    EVIL DESIRES

BY SHAIKH ABDULLAH AL FAISAL

APRIL 18 2014 / 18 JUMADA AL THANI 1435 HIJRI

NOTES TAKEN BY @AT6

QURAN HUJJAH @AbuZ9 & AT19

HADITH HUJJAH @AT3

EDITED & FORMATTED BY Abu Hafiza & AT6

WHAT IS THE DEFINITION OF EVIL DESIRES?

- Evil desires is to love something which is haraam.

- It is to crave and yearn after something which is bad.

- It is to hanker after something which is haraam.

WHERE DO EVIL DESIRES COME FROM?

- They come from five different avenues

SOURCE # 1: THE SHAITAAN

- The shaitaan promised he will instil in mankind evil desires.

Allah (SWT) said in Quran surah An Nisa verse: 118-120

Allah cursed him. And he [Shaitan (Satan)] said: "I will take an appointed portion of your slaves; Verily, I will mislead them, and surely, I will arouse in them false desires; and certainly, I will order them to slit the ears of cattle, and indeed I will order them to change the nature created by Allah." And whoever takes Shaitan (Satan) as a Wali (protector or helper) instead of Allah, has surely suffered a manifest loss. He [Shaitan (Satan)] makes promises to them, and arouses in them false desires; and Shaitan's (Satan) promises are nothing but deceptions.

(An-Nisa 4:118-120)

- Slit the ears of cattle means he will make them become superstitious.

- To change the nature of Allah's (SWT) creation are things like sex change.

- There is no doubt that evil desires come from the shaitaan.

- Another evidence to prove this is Surah 15:32-40.

Allah) said: "O Iblis (Satan)! What is your reason for not being among the prostrators?" [Iblis (Satan)] said: "I am not the one to prostrate myself to a human being, whom You created from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud." (Allah) said: "Then, get out from here, for verily, you are Rajim (an outcast or a cursed one)." [Tafsir At-Tabari] "And verily, the curse shall be upon you till the Day of Recompense (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)." [Iblis (Satan)] said: "O my Lord! Give me then respite till the Day they (the dead) will be resurrected." Allah said: "Then, verily, you are of those reprieved, Till the Day of the time appointed." [Iblis (Satan)] said: "O my Lord! Because you misled me, I shall indeed adorn the path of error for them (mankind) on the earth, and I shall mislead them all. (Except Your chosen, (guided) slaves among them."

(Al-Hijr 15:32-40)

- These ayahs are saying the shaitaan is bent on revenge because he thinks Allah (SWT) gave him a raw deal.

Allah (SWT) said in Quran surah Al Isra verse: 62-64

[Iblis (Satan)] said: "See? This one whom You have honoured above me, if You give me respite (keep me alive) to the Day of Resurrection, I will surely seize and mislead his offspring (by sending them astray) all but a few!" (Allah) said: "Go, and whosoever of them follows you, surely! Hell will be the recompense of you (all) an ample recompense. And Istafziz [literally means: befool them gradually] those whom you can among them with your voice (i.e. songs, music, and any other call for Allah's disobedience), make assaults on them with your cavalry and your infantry, mutually share with them wealth and children (by tempting them to earn money by illegal ways usury, etc., or by committing illegal sexual intercourse, etc.), and make promises to them." But Satan promises them nothing but deceit.

(Al-Isra 17:62-64)

- The shaitaan has the Christians in his pocket.

- He has them thinking they will enter Paradise by believing Jesus died for their sins.

- All the false religions that promise Paradise are from Shaitaan.

SOURCE # 2: A BAD UPBRINGING

- A child who was given a bad upbringing was instilled with evil desires by his parents.

- The child was brought up eating pork and was told to get a girlfriend instead of getting married.

- Every child was born on fitrah; it was his parents who made him a Jew, a Christian or a fire worshipper.

Abu Huraira (RA) reported that Allah’s Messenger said, “Every child is born on the religion (of Islam). Then his parents make him a Jew, a Christian or a polytheist.” Someone said, “O Messenger of Allah, (what about) those who die before (their parents convert them)?” He said, “Allah knows best what they would have done (if they had survived).”

[Al-Bukhari: Vol: 8 Book 82 Chapter 3 (6599) and Muslim (265) Book 23 Hadith 113]

SOURCE # 3: EVIL ASSOCIATES

- Psychologists call this peer pressure.

- Allah (SWT) spoke about evil associates in Surah Al Furqan 25:28.

"Ah! Woe to me! Would that I had never taken so-and-so as a friend!

(Al-Furqan 25:28)

- Evil associates introduce you to alcohol, gambling, girlfriends, etc.

- They introduce you to all the haram.

- The above-mentioned ayah is clear evidence that evil associates will take you to the hellfire.

SOURCE # 4: THE MEDIA

- The media makes things that are an abomination in the sight of Allah fair seeming.

SOURCE # 5: THE INTERNET

- The internet is a double-edged sword.

- Many people come to the internet and they become Sufis and Shiites.

- All the human devils have set up websites and chartrooms inviting Muslim youth to the gates of jahannam.

- Many women who are living in villages become lesbians because of the internet.

- The internet can be used to learn your deen if you go to the right websites.

WHAT DID ALLAH SAY ABOUT EVIL DESIRES?

- Allah (SWT) told us in the Qur'an that there are people who worship their evil desires instead of Allah (SWT).

- The word for evil desires is hawa.

Allah (SWT) said in the Quran surah Al Jathiyah verse 23

Have you seen him who takes his own lust (vain desires) as his ilah (god), and Allah knowing (him as such), left him astray, and sealed his hearing and his heart, and put a cover on his sight. Who then will guide him after Allah? Will you not then remember?

(Al-Jathiyah 45:23)

- Allah (SWT) told you that those who worship their evil desires are beneath the level of the cattle.

Allah (SWT) said in the Quran surah Al Furqan verse: 43 to 44

Have you (O Muhammad SAW) seen him who has taken as his ilah (god) his own desire? Would you then be a Wakil (a disposer of his affairs or a watcher) over him? Or do you think that most of them hear or understand? They are only like cattle; nay, they are even farther astray from the Path. (i.e. even worst than cattle).

(Al-Furqan 25:43-44)

- Allah (SWT) doesn't want us to underestimate how lethal our evil desires are.

Allah (SWT) said in the Quran surah AL Mu'minum verse: 71

And if the truth had been in accordance with their desires, verily, the heavens and the earth, and whosoever is therein would have been corrupted! Nay, We have brought them their reminder, but they turn away from their reminder.

(Al-Mu'minun 23:71)

- So Allah (SWT) informed us in the above ayah that if He had revealed the haq to go along with the evil desires of men, both the heavens and the earth and what they contain will be completely destroyed.

- Allah (SWT) has promised Paradise to those who control their evil desires and He has promised the hellfire to those who get carried away with their evil desires.

Allah (SWT) said in the Quran surah An Nazi'at verse 37 to 41

Then, for him who Tagha (transgressed all bounds, in disbelief, oppression and evil deeds of disobedience to Allah). And preferred the life of this world (by following his evil desires and lusts), Verily, his abode will be Hell-fire; But as for him who feared standing before his Lord, and restrained himself from impure evil desires, and lusts. Verily, Paradise will be his abode.

(An-Nazi'at 79:37-41)

- Jaheem is for bad Muslims; you won't be there forever.

- You can't come out of jahannam. If you go there, you will be there forever.

- So there is a place for all the people in the world in hell.

- People who deny the day of resurrection will be in saqr.

THE VARIOUS TYPES OF EVIL DESIRES

1. LUST

Allah (SWT) said in the Quran surah Al Isra verse 32

And come not near to the unlawful sexual intercourse. Verily, it is a Fahishah [i.e. anything that transgresses its limits (a great sin)], and an evil way (that leads one to Hell unless Allah forgives him).

(Al-Isra 17:32)

- That is to hanker after unlawful pleasures of the flesh.

- For example, fornication, adultery, homosexuality and incest.

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "An adulterer, at the time he is committing illegal sexual intercourse is not a believer; and a person, at the time of drinking an alcoholic drink is not a believer; and a thief, at the time of stealing, is not a believer." Ibn Shihab said: 'Abdul Malik bin Abi Bakr bin 'Abdur-Rahman bin Al-Harith bin Hisham told me that Abu Bakr used to narrate that narration to him on the authority of Abu Huraira. He used to add that Abu Bakr used to mention, besides the above cases, "And he who robs (takes illegally something by force) while the people are looking at him, is not a believer at the time he is robbing (taking).

[Al-Bukhari: Vol: 7 Book 74 Chapter 1 Hadith: (5578) and Muslim (57)]

2. GREED

- You want more than you actually need.

- It is just you and your wife but you want a house with 20 rooms.

Ibn ‘Abbâs narrated: I heard the Messenger of Allah (SAW) saying, “If a son of Adam had a valley full of gold, he would desire to have two. Nothing can fill his mouth except the dust (of his grave). Allah turns with mercy to him who turns to Him in repentance.”

[Al-Bukhari (6437) and Muslim (1049)]

- Obesity is a huge problem because of greed.

- The believer eats with one intestine but the munafiq eats with seven.

Ibn Umar (RA) reported that the Prophet (SAW) said, “The believer eats in one intestine, while the disbeliever eats in seven intestines.’

[Al-Bukhari (5393) and Muslim (2061)]

3. RACISM

4. TRIBALISM

5. NATIONALISM

6. REGIONALISM

- There is an ayah in the Qur'an, which eradicates these evil desires.

- Hitler had a desire to see the German race dominate the world.

- He invaded 23 countries for the Aryan race to dominate the world.

Allah (SWT) said in the Quran Surah Al Hujurat verse 13

O mankind! We have created you from a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that you may know one another. Verily, the most honourable of you with Allah is that (believer) who has At-Taqwa [i.e. one of the Muttaqun (pious - see V.2:2). Verily, Allah is All-Knowing, All-Aware.

(Al-Hujurat 49:13)

- This Qur'anic verse eradicates racism, tribalism, nationalism, regionalism and all the isms and schisms the shaitaan uses to sow the seeds of discord.

7. MALE CHAUVINISM

- It is the desire to put women down and to prove to them that they are inferior.

Abu Huraira (RA) reported the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: "Take my advice with regard to women: Act kindly towards women, for they were created from a rib, and the most crooked part of a rib is it's uppermost. If you attempt to straighten it; you will break it, and if you leave it alone it will remain crooked; so act kindly toward women."

[Trans Sahih Al-Bukhari Vol: 4 Book 60 Hadith 3331 and Muslim (1468]

Abu Huraira (RA) reported that Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, "The most perfect of believers in belief is the best of them in character. The best of you are those who are the best to their women."

[Musnad Ahmad (2/472) No. 10110, Sunan Tirmidhi (3/466) No. 1162, Sunan Abu Dawud (4/220) No. 4682]

- The shaitaan is using things like racism and male chauvinism to sow the seeds of discord.

8. FEMINISM

- Feminism was started to protect women's rights.

- They used to speak out about burying girl children alive.

- The shaitaan infiltrated this movement.

- Now they believe they are independent of men.

Allah (SWT) said in the Quran surah Al Nisa verse 34

Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Allah has made one of them to excel the other, and because they spend (to support them) from their means. Therefore the righteous women are devoutly obedient (to Allah and to their husbands), and guard in the husband's absence what Allah orders them to guard (e.g. their chastity, their husband's property, etc.). As to those women on whose part you see ill conduct, admonish them (first), (next), refuse to share their beds, (and last) beat them (lightly, if it is useful), but if they return to obedience, seek not against them means (of annoyance). Surely, Allah is Ever Most High, Most Great.

(An-Nisa 4:34)

Men are in charge of women by [right of] what Allah has given one over the other and what they spend [for maintenance] from their wealth..

(An-Nisa 4:34) [Sahih International]

- This is the ayah (4:34) we use to refute feminism.

And among His Signs is this, that He created for you wives from among yourselves, that you may find repose in them, and He has put between you affection and mercy. Verily, in that are indeed signs for a people who reflect. (Ar-Rum 30:21)

9. TO HANKER AFTER MAN-MADE LAWS

- Allah (SWT) pronounced such people who prefer man-made laws over sharia as munafiqoon.

Allah (SWT) Said in the Quran Surah An Nisa verse 60

Have you seen those (hypocrites) who claim that they believe in that which has been sent down to you, and that which was sent down before you, and they wish to go for judgement (in their disputes) to the Taghut (false judges, etc.) while they have been ordered to reject them. But Shaitan (Satan) wishes to lead them far astray.

(An-Nisa 4:60)

FATAAWA OF CLASSICAL SCHOLARS:

Ibn Taymiyyah (rh) said: “And it is known from the religion (of Islam) by necessity and by the consensus of all Muslims that whoever legalizes to follow other than the religion of Islam or a Shariah other than the Shariah of Muhammad (SAW), he is a Kaafir. And his kufr is similar to that of the one who believes in some part of the book (Quran) and reject some of it.”

[Majmua al-Fataawa (28/524)]

Ibn Kathir (rh) said: “So Whosoever abandons the wise Shariah which was revealed upon Muhammad ibn Abdullah, the seal of the prophets, and goes to other abrogated Shariah for judgment, he becomes a Kaafir. So how about the one who goes to al-Yaasiq (man-made law) for judgment and gives it precedence (over the Shariah of Muhammad (SAW). Whosoever does this has become a Kaafir by the Ijma of the Muslims.”

[Al-Bidayah Wan-Nihayah, (Vol. 13, p119)]

Shaikh 'Abdul-'Azeez Ibn 'Abdullah Ibn Baaz said: "There is no Eeman for the one who believes the laws of the people and their opinions are superior to the Hukm of Allah and His Messenger or that they are equal to it or that they resemble it or who leaves it or replaces it with fabricated laws and institutions invented by people, even if he believes that the laws of Allah are more encompassing and more just."

[Wujoob Tah'keem Shari'ah Allah' (pg. 16-17)]

While 'Allama al-Shinqiti-May Allah be merciful with him-has said: To commit shirk with Allah in judging is of the same meaning as to commit shirk in His worship, there is no difference between the two in any manner. There is no difference in any sense between he who follows a system (nizam) other than Allah's system or law other than Allah's law (sharia) and he who worships an idol or prostrates to a false god. They are the same and both are polytheists [associating others] with Allah.

[Adwa' al-Bayan, (7/162)]

- One of the worst evil desires in the ummah of Muhammad Sallallahu alayhi wa sallam is to prefer man made laws over sharia.

- Such people are kuffar without even knowing.

- There is no iman for people who hanker after man-made laws.

Shaykh Ahmad Shaakir (d. 1377H): So look, O Muslims, in all of the Islamic countries or the ones which claim to be Islamic, in all the parts of the Earth, to what your enemies from the missionaries and colonists have done to you! They have put upon the Muslims, laws of misguidance, which destroy the etiquettes and the Deen. European laws, which are idols, which were never based upon any Sharee’ah or Deen, rather they were based upon rules that were made by the Kuffar who refused to believe in the Messenger of their era, Isa, alayhi sallam.“So whatever complies and whatever contradicts; both are stuck in the mud of misguidance and it leads the one who follows it to the Fire and it is not allowed for a Muslim to be submissive to it or be pleased with it.” – “

{Umdaat At-Tafseer Mukhtaasir Tafseer Ibn Katheer of Ahmad Shaakir”, Vol. 3/214-215}

Shaikh Muhammad Ibn Saalih al-'Uthaymeen said: "The first type is when the Hukm of Allah is removed and replaced with another Taghuutee Hukm, so that the Hukm of the Shari'ah is eliminated between the people and he puts in its place another Hukm from the fabrication of the humans and they remove the laws of the Shari'ah concerning the Mu'amalah (i. e. the general actions between people) and they put in its place fabricated laws and this, without doubt, is Istib'daal (i. e. replacement) of the Shari'ah of Allah subhaanahuu wa-ta'ala, with other than it. And this is Kufr which removes one from the Milla because this person put himself at the level of the Creator because he shara'a (legislated) for the slaves of Allah that which Allah ta'ala did not give permission for and that is Shirk in His, ta'ala's saying: "Or have they partners with Allâh (false gods), who have instituted for them a religion, which Allâh has not allowed?" (Ash-Shu'ara, 21) –

{"Fiqh Al-'Ebaadaat", #60}

10. TO HAVE IN YOUR HEART A LOVE FOR SUPESTITIONS

11. TO HAVE IN YOUR HEART A LOVE FOR BID'AH (CURSED INNOVATIONS)

- Allah (SWT) asked the people of bid'ah a crucial question in Surah 49:16.

Say: "Will you inform Allah about your religion? While Allah knows all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth, and Allah is All-Aware of everything.

(Al-Hujurat 49:16)

Aisha narrated the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: "Those who give respect to a bid'ati (innovator in Religion) surely will be counted as a helper of destroying Islam."

[Al-Tabarani in 'al-Mu’jam al-Awsat' (7/35) No. 6772 and al-Bayhaqi in 'Shu'ab al-Emaan' (12/57) No. 9018]

12. TO HANKER AFTER HERETICAL BELIEFS

- Allah (SWT) told you in the Qur'an people will hanker after heretical beliefs.

Allah (SWT) said in the Quran Surah Al Anam verse 68

And when you (Muhammad SAW) see those who engage in a false conversation about Our Verses (of the Qur'an) by mocking at them, stay away from them till they turn to another topic. And if Shaitan (Satan) causes you to forget, then after the remembrance sit not you in the company of those people who are the Zalimun (polytheists and wrongdoers, etc.).

(Al-An'am 6:68)

- The barelvis, Sufis, Shiites and parvezis hanker after heretical beliefs.

Allah (SWT) said in the Quran Surah Al Mu'minum verse 53

But they (men) have broken their religion among them into sects, each group rejoicing in its belief.

(Al-Mu'minun 23:53)

- One of the signs of the last day is that people will split their religion into groups and splinter groups.

- Every group is happy with their dodgy aqeeda.

- The man who says Muhammad is alive in the grave and you can pray to him is happy with his aqeeda.

You can call on muhammed - hamza yusuf: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TFezsaQnzhk

- The man who says Allah is everywhere because Allah cannot be restricted to a time and a place is happy with his dodgy aqeeda.

- The man who says Mirza Ghulam Ahmad is a prophet is happy with his aqeeda.

- The man who makes takfeer on the sahabas is happy with his aqeeda.

- All of them are happy with what they believe.

- Every human garbage is happy with their dodgy aqeeda.

WHAT DID THE ULAMA SAY ABOUT SITTING WITH THE PEOPLE OF HAWA?

Ibn 'Abbaas (radiyallaahu ‘anhumaa) said: "Do not sit with the people of ahwaa', for verily their gatherings cause sickness in the hearts." 1

{Al-Ibaanah #371}

Hishaam said: al-Hasan [al-Basree] and Muhammad bin Seereen used to both say: 'Do not sit with the people of ahwaa' and do not argue with them and do not listen from them."

{Al-Ibaanah of Ibn Battah #395}

Sufyaan ath-Thawree [d.161H] said: "Whoever lends his hearing to a person of bid'ah has gone out from the protection of Allaah and is entrusted to himself." 10

{10 Al-Ibaanah #444}

HOW TO CONTROL YOUR EVIL DESIRES

1. LOWER YOUR GAZE

- Allah (SWT) gave us this instruction in Surah 24:30-31.

Tell the believing men to lower their gaze (from looking at forbidden things), and protect their private parts (from illegal sexual acts, etc.). That is purer for them. Verily, Allah is All-Aware of what they do.

(An-Nur 24:30)

And tell the believing women to lower their gaze (from looking at forbidden things), and protect their private parts (from illegal sexual acts, etc.) and not to show off their adornment except only that which is apparent (like palms of hands or one eye or both eyes for necessity to see the way, or outer dress like veil, gloves, head-cover, apron, etc.), and to draw their veils all over Juyubihinna (i.e. their bodies, faces, necks and bosoms, etc.) and not to reveal their adornment except to their husbands, their fathers, their husband's fathers, their sons, their husband's sons, their brothers or their brother's sons, or their sister's sons, or their (Muslim) women (i.e. their sisters in Islam), or the (female) slaves whom their right hands possess, or old male servants who lack vigour, or small children who have no sense of the shame of sex. And let them not stamp their feet so as to reveal what they hide of their adornment. And all of you beg Allah to forgive you all, O believers, that you may be successful.

(An-Nur 24:31)

- When you look at what is haraam, you desire what you look at.

- If you keep looking at beautiful women, you will want to commit zina.

- Allah (SWT) mentioned men first because men lust more than women.

2. AVOID HARMFUL READING

- Harmful reading means the writing of harlots who incite zina.

3. AVOID HARMFUL LISTENING

4. AVOID HARMFUL VIEWING

- Girls who watch MTV always suffer teenage pregnancies.

Allah (SWT) said in the Quran surah Luqman verse 6

And of mankind is he who purchases idle talks (i.e.music, singing, etc.) to mislead (men) from the Path of Allah without knowledge, and takes it (the Path of Allah, the Verses of the Qur'an) by way of mockery. For such there will be a humiliating torment (in the Hell-fire).

(Luqman 31:6)

- The above ayah is talking about harmful reading, harmful listening and harmful viewing.

EVIL DESIRES

(PART 2)

APRIL 19 2014 / 19 JUMADA AL THANI 1435 HIJRI

HOW TO CONTROL YOU EVIL DESIRES

1) LOWER GAZE

2) AVOID HARMFUL READING

3) AVOID HARMFUL LISTENING

4) AVOID HARMFUL VIEWING

Allah (SWT) said in the Quran, Surah Luqman verse 6:

And of mankind is he who purchases idle talks (i.e. music, singing, etc.) to mislead (men) from the Path of Allah without knowledge, and takes it (the Path of Allah, the Verses of the Qur'an) by way of mockery. For such there will be a humiliating torment (in the Hell-fire).

(Luqman 31:6)

- This ayah covers points two, three and four.

- Harmful reading, listening and viewing cause you to become curious about the thing.

- If someone views lesbian films, why does she become curious about it?

- Why are they suddenly like this?

- It is because they indulge in harmful viewing

- To stay away from these evil desires, you have to stay away from harmful reading, listneing and viewing.

5) HARMFUL COMPANY

Allah (SWT) said in the Quran, Surah Al Furqan verse 25:

"Ah! Woe to me! Would that I had never taken so-and-so as a friend!

(Al-Furqan 25:25)

- Someone will come to Allah (SWT) on that day and say he wishes he didn't choose so and so as a friend.

Allah (SWT) said in the Quran, Surah Az-Zukhruf verse 67:

Friends on that Day will be foes one to another except Al-Muttaqun (pious - see V.2:2).

(Az-Zukhruf 43:67)

- On the Day of Judgement friends will become foes except the pious.

- They will blame each other for what they introduced each other to, e.g. heroin, drinking etc.

6) SHUN HARAM FOOD AND DRINK

- The other instructions the scholars give to avoid these desires is to shun haram food and drink.

- Alcohol is the mother of all evils.

Abdullah Ibn Umar (RA) narrated the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: "Khamr is the mother of all evils"

[Sunan Daraqutni (5/444) No. 4613]

- Daraqutni means the region of Baghdad where cloth is sold.

- They named this scholar this after this area.

- This is a rare hadith book.

- There are lots of other hadith books.

- Alchohol causes people to do lots of haram.

- It makes you want to commit zina.

It was narrated from Abu Bakr bin 'Abdur-Rahman bin al-Harith that his father said: "I heard 'Uthman (RA) say: 'Avoid Khamr for it is the mother of all evils. There was a man among those who came before you who was a devoted worshipper. An immoral woman fell in love with him. She sent her slave girl to him, saying: We are calling you to bear witness. So he set out with her slave girl, and every time he entered a door, she locked it behind him, until he reached a beautiful woman who has with her a boy and a vessel of wine. She said: 'By Allah, I did not call you to bear witness, rather I called you to have intercourse with me, or to drink a cup of this wine, or to kill this boy.' He said: 'Pour me a cup of this wine.' So she poured him a cup. He said: 'Give me more.' And soon he had intercourse with her and killed the boy. So avoid Khamr, for by Allah faith and addiction to Khamr cannot coexist but, one of them will soon expel the other."

[Sunan al-Nasa'I (8/315) No.5666, al-Sunan al-Kubra al-Bayhaqi (8/500) No. 17339]

7) USE YOUR SPARE TIME EFFECTIVELY

- The shaitan can find a job for those who have  no job

Allah (SWT) said in the Quran, in Surah Al-Asr:

By Al-'Asr (the time). Verily! Man is in loss,

(Al-'Asr 103:1-2)

Except those who believe (in Islamic Monotheism) and do righteous good deeds, and recommend one another to the truth (i.e. order one another to perform all kinds of good deeds (Al-Ma'ruf)which Allah has ordained, and abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds (Al-Munkar) which Allah has forbidden), and recommend one another to patience (for the sufferings, harms, and injuries which one may encounter in Allah's Cause during preaching His religion of Islamic Monotheism or Jihad, etc.).

(Al-'Asr 103:2-3)

- If you are idle the shaitan will find something for you to do.

- People who commit crimes had a lot of time to do their haram and they end up in prison.

On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: Allah said: Sons of Adam inveigh against [the vicissitudes of] Time, and I am Time, in My hand is the night and the day (1). (1) As the Almighty is the Ordained of all things, to inveigh against misfortunes that are part of Time is tantamount to inveighing against Him.

{It was related by al-Bukhari (also by Muslim)}

- When you look in the mirror at age sixty you say, “look what time has done to me”, and you start to abuse time.

This is the sharh for he hadith on Allah (SWT) saying man abuses time.

8) AVOID HARAAM PLACES

- Avoid places like pubs and club.

- Don't go pubing and clubbing.

- You are not allowed to be in a place where alchohol is consumed.

Allah (SWT) said in the Quran, Surah Al-Furqan verse 72:

And those who do not witness falsehood, and if they pass by some evil play or evil talk, they pass by it with dignity.

(Al-Furqan 25:72)

Ibn Qudaamah (rh) said: “If a person is invited to a wedding feast in which evil things will take place, such as wine, musical instruments, etc, and he is able to attend and remove those evils, then he must attend and denounce them, because then he will be fulfilling two duties: accepting the invitation of his Muslim brother and removing evil. But if he is not able to denounce them then he should not attend. If he does not know about the evils until he gets there, he should remove them. If he cannot, then he should go away. Something similar was stated by al-Shaafa’i.”

[Al-Mughni (7/214)]

- The human garbage are the ones who go to pubs and clubs.

Jabir (RA) reported that the Prophet (SAW) said, ‘He who believes in Allah and the Last Day must not send his wife to the public bath And he who believes in Allah and the Last Day, must not go to the public bath without his lower garment. And he who believes in Allah and the Last Day must not sit at the table where wine is passed round.”

[Sunan Tirmidhi (5/113) No. 2801, Musnad Ahmad (3/339) No. 14692, al-Sunan al-Kubra al-
Nasa'i (6/257) No. 6708, Mustadrak al-Haakim (4/320) No. 7779]

- The only reason to go to a pub is if you have to use the bathroom and there is no other option.

- You cannot go there to sit down and talk.

9) ALWAYS DRESS IN ISLAMIC CLOTHING

- Do not be mistaken for a Christian, a Hindu, etc.

- Do not be clean-shaven.

- The Islamic clothing gives you an identity.

Allah (SWT) said in the Quran, Surah Al A'raf Verse 26:

O Children of Adam! We have bestowed raiment upon you to cover yourselves (screen your private parts, etc.) and as an adornment, and the raiment of righteousness, that is better. Such are among the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of Allah, that they may remember (i.e. leave falsehood and follow truth).

(Al-A'raf 7:26)

- The beard is fard.

- Those who say the beard is sunnah are going against the ijma of the scholars.

- The first to shave their beards were the people of Sodom and Gomorrah.

- Hijab with no taqwah is just a piece of cloth.

- You have to behave Islamic also when you wear hijab.

10) ALWAYS INDULGE IN ACTS OF PIETY

(A)    SALAH

Allah (SWT) said in the Quran, Surah Al Ankabut verse 45:

Verily, As-Salat (the prayer) prevents from Al-Fahsha' (i.e. great sins of every kind, unlawful sexual intercourse, etc.) and Al-Munkar (i.e. disbelief, polytheism, and every kind of evil wicked deed, etc.)

(Al-'Ankabut 29:45)

(B)    FASTING

Allah (SWT) said in the Quran, Surah Al Baqarah verse 183:

O you who believe! Observing As-Saum (the fasting) is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may become Al-Muttaqun (the pious - see V.2:2).

(Al-Baqarah 2:183)

- Saum is fasting specific to Ramadan

- Siyam is fasting in general

(C)    DHIKR

Allah (SWT) said in the Quran, Surah Az Zukhruf verse 36:

And whosoever turns away (blinds himself) from the remembrance of the Most Beneficent (Allah) (i.e. this Qur'an and worship of Allah), We appoint for him Shaitan (Satan devil) to be a Qarin (an intimate companion) to him.

(Az-Zukhruf 43:36)

Abu Huraira (RA) reported that Allah's Messenger (SAW) said, “The world, with all that it contains, is accursed except for dhikr (the remembrance of Allah) that which pleases Allah; and the religious scholars and seekers of knowledge.''

[Sunan Tirmidhi (4/561) 2322 and Sunan Ibn Majah (5/231) 4112, (Abu Eesa al-Tirmidhi said: this hadeeth is hasan ghareeb)]

Allah (SWT) said in the Quran, Surah Ra'd verse 28:

Those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah - Islamic Monotheism), and whose hearts find rest in the remembrance of Allah, Verily, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest.

(Ra'd 13:28)

(D)    GO TO ISLAMIC RETREATS

- Go and listen to speeches.

- These retreats give you a spiritual rebirth.

- The tablighi jamaat has a retreat called an Ijtimaa3.

(E)    JIHAD

He (SAW) said, "Shall I not inform you of the head of the matter, its pillar and its peak?" I said, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah." He (SAW) said, "The head of the matter is Islam, its pillar is the prayer and its peak is jihad."

[Sunan Tirmidhi (5/11) No. 2616, Sunan Ibn Majah (5/116) No. 3973, Musnad Ahmad (5/231) No. 22069]

- The hypocrites are pubbing and clubbing; the righteous are on jihad.

- To be with the mujahedeen is a spiritual awakening.

Allah (SWT) said in the Quran, Surah Al-Ahzab verse 12:

And when the hypocrites and those in whose hearts is a disease (of doubts) said: "Allah and His Messenger (Sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) promised us nothing but delusions!"

(Al-Ahzab 33:12)

(F)    JOIN A WEEKLY STUDY CIRCLE

- Learn your deen from a sincere scholar.

- There are three types of scholars: a sincere scholar, a sinful scholar and a wicked scholar.

The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said, “The Scholars are the Inheritors of the Prophets”

(Sunan At-Tirmidhi Vol. 5 p.2685)

- The people ran to the masjid when Abu huraira (RA) said that the legacy of the prophet (Sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) was being distributed at the masjid.

- When they arrived they saw someone giving hadith.

- That is the legacy of the Prophet (Sallallahu alayhi wa sallam).

- They thought they would find silver and gold.

11) TO BE IN THE COMPANY OF THE PIOUS AND RIGHTEOUS

Allah (SWT) said in the Quran, Surah At-Tawbah verse 119:

O you who believe! Be afraid of Allah, and be with those who are true (in words and deeds). (At-Tawbah 9:119)

- Be with the sincere Muslims not the fake ones or the plastic Muslims.

Narrated By Abu Musa: Allah's Apostle said, "The example of a good companion (who sits with you) in comparison with a bad one, is I like that of the musk seller and the blacksmith's bellows (or furnace); from the first you would either buy musk or enjoy its good smell while the bellows would either burn your clothes or your house, or you get a bad nasty smell thereof."

[Sahih Bukhari, Vol 3, Book 34, Hadith #314]

- This is the similitude of good company and bad company.

12) ATTEND A MASJID WHERE THE KHUTBAH BOOSTS YOUR IMAN

- Your iman is like the cell phone battery.

- It needs to be recharged.

- There is no difference between your iman and the cell phone battery.

- You may say the khutbah at your masjid puts you to sleep.

- You may ask where you can find such a masjid.

- You may say you have to drive 2 hours to get to a masjid like that.

- The answer to that is: why don't you establish your own jamaat?

- Abu hanifa (RA) says you need three people to establish jumaah not 40 as imam shafii ruled.

Allah (SWT) said in the Quran, Surah Al Jumu'ah verse 9:

O you who believe (Muslims)! When the call is proclaimed for the Salat (prayer) on the day of Friday (Jumu'ah prayer), come to the remembrance of Allah [Jumu'ah religious talk (Khutbah) and Salat (prayer)] and leave off business (and every other thing), that is better for you if you did but know!

(Al-Jumu'ah 62:9)

Abu Al-Ja'd (meaning Ad-Damri) narrated, and he was a Companion according to the claim of Muhammad bin Amr: the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: 'Whoever neglects the Friday prayer three times (in a row) without an excuse, then Allah sets a seal upon his heart.'"

[Sunan Tirmidhi (2/373) No. 500, Musnad Ahmad (3/424) No. 15537, Sunan Abu Dawud (1/277) No. 1052, Sunan al-Nasa'i (3/88 No. 1369, Sunan Ibn Majah (2/213) No. 1125, Sunan al-Darime (1/444) No. 1571, Muwatta Malik (1/180) No. 468]

13) MARRY A STRONG MUSLIM

- Marry someone who will help you in your deen.

- If you are a weak muslima in deen, marry a no nonsense brother who will boss you around.

- Marry someone who will strengthen you on deen.

- You need someone to help you boost your iman.

Allah (SWT) said in the Quran, Surah Ar-Rum Verse 21:

And among His Signs is this, that He created for you wives from among yourselves, that you may find repose in them, and He has put between you affection and mercy. Verily, in that are indeed signs for a people who reflect.

(Ar-Rum 30:21)

Anas Ibn Malik narrated the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: “When a person gets married he has completed half of his religion, so let him fear Allah with regard to the other half.”

[Al-Bayhaqi narrated in Shu’ab al-Eemaan (7/340) No. 5100]

- Marry a strong Muslim if you know that you are weak, one who will bring you back to your deen.

- If you know you are weak, why do you want to marry someone else who is weak?

- If your car battery is flat, would you ask someone whose battery is also flat to charge your car?

- You must look for someone with a strong battery

14) USE THE SAHABAS AS YOUR ROLE MODELS

- Don’t make Tupac or Arnold Schwarzenegger your role models.

Allah (SWT) said in the Quran, Surah Aali-Imran verse 110:

You [true believers in Islamic Monotheism, and real followers of Prophet Muhammad SAW and his Sunnah (legal ways, etc.)] are the best of peoples ever raised up for mankind; you enjoin Al-Ma'ruf (i.e. Islamic Monotheism and all that Islam has ordained) and forbid Al-Munkar (polytheism, disbelief and all that Islam has forbidden), and you believe in Allah. And had the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) believed, it would have been better for them; among them are some who have faith, but most of them are Al-Fasiqun (disobedient to Allah - and rebellious against Allah's Command).

(Aali Imran 3:110)

- Some of you can list the 11 players of your football team but you cannot name 11 sahabas.

- Can you answer which sahaba the Prophet
(Sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) named as a trustee?

- Do you know the name of the sahaba who the Prophet said would have been a prophet
(Sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) after him?

Narrated By 'Abdullah: The Prophet said, "The best people are those of my generation, and then those who will come after them (the next generation), and then those who will come after them (i.e. the next generation), and then after them, there will come people whose witness will precede their oaths, and whose oaths will precede their witness."

[Sahih Bukhari, Vol 8, Book 76, Hadith #437]

Abu Sa‘eed al-Khudri (RA) narrated the prophet (SAW) said: ‘Do not slander my Companions, for if one of you were to spend an amount of gold equivalent to the size of Mount Uhud, you would not even come halfway up to their level."

[Al-Bukhari (3673) and Muslim (2540)]

- The Shiites are being killed like flies in Pakistan; they curse the mother of the believers.

Ibn Abbas (RA) narrated the Prophet (SAW) said: "Whoever insults my companions, may the curse of Allah, the angels and all of mankind be on them." [al-Mu’jam al-Kabir al-Tabarani (12/142) No. 12709]

15) REMEMBER DEATH ABUNDANTLY

- Remember you will be in the grave.

- You will be alone in the grave.

- You cannot take dunya with you, only your deeds.

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: “The Messenger of Allah () said: ‘Frequently remember the destroyer of pleasures,’ meaning death.”

[Sunan ibn Majah Vol. 1, Book 37, Hadith 4258]

Ibn Buraida reported on the authority of his father that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: I forbade you to visit graves, but you may now visit them;

[Sahih Muslim, Book 4, Chapter 204 Hadith #2131]

Sulayman ibn Buraydah reported from his father that Allah’s Messenger (SAW) said, “I had disallowed you to visit graves. Now, indeed, Muhammad has been permitted to visit the grave of his mother. So, you (too) visit graves, for, that reminds of the Hereafter.”

(Tirmidhi (1056) & Book 10 Hadith 90)

17) REMEMBER THE DAY OF RESURRECTION

Allah (SWT) said in the Quran, Surah Al-Hajj Verses 1 to 2:

O mankind! Fear your Lord and be dutiful to Him! Verily, the earthquake of the Hour (of Judgement) is a terrible thing. The Day you shall see it, every nursing mother will forget her nursling, and every pregnant one will drop her load, and you shall see mankind as in a drunken state, yet they will not be drunken, but severe will be the Torment of Allah.

Al-Hajj 22:1-2)

Allah (SWT) said in the Quran, Surah Al Muzammil Verse 17:

Then how can you avoid the punishment, if you disbelieve, on a Day that will make the children grey-headed (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)?

(Al-Muzzammil 73:17)

SAYINGS OF THE ULEMA ABOUT THE PEOPLE OF HAWAA:

Ibn 'Abbaas (radiyallaahu ‘anhumaa) said: "Do not sit with the people of ahwaa', for verily their gatherings cause sickness in the hearts."

{1Al-Ibaanah #371}

- Some of you have a short fuse.

- Do not sit with the people of hawaa (Desires).

Allah (SWT) said in the Quran, Surah An-Nisa verse 69:

And whoso obeys Allah and the Messenger (Muhammad SAW), then they will be in the company of those on whom Allah has bestowed His Grace, of the Prophets, the Siddiqun (those followers of the Prophets who were first and foremost to believe in them, like Abu Bakr AsSiddiq), the martyrs, and the righteous. And how excellent these companions are!

(An-Nisa 4:69)

- Allah (SWT) told you who to associate with in the above-mentioned ayah.

Ibraaheem an-Nakha'ee said: "Do not sit with the people of ahwaa', for verily their gatherings cause the light of Eemaan to go from the hearts, and strip the beauty from the faces, and cause hatred to be inherited in the hearts of the believers."

{4 Al-Ibaanah #375}

Hishaam said: al-Hasan [al-Basree] and Muhammad bin Seereen used to both say: 'Do not sit with the people of ahwaa' and do not argue with them and do not listen from them."

{Al-Ibaanah of Ibn Battah #395}

Allah (SWT) said in the Quran, Surah Al Anam verse 68:

And when you (Muhammad SAW) see those who engage in a false conversation about Our Verses (of the Qur'an) by mocking at them, stay away from them till they turn to another topic. And if Shaitan (Satan) causes you to forget, then after the remembrance sit not you in the company of those people who are the Zalimun (polytheists and wrongdoers, etc.).

(Al-An'am 6:68)

Sufyaan ath-Thawree [d.161H] said: "Whoever lends his hearing to a person of bid'ah has gone out from the protection of Allah and is entrusted to himself."

{Al-Ibaanah #444}

THE EVIL EFFECTS OF INDULGING IN EVIL DESIRES:

1) IT CAUSES YOU TO LOSE THE NOOR ON YOUR FACE

- The more sinful you are the more evil you look.

Abu Sa’eed Khudri (RA) reported that Allah’s Messenger (SAW) said, ‘Guard yourself against a Believer’s insight, for, he sees with the light of Allah.” He then recited: Surely in that are signs for the sagacious. (15:75)

[Sunan Tirmidhi (Vol. 5, pg. 299 No. 3127]

Anas ibn Malik (RA) said: I entered the company of Uthman ibn Affaan (RA) while I was thinking about the beauty of a woman I saw in the street. Uthman (RA) then said: One of you enter my presence and the remnants of zinaa can be seen in his eyes I then said: Did revelation come down after the departure of the Rasool (SAW)? Uthman said: But this is the deep insight, foresight and intuition of the believer.

[Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah, Madaarij as-Saalikeen (Vol. 2, pg. 455)]

2) IT CAUSES YOU TO LOSE YOUR HONOR AND SELF RESPECT

Allah (SWT) said in the Quran, Surah Al Furqan verse 43 to 44:

Have you (O Muhammad SAW) seen him who has taken as his ilah (god) his own desire? Would you then be a Wakil (a disposer of his affairs or a watcher) over him? Or do you think that most of them hear or understand? They are only like cattle; nay, they are even farther astray from the Path. (i.e. even worst than cattle).

(Al-Furqan 25:43-44)

- A bastard child cannot sit on the throne in UK

- A homosexual cannot be president of the USA

Allah (SWT) said in the Quran, Surah At-Tin verses 4 to 6:

Verily, We created man of the best stature (mould), Then We reduced him to the lowest of the low, Save those who believe (in Islamic Monotheism) and do righteous deeds, then they shall have a reward without end (Paradise).

(At-Tin 95:4-6)

- You are the lowest of the low if you do not work righteous deeds.

3) YOU LOSE YOUR MORAL AUTHORITY

- If a shaikh has a girlfriend he cannot speak about zina in the masjid.

- He has lost his moral authority.

4) YOU BECOME A NEGATIVE INFLUENCE FOR OTHERS

- They will follow your evil desires.

He who starts a good sunnah will be rewarded for it, in addition to receiving rewards equal to the rewards of those who follow him into it. Whereas he who starts a bad sunnah will be burdened with it, in addition to receiving burdens equal to the burdens of those who follow him into it.

(Muslim)

- They have copycat crimes all over.

5) YOU SUFFER POVERTY

- The man who is addicted to crack cocaine and who has girlfriends will suffer poverty.

It was narrated from Thawban that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: "Nothing increases one's life span except righteousness and nothing repels the Divine decree except supplication, and a man may be deprived of provision by a sin that he commits."'

[Sunan Ibn Majah (5/152) No. 4022, Musnad Ahmad (5/277) No. 22440, Mustadrak al-Haakim (1/670) No. 1814, Sahih Ibn Hibban (3/153) No. 872, al-Sunan al-Kubra al-Nasa'I (10/380) No.11775]

- No woman will go to bed for free.

- You have to buy her something.

- There is no such thing as free romance, not in the dunya or the akhira.

- Someone told Shaikh that a man begging outside burger king used to be a millionaire.

- The martyrs get the 72 virgins because they lost their life.

Miqdam ibn Ma’dikarib (RA) reported that Allah’s Messenger (SAW) said, “There are with Allah six blessings for the martyr. [1] He is forgiven with the first drop of blood. [2] He is shown his abode in paradise. [3] He is preserved from the torment of the grave and is safe from the great fear on the Day of Resurrection. [4] A crown of honour ingrained with pearl is placed on his head, which is better than the world and what it contains. [5] He is married to seventy-two maidens (huris) of paradise. [6] His intercession for his seventy relatives is accepted.”

[Sunan Tirmidhi (4/187-188) No. 1663, Musnad Ahmad (4/131) No. 17221, Sunan Ibn Majah (4/82) No. 2799]

6) YOU SUFFER DISEASES

It was narrated that 'Abdullah bin 'Umar said: "The Messenger of Allah (SAW) turned to us and said: 'O Muhajirin, there are five things with which you will be tested, and I seek refuge with Allah lest you live to see them: Immorality never appears among a people to such an extent that they commit it openly, but plagues and diseases that were never known among the predecessors will spread among them. They do not cheat in weights and measures but they will be stricken with famine, severe calamity and the oppression of their rulers. They do not withhold the Zakah of the wealth, but rain will be withheld from the sky, and were it not for the animals, no rain would fall on them. They do not break the covenant with Allah and His Messenger, but Allah will enable their enemies to overpower them and take some of what is in their hands. Unless their leaders rule according to the Book of Allah and seek all good from that which Allah has revealed, Allah will cause them to fight one another.

[Sunan Ibn Majah (Arabic/English), Vol. 5, pg. 222-223, Hadith #4019]

7) IT MAKES YOU SUFFER MENTAL DEPRESSION

- Expect the mental hospitals to be full.

Allah (SWT) said in the Quran, Surah Ta-Ha verses 124 to 126:

"But whosoever turns away from My Reminder (i.e. neither believes in this Qur'an nor acts on its orders, etc.) verily, for him is a life of hardship, and We shall raise him up blind on the Day of Resurrection." He will say:"O my Lord! Why have you raised me up blind, while I had sight (before)." (Allah) will say: "Like this, Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) came unto you, but you disregarded them (i.e. you left them, did not think deeply in them, and you turned away from them), and so this Day, you will be neglected (in the Hell-fire, away from Allah's Mercy)."

(Ta-Ha 20:124-126)

- Prozac is now a household name.

- It causes hatred and war.

- When you seduce a man’s wife he will hate you and kill you.

- When people don't govern with the book of Allah (SWT) they are at each other's throats.

'Abdullah bin 'Umar narrated that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: “Unless their leaders rule according to the Book of Allah and seek all good from that which Allah has revealed, Allah will cause them to fight one another.”

[Sunan Ibn Majah (Arabic/English), Vol. 5, pg. 222-223, Hadith #4019]

- If you steal a man's car, he is going to hate you and kill you.

8) YOU BECOME A SLAVE OF YOUR BASIC INSTINCTS AND CARNAL DESIRES

Allah (SWT) said in the Quran, Surah Al Jathiyah verse 23:

Have you seen him who takes his own lust (vain desires) as his ilah (god), and Allah knowing (him as such), left him astray, and sealed his hearing and his heart, and put a cover on his sight. Who then will guide him after Allah? Will you not then remember?

(Al-Jathiyah 45:23)

Allah (SWT) said in the Quran, Surah Al Furqan verses 43 to 44:

Have you (O Muhammad SAW) seen him who has taken as his ilah (god) his own desire? Would you then be a Wakil (a disposer of his affairs or a watcher) over him? Or do you think that most of them hear or understand? They are only like cattle; nay, they are even farther astray from the Path. (i.e. even worst than cattle).

(Al-Furqan 25:43-44)

9) IT MAKES YOUR RECKONING WITH ALLAH DIFFICULT ON JUDGMENT DAY

Allah (SWT) said in the Quran, Surah Al-Israa verses 13 to 15:

And We have fastened every man's deeds to his neck, and on the Day of Resurrection, We shall bring out for him a book which he will find wide open. (It will be said to him) : "Read your book. You yourself are sufficient as a reckoned against you this Day." Whoever goes right, then he goes right only for the benefit of his own self. And whoever goes astray, then he goes astray to his own loss. No one laden with burdens can bear another's burden. And We never punish until We have sent a Messenger (to give warning).

(Al-Isra 17:13-15)

Allah (SWT) said in the Quran, Surah Al-Inshiqaq verses 6 to 12:

O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, He surely will receive an easy reckoning, And will return to his family in joy! (But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, He will invoke (his) destruction, And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning.

(Al-Inshiqaq 84:6-12)
