of those We carried [in the ship] with Noah, and of the descendants of Abraham and Israel, and of those whom We guided and chose. When the verses of the Most Merciful were recited to them, they fell in prostration and weeping.

(Maryam 19:58)

The offspring of Idris means Noah.

When Allah speaks about the offspring of Noah, this is refering to Abraham.

The offspring of Abraham is Ismael and Ishaq.

Ishaq is the father of the Jews and Ismael is the father of the Arabs.

The sacrificial son that Allah spoke about in the Qur'an is Ismael because he was 13 years older than Ishaq.

The Jews envy Ismael for his status of being the sacrificial son.

So the Jews lie and say the sacrificial son was Ishaq.

The Christians follow the Jews and they lie in the churches saying the sacrificial son was Ishaq.

If you are a real Muslim, you have no choice but to believe the sacrificial son was Ismael and not Ishaq.

When we commemorate eid ul adha, we are celebrating Ismael being the sacrificial son.

Ismael is the father of the arabs because he married a yemeni girl.

The Jews migrated to Madinah hoping a prophet would be born from one of their tribes, because they were expecting a prophet to come in Madinah.

When the Prophet did come but from the children of Ismael and not Ishaq, it caused great enmity.

Those to whom We gave the Scripture (Jews and Christians) recognise him (Muhammad or the Ka'bah at Makkah) as they recongise their sons. But verily, a party of them conceal the truth while they know it - [i.e. the qualities of Muhammad which are written in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)].

(Al-Baqarah 2:146)

The Jews refused to accept Muhammad all in the name of asabiya (racism).

According to the Jewish doctrine, prophets can only be from the lineage of Ishaq.

The real racist is the Jew because any man who turns his back on paradise and prefers to go to the hellfire because of asabiya is a real racist.

The talmud is the peak of racism.

The offspring of Ishaq is Yaqub.

Yaqub is called Israel.

Yaqub has 12 sons and from the 12 sons we get the 12 tribes of Israel.

From the lineage of Yaqub, we have Musa, Harun, Zakaryia, Yahya and Jesus.

The Rasul married a Jewish girl, Safiyyah.

She was from the tribe of banu nadir.

When the Prophet was dying, she said she wished she was the one dying instead of him.

The other wives of the Prophet looked at her in astonishment.

The Prophet said Safiyyah's love is real.

Safiyyah was also a staunch supporter of Uthman.

When the Prohet (SAWS) migrated from Makkah to Madinah, the father and uncle of Safiyyah were discussing the Prophet and they confirmed that he is a prophet.

She was listening to them but they didn't know that.

She said she believed from that day.

Safiyyah had a dream that the moon landed on her lap.

Her husband interpreted the dream and hit her across the face. He accused her of falling in love with Muhammad.

The other wives of the Prophet were teasing Safiyyah by calling her yahoodiyyah (Jewess).

‘A’ishah said: The camel of Safiyyah daughter of Huyayy was fatigued, and Zainab had a surplus mount. The Messenger of Allah (saws) said to Zainab : Give her the camel. She said: Should I give to that Jewess? Thereupon the Messenger of Allah (saws) became angry and kept away from her during Dhu al-Hijjah, Muharram, and a part of Safar.

(Sunan Abi Dawud > Model Behavior of the Prophet (Kitab Al-Sunnah)

Regarding Safiyya's Jewish descent, Muhammad once said to his wife, "If they discriminate you again, tell them that your husband is Muhammad, your father was the prophet Aaron and your uncle was prophet Musa. In this case I'm superior to you."[2]The Mothers of the Believers in the Hadith

{The Muslim World, Volume 82, Issue 1-2: 1-36}

The Prophet always knew how to answer everything.
