DARS 3

The cause of revelation of this ayah is that the Jews sent the Pagan Arabs to ask Muhammad (SAWS) about prophet Yusuf (AS)

When Muhammad (SAWS) was able to tell them, it was a sign that he was a real prophet (SAWS)

He was illiterate, did not read the Torah or the Injeel

It teaches you different stages of life

AYAH 54

And the king said: "Bring him to me that I may attach him to my person." Then, when he spoke to him, he said: "Verily, this day, you are with us high in rank and fully trusted."

(Yusuf 12:54)

LESSON 55: WHENEVER YOU REPEL YOU ARE ABLE TO OVERCOME THE TEMPTATION OF A WOMAN, THE PEOPLE IN SOCIETY TRUST YOU

The king trusted Yusuf because he was able to fend the temptation of a very beautiful woman, Zuleyka

If you are always seducing the wives of others you will be hated and killed.

Poor men marry ugly women, not rich men, even stars of Hollywood when they reach 50 they can divorce their wives and marry someone who is pretty it is a status symbol for your wife to be pretty.

AYAH 55

[Yusuf (Joseph)] said: "Set me over the storehouses of the land; I will indeed guard them with full knowledge" (as a minister of finance in Egypt, in place of Al-'Aziz who was dead at that time).

(Yusuf 12:55)

LESSON 56: PRISON DID NOT DESTROY YUSUF MENTALLY, SPIRITUALLY, EMOTIONALLY

When you have Taqwa, prison will not destroy you

The word "mash up" means to destroy/ruin

For Yusuf (AS) to come fresh from prison and say "give me the job of minister of finance in Egypt" that means prison did not destroy Yusuf (AS) mentally, spiritually, emotionally

LESSON 57: THE BEST THING YOU CAN HAVE ON YOUR CV (CURRICULUM VITAE) IS TRUST WORTHINESS

AYAH 56

Thus did We give full authority to Yusuf (Joseph) in the land, to take possession therein, as when or where he likes. We bestow of Our Mercy on whom We please, and We make not to be lost the reward of Al-Muhsinun (the good doers - see V.2:112).

(Yusuf 12:56)

LESSON 58: THE KING GAVE YUSUF TOTAL AUTHORITY OVER THE MINISTRY OF FINANCE; HE DID NOT INTERFERE WITH HIS DECISIONS

He was like the second leader of Egypt

Probity means the ability to make the right decisions because of your Taqwa

The reason why the King gave him independence was that he had piety and probity

LESSON 59: YOU ARE ALLOWED TO APPOINT YOURSELF A PORTFOLIO IF YOU KNOW YOU ARE QUALIFIED FOR THE JOB

you are allowed to suggest, let me be.... if you are qualified for the job

LESSON 60: THE MINISTRY OF FINANCE IS VERY SENSITIVE BECAUSE YOU ARE GIVING IT WEALTH AND YOU NEED A PERSON WHO IS TRUST WORTHY TO CONTROL THAT MINISTRY

No one was better than Yusuf (AS) to be minister of finance.

The reason why Yusuf asked to be minister was because he wanted to help the people and he did not want a criminal to take that position.

Even the kafirs of Quraish would not trust their Pagan brothers to keep their belongings.

Yusuf (AS) was in Egypt and he saw it was a pagan society

Yusuf's (AS) brothers came and he was able to recognize them but they did not recognize him

AYAH 58

And Yusuf's (Joseph) brethren came and they entered unto him, and he recognized them, but they recognized him not.

(Yusuf 12:58.)

His brothers came from Canaan in the desert to buy food because the famine struck,
they were ten brothers

It is very embarrassing to not recognize your sibling as he recognizes you.

They did not recognize him because he was dumped in the bottom of a well with no shirt on his back and they thought that he died.

So they did not expect him to become minister of finance in Egypt, which was one of the most powerful countries at that time because they could not imagine this, Yusuf (AS) recognized them but none of them recognized him.

If Yusuf (AS) was not dumped in the bottom of a well and he was not picked up by travellers to be sold in the market place, Yusuf (AS) would not be able to save Egypt from famine.

LESSON 61: WHEN YOU HAVE AGED ITS POSSIBLE THAT SOME ONE WILL NOT RECOGNIZE YOU

They dumped Yusuf (AS) in the bottom of the well when he was approximately 10 years old

but he recognized them because he was a prophet of Allah (SWT) and he was blessed with wisdom

AYAH 59

And when he had furnished them forth with provisions (according to their need), he said: "Bring me a brother of yours from your father; (he meant Benjamin). See you not that I give full measure, and that I am the best of the hosts?

(Yusuf 12:59)

AYAH 60

"But if you bring him not to me, there shall be no measure (of corn) for you with me, nor shall you come near me."

(Yusuf 12:60)

AYAH 61

They said: "We shall try to get permission (for him) from his father, and verily, we shall do it."

(Yusuf 12:61)

When you love a person (Women) you love their kids, that's nature

AYAH 62

And [Yusuf (Joseph)] told his servants to put their money (with which they had bought the corn) into their bags, so that they might know it when they go back to their people, in order that they might come back.

(Yusuf 12:62)

AYAH 63

So, when they returned to their father, they said: "O our father! No more measure of grain shall we get (unless we take our brother). So send our brother with us, and we shall get our measure and truly we will guard him."

(Yusuf 12:63)

AYAH 64

He said: "Can I entrust him to you except as I entrusted his brother [Yusuf (Joseph)] to you a foretime? But Allah is the Best to guard, and He is the Most Merciful of those who show mercy."

(Yusuf 12:64)

In the above-mentioned Ayah Jacob (AS) asked "can I entrust him to you as I have done before"

A believer is not bitten in the same hole twice

Abu Huraira (RA) narrated the Prophet (SAW) said: "A believer is not bitten from the same hole twice.”

[Related by al-Bukhari (6133) and Muslim (2998]

Jacob (AS) as sceptical with Benjamin because the prophet (SAWS) said "a believer is not bitten in the same hole twice"

For example, you to be a Muslim and you are living in a wicked world and you are conned by a person twice, you are not a believer.

For ex, you lend person money, he steals your money and you lend him again.

AYAH 65

And when they opened their bags, they found their money had been returned to them. They said: "O our father! What (more) can we desire? This, our money has been returned to us, so we shall get (more) food for our family, and we shall guard our brother and add one more measure of a camel's load. This quantity is easy (for the king to give)."

(Yusuf 12:65)

Jacob (AS) had twelve (12) sons and he sent ten (10) to Egypt to buy food

The policy back then was one man one camel, and you will be able to pack food on the back of one camel

When they open their bags, they found their money had been returned to them

LESSON 62: YUSUF RETURNED THEIR MONEY TO THEM TO GIVE THEM AN ENCOURAGEMENT/INCENTIVE TO RETURN TO EGYPT

with his brother Benjamin born from the same mother, Rachel

Lea was Ugly she had bad eyesight, Rachel was beautiful,

Lea was given to Jacob (AS)

When he woke up in the morning he realised he slept with Lea so he told uncle

"you deceive me"

He told him "In our culture the older sister gets married first"

In the shariah of Abraham (AS) you can marry two sisters, not in the shariah of Muhammad (SAWS)

AYAH 66

He [Ya'qub (Jacob)] said: "I will not send him with you until you swear a solemn oath to me in Allah's Name, that you will bring him back to me unless you are yourselves surrounded (by enemies, etc.)," And when they had sworn their solemn oath, he said: "Allah is the Witness over what we have said."

(Yusuf 12:66)

LESSON 63: WHEN YOU DONT TRUST A PERSON YOU SHOULD LET THEM SWEAR BY ALLAH (SWT)

And if the person breaks his Wallahi, he becomes cursed he would be cursed by Allah (SWT), by the angels and the person you swore to the munafiqoon hide behind the Wallahi,

They have made their oaths a screen (for their hypocrisy). Thus they hinder (men) from the Path of Allah. Verily, evil is what they used to do.

(Al-Munafiqun 63:2)

LESSON 64: THE JOURNEY FROM CANAAN TO EGYPT WAS VERY DANGEROUS

Highway robbers were operating, you could be abducted and sold in slavery

Have they not seen that We have made (Makkah) a sanctuary secure, and that men are being snatched away from all around them? Then do they believe in Batil (falsehood - polytheism, idols and all deities other than Allah), and deny (become ingrate for) the Graces of Allah?

(Al-'Ankabut 29:67)

AYAH 67

And he said: "O my sons! Do not enter by one gate, but enter by different gates, and I cannot avail you against Allah at all. Verily! The decision rests only with Allah. In him, I put my trust and let all those that trust, put their trust in Him."

(Yusuf 12:67)

LESSON 65: JACOB WAS TRYING TO PROTECT HIS SONS FROM THE EVIL EYE BECAUSE THEY WERE VERY HANDSOME

By telling them enter through many gates, he was protecting them from the evil eye

Aisha (RA) said: The person who had put the evil eye on another would be ordered to do wudoo’, then the person who had been afflicted would wash himself (with that water).

[Sunan Abu Dawud (4/9) No. 3880]

The person who gave you the evil eye will have to make wudu, and the water he used, you have to use it to make ghusul that is the cure of the evil eye.

Sahl ibn Haneef narrated that the Prophet (SAW) came out and traveled with him towards Makkah, until they were in the mountain pass of al-Kharaar in al-Jahfah. There Sahl ibn Haneef did ghusl, and he was a handsome white-skinned man with beautiful skin. ‘Aamir ibn Rabee’ah, one of Banu ‘Adiyy ibn Ka’b looked at him whilst he was doing ghusl and said: “I have never seen such beautiful skin as this, not even the skin of a virgin,” and Sahl fell to the ground. They went to Messenger of Allah (SAW) came and said, O Messenger of Allah, can you do anything for Sahl, because by Allah he cannot raise his head.” He said, “Do you accuse anyone with regard to him?” They said, “ ‘Aamir ibn Rabee’ah looked at him.” So the Messenger of Allah (SAW) called ‘Aamir and rebuked him strongly. He said, “Why would one of you kill his brother? If you see something that you like, then pray for blessing for him.” Then he said to him, “Wash yourself for him.” So he washed his face, hands, forearms, knees and the sides of his feet, and inside his izaar (lower garment) in the vessel.

Then that water was poured over him, and a man poured it over his head and back from behind. He did that to him, then Sahl got up and joined the people and there was nothing wrong with him.

[Musnad Ahmad (3/486) No. 16023, Muwatta Malik (2/117) No. 1973, Sahih Ibn Hibban (13/470) No. 6106]

Maybe a baby has a fever, and the mother takes it to a doctor, if he cannot find out what the problem is, it maybe an evil eye.

They do not teach you these things in medical schools; evil eye is a spiritual problem, not physical.

LESSON 66: DO NOT EXPOSE YOURSELF TO HARM AND DANGER

So in life you should always take precautions, "tie your camel"

Jacob (AS) feared the evil eye because the religion predominant in Egypt was paganism

shirk was rife, zina was rife, black magic, evil eye, jealousy were rife because of shirk all the other evils become rife

And when they entered according to their fathers advice it did not avail them against Qadr of Allah (SWT)

AYAH 68

And when they entered according to their father's advice, it did not avail them in the least against (the Will of) Allah, it was but a need of Ya'qub's (Jacob) inner-self which he discharged. And verily, he was endowed with knowledge because We had taught him, but most men know not.

(Yusuf 12:68.)

AYAH 69

And when they went in before Yusuf (Joseph), he betook his brother (Benjamin) to himself and said: "Verily! I am your brother, so grieve not for what they used to do."

(Yusuf 12:69)

LESSON 67: YUSUF WAS MORE ATTACHED TO BENJAMIN THAN THE REST BECAUSE HE WAS HIS FULL BROTHER

When a person is your full brother or sister, you are more emotionally attached to them than a person who is only your half brother or half sister

AYAH 70

So when he had furnished them forth with their provisions, he put the (golden) bowl into his brother's bag, then a crier cried: "O you (in) the caravan! Surely, you are thieves!"

(Yusuf 12:70)

You are not allowed to drink with a golden or silver bowl

“Whoever eats or drinks from gold or silver utensils is indeed filing his stomach with the fire of hell.”

(Reported by Muslim.)

The Shah of Iran , his toilet was gold, that is how much he was dunya-fied, and the thought the toilet was his throne

AYAH 71

They, turning towards them, said: "What is it that you have missed?"

(Yusuf 12:71)

AYAH 72

They said: "We have missed the (golden) bowl of the king and for him who produces it is (the reward of) a camel load; I will be bound by it."

(Yusuf 12:72)

AYAH 73

They said: "By Allah! Indeed you know that we came not to make mischief in the land, and we are no thieves!"

(Yusuf 12:73)

AYAH 74

They [Yusuf's (Joseph) men] said: "What then shall be the penalty of him, if you are (proved to be) liars."

(Yusuf 12:74)

AYAH 75

They [Yusuf's (Joseph) brothers] said: "The penalty should be that he, in whose bag it is found, should be held for the punishment (of the crime). Thus we punish the Zalimun (wrong-doers, etc.)!"

(Yusuf 12:75)

Shariah of prophet's change from one shariah to another shariah, but the tawheed never changes.

AYAH 76

So he [Yusuf (Joseph)] began (the search) in their bags before the bag of his brother. Then he brought it out of his brother's bag. Thus did We plan for Yusuf (Joseph). He could not take his brother by the law of the king (as a slave), except that Allah willed it. (So Allah made the brothers to bind themselves with their way of "punishment, i.e. enslaving of a thief.") We raise to degrees whom We please, but over all those endowed with knowledge is the All-Knowing (Allah).

(Yusuf 12:76)

LESSON 68: THE LAW THAT YOU FOLLOW, THAT BECOMES YOUR DEEN

The Saudi Salafis slander the prophet Muhammad (SAWS)

When prophet Yusuf (AS) was in Egypt, he did not implement any Kafir Law; he implemented the Shariah of Abraham.

Don't listen to Kuffar like Abu Khadija; who claim prophet Yusuf (AS) implemented the laws of a kafir king

They will slander prophet Yusuf (AS) to protect their creed, accuse prophet Muhammad (SAWS) of Major kufr. Saudi Salafis are hypocrites

Shaikh debated a Madkhali, who claimed signing of treaty of Ubaydiya is just as "joining the UN"

AYAH 77

They [Yusuf's (Joseph) brothers] said: "If he steals, there was a brother of his [Yusuf] who did steal before (him)." But these things did Yusuf keep in himself, revealing not the secrets to them. He said (within himself): "You are in worst case, and Allah is the Best Knower of that which you describe!"

(Yusuf 12:77)

When they lived in the desert beggars; used to come to Yusuf (AS) he was so soft hearted he could not turn a beggar away, so he used to give dates, apples.

When they were living in Canaan, beggars used to come knocking for food.

So they would ask "Where is my food?" "Yusuf (AS) gave it to a beggar" this is what they meant.

AYAH 78

They said: "O ruler of the land! Verily, he has an old father (who will grieve for him); so take one of us in his place. Indeed we think that you are one of the Muhsinun (good-doers - see V.2:112)."

(Yusuf 12:78.)

AYAH 79

He said: "Allah forbid, that we should take anyone but him with whom we found our property. Indeed (if we did so), we should be Zalimun (wrong-doers)."

(Yusuf 12:79)

AYAH 80

So, when they despaired of him, they held a conference in private. The eldest among them said: "Know you not that your father did take an oath from you in Allah's Name, and before this you did fail in your duty with Yusuf (Joseph)? Therefore, I will not leave this land until my father permits me, or Allah decides my case (by releasing Benjamin) and He is the Best of the judges.

(Yusuf 12:80)

AYAH 81

"Return to your father and say, 'O our father! Verily, your son (Benjamin) has stolen, and we testify not except according to what we know, and we could not know the unseen!

(Yusuf 12:81)

AYAH 82

"And ask (the people of) the town where we have been, and the caravan in which we returned, and indeed we are telling the truth."

(Yusuf 12:82)

AYAH 83

He [Ya'qub (Jacob)] said: "Nay, but your ownselves have beguiled you into something. So patience is most fitting (for me). May be Allah will bring them (back) all to me. Truly He! only He is All-Knowing, All-Wise."

(Yusuf 12:83)

AYAH 84

And he turned away from them and said: "Alas, my grief for Yusuf (Joseph)!" And he lost his sight because of the sorrow that he was suppressing.

(Yusuf 12:84)

If you can cry, it means you are a good person you are a soft hearted.

If you cannot cry it means you are an evil person you are hard hearted even the prophet (SAWS) cried when he lost his son.

'Abdur Rahman bin 'Auf said, "O Allah's Apostle, even you are weeping!" He said, "O Ibn 'Auf, this is mercy." Then he wept more and said, "The eyes are shedding tears and the heart is grieved, and we will not say except what pleases our Lord, O Ibrahim ! Indeed we are grieved by your separation."

[Sahih Bukhari (2/83) No. 1303]

AYAH 85

They said: "By Allah! You will never cease remembering Yusuf (Joseph) until you become weak with old age, or until you be of the dead."

(Yusuf 12:85)

The reason they said that was because they felt guilty that they caused his blindness by separating Yusuf (AS) from him.

Yusuf (AS) from Jacob (AS), they caused his blindness.

LESSON 69: CHILDREN CAN DESTROY THE HEALTH OF THE PARENTS BY CAUSING THE PARENTS GRIEF WITH THEIR BAD BEHAVIOUR

In south Africa, a woman suffered a nervous breakdown because her son was addicted to drugs

AYAH 86

He said: "I only complain of my grief and sorrow to Allah, and I know from Allah that which you know not.

(Yusuf 12:86)

When you are stricken with grief turn to Allah (SWT)

People will pretend to care to know your business to gossip about it.

AYAH 87

"O my sons! Go you and enquire about Yusuf (Joseph) and his brother, and never give up hope of Allah's Mercy. Certainly no one despairs of Allah's Mercy, except the people who disbelieve."

(Yusuf 12:87)

The reason you are not allowed to despair is because after a hardship comes ease

For indeed, with hardship [will be] ease.

(Ash-Sharh 94:5) Sahih International

Verily, with the hardship, there is relief (i.e. there is one hardship with two reliefs, so one hardship cannot overcome two reliefs).

(Ash-Sharh 94:6)

LESSON 70: A TRUE BELIEVER ALWAYS ENTERTAIN GOOD THOUGHTS ABOUT ALLAH (SWT) AND HE DOES NOT DESPAIR

It is kufr who despair

Say: "O 'Ibadi (My slaves) who have transgressed against themselves (by committing evil deeds and sins)! Despair not of the Mercy of Allah, verily Allah forgives all sins. Truly, He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

(Az-Zumar 39:53)

STORY OF PROPHET
YUSUF {AS} PART 4
CHAPTER 9

JANUARY 07 2014 / 26 SAFAR 1435 HIJRI

DARS 4

AYAH 88

Then, when they entered unto him [Yusuf (Joseph)], they said: "O ruler of the land! A hard time has hit us and our family, and we have brought but poor capital, so pay us full measure and be charitable to us. Truly, Allah does reward the charitable."

(Yusuf 12:88)

LESSON 71: YUSUF (AS) ENJOYED FULL AUTHORITY IN EGYPT

His brothers addressed Yusuf (AS) 'O ruler of the land'.

They did not recognise Yusuf (AS).

How can you dump someone in the bottom of a well with no shirt on his back and he becomes the ruler of Egypt?

Egypt was the superpower of the time.

That is because Allah (SWT) can turn the tables.

He can make the weakest become the strongest and the strongest become the weakest.

They accused Yusuf (AS) of being a thief but Yusuf (AS) controlled himself.

They didn't realise they were talking to Yusuf (AS).

They [Yusuf's (Joseph) brothers] said: "If he steals, there was a brother of his [Yusuf] who did steal before (him)." But these things did Yusuf keep in himself, revealing not the secrets to them. He said (within himself) : "You are in worst case, and Allaah is the Best Knower of that which you describe!"

(Yusuf 12:77)

LESSON # 72: YUSUF (AS) HAD AMAZING ABILITY TO CONTROL HIMSELF

They [Yusuf's (Joseph) brothers] said: "If he steals, there was a brother of his [Yusuf] who did steal before (him)." But these things did Yusuf keep in himself, revealing not the secrets to them. He said (within himself) : "You are in worst case, and Allaah is the Best Knower of that which you describe!"

(Yusuf 12:77)

Yusuf (AS) had amazing ability to control himself because they accused him of being a thief but he did not have an emotional outburst

Beggars used to come knocking on the door but he didn't turn them away.

He used to pick fruits and give them to the beggars.

Sometimes he would give his brothers' fruits to the beggars because he was soft hearted.

LESSON # 73: MONEY WAS IMPORTANT THEN AS IT IS NOW

The sons of Jacob (AS) came to Egypt with money and they said they didn't bring enough because they are poor.

And they sold him for a low price, - for a few Dirhams (i.e. for a few silver coins). And they were of those who regarded him insignificant.

(Yusuf 12:20)

Allah (SWT) said they sold Yusuf (AS) for a miserable price.

Dirham means silver coin; Dinar is gold coin.

Money has always been important.

The brothers of Yusuf (AS) came to Egypt and they did not bring enough dinar and dirham.

They said they didn't bring enough money but they asked to be given full measure.

If you don't have enough money, you are going to die or you are going to eat from the garbage can.

That is the reality of life.

Even in the Qur'an, it tells you the importance of money.

LESSON # 74: THEY BEGGED FOR SADAQAH

LESSON # 75: THE PREVIOUS PROPHETS TOOK SADAQAH BUT ACCORDING TO THE SHARIAH OF MUHAMMAD, MUHAMMAD (SAWS) AND HIS PROGENY CANNOT TAKE SADAQAH

'Abd al-Muttalib b. Rabi'a b. al-Harith reported that Rabi'a b. al-Harith and Abbas b. Abd al-Muttalib gathered together and said: By Allah, if we had sent these two young boys (i.e. I and Fadl b. 'Abbas) to the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) and they had spoken to him, he would have appointed them (as the collectors) of these sadaqat; He (the Holy Prophet) said; It does not become the family of Muhammad (to accept) sadaqat for they are the “IMPURITIES” of people”

(Sahih Muslim BOOK 5: CHAPTER 47 HADITH 2347)

The family of Jacob (AS) were asking for sadaqah because they were allowed to do so in their shariah.

They addressed Yusuf (AS) as the Ruler of the land.

Yusuf (AS) was given full authority because they trusted him due to his noble character.

You could not veto Yusuf (AS) at anytime.

Narrated by Anas (RA) The Prophet (ﷺ) passed by a date fallen on the way and said, "That I am afraid that it may be from a Sadaqa (charitable gifts), I would have eaten it."

(Sahih al-Bukhari Vol: 3 Book 45 Hadith: 2431)

LESSON # 76: YUSUF (AS) WAS GIVEN FULL AUTHORITY IN THE LAND BECAUSE OF HIS NOBLE CHARACTER

When you have a good character, it can take you to high places.

Yusuf (AS) was the ruler of the land and his brothers didn't even know they were talking to Yusuf (AS).

Narrated By Abu Darda': The Prophet (SAW) said: "There is nothing heavier than good character put in the scale of a believer on the Day of Resurrection."

[Sunan Tirmidhi (4/363) No. 2002, Sunan Abu Dawud (4/253) No. 4799, Musnad Ahmad (6/446) No. 27557]

LESSON # 77: THEY HUMBLED THEMSELVES WHEN THEY WERE BEGGING

You can't beg with pride and arrogance.

A beggar can't be proud.

Abu Hurayra reported that the Messenger of Allah (SAW), said, "There are three people that Allah will not speak to on the Day of Rising nor purify nor look at and they will have a painful punishment: an old adulterer, a lying ruler and a poor person who is arrogant."

[Sahih Muslim (1/102) No. 107, Musnad Ahmad (2/480) No. 10232]

Allah (SWT) used Surah Fatiha to teach you how to beg.

After you praise, honour and glorify Allah (SWT), you beg Allah (SWT) for guidance.

The brothers of Yusuf (AS) humbled themselves when they came to Egypt begging.

A beggar cannot be arrogant.

LESSON # 78: THEY ADDRESSED YUSUF (AS) WITH HIS TITLE: 'O RULER OF THE LAND'

Whenever you want to beg someone in authority, always address the person with their title.

Whenever you are begging, you have to massage the person's ego.

Then you'll get what you are begging for.

LESSON # 79: WHEN THEY WERE WITH YUSUF (AS) AND THEY BEGGED, THEY SHOWED GOOD MANNERS. IT PROVES PROPHET JACOB TAUGHT HIS SONS GOOD MANNERS.

Ayyub ibn Musa reported on the authority of his father who from his grand father that Allah’s Messenger (SAW) said, “No father gave a better gift to his son than (teaching) good manners."

[Sunan Tirmidhi (4/338 No. 1952, Musnad Ahmad (4/78 No. 16763] (Daeef)

LESSON # 80: THEY SAID, 'O RULER OF THE LAND'. THIS PROVES ALLAH GIVES POWER TO WHOM HE PLEASE AND HE TAKES IT AWAY FROM WHOM HE PLEASE

Say (O Muhammad SAW) : "O Allah! Possessor of the kingdom, You give the kingdom to whom You will, and You take the kingdom from whom You will, and You endue with honour whom You will, and You humiliate whom You will. In Your Hand is the good. Verily, You are Able to do all things.

(Aali Imran 3:26)

They dumped Yusuf  (AS) in the bottom of the well with no shirt on his back and now they have come to him begging to give them full measure even though they are short of money.

The reason for this is because Allah (SWT) gives the kingdom to whom he please.

When you see Yusuf (AS) being dumped in the well and now he becomes the ruler of the land, now you realise the relevance of the above ayah when He says he gives the kingdom to whom he wills.

Gaddafi had to run away from his palaces.

LESSON # 81: THE PREDICTION OF THE AZIZ CAME TO PASS

When the Aziz bought Yusuf (AS) and took him home, he told his wife to treat him well because he may become of great importance.

This prediction came to pass.

Yusuf (AS) saved the whole of Egypt and some of its surroundings from starvation.

Three people had great firaasa (intuition): The Aziz, the daughter of the old man who asked to hire Moses (AS) and Abu Bakr (RA) when he appointed Umar (RA) to be the caliph after him.

Ibn Masoud said, “There are three people with the sharpest firasah. The Egyptian who bought Yusuf and then said to his wife, ‘Make his stay comfortable, maybe he will profit for us or we shall adopt him as a son.’ [12:21]. The other was the daughter of Shuaib, who said to her father with regards to Musa, ‘Hire him!’ [28:26] And Abu Bakr, for he appointed Omar as his successor.” Another narration includes the wife of Pharaoh who said about Musa, “A comfort of the eye for me and for you. Kill him not, perhaps he may be of benefit to us, or we may adopt him as a son.’ [28:9]

LESSON # 82: WHEN THEY EXPLAINED THEIR PLIGHT TO YUSUF (AS), THAT THEY HAVE LITTLE MONEY AND THE FAMINE IS BITING, YUSUF (AS) STARTED TO CRY

When Yusuf (AS) started to cry profusely, they asked if he is Yusuf (AS).

LESSON # 83: YOUR BODY LANGUAGE CAN GIVE YOU AWAY

He realised his mother, Rachel, was suffering so he cried.

If you go to a supermarket without enough money, would the manager cry for you?

It is impossible. They are capitalists; they hate poor people.

Yusuf (AS) is crying because his beloved mother and father are suffering.

You can tell if person hates you or loves you from their body language.

Yusuf (AS) started to cry when he saw the poor capital his brothers brought.

His brothers were clever so they knew he was Yusuf (AS).

LESSON # 84: PEOPLE ARE EMOTIONALLY ATTACHED TO THEIR FAMILIES

This is why Yusuf (AS) cried.

Narrated By Jubair bin Mut'im: That he heard the Prophet saying, "The person who severs the bond of kinship will not enter Paradise."

[Al-Bukhari (5984) and Muslim (2556)

If there is a culture, where people support and love their family, that is a superior culture.

Blood is thicker than water.

Thawban reported that the Prophet (SAW), said, "The best dinar a man spends is the dinar which he spends on his family, the dinar which he spends on his companions in the Way of Allah, and the dinar which he spends on his riding animal in the Way of Allah." One of the transmitters, Abu Qilaba, said, He began with the family, Who has a greater reward that the man who spends on small children until such time that Allah Almighty makes them able to support themselves."

[Al-Adab al-Mufrad Al-Bukhari, #748]

LESSON # 85: EVEN PROPHETS HAD EMOTIONS

This is why Yusuf (AS) cried.

When the Prophet's son died, the Prophet (SAWS) cried.

He said he was crying because it was from the mercy of Allah (SWT).

Narrated By Anas bin Malik: We went with Allah's Apostle (p.b.u.h) to the blacksmith Abu Saif, and he was the husband of the wet-nurse of Ibrahim (the son of the Prophet). Allah's Apostle took Ibrahim and kissed him and smelled him and later we entered Abu Saif's house and at that time Ibrahim was in his last breaths, and the eyes of Allah's Apostle (p.b.u.h) started shedding tears. 'Abdur Rahman bin 'Auf said, "O Allah's Apostle, even you are weeping!" He said, "O Ibn 'Auf, this is mercy." Then he wept more and said, "The eyes are shedding tears and the heart is grieved, and we will not say except what pleases our Lord, O Ibrahim! Indeed we are grieved by your separation."

[Trans Sahih Bukhari Vol: 2 Book 23 No. 390]

LESSON # 86: WHEN YOU ARE YOUNG, YOU DO A LOT OF BAD THINGS. IT IS CALLED THE CURSE OF YOUTH.

AYAH 89

He said: "Do you know what you did with Yusuf (Joseph) and his brother, when you were ignorant?"

(Yusuf 12:89)

With age, you become pious and wiser.

They dumped him in the well years ago. Some scholars said 40 years ago, and some said 80 years ago.

When you are young, you do stupid things; It is the curse of youth.

Abu Huraira narrated the Prophet (SAW) said: “There are seven whom Allah will shade in His Shade on the Day when there is no shade except His Shade: a just ruler; a youth who grew up in the worship of Allah the Mighty and Majestic; a man whose heart is attached to the mosques; two men who love each other for Allah's sake meeting for that and parting upon that a man who is called by a woman of beauty and position [for illegal intercourse] but be says: 'I fear Allah', a man who gives in charity and hides it, such that his left hand does not know what his right hand gives in charity; and a man who remembered Allah in private and so his eyes shed tears'

[Al-Bukhari (660) and Muslim (1031)]

This is why a youth who grew up in Islam and didn't go astray will be under the shade of Allah (SWT).

LESSON # 87: YUSUF (AS) ADMITTED HE WAS YUSUF (AS) BECAUSE A PROPHET CANNOT LIE

Prophets are infallible; They do not do haram deliberately.

Moses didn't kill the person deliberately.

When Abraham (AS) lied, they weren't real lies. When he said Sarah was his sister, he meant sister in Islam.

Yusuf (AS) didn't go to bed with Zulaikha because prophets are infallible.

LESSON # 88: BENJAMIN, THE BROTHER OF YUSUF (AS), WAS VERY TRUSTWORTHY. HE DIDN'T EXPOSE THE SECRET.

The reason why Yusuf (AS) was so close to Benjamin was because they had the same mother, Rachel.

AYAH 91

They said: "By Allah! Indeed Allah has preferred you above us, and we certainly have been sinners."

(Yusuf 12:91)

LESSON # 89: THE BROTHERS OF YUSUF (AS) ADMITTED THE SUPERIORITY OF YUSUF ABOVE THEM BECAUSE THEY DUMPED HIM IN THE WELL THINKING HE DIED BUT HE IS NOW THE RULER OF THE LAND

They acknowledged Allah's (SWT) power to do what Allah (SWT) wills.

LESSON # 90: WHO ALLAH (SWT) BLESS, NO MAN CAN CURSE

LESSON # 91: THE BROTHERS OF YUSUF (AS) ADMITTED THEY WERE SINNERS; THIS PROVES THEY WERE GOOD PEOPLE

You are not evil if you commit a sin. You are evil if you refuse to accept you have sinned and refuse to make tawba.

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger having said: “By Him in Whose Hand is my life, if you were not to commit sin, Allah would sweep you out of existence and He would replace (you by) those people who would commit sin and seek forgiveness from Allah, and He would have pardoned them.”

[Sahih Muslim  Book 37 Chapter 2 Hadith 6622]

The sinner who is evil is the one who refuses to accept he has sinned, refuses to make tawba and refuses to ask for forgiveness from the person they have wronged.

The reason why the brothers of Yusuf (AS) dumped him in the well is because the shaitaan runs in our veins the way blood does.

Narrated Ali bin Al Hussain The Prophet said to them, "Come here. She is (my wife) Safiya bint Huyai." They replied, "Subhan Allah, (How dare we think of evil) O Allah's Apostle! (we never expect anything bad from you)." The Prophet replied, "Satan circulates in the human being as blood circulates in the body, and I was afraid lest Satan might insert an evil thought in your minds."

[Sahih Bukhari, Vol 3, Book 33, Hadith #254]

AYAH 92

He said: "No reproach on you this day, may Allah forgive you, and He is the Most Merciful of those who show mercy!

(Yusuf 12:92)

Yusuf (AS) forgave them because he realised that when they did it, they were young and jaahil.

LESSON # 92: YOU SHOULD FORGIVE YOUNG PEOPLE WHEN THEY MAKE MISTAKES

Don't be a khawaarij.

When people are young, they do stupid things.

Some girls were village bikes when they were young.

LESSON # 93: YUSUF (AS) HAD A SIMILAR PERSONA TO JESUS AND MUHAMMAD (SAWS). HE WAS FORGIVING

This is why he told his brothers he wouldn't rebuke them.

Some people don't forgive. If you hurt them, they talk about it for 10 years.

When the Prophet (SAWS) conquered Makkah, he didn't take revenge on the people after all they had done.

Because the Prophet (SAWS) didn't take revenge, they took their shahada.

The Arabs are very forgiving till today.

I made mistakes when I was studying there and they allowed me to graduate with flying colours.

"O Quraish, what do you think I will do to you?" They said, “You are a brother, the son of a noble brother.” He said: "Go your way, for you are free.”

[Al-Sunan al-Kubra al-Bayhaqi (9/199) No. 18276, Fath ul-Bari Ibn Hajar (8/18) No. 4289, Seerah Ibn Hisham (2/412), al-Seerah al-Nabawiyyah Ibn Kathir (3/570)]

And We have sent you (O Muhammad SAW) not but as a mercy for the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists).

(Al-Anbiya 21:107)

LESSON # 94: WHEN YOU ARE IN A POSITION OF POWER AND YOU ARE ABLE TO TAKE REVENGE BUT YOU DON'T AND YOU FORGIVE, THEN THE FORGIVENESS IS HIGHLY APPRECIATED
