NOTED DAY OF JUDGEMENT PART 1 {MARCH 19 2014}

PART 1

JUDGEMENT DAY

MARCH 19 2014 / 18 JUMADA AL ULA 1435 HIJRI

By Shaikh Abdullah Al Faisal

Noted Taken By @TI-Nspire & @Khmer_Muslim

Edited By Abu Hafiza & TI-Nspire

According to the scholars of Islam, Qurtubi, Gazzali and others say that the day of judgement has 50 different names.

NAMES OF THE DAY OF JUDGEMENT

#1 YAUM AL-QIYAMAH - THE DAY OF RESURRECTION

Because people will be brought back to life on this day

I swear by the Day of Resurrection; And I swear by the self-reproaching person (a believer).

(Al-Qiyamah 75:1-2)

#2 YAUM AL-AKHIR - THE LAST DAY

Because there will be no more days after that day.

You (O Muhammad SAW) will not find any people who believe in Allah and the Last Day, making friendship with those who oppose Allah and His Messenger (Muhammad SAW ), even though they were their fathers, or their sons, or their brothers, or their kindred (people). For such He has written Faith in their hearts, and strengthened them with Ruh (proofs, light and true guidance) from Himself. And We will admit them to Gardens (Paradise) under which rivers flow, to dwell therein (forever). Allah is pleased with them, and they with Him. They are the Party of Allah. Verily, it is the Party of Allah that will be the successful.

(Al-Mujadilah 58:22)

#3 AS-SAA'AH - THE HOUR

O mankind! Fear your Lord and be dutiful to Him! Verily, the earthquake of the Hour (of Judgement) is a terrible thing. The Day you shall see it, every nursing mother will forget her nursling, and every pregnant one will drop her load, and you shall see mankind as in a drunken state, yet they will not be drunken, but severe will be the Torment of Allah.

(Al-Hajj 22:1-2)

Because the Arabs call something the hour to say, it is near.

#4 YAUM AL-BA'TH - THE DAY OF AWAKENING

Because Allah (SWT) will give life to the dead on that day

#5 YAUM AL-KHUROOJ - THE DAY OF COMING OUT

Because people will come out of their graves on that day.

#6 AL QARI'AH - THE GREAT CALAMITY

Al-Qari'ah (the striking Hour i.e. the Day of Resurrection), What is the striking (Hour)? And what will make you know what the striking (Hour) is? It is a Day whereon mankind will be like moths scattered about, And the mountains will be like carded wool,

(Al-Qari'ah 101:1-5)

#7 AL FASL - THE DAY OF DECISION & SORTING OUT

Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time,

(An-Naba 78:17)

Why did Allah (SWT) call the day of judgement the day of decision?

Because in the dunya, you differed amongst yourselves in aqeedah issues and fiqh issues
Some of you were agnostic, pagans, atheists etc. So Allah (SWT) will decide who was right and who was wrong.

Because Allah (SWT) will decide who was right, who was wrong, the day of judgement is called the day of decision

Some of you were pantheists, who believe everything you see is Allah (SWT).

The Greek word pan means all, so there is no difference between the Creator and the creation according to the aqeedah of the pantheist.

The pantheist is another heretic.

You are not allowed to say, you respect all religions. You are only allowed to respect the haqq, the truth.

#8 YAUM AL-DIN - THE DAY OF RELIGION

The Only Owner (and the Only Ruling Judge) of the Day of Recompense (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)

(Al-Fatihah 1:4)

Because on the day of judgement, every religion will be there, and Allah (SWT) will treat you according to the religion you followed.

#9 AS-SAA'KHA - DAY OF THE FIRST BLOWING

Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), That Day shall a man flee from his brother, And from his mother and his father, And from his wife and his children. Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others.

('Abasa 80:33-37)

#10 AT-TAAMA AL KUBRAA - THE DAY OF THE FINAL BLOWING

#11 YAUM AL-HASRA - THE DAY OF GRIEF AND REGRET

"Ah! Woe to me! Would that I had never taken so-and-so as a friend!

(Al-Furqan 25:28)

It almost bursts up with fury. Every time a group is cast therein, its keeper will ask: "Did no
warner come to you?" They will say: "Yes indeed; a warner did come to us, but we belied him and said: 'Allah never sent down anything (of revelation), you are only in great error.'" And they will say: "Had we but listened or used our intelligence, we would not have been among the dwellers of the blazing Fire!" Then they will confess their sin. So, away with the dwellers of the blazing Fire.

(Al-Mulk 67: 8-11)

These are examples which show why the day of judgement will be a day of regret and grief.

They will regret if we had only used our aql

They will say if only we had used our aql we would not be in hell fire today on the day of judgement
It is a day of grief and regret

Another example to prove it is a day of grief and regret is surah 78:40

Verily, We have warned you of a near torment, the Day when man will see that (the deeds) which his hands have sent forth, and the disbeliever will say: "Woe to me! Would that I were dust!"

(An-Naba 78:40)

Qurtubi in his book Ad-tadhkira, animals do not have a free will, but humans do have a free will.

The animals act on their natural instincts. On the day of judgement, Allah (SWT) will say to the animals to become dust.  And when the kafir sees that blazing fire and realises that his destiny is in the hell fire to abide forever. He will cry out, ‘woe onto me, I wish I were dust’.  Just like the monkeys and the donkeys. Judgement day is a day of grief and regret.

When they see that the animals become dust, they would wish that they too became dust rather than being sent to hell to burn forever.

#12 AL GAASHIA - THE ENVELOPING DAY

Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection);

(Al-Ghashiyah 88:1)

It is impossible for you to escape that day, as Allah's punishment is overwhelming, so this is the meaning of al-Gaashia.

If you want to expose the deviants, you replace the last word of the ayah above with the deviant's name

i.e. raafidah, asha'ira, jabriyya, madkhalah etc.

#13 YAUM AL KHULOOD - THE ABIDING DAY

But those who disbelieve and belie Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) such are the dwellers of the Fire, they shall abide therein forever.

(Al-Baqarah 2:39)

Because people will abide in paradise or hell forever. However, no Muslim will abide in hell forever; he will be taken out by the intercession of the prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu alayhi wa sallam).

And for those whose faces will become white, they will be in Allah's Mercy (Paradise), therein they shall dwell forever.

(Aali Imran 3:107)

The angel will sacrifice a lamb and cry out ‘o people of Jannah there will be no more death and O people of hell fire there will be no more death’

#14 YAUM AL-HISAAB - THE DAY OF RECKONING

And We have fastened every man's deeds to his neck, and on the Day of Resurrection, We shall bring out for him a book which he will find wide open. (It will be said to him) : "Read your book. You yourself are sufficient as a reckoner against you this Day."

(Al-Isra 17:13-14)

Because on this day, the good and bad deeds of everyone will be counted. You will not be able to enter paradise until you give account of your wealth, how you spent and earned it, your knowledge, your health and time etc.

Everything will be asked about. All these things are called the reckoning

Narrated By 'Adi bin Hatim: The Prophet said, "There will be none among you but will be talked to by Allah on the Day of Resurrection, without there being an interpreter between him and Him (Allah). He will look and see nothing ahead of him, and then he will look (again for the second time) in front of him, and the (Hell) Fire will confront him. So, whoever among you can save himself from the Fire, should do so even with one half of a date (to give in charity)."

[Sahih Bukhari, Vol 8, Book 76, Hadith #547]

#15 AL WAA-QIA - THE GREAT INEVITABLE EVENT

When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. And there can be no denying of its befalling.
It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt;

(Al-Waqi'ah 56:1-3)

#16 YAUM AL WA-EED - THE PROMISED DAY

Because judgment day is a promised day by Allah Ta’ala in many verses of the holy quran

Therefore, it is refered to as yaum al waeed, the promised day

#17 YAUM AL-JAMI - THE DAY OF GATHERING

This gathering will be in Jerusalem.

One of the signs of judgement day is that a huge fire will come from Yemen and will drive the people to their place of gathering. The city of Jerusalem

Maymunah Bint Sa'd reports that she asked the Prophet (saw), "O Messenger of Allah, give us a pronouncement about Al-Quds (Jerusalem)". The Prophet (saw) replied, "It is the land where they will be raised (Al-Hashr) and gathered (Al-Mahshar)".

(Ahmad, Tabarani)

#18 AL HAA'QA - THE INEVITABLE REALITY

The Reality (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)! What is the Reality? And what will make you know what the Reality is? Thamud and 'Ad people denied the Qari'ah [the striking Hour (of Judgement)]! As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the awful cry! And as for 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious violent wind;

(Al-Haqqah 69:1-6)

The inevitable reality is the day of judgement

#19 YAUM TALAQ - THE DAY OF MUTUAL MEETING

On that day, Prophet Adam will meet his progeny and the inhabitants of Jannah will meet the people of the earth, the scholars will meet their students, the oppressors will meet the people they oppressed.

The victims will demand their rights, so the oppressors will have to give up their good deeds on that day, so it is unwise to oppress people as you will lose your salah, zakah, hajj and other good deeds on that day.

#20 YAUM TANAAD - THE DAY OF CALLING

Narrated By Abu Darda': The Prophet (SAW) said: "On the Day of Resurrection you will be called by your names and by your father's names, so give yourselves good names."

[Sunan Abu Dawood (4/287) No. 4948, Sunan al-Darime (2/380) No. 2694, Musnad Ahmad (5/194) No. 21739 (isnaad daeef)]

Allah (SWT) will call all the people on that day by their names.

The first right of the child is that they should not be bastardised i.e. they should be born through marriage.

Another right is that the child is given a good name. because Allah shall call you by your name

The child should be circumcised if it is a boy child

The child should have aqeeqah

To teach the child good Islamic upbringing

Teach the child quran and sunnah

Another right is the right they have to food, clothing and shelter

To show the child love

Abu Hurairah narrated: "Al-Aqra' bin Habis saw the prophet kissing Al-Hasan"- Ibn Abi 'Umar (one of the narrators) said:"Al-Hasan and Al-Husain." So he said: 'I have ten children and I do not kiss any one of them.' So the Messenger of Allah said: 'Whoever shows no mercy, he will be shown no mercy."

[Jami at-Tirmidhi Vol. 4, Book 1, Hadith 1911]

#21 YAUM AT-TAGAABUN - THE DAY OF LOSS AND GAIN

It will be a great gain for the believers and a loss for the kuffar.

Why is it that judgement day has many names? Whenever something is important its names are numerous and plenty

Anything that is importance has many names.

Because Allah (SWT) is important, Allah (SWT) has 99 names and attributes

Abu Huraira narrated the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: “Allah has ninety-nine Names, i.e., one hundred minus one, and whoever 'ahsaha' (enumerates them, believes in them, ponders their meanings, worships Allah by them and supplicates with them, and acts by them according to one's belief in them) will enter Paradise.”

[Al-Bukhari Vol: 9 Book 98 Chapter 12 (7392) and Muslim (2677)]

Judgement day will be on a Friday.

Abu Huraira reported the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) as saying: The best day on which the sun has risen is Friday; on it, Adam was created. on it, he was made to enter Paradise, on it he was expelled from it. And the last hour will take place on no day other than Friday.

[Mulsim: Book 7, Hadith 27] & {Sunan an Nasai: Vol. 2, Book 14, Hadith 1374}

How many times will the angel blow into the trumpet?

The majority of Muslims believe that the trumpet will be blown twice, but this is the wrong opinion.

Ibn Taymiyyah said that the trumpet will be blown three times and this is the correct opinion.

The first time the trumpet is blown, it is to cause horror and terror.

The second time the trumpet s blown is to cause death.

Everyone will die except Allah (SWT).

Whatsoever is on it (the earth) will perish. And the Face of your Lord full of Majesty and Honour will abide forever.

(Ar-Rahman 55:26-27)

The third time the trumpet is blown is to cause the people to be resurrected.

When the trumpet is blown on the third occasion, everyone will be brought back to life.

They will say: "Woe to us! Who has raised us up from our place of sleep." (It will be said to them) : "This is what the Most Beneficent (Allah) had promised, and the Messengers spoke truth!"

(Ya-Sin 36:52)

And the Trumpet will be blown, and all who are in the heavens and all who are on the earth will swoon away, except him whom Allah will. Then it will blown a second time and behold, they will be standing, looking on (waiting).

(Az-Zumar 39:68)

Who are those that Allah (SWT) will exempt from death in above-mentioned ayah?

There are three opinions among the scholars about who Allah (SWT) will exempt in above ayah

Opinion #1 THOSE PEOPLE THAT ARE ALREADY DEAD

Because you cannot die twice

Ibn Taymiyyah rejected this opinion.

Opinion #2 THE ANGELS

Because the angels don't die

Ibn Taymiyyah rejected this opinion as well. Because angels can die. As the angels will die when Israfeel blows into the trumpet and only Allah (SWT) will remain alive.

Whatsoever is on it (the earth) will perish. And the Face of your Lord full of Majesty and Honour will abide forever.

(Ar-Rahman 55:26-27)

Opinion #3 THE VIRGINS OF PARADISE

Because there is no death in paradise this is the correct opinion

Ibn Taymiyyah accepted this third opinion because there is no death in paradise.

PEOPLE WILL BECOME A NEW CREATION ON JUDGEMENT DAY

Hasan Basri (RA) says that an old woman came to Rasoolullah (SAW) and made a request, O’ Messenger of Allah make Dua that Allah grants me entrance into Jannah. Rasoolullah (SAW) replied, O’ Mother, an old woman cannot enter Jannah. That woman started crying and began to leave. Rasoolullah (SAW) said, Say to the woman that one will not enter in a state of old age, but Allah will make all the women of Jannah young virgins. Allah Ta’aala says, Lo! We have created them a (new) creation and made them virgins, lovers, equal in age. (Surah Waaqi’ah, 35-37).

[Shamaa-il Tirmidhi, Ch35, Hadith #230]

Because when they enter paradise, they will not suffer; grief, sorrow or pain and there will not be no jealousy.

There will be no jealousy between wives

They will not become old and be forever young in paradise as it is mentioned in the above-mentioned hadith.

Their age will be 33 years old and will be 60 arms length in paradise.

Mu’az ibn Jabal (RA) reported that the Prophet (SAW) said, "The deserving will enter Paradise hairless and beardless, their eyes as though collyrium was applied to them, (and their ages) thirty or thirty-three years.”

[Tirmidhi 2554, Ahmed 22167]

There will be no defecation, urination or menstruation or bleeding after childbirth.

There will be no spitting or blowing of the nose, or relieving oneself.

Narrated By Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "Allah created Adam in his complete shape and form (directly), sixty cubits (about 30 meters) in height

[Sahih Bukhari, Vol 8, Book 74, Hadith #246]

The women of paradise will have huge breasts.

And young full-breasted (mature) maidens of equal age;

(An-Naba 78:33)

Equal age means 33 years old

There will be no dirty talk or idle speech in paradise.

Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood,

(Al-Ghashiyah 88:11)

The wives will not be jealous of each other, because there will not be any jealousy in paradise.

WHO WILL BE THE FIRST TO BE RESURRECTED ON JUDGEMENT DAY?

The first person to be resurrected on judgement day will be the prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu alayhi wa sallam).

Abu Huraira narrated the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: “I am the most noble of Adam’s descendants on the Day of Resurrection. I am the first whose grave shall be opened. I am the first to offer intercession. I am the first whose intercession shall be accepted.”

[Sahih Muslim (4/1782) No. 2278]

The scholars of Islam are of the opinion that everyone will be resurrected unconscious except Prophet Musa.

Narrated Abu Said: The Prophet said, 'People will be struck unconscious on the Day of Resurrection and I will be the first to regain consciousness, and behold! There I will see Moses holding one of the pillars of Allah's Throne. I will wonder whether he has become conscious before me of he has been exempted, because of his unconsciousness at the Tur (mountain) which he received (on the earth)."

[Sahih Bukhari: Vol: 4 Book 55 Hadith: 610 and Bukhari: Vol: 4 Book 60 Chapter 25 Hadith: 3398]

Because he was made unconscious the day he asked Allah (SWT) to see Allah, when he saw the mountain crumble to dust.

And when Musa (Moses) came at the time and place appointed by Us, and his Lord spoke to him, he said: "O my Lord! Show me (Yourself), that I may look upon You." Allah said: "You cannot see Me, but look upon the mountain if it stands still in its place then you shall see Me." So when his Lord appeared to the mountain[], He made it collapse to dust, and Musa (Moses) fell down unconscious. Then when he recovered his senses, he said: "Glory be to You, I turn to You in repentance and I am the first of the believers."

(Al-A'raf 7:143)

For every nation there is a direction to which they face (in their prayers). So hasten towards all that is good. Wheresoever's you may be, Allah will bring you together (on the Day of Resurrection). Truly, Allah is Able to do all things.

(Al-Baqarah 2:148)

Allah (SWT) has promised to gather us together and assemble us, regardless of how we died. Some of us were eaten by wild animals, others were consumed by fire or in the sea. Even though we were in this state, Allah (SWT) will bring us back together in the barzakh and in the hereafter.

Like Allah (SWT) mentioned in the above ayah.

WHO WILL BE RESURRECTED?

Four creations will be resurrected on judgement day

Angels, Jinn, Man and Animals will be the 4 creations to be resurrected.

But only two will be accountable for their deeds - man and jinn - as these were given a free will. Animals and angels were not given a free will so they will not be accountable.

Because man and jinn have a free will, they are called ath-Thaqalain.

O you who believe! Ward off from yourselves and your families a Fire (Hell) whose fuel is men and stones, over which are (appointed) angels stern (and) severe, who disobey not, (from executing) the Commands they receive from Allah, but do that which they are commanded.

(At-Tahrim 66:6)

The ulama use the above-mentioned ayah to prove that the angels don't have free will.

As for the animal, Allah (SWT) will order them to become dust.

Allah (SWT) will not punish the animals.

Because it was acting on its natural instinct.

Verily, We have warned you of a near torment, the Day when man will see that (the deeds) which his hands have sent forth, and the disbeliever will say: "Woe to me! Would that I were dust!"

(An-Naba 78:40)

The kafir will wish on the Day of Judgement to become dust just like the animals.

HOW WILL MEN BECOME RESURRECTED

Men will be resurrected bare footed, naked, uncircumcised, unconscious, and thirsty, and the kafirs will be resurrected blind.

Some people will be crawling on their face in the Day of Judgement.

Those who will be gathered to Hell (prone) on their faces, such will be in an evil state, and most astray from the (Straight) Path.

(Al-Furqan 25:34)

Ibn Abbas (RA) was asked how could someone crawl in their faces? He replied Allah has the ability to do so.

"But whosoever turns away from My Reminder (i.e. neither believes in this Qur'an nor acts on its orders, etc.) verily, for him is a life of hardship, and We shall raise him up blind on the Day of Resurrection." He will say:"O my Lord! Why have you raised me up blind, while I had sight (before)." (Allah) will say: "Like this, Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) came unto you, but you disregarded them (i.e. you left them, did not think deeply in them, and you turned away from them), and so this Day, you will be neglected (in the Hell-fire, away from Allah's Mercy)."

(Ta-Ha 20:124-126)

Narrated By 'Aisha: Allah's Apostle said, "The people will be gathered barefooted, naked, and uncircumcised." I said, "O Allah's Apostle! Will the men and the women look at each other?" He said, "The situation will be too hard for them to pay attention to that."

[Sahih Bukhari, Vol 8, Book 76, Hadith #534]

On the Day of Judgement, you will ignore your surrounding because the situation will be extremely difficult.

WHAT CLOTHING WILL WE BE RESURRECTED IN?

Men will be resurrected in the same clothing he dies in.

A man went to hajj with the prophet (Sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) and died by falling off his camel. The messenger (Sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) will be resurrected as a pilgrim.

Narrated Ibn `Abbas: While a man was riding (his Mount) in `Arafat, he fell down from it (his Mount) and broke his neck (and died). The Prophet () said, "Wash him with water and Sidr and shroud him in two pieces of cloth, and neither perfume him, nor cover his head, for he will be resurrected on the Day of Resurrection saying, 'Labbaik,' (i.e. like a pilgrim)."

[Sahih al-Bukhari: Vol: 2 Book 23 Chapter 19 Hadith: 1265 & BukharI: Book 23, Hadith 27] & Bukhari: Vol: 2 Book 23 Hadith: 355}

As for a shaheed, he will be resurrected in his bloody clothing.

The blood will testify that he served Allah before his death.

You are not allowed to wash the shaheed.

You are not allowed to pray janaza over a shaheed because Allah said they are alive.

Think not of those who are killed in the Way of Allah as dead. Nay, they are alive, with their Lord, and they have provision.

(Aali Imran 3:169)

So to wash the shaheed and pray janaza over him is considered bida'a.

WHO WILL BE THE FIRST TO BE CLOTH ON JUDGEMENT DAY

It shall be prophet Abraham (AS).

Because the wicked king Nimrod threw him into the fire naked.

So Allah (SWT) will honor him by clothing him first on the Day of Judgement.

It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas that the Prophet said: "The people will be gathered on the Day of Resurrection naked and uncircumcised. The first one to be clothed will be Ibrahim." Then he recited: As We began the first creation, We shall repeat it.

[Sunan an-Nasa'i 2082 Book 21, Hadith 266]
