DARS ONE

- Al Israa Wal Miraaj is one of the greatest Miracles of the Prophet (SAWS).

- Whenever a Miracle is considered to be great, Allah (SWT) always mentions it in the Holy Quran.

- The Prophet (SAWS) was asleep in the house of his cousin, Umm Hani.

- Jibreel (AS) came to the Prophet (SAWS) and woke him up.

- Jibreel (AS) brought with him an animal called Buraq.

The Messenger of Allah (SAW) described al-Buraq saying: “I was brought the Buraq, a long white beast, slightly bigger than a donkey but smaller than a mule which when trotting (ride), would place its next step as far as its eyesight could see. I mounted it until I reached al-Quds, Jerusalem. There I tied it up to the same ring used by the Prophets.” [Saheeh Muslim and Saheeh al-Bukharee]

- Their mission was to travel from Mecca to Jerusalem

- The reason why the animal is called BURAQ is because it travels as fast as the speed of light

Glorified (and Exalted) be He (Allah) [above all that (evil) they associate with Him] [Tafsir Qurtubi, Vol. 10, Page 204] Who took His slave (Muhammad SAW) for a journey by night from Al-Masjid-al-Haram (at Makkah) to the farthest mosque (in Jerusalem), the neighbourhood whereof We have blessed, in order that We might show him (Muhammad SAW) of Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, lessons, signs, etc.). Verily, He is the All-Hearer, the All-Seer. (Al-Isra 17:1)

- In the above ayah of Surah 17 Verse 1, Allah (SWT) mentioned the wonderful miracle of the Prophets journey from Mecca to Jerusalem and then to the Highest Heaven.

- There are people who claim that this amazing journey took place in the form of a dream

- However, the legitimate scholars of Islam stand their ground on the reality of this journey in person and not as a dream.

Narrated By Ibn 'Abbas: Regarding the Statement of Allah: "And We granted the vision (Ascension to the heavens) which We made you see (as an actual eye witness) was only made as a trial for the people." (17.60) Ibn Abbas added: The sights which Allah's Apostle was shown on the Night Journey when he was taken to Baitul Maqdis (i.e. Jerusalem) were actual sights, (not dreams). And the Cursed Tree (mentioned) in the Quran is the tree of Zaqqum (itself). [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 5, Book 58, Hadith #228]

Imaam Ibn Hajr writes in his commentary of Saheeh al-Bukharee (1/460) that no one should dispute the fact that al-Isra took place while the Prophet was awake. This is what the Qur’aan clearly said about it, and also because the people of Quraysh disbelieved in it.” Had Isra wal-Miraaj been only a dream, the Quraysh would not have found it necessary to reject it, for people can dream anything. However, since the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihe wa-sallam) claimed to have physically visited Jerusalem in a single night, (which in those days generally took almost three months of traveling) they denied and refused to believe his visit to Jerusalem, let alone the issue of visiting the Heavens and meeting with Allah. Even some who claimed to be Muslims rejected this great physical miracle of Isra and Miraaj.

Imaam an-Nawawi (rahimahullah) writes in his commentary of Saheeh Muslim (2/209) that: “The truth cherished by the majority of people in general, and the Salaf (pious predecessors) in particular, the scholars of Fiqh, and scholars of Hadeeth is that the Prophet (sallallahu alaihe wa-sallam) went in the journey of Isra physically i.e. with his body.”

- The people who claim that the journey was in the form of a dream are mistaken and the Mu’tazilites are a group who are on this claim as well.

- The scholars say that if it was a dream it cannot be considered to be a miracle.

- We all dream at some time in our life that we are in a place other than that of our current reality. These dreams are not miracles.

-  The Scholars use that the verse (17:1) describes the Prophet (SAWS) as ‘ABD’, and Allah describes the Prophet (SAWS) as His ‘ABD’.

- In ARABIC, ABD is a person and a person is comprised of both BODY and SOUL. This is the argument of Ibn Taymiyyah and Ibn Katheer.

- To claim that the Prophet (SAWS) went on Al Israa wal Miraaj in a dream does not stand up to scrutiny.

- Because ABD is a person and a person is comprised of both BODY and SOUL.

- The Prophet (SAWS) led all the previous Prophets in SALAH.

- This implies that all the previous Prophets were commanded to make SALAH as part of their mission.

- Also their SALAH was similar to our SALAH.

- If their Salah was not similar to our Salah, why would the Prophet (SAWS) lead them in SALAH in Masjid AL AQSA?

- We also derive from this event that the Prophet (SAWS) was the most noble of all Prophets of ALLAH.

Abu Huraira narrated the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: “I am the most noble of Adam’s descendants on the Day of Resurrection. I am the first whose grave shall be opened. I am the first to offer intercession. I am the first whose intercession shall be accepted.” [Sahih Muslim (4/1782) No. 2278]

- Why would he (SAWS) be the IMAM of all the other Prophets and lead them in SALAH if he (SAWS) was not the most noble of them?

- Wine and milk were both presented to the Prophet. The Prophet chose the milk.

Abu Hurairah said about our beloved Prophet: “On the night Allah’s apostle was taken to the journey (Al-Isra Wal-Miraaj), two cups, one containing wine and the other milk, were presented to him at Jerusalem. He looked at it and took the cup of milk. Gabriel said “Praise be to Allah who guided you to Al-Fitrah (the right path) if you had taken the cup of wine, your nation would have gone astray.” [Sahih Bukhari (Arabic/English) Vol.7 pg.33]

Imaam an-Nawawi (rahimahullah) said that the reply of Jibreel (alaihis-salaam): “You chose al-Fitrah” meant that he (sallallahu alaihe wa-sallam) chose the religion of Islaam, i.e. “You have chosen the emblem of Islaam and Istiqamah (being steadfast on the Straight Path). The milk was a sign because it is easy to drink, good and tasty, while wine is “the mother of all evil” and a cause for cruel acts.”

- The Prophet (SAWS) shunned the wine and drank the milk instead because there is no substitute for milk.

The Holy Prophet said on another occasion when asked about drinking of milk, he said: “There is no substance that is effective as food or drink more than milk”. [Sunan Abi Dawud (English translation) Vol. 3 pg.1055 NO.3721]

- And wine is HARAAM and the mother of all EVIL.

Abdullah Ibn Umar (RA) narrated the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: "Khamr is the mother of all evils" [Sunan Daraqutni (5/444) No. 4613]

- Those who drink the wine in the Dunya, they have no Salah for 40 Days and 40 Nights.

‘Abdullah ibn Umar (RA) reported that Allah’s Messenger (SAW) said, “If anyone drinks wine then his salah over forty days are not approved. If he repents then Allah will relent to him. If he reverts (to it), then Allah will not approve his salah over forty days. If he repents, Allah will relent to him but if he reverts (to it) then Allah will not approve his salah over forty days. If he repents then Allah will relent to him. Again, if he reverts the fourth time, Allah will not approve his salah over forty days and if he repents then Allah will not relent to him and He will give him to drink from the river of Khabal.” Someone asked, “O Abu Abdur Rahman! what is the river of Khabal?’ He said, “The pus of the dwellers of the people of fire.” [Sunan Tirmidhi (4/290) No. 1862, Sunan Nasa'i (8/317) No. 5670, Musnad Ahmad (2/35) No. 4917, al-Mu’jam al-Kabir al-Tabarani (12/390) No. 13441]

- A Muslim woman should not live with a man who drinks. Only women with no self-esteem live with a man who drinks KHAMAR (wine).

- The journey of the Prophet (SAWS), AL ISRAA WAS MIRAAJ, comprised of two sections.

- The first part of the journey is called AL ISRAA and that is the journey from MAKKAH to JERUSALEM.

- The ARABIC word ‘ISRAA’ means JOURNEY BY NIGHT.

- The second part of the journey is called AL MIRAAJ and that is the journey from JERUSALEM to the SEVEN HEAVENS.

- Ibn Katheer mentioned something regarding the journey that is eye catching.

- The common concept in the Ummah is that the Prophet (SAWS) prayed with the previous Prophets in Masjid AL AQSA and then ascended to the 7 heavens.

- However he mentioned that it is actually the other way around and the Prophet (SAWS) actually met the Prophets first in the Heavens and then when he returned to Masjid Al Aqsa, he (SAWS) led the previous Prophets in SALAH.

- Ibn Katheer argues that when the Prophet (SAWS) ascended to the Heavens, he asked Jibreel (AS) to give him knowledge of who the Prophets he was seeing were.

- If the Prophet SAWS met them in the Masjid before his ascent, there would be no need for the Prophet (SAWS) to ask Jibreel (AS) to tell him who the Prophets were.

- Another point to mention here is that the common notion in the Ummah is that the Angel ISRAFEEL will blow into the trumpet 2 times on the DAY OF JUDGEMENT.

- However, Ibn Taymiyyah begged to differ and mentioned that Israfeel (AS) will blow into the trumpet 3 times

- The first blowing is called RAAJIFA.

- The second blowing is called RAADIFA.

- The third blowing is called ZAJRA.

- These are the three blowings by Israfeel (AS) into the trumpet on the Day of Resurrection.

- When the Prophets (SAWS) was taken to the First HEAVEN he saw a man who would sometimes frown and sometimes smile.

- The Prophet (SAWS) asked Jibreel (AS) who that man is.

- Jibreel (AS) said to the Prophet (SAWS) that the man is his father AADAM (AS).

- AADAM (AS) smiles when he sees the soul of a believer and frowns when he sees the soul of a disbeliever (KAAFIR).

The Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) said: "So the gate was opened and we went over the nearest heaven and there we saw a man sitting with some people on his right and some on his left. When he looked towards his right, he laughed and when he looked towards his left he wept. Then he said, 'Welcome! 0 pious Prophet and pious son' I asked Gabriel: 'Who is he?' He replied: 'He is Adam and the people on his right and left are the souls of his offspring. Those on his right are the people of Paradise and those on his left are the people of Hell and when he looks towards his right he laughs and when he looks towards his left he weeps." (Al-Bukhari and Muslim)

- When the Prophet AADAM (AS) met the Prophet (SAWS), he said, “Welcome O Pious Prophet and pious SON”.

- The Prophet (SAWS) was then taken to the second Heaven.

- There he met both Nabi Isa (AS) and Nabi Yahya (AS).

On the second Heaven, the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihe wa-sallam) saw Eesa Ibn Maryam (alaihis-salaam) and Yahya Ibn Zakariyyah (alaihis-salaam) cousins from the maternal side. The Prophet (sallallahu alaihe wa-sallam) further said: “I met Jesus (alaihis-salaam). He was one of moderate height and was red-faced as if he had just come out of a bathroom…”Jibreel (alaihis-salaam) said: “These are Yahya Ibn Zakariyyah and Jesus (alaihis-salaam); pay them your greetings.” The Prophet (sallallahu alaihe wa-sallam) greeted them, both returned the greeting and said: “You are welcome, O pious brother and pious Prophet” and prayed for his well-being. [Saheeh al-Bukharee v: 4, no: 647]

- The Prophet (SAWS) was taken to the third heaven where he saw a man who was extremely handsome.

- The man’s handsomeness stood out like the moon among the stars.

- The Prophet (SAWS) asked Jibreel (AS) who this man was, and Jibreel (AS) replied that the man was Prophet Yusuf (AS).

They ascended to the third Heaven and saw Yusuf (alaihis-salaam), who had been given half of the (world’s) beauty. The Prophet (sallallahu alaihe wa-sallam) greeted him and he returned the greetings and welcomed him and ascended with them to the fourth Heaven. [Saheeh al-Bukharee v: 4, no: 647]

- Then the prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) ascended to the fourth heaven and saw a man who was blessed with dignity, nobility and prestige.

- The Rasool (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) asked Jibreel (AS) who this man was and Jibreel (AS) replied that the man was Prophet Enoch (Idrees) (AS).

The Prophet (sallallahu alaihe wa-sallam) greeted him and he returned the greetings and welcomed him and ascended with them to the fourth Heaven. The gates were opened and Idris (alaihis-salaam) was there. Allah says about him: “We evaluated him to the exalted position.” [Saheeh al-Bukharee v: 4, no: 647]

- It is worthy of mentioning that it was Nabi Idrees (AS) who was the first man to use the QALAM (THE PEN) and the first man to use THE SCALES to weigh and measure things.

- He was endowed with a great amount of intelligence from ALLAH (SWT).

Idris (alaihis-salaam) welcomed the Prophet (sallallahu alaihe wa-sallam) and they greeted each other. Then Idris (alaihis-salaam) ascended with them to the fifth Heaven and there was Haroon (alaihis-salaam), he welcomed them, returned the greetings and prayed for the well being of the Prophet (sallallahu alaihe wa-sallam). [Saheeh al-Bukharee v: 4, no: 647]

- Then the Prophet (SAWS) ascended to the Fifth Heaven and saw the most handsome middle aged man with a long beard.

- He (SAWS) asked Jibreel (AS) who this man was and Jibreel (a.s) replied that the man is Prophet Haroon (AS).

- Then the PRophet SAWS ascended to the Sixth Heaven

- He (SAWS) met with a man who greeted him and cried.

Then the Prophet (sallallahu alaihe wa-sallam) was taken to the sixth Heaven and there he saw Moosa (alaihis-salaam), he (sallallahu alaihe wa-sallam) said: “I met Moses on the night of my Ascension to Heaven. He was a tall person with lank hair as if he belonged to the people of the tribe of Shanu's….” Moosa (alaihis-salaam) welcomed the Messenger (sallallahu alaihe wa-sallam), they greeted each other and Moosa (alaihis-salaam) prayed for the well being of the Prophet (sallallahu alaihe wa-sallam). When they left, Moosa (alaihis-salaam) wept. Someone asked him: “What makes you cry?” Moosa (alaihis-salaam) said: “I weep because after me there has been sent (as Prophet) a young man whose followers will enter Paradise in greater number than my followers.” [Saheeh al-Bukharee v: 4, no: 647]

- The Prophet SAWS asked Jibreel (as.) who this man was and why did he cry after meeting me.

- Jibreel (AS) replied that the man was Nabi Musa (AS) and that he will ask Nabi Musa why he cried.

- Nabi Musa (AS) cried because Bani Israel claimed that Nabi Musa (AS) was the best prophet, but here is a Slave of ALLAH , younger than him and with more followers than he will have.

- It is worthy of mentioning that HALF THE PEOPLE OF JANNAH WILL BE FROM THE UMMAH OF MUHAMMAD (SAWS).

- The Jews amount to about 10 million on Earth today however, only one Imam of the Muslims, Imam Shafiee has more followers than all the Jews combined and multiplied 30 times over only as a start.

- The Indonesians are Shafiee' and they are 300 Million strong today.

Abu Sa’eed al-Khudri (RA), that the Prophet (SAW) said: “Allah will say, ‘O Adam!’ and he will say, ‘Here I am at Your service, and all goodness is in Your hand.’ He will say, ‘Bring forth those who are to be sent to Hell.’ He will say, ‘Who are those who are to be sent to Hell?’ He will say, ‘From every thousand, nine hundred and ninety nine.’ At that point the young will turn grey, every pregnant female will abort, and the people will appear intoxicated although they are not. But the punishment of Allaah is severe.” They said, “O Messenger of Allaah, which of us will be that one?” He said, “Be of good cheer, for there will be one man from among you and one thousand from among Ya’jooj and Ma’jooj.” Then he said, “By the One in Whose hand is my soul, I hope that you will be one quarter of the people of Paradise,” and they said, “Allaahu akbar!” Then he said, “I hope that you will be one third of the people of Paradise,” and they said, “Allaahu akbar!” Then he said, “I hope that you will be half of the people of Paradise,” and they said, “Allaahu akbar!” Then he said, “Among the people you are like a black hair on the hide of a white bull, or like a white hair on the hide of a black bull.” [al-Bukhari (3348) and Muslim (222)]

- The Mission of Muhammad (SAWS) was in its entirety more successful than the Mission of Nabi Musa (AS) to the Jews.

Miqdad ibn Amr said to the Holy Prophet: “ O Messenger of Allah command us with what Allah has ordained because you have our full support wholeheartedly. By Allah we will never say to you what Bani Israel said to Musa (i.e. you and your lord go and fight while we site and relax). But instead we say to you; you and your Lord go and fight and we shall be with you fighting for the cause of Allah. For by the one who has sent you with the truth if you march towards the highest mountains we shall march with you until we all reach it”. [Seerah an-Nabawiyya by Ibn Hisham Vol 1. Pg.614 & Musnad Ahmad Vol.1 pg.390]

- The Sahaba promised the Prophet (SAWS) that they would never speak to him the way the Jews spoke to Nabi Musa (AS) and in fact that they will stand and fight with you Muhammad, shoulder to shoulder, with theirr wealth, sweat and our lives.

- The Jews had told Nabi Musa (AS) to go and fight with His LORD to conquer the Holy Land.

- The above Hadith proves that the Ummah of Muhammad (SAWS) is better and more deserving than the Ummah of Nabi Musa (AS)

You [true believers in Islamic Monotheism, and real followers of Prophet Muhammad SAW and his Sunnah (legal ways, etc.)] are the best of peoples ever raised up for mankind; you enjoin Al-Ma'ruf (i.e. Islamic Monotheism and all that Islam has ordained) and forbid Al-Munkar (polytheism, disbelief and all that Islam has forbidden), and you believe in Allah. And had the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) believed, it would have been better for them; among them are some who have faith, but most of them are Al-Fasiqun (disobedient to Allah - and rebellious against Allah's Command). (Aali Imran 3:110)

- Allah SWT reminded us in the Holy Quran that the Muslims are the best Ummah raised up from Mankind.

- This is based on three reasons: We ENJOIN THE RIGHT, We FORBID THE WRONG and we BELIEVE IN ALLAH.

- As a Muslim you cannot have an inferiority complex, if you do that is a portion of hypocrisy in you.

- We are the only people on Earth who worship ALLAH with TAUHEED.

Imran bin Hussein said Allah Apostle (saw) said: “The best of my followers are those living in my generation (i.e. my contemporaries) and then those who will follow them and then those who will follow them” [Sahih Bukhari (Arabic/English) Vol. 5 pg.2 No.])

"Allah's Apostle said, 'The best of my followers are those living in my generation (i.e. my contemporaries). and then those who will follow the latter" [Bukhari, book 57, No 2]

- Then the Rasool (SAWS) ascended to the seventh heaven and saw a man sitting in a chair with many children around him.

- He asked Jibreel (AS) who the man was and Jibreel (AS) replied that the man was Nabi Ibraheem (AS) and the children were the children who died before reaching puberty.

- When the Prophet (SAWS) mentioned this to the Sahaba (RA) they asked if the children of the Kuffaar were included as well. The Prophet SAWS said YES, even the children of the Kuffaar.

- The Khawaarij are extremely wrong to make Takfeer on the children of the Kuffaar and that is why the Khawaarij are the dogs of Jahannum.

They ascended to the seventh Heaven and found Ibraheem (alaihis-salaam) reclining against Baitul Ma’mur (the much-frequented House), into which seventy thousand angels (who will never visit again) enter every day...” He (sallallahu alaihe wa-sallam) said: “I saw Ibraheem (radiyallahu anhu), whom I resembled more than any of his children did.” [Saheeh al-Bukharee v: 4, no: 647] Ibraheem (alaihis-salaam) welcomed the Prophet (sallallahu alaihe wa-sallam) and they greeted each other and Ibraheem (alaihis-salaam) prayed for the well being of Prophet (sallallahu alaihe wa-sallam).” [Refer to the narrations of Saheeh al-Bukharee v: 5, no: 227 and Saheeh Muslim]

 - If your wife gave birth to a child and the child died, you should not grieve because that child will intercede for you on the Day of Judgement and beg Allah SWT to forgive you and give you a place in Jannah. That child is your investment.

Prophet Muhammad (saw) said: “No child is born except according to his true and upright nature (Islam). It is his parents who make him a Jew or a Christian or a Magian (pagan)” [Sahih Muslim (English translation) Vol. 4 pg.139]

- We might ask, why did the Prophet (SAWS) not see Nabi Nuh (AS) even though he was one of the strongest Prophets?

- Others might ask about Nabi Dawood (AS) and Nabi Sulaiman (AS)

- Shaikh is reminding us that we do not know everything. Only ALLAH IS ALL-KNOWING.

- When the Rasool (SAWS) was in the Heavens, he (SAWS) saw a house called BAIT AL MA'MUR.

- This is the house around which 70,000 angels make Tawaf every day.

- Therefore it is their HAJJ.

By the Mount; (At-Tur 52:1) And by the Book Inscribed. (At-Tur 52:2)
 In parchment unrolled. (At-Tur 52:3)
And by the Bait-ul-Ma'mur (the house over the heavens parable to the Ka'bah at Makkah, continuously visited by the angels); (At-Tur 52:4)

- Bait al Ma'mur is directly above the Kaaba in Makkah.

They ascended to the seventh Heaven and found Ibraheem (alaihis-salaam) reclining against Baitul Ma’mur (the much-frequented House), into which seventy thousand angels (who will never visit again) enter every day...” [Saheeh al-Bukharee v: 4, no: 647]

- The following day a new set of Angels visit Bait Al Ma'mur to make HAJJ. The Angels only make Hajj ONCE.

- The Prophet (SAWS) passed by many Angels and they all smiled at him.

- However one angel refused to smile at the Prophet (SAWS)

- When the Prophet SAWS asked Jibreel (AS) who that angel was and why he refused to smile, Jibreel (as.) replied that the angel was KHAAZIN AN NAAR (THE KEEPER OF THE HELLFIRE) and he has never smiled at anyone before you and will never smile at anyone after you either.

The Prophet saw other things on the night of his ascension. He saw Malik, the angel in charge of the Hellfire. Malik did not smile at the Prophet when he saw him, and the Prophet asked why. In answer to the Prophet's question, Jibril said, "Malik did not smile since the day Allah created him. Had he smiled for anyone, he would have smiled for you." [No takhreej]

- Most Scholars believe that this miraculous journey took place on the 27th of RAJAB.

- The Rasool (SAWS) was able to see good things and bad things on his journey to the Heavens.

- The journey took place 18 months before the HIJRA to MADINA.

- So why did ALLAH (SWT) choose to take the Prophet (SAWS) up to HIMSELF at that particular period in history?

- The answer is that THREE incidents took place in the life of the Prophet (SAWS) that were extremely HEAVY upon him and ALLAH (SWT) wanted to boost his morale.

- The First is that the Prophet’s (SAWS) ROCK AND PILLAR, his wife KHADIJA (RA) died

- She was his soul mate and his support.

- He never married another woman while she was alive.

- The Second was that Abu Talib, his uncle, who was supporting him against the Pagans of Makkah died.

- The Third was his journey to Ta'if to invite the pagans to Islam. They rejected his message and stoned him (SAWS) until blood ran down to his slippers.

- This was called the YEAR OF BITTERNESS due to its heavy setbacks on the Prophet (SAWS).

- When the people of Ta'if made the Prophet (SAWS) bleed, Jibreel (AS) introduced him to the angel of the mountains and gave him (SAWS) the option to have the people of Ta'if destroyed by having mountains collide onto them.

- However Nabi Muhammad (SAWS) refused and instead made a DUA to ALLAH (SWT) to make from their children those who will accept the truth and follow the message.

The reason the Prophet (SAWS) refused was because ALLAH (SWT) sent him (SAWS) as a MERCY TO MANKIND.
And We have sent you (O Muhammad SAW) not but as a mercy for the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). (Al-Anbiya 21:107)

Narrated By 'Aisha: That she asked the Prophet , 'Have you encountered a day harder than the day of the battle) of Uhud?" The Prophet replied, "Your tribes have troubled me a lot, and the worse trouble was the trouble on the day of 'Aqaba when I presented myself to Ibn 'Abd-Yalail bin 'Abd-Kulal and he did not respond to my demand. So I departed, overwhelmed with excessive sorrow, and proceeded on, and could not relax till I found myself at Qarnath-Tha-alib where I lifted my head towards the sky to see a cloud shading me unexpectedly. I looked up and saw Gabriel in it. He called me saying, 'Allah has heard your people's saying to you, and what they have replied back to you, Allah has sent the Angel of the Mountains to you so that you may order him to do whatever you wish to these people.' The Angel of the Mountains called and greeted me, and then said, "O Muhammad! Order what you wish. If you like, I will let Al-Akh-Shabain (i.e. two mountains) fall on them." The Prophet said, "No but I hope that Allah will let them beget children who will worship Allah Alone, and will worship None besides Him." [al-Bukhari (3231) and Muslim (1795)]

Verily! As for those whom the angels take (in death) while they are wronging themselves (as they stayed among the disbelievers even though emigration was obligatory for them), they (angels) say (to them) : "In what (condition) were you?" They reply: "We were weak and oppressed on earth." They (angels) say: "Was not the earth of Allah spacious enough for you to emigrate therein?" Such men will find their abode in Hell - What an evil destination! (An-Nisa 4:97) Except the weak ones among men, women and children who cannot devise a plan, nor are they able to direct their way. (An-Nisa 4:98)

- When the Prophet (SAWS) was in the Heavens, he saw a people who were planting, and surprisingly, they reaped 700 times more than they had planted. He SAWS asked Jibreel (as.) who these people were and Jibreel (as.) replied that these people were the ones who made HIJRA FEE SABEEL-ALLAH.

- The above mentioned ayahs explain the importance of Hijra for the sake of ALLAH (SWT) in ISLAM.

- The Rasool (SAWS) passed by a man whose head was shattered with a big rock. Jibreel (AS) said that this man would sleep when he would have to get up and pray and in another hadith, he would forget the Quran.

- This tells us that missing you prayers and forgetting the Quran are both grievous sins.

- Then the Prophet (SAWS) passed by people eating the bitter fruit from the tree of Zaqqum.

- When the Prophet (SAWS) asked who they were, Jibreel (AS) replied they were the people who refused to pay Zakah.

And those who hoard up gold and silver [Al-Kanz: the money, the Zakat of which has not been paid], and spend it not in the Way of Allah, -announce unto them a painful torment. (At-Tawbah 9:34)

Then the Prophet continued for a little while. He saw a tablespread on which there were pieces of (good) meat which no one approached, and another tablespread on which were pieces of rotten meat which stank, surrounded by people who were eating it. The Prophet asked: "O Jibril, who are these?" He replied: "These are those of your Community who abandon what is lawful and go to what is unlawful." [No takhreej]

- The Rasool (SAWS) also saw men who would eat rotten meat while they would leave off the good meat.

- He inquired who these men were and Jibreel (AS) replied they were men who would leave their wives who were Halal for them and would sleep with women who were Haraam for them.

- The Prophet (SAWS) passed a man who was hit by a log and shattered. When he (SAWS) inquired, Jibreel (AS) replied saying that in the Dunya that man was a highway robber.

"And sit not on every road, threatening, and hindering from the Path of Allah those who believe in Him. and seeking to make it crooked. And remember when you were but few, and He multiplied you. And see what was the end of the Mufsidun (mischief-makers, corrupts, liars). (Al-A'raf 7:86)

- The Followig HADITH is FABRICATED about AL ISRAA WAL MIRAAJ:

Hafiz Shamsuddin Dhahabi narrates: Ali and Fatimah (rad) say, we came to Nabi(saw), we found him crying uncontrollably, they said, oh Nabi of ALLAH (saw) what makes you cry in this manner. He(saw) said oh Ali(rad), I am recalling a moment when I went for me'raj and I ascended the heavens, on that particular night I found six categories of the women of my ummat being subjected to such form of torment that every time I think about that azaab it makes me cry, he (saw) then started to explain, I seen a women hung by her hair suspended in the depth of jahannam, her brains were boiling. Then i seen a women hung by her tongue, and the water of jahannam was being poured down her throat. Then I seen a women hung by the upper portion of her chest. Then i seen a women, her legs were tied to her chest and her hands were tied to her forehead. Then i seen one women, she was disfigured, she had the head of a swine and the body of a donkey, snakes were surrounding her. Then i seen a women in the form of a dog, and the angles were striking her.
Then Fatimah(RAD) stood up cried and embraced her father, and asked, oh Nabi of ALLAH(SAW) what were the crimes of these women that they were subjected to such forms of azaab? The Nabi of ALLAH(SAW) held his daughter and said, With regards to the women who was hung by her hair, she walked outside freely, exposing and revealing her hair to strange men. The one who was hung by her toungue, she used to verbally abuse her husband. That women who was hung by the upper portion of her chest, she was an immoral women an unchaste women smiling with strange men. That women whose legs were tied to her chest and her hands tied to her forehead, this women was very negligent with the aspecty of purity, when it came to the period after her menstural cycle, she had to purify herself so she could pray her salaah. And with regards to that women who was disfigured, she was one who carried tales and she used to lie openly. With regards to that women who was in the form of a dog, she was one who constantly reminded others about her favours and her heart is full of jealousy. [Al-Kabaair]

- The Goofy Sufis took the book AL-KABAAIR by DHAHABI and embellished it with Fabricated Hadith.

- The Sufis take a book by a great scholar and then add fabricated hadith and they put a spin on the book.

- The result is that the unprepared reader thinks that the book was written by the great scholar and therefore most things in it should be correct.

- The Shi'ites do the same thing. They are very evil and treacherous. They wait for the scholars to die and then embellish their works

DARS TWO

- The last time we were here, we explained the things the Prophet (SAWS) saw when he went on Al Isra wal miraaj.

- The Prophet passed by a man who was hit by a big log; this log shattered him.

- The log would hit him again and again.

- The Prophet asked Jibreel who this man was.

- Jibreel replied that this man used to practise highway robbery.

- Robbing pilgrims was rife in the Arabian Peninsula.

- Those who were going for hajj were vulnerable.

Then he came to a plank in the middle of the road which not even a piece of cloth nor less than that could cross except it would be pierced. He said: "What is this, O Jibril?" He replied: "This is what happens to those of your Community who sit in the middle of the road and cut it" [No takhreej]

- Then the Prophet saw a man who was carrying a load which he could not carry, yet he was taking more to carry.

Then he saw a man who had gathered a stack of wood which he could not carry, yet he was adding more wood to it. He said: "What is this, O Jibril?" He replied: "This is a man from your Community who gets people's trusts when he cannot fulfill them, yet he insists on carrying them. [No takhreej]

- He kept making promises he couldn't fulfil yet he was making more promises.

- Then he passed by men whose lips were cut with scissors made from fire.

It was narrated that Anas ibn Maalik (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “On the night on which I was taken on the Night Journey (Isra’), I saw men whose lips were being cut off with scissors of fire. I said: ‘Who are these, O Jibreel?’ He said: ‘These are the khateebs from among your ummah who used to enjoin righteousness on the people and forget themselves, and they used to recite the Book but they did not understand.’” [Narrated by Ahmad, 3/120; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in al-Saheehah (291)]

According to al-Bayhaqi: “On the night on which I was taken on the night Journey, I came to some people whose lips were being cut off with scissors of fire. Every time they were cut off, they were restored. I said: ‘O Jibreel who are these?’ He said: ‘The khateebs of your ummah who said what they did not do, and they recited the Book of Allaah but they did not act upon it.’” [Narrated by al-Bayhaqi in Shu’ab al-Eemaan; classed as hasan by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Jaami’ (128)]

- When you are a scholar we don't respect your knowledge, we respect your stance.

- The Prophet then passed by men whose lips were big like that of camels.

- They were eating fire coal.

- The Prophet asked who these men were.

- Jibreel replied that these men used to rob the orphans.
Then the Prophet went on for a little while. He saw groups of people whose lips resembled the lips of camels. Their mouths were being pried open and they would be stoned. One version says: A rock from Gehenna was placed in their mouths and then it would come out again from their posteriors. (The Prophet said:) "I heard them clamoring to Allah." He asked: "O Jibril, who are these?" He replied: "They are those of your Community who eat up the property of orphans and commit injustice. They are eating nothing but a fire for their bellies, and they shall be roasted in it. [No Takhreej]

Verily, those who unjustly eat up the property of orphans, they eat up only a fire into their bellies, and they will be burnt in the blazing Fire! (An-Nisa 4:10)

- The Prophet said stay away from the seven major sins:

(1)   Shirk
(2)   Magic
(3)   Murder
(4)   Riba
(5)   To rob the orphan
(6)   To slander pious believing Muslim women
(7)   To run away from the battlefield

Narrated Abu-Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him); ‘The Prophet (SAWS) said: “Avoid the seven great destructive sins.” The people enquired; ‘O Allah’s Messenger! What are they?’ The Prophet (SAWS) said: To join others in worship along with Allah, to practise sorcery, to kill the life that Allah has forbidden except for a just cause (according to Islamic law), to eat up usury, to eat up the orphan’s wealth, to show one’s back to the enemy and fleeing from the battlefield at the time of fighting, and to accuse the chaste women, who never even think of anything touching chastity and are good believers.” (Bukhari)

- Then the Prophet passed by a rock.

- A cow came out of the rock.

- It tried to get back inside the rock but it could not.

- He asked Jibril, “What is this?”

- Jibril said this is a person who said something, he wish he could take back but he cannot do so.

Then he saw a small hole with a huge bull coming out of it. The bull began to try entering the hole again and was unable. The Prophet said: "What is this, O Jibril?" He replied: "This is the one in your Community who tells an enormity, then he feels remorse to have spoken it but is unable to take it back."[No takhreej]

On the authority of 'Abdullah bin 'Amr bin Al-'As (RA) that the Prophet (SAW) said: "A Muslim is the one from whose tongue and hands the Muslims are safe; and a Muhajir (Emigrant) is the one who refrains from what Allah has forbidden." [al-Bukhari (10) and Muslim (40)]

- Then he passed by a big oven. The people were being baked in it.

- He asked Jibril who these men were.

- Jibril replied that these are people who did zina.

- Then he passed by men whose stomachs were big like houses.

- They tried to get up but they could not; they kept falling down.

- The Prophet asked Jibril who these men were.

- Jibril said these men ate riba.

Abu Huraira related that the Prophet said: On the night of the Miraj I came upon a group of people whose bellies were like houses. They were full of snakes which could be seen from outside their bellies. I asked Gabriel who they were, and he told me that they were the people who had practiced Riba (Interest). (Ahmad, Ibn Maja)

- Allah spoke about such people in Surah Baqarah verse 275:

Those who eat Riba (usury) will not stand (on the Day of Resurrection) except like the standing of a erson beaten by Shaitan (Satan) leading him to insanity. That is because they say: "Trading is only like Riba (usury)," whereas Allah has permitted trading and forbidden Riba (usury). So whosoever receives an admonition from his Lord and stops eating Riba (usury) shall not be punished for the past; his case is for Allah (to judge); but whoever returns [to Riba (usury)], such are the dwellers of the Fire - they will abide therein. (Al-Baqarah 2:275)

- Ibn Abbas said those who eat riba will be raised up mad.

- Hell was shown to the Rasool and the majority of the people in hell were the rich and women.

- The rich allowed their wealth to take them away from the path of Allah.

- The women were in hell because they were ungrateful to their husbands.

It was narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) that women will form ... the majority of the people of Hell. It was narrated from ‘Imraan ibn Husayn that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “I looked into Paradise and I saw that the majority of its people were the poor. And I looked into Hell and I saw that the majority of its people are women.” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 3241; Muslim, 2737)

- Then he passed by a very beautiful virgin in Paradise sitting down.

- He asked Jibreel who she is.

- Jibreel said this virgin belongs to zaid ibn haritha.

- Then the Rasool was shown a mansion in Paradise.

- He asked Jibreel who it belongs to.

- Jibreel said that mansion belongs to Umar ibn al Khattab.

- Then he heard footsteps in Paradise.

- He asked Jibreel who that was.

- Jibreel replied that it was Bilal.

Al-Bukhaari and Muslim report from Jaabir that the Messenger of Allah said, "I entered Paradise where I saw ar-Rumaysa, the wife of Abu Talhah. And I heard footsteps and asked, "Who is that?" He (Jibreel) said, "That is Bilaal". And I saw a palace with women in its courtyard. I asked, "Whose is this?" They said, It is for 'Umar ibn al-Khattab" [Mishkaat al-Masaabih, 3/226]

- When Bilal was asked why his footsteps were heard in Paradise, he said it was because every time he does wudu he prays 2 rakah.

Abu Huraira reported that Allah’s Messenger (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said to Bilal: “Bilal, tell me which act you did at the time of the morning prayer for which you hope to receive good reward, for I heard during the night the sound of your footsteps before me in Paradise?” Bilal (radi Allahu anhu) replied: “I did not do any act in Islam for which I hope to get any benefit, but this, that when I perform complete ablution during the night or day I observe prayer with that purification, what Allah has ordained for me to pray.” [Sahih Muslim]

- The Prophet told Umar that he saw his mansion in Paradise but he didn't enter it because he remembered Umar's ghaira.

- The word 'ghaira' means honour, self-respect and jealousy.

- Umar told the Prophet that he wouldn't feel bad if the Prophet entered his mansion in jannah.

- The dayouth/bighairat will never enter Paradise.

- To feel ghaira is fard.

- To feel ghaira over your wife is fard.

- The dayouth is cursed.

Abdullah ibn Umar reported that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: "Three people will not enter paradise and Allah will not look to them on the Day of Judgment: the one who is disobedient to his parents, the woman who imitates men and the ad-Dayooth (cuckold, weak man who feels no jealousy over his womenfolk)..." [Musnad Ahmad (2/134) No. 6180, Musnad al-Bazzar (12/270) No. 6051, al-Sunnan al-Kubra al-Nasa'i (2/63) No. 2354, al-Mu’jam al-Awsat al-Tabarani (3/51) No. 2443]

 - The angel took the Rasul to the seventh heaven.

- When they reached sidrat-ul-muntaha, the angel stopped.

- This is the lote tree.

- Its roots are in the sixth heaven but its branches are in the seventh heaven.

- It is not allowed for a person to pass by the lote tree.

- Only Muhammad (SAWS) is allowed to stand by the lote tree.

- So the angel Gabriel stopped.

- The Prophet asked him why he stopped.

- The angel Gabriel replied that he would be destroyed if he was standing where the Prophet was standing (near the lote tree).

And indeed he (Muhammad SAW) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] at a second descent (i.e. another time). (An-Najm 53:13)
Near Sidrat-ul-Muntaha [lote-tree of the utmost boundary (beyond which none can pass)], (An-Najm 53:14)

It is narrated on the authority of Abdullah (b. Umar) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) was taken for the Night journey, he was taken to Sidrat-ul-Muntaha, which is situated on the sixth heaven, where terminates everything that ascends from the earth and is held there, and where terminates everything that descends from above it and is held there. (It is with reference to this that) Allah said:" When that which covers covered the lote-tree" (al-Qur'an, Iiii. 16). He (the narrator) said: (It was) gold moths. He (the narrator further) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) was given three (things): he was given five prayers, the concluding verses of Sura al-Baqara, and remission of serious Sins for those among his Ummah who associate not anything with Allah. [Sahih Muslim, Book 1, Number 329]

THE CONVERSATION BETWEEN ALLAH AND THE PROPHET AT SIDRAT-UL-MUNTAHA

- Allah said to the Prophet that He made him His habeeb, His beloved Prophet.

- He has split his bosom and washed his heart.

- It is a miracle and it is so important, Allah spoke about it in the Qur'an.

Have We not opened your breast for you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him))? (Ash-Sharh 94:1)
And removed from you your burden, (Ash-Sharh 94:2)
Which weighed down your back? (Ash-Sharh 94:3) And raised high your fame? (Ash-Sharh 94:4)

- Burden means diseases of the heart.

- Muhammad (SAWS) had no burden because his heart was washed.

- Allah said to the Prophet that He made the Prophet's ummah the balanced nation and the just nation.

And thus we have made you a just community that you will be witnesses over the people and the Messenger will be a witness over you. And We did not make the qiblah which you used to face except that We might make evident who would follow the Messenger from who would turn back on his heels. [(Al-Baqarah 2:143) (Sahih International)]

- Then Allah said that He has given the Prophet the last verse of Surah Baqarah.

Allah burdens not a person beyond his scope. He gets reward for that (good) which he has earned, and he is punished for that (evil) which he has earned. "Our Lord! Punish us not if we forget or fall into error, our Lord! Lay not on us a burden like that which You did lay on those before us (Jews and Christians); our Lord! Put not on us a burden greater than we have strength to bear. Pardon us and grant us Forgiveness. Have mercy on us. You are our Maula (Patron, Suppor-ter and Protector, etc.) and give us victory over the disbelieving people." (Al-Baqarah 2:286)

- This verse was revealed to the Prophet on Al Isra wal Miraaj.

- The Prophet is the only prophet who had some of his book revealed to him in the seventh heaven.

- This ayah was stored up under the Arsh of Allah.

- Allah revealed it on the night of Al Isra wal Miraaj.

- This ayah (2:286) abrogatesSurah Baqarah verse 284.

To Allah belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is on the earth, and whether you disclose what is in your ownselves or conceal it, Allah will call you to account for it. Then He forgives whom He wills and punishes whom He wills. And Allah is Able to do all things. (Al-Baqarah 2:284)

- In the early days of Islam, Allah will hold you to account for your evil thoughts even if you didn't act on it.

- The sahabas complained to the Prophet and Allah cancelled this with Surah Baqarah verse 286.

The NEW RULING is:
- If you think of doing something GOOD and you DIDN’T DO IT, Allah writes it down as ONE GOOD DEED.
- If you think of doing something BAD and you DIDN'T DO IT, Allah writes it down as ONE GOOD DEED.
- If you think of doing something BAD and you DO IT, Allah writes it down as ONE BAD DEED.
- If you think of doing something GOOD and you DO IT, Allah writes it down as TEN GOOD DEEDS because Allah's mercy prevails over his wrath.

On the authority of Ibn Abbas (RA), from the Messenger of Allah (SAW), among the sayings he related from his Lord (glorified and exalted be He) is that He said: "Allah has written down the good deeds and the bad ones." Then He explained it [by saying that] "he who has intended a good deed and has not done it, Allah writes it down with Himself as a full good deed, but if he has intended it and has done it, Allah writes it down with Himself as from ten good deeds to seven hundred times, or many times over. But if he has intended a bad deed and has not done it, Allah writes it down with Himself as a full good deed, but if he has intended it and has done it, Allah writes it down as one bad deed." [Bukhari and Muslim]

Allah's Apostle was addressed by Allah, "I have decreed My Obligation and have reduced the burden on My slaves, and I shall reward a single good deed as if it were ten good deeds." [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 4, Book 54, Hadith #429]

On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (RA), who said that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: "When Allah decreed the Creation He pledged Himself by writing in His book which is laid down with Him: 'My mercy prevails over my wrath.'" [Muslim (also by al-Bukhari, an-Nasa'i and Ibn Majah)]

- Then Allah said to the Prophet, verily I have given you Al-Kawthar.

- Al-Kawthar is a river in Paradise.

Verily, We have granted you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) Al-Kauthar (a river in Paradise); (Al-Kawthar 108:1) Therefore turn in prayer to your Lord and sacrifice (to Him only). (Al-Kawthar 108:2)
For he who makes you angry (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), - he will be cut off (from every good thing in this world and in the Hereafter). (Al-Kawthar 108:3)

- Don't forget the Prophet was taken to Al Isra wal Miraaj after 3 bad incidents: the death of Khadija, the death of Abu Talib and the stoning in Taif.

- The purpose of Al Isra wal Miraaj was to boost the morale of the Prophet.

- Speaking to the Prophet face to face was to boost the morale of the Prophet.

- Then Allah said to the Prophet, remember I have given you the eight portions.

WHAT ARE THE EIGHT PORTIONS GIVEN TO MUHAMMAD?

(1) – ISLAM
(2) – SALAH
(3) – SADAQA
(4) – FASTING IN RAMADAN
(5) – HIJRA
(6) – JIHAD
(7) – TO ENJOIN THE RIGHT
(8) – TO FORBID THE WRONG

- These are the eight portions given to the Prophet on Al Isra wal Miraaj.

and I have given you eight arrows (i.e. shares in good fortune): Islam, Emigration (hijra), Jihad, Charity (sadaqa), Fasting Ramadan, Ordering Good, and Forbidding Evil; and the day I created the heavens and the earth I made obligatory upon you and upon your Community fifty prayers: therefore establish them, you and your Community." [No takhreej]

There is a sound hadith from Abu Ishaq from Silah ibn Zufar from Hudhayfah, may Allah be pleased with him, that he said, "Islam has eight portions: Islam is a portion, prayer is a portion, zakat is a portion, hajj of the House is a portion, jihad is a portion, fasting Ramadan is a portion, commanding the well-recognised virtues is a portion, and forbidding the repudiated vices is a portion, and whoever has no portion has failed." Al-Bazzar narrated it as a marfu' hadith [attributed by Hudhayfah to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace] but it is more authentic to say that it is mawquf [something Hudhayfah himself said without explicitly attributing it to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace].

- Then Allah said to the Prophet, I have given you six things which I haven't given to any other prophet.

WHAT ARE THE SIX SPECIAL FAVOURS GIVEN TO MUHAMMAD?

Abu Huraira reported that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: I have been given superiority over the other prophets in six respects: I have been given words which are concise but comprehensive in meaning; I have been helped by terror (in the hearts of enemies): spoils have been made lawful to me: the earth has been made for me clean and a place of worship; I have been sent to all mankind and the line of prophets is closed with me. [Sahih Muslim, Book 4, Hadith #1062]

- Then Allah said to Muhammad, I command you and your ummah to pray 50 times a day.

- The Prophet passed by Musa. Musa asked, “what did your Lord command you?”

- The Prophet said to pray 50 times a day. Musa told him to go back and ask his Lord to reduce it.

- The Prophet kept asking Allah to decrease it until Allah decreased it to 5 times a day.

Then fifty prayers were enjoined on me. I descended till I met Moses who asked me, 'What have you done?' I said, 'Fifty prayers have been enjoined on me.' He said, 'I know the people better than you, because I had the hardest experience to bring Bani Israel to obedience. Your followers cannot put up with such obligation. So, return to your Lord and request Him (to reduce the number of prayers.' [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 4, Book 54, Hadith #429]

- Then Allah said, anyone who prays 5 times a day, I will give him the barakah of praying 50 times a day.

Anas bin Malik narrated that fifty prayers, were made obligatory on the Prophet on the night of mi'raj. Then they were reduced till five remained. Then, a voice called, "O Muhammad our word is never changed. For you, indeed, with these five will accrue (reward of) fifty." [Sunan Tirmidhi (1/417) No. 213, Musnad Ahmad (3/161) No. 12662, al-Bukhari (3207) and Muslim (162)]

- The Prophet took back three gifts from Al Isra wal Miraaj.

- The FIRST gift was salah.

- The SECOND was Surah Baqarah verse 286.

- This ayah cancels Surah Baqarah 284.

- The THIRD gift the Prophet took back was the multiplication of good deeds.

- When you do a good deed it is written down as 10 good deeds or 700 good deeds.

- When the Prophet came back, he was sitting by the kaaba.

- Abu Jahl came to him and said, “O Muhammad, what is the latest?”

- The Prophet said to Abu Jahl, I was taken to Jerusalem last night.

- Abu Jahl asked, “Are you willing to say that in front of the people?”

- Abu Jahl thought he had something to prove the Prophet was a liar.

- In those days it took one month to get from Makkah to Jerusalem.

- Abu Jahl gathered the people of Makkah and the Prophet repeated that he was taken to Jerusalem last night.

- The reason why Abu Jahl was happy the Prophet made that claim was because he wanted to brand the Prophet a liar.

- The Prophet didn't say he went to Jerusalem, he said he was taken to Jerusalem.

- He spoke in the passive voice.

- A supernatural power was responsible for taking him to Jerusalem.

- The kuffar went to the gates of Makkah.

- They said, “Abu Bakr, you friend is claiming he was in Jerusalem last night.”

- Abu Bakr asked, “did he say that?” They replied yes.

- Abu Bakr said if he said that, I believe it.

- It was because of this incident that Abu Bakr was called As-Siddiq.

- As-siddiq - the one who doesn't waver in regards to his faith.

- The Prophet has never been to Jerusalem before.

- They wanted to see if he had really been there.

- They asked him to describe Masjid al Aqsa if he was there.

- The Prophet went there by night so he didn't see the masjid properly.

- To avoid the embarrassment, Jibreel brought Masjid al Aqsa in front of Muhammad (SAWS).

- The Prophet described Masjid al Aqsa for them while he was looking at it.

Narrated By Jabir bin 'Abdullah: That he heard Allah's Apostle saying, "When the people of Quraish did not believe me (i.e. the story of my Night Journey), I stood up in Al-Hijr and Allah displayed Jerusalem in front of me, and I began describing it to them while I was looking at it." [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 5, Book 58, Hadith #226]

- The journey of al isra wal miraaj was a fitna for mankind.

And (remember) when We told you: "Verily! Your Lord has encompassed mankind (i.e. they are in His Grip)." And We made not the vision which we showed you (O Muhammad as an actual eye-witness and not as a dream on the night of Al-Isra') but a trial for mankind, and likewise the accursed tree (Zaqqum, mentioned) in the Qur'an. We warn and make them afraid but it only increases them in naught save great disbelief, oppression and disobedience to Allah. (Al-Isra 17:60)

- Some apostated because they couldn't believe it.

- It made the iman of people like Abu Bakr and Umar stronger.

- It was a test to see who is a real Muslim and who is a fake Muslim.

- When the Prophet was going on Al Isra wal Miraaj, he passed a caravan.

- One of their camels got away.

- He called them and gave them their camel.

- The caravaneers later said that Muhammad (SAWS) gave back their camel.

- Abu Jahl was convinced that Muhammad was in Jerusalem because the stories matched.

- Somebody said to him, “Since you are sure he was in Jerusalem, why don't you accept Islam?”

- Abu Jahl said there is a competition between his tribe and the tribe of Muhammad so he can't accept Islam.

- He chose the hellfire in the name of asabiya.

THE 10 MERITS OF MASJID AL AQSA AND BILAD ASH-SHAAM

1 - MASJID AL AQSA IS THE FIRST QIBLA FOR MUSLIMS

2 - IT IS THE PLACE MUHAMMAD (SAWS) PRAYED WITH ALL THE PROPHETS

3 - IT IS THE PLACE WHERE MUHAMMAD (SAWS) WAS TESTED AND HE PASSED THE TEST

- Jibreel put wine and milk in front of the Prophet.

- The Prophet chose the milk.

- Jibreel told him he has chosen the natural path; had he chosen the wine his ummah would have been destroyed.

4 - IT IS THE PLACE FROM WHERE HE WENT TO SPEAK TO ALLAH

- This second leg of the journey is called Al Miraaj.

- This leg is from Jerusalem to the seven heavens.

5 - IT IS A HOLY LAND WHICH CONTAINS THE GRAVES OF MANY PROPHETS AND MANY SAHABAS

- Prophets like Yahya and Zakariyyah are buried there.

6 - THE FOUNDATION STONE OF MASJID AL AQSA WAS LAID BY THE ANGELS

7 - IT IS ONE OF THE THREE HOLY PLACES OF ISLAM AFTER MAKKAH AND MADINAH

8 - THE ANGELS HAVE THEIR WINGS OVER BILAD ASH-SHAAM

On the authority of Zaid Ibn Thabit Al-Ansari that: ‘I heard the Messenger of Allah (saw) say, ‘How blessed is Al-Sham! How blessed is Al-Sham!’ “And how is that, Oh Messenger of Allah?” People asked him. ‘Those angels of Allah have spread their wings over Al-Sham’, he answered.’ ‘The Prophets built Bait Al-Maqdis (Al Quds),’ Ibn Abbas added. ‘And the Prophets lived in it, and there is not an inch in Bait Al-Maqdis where a Prophet has not prayed or an Angel has not stood.’ [Tirmidhi]

9 - IT IS THE PLACE WHERE JESUS SHALL RETURN

10 - IT IS THE THIRD CENTRE OF KHILAFAH FOR THE MUSLIMS

- Muawiyyah established his khilafah in Damascus.

- That is why the people of Syria love Muawiyyah even till today.

11 - IT IS THE PLACE WHERE JESUS WILL KILL THE DAJJAL

- Baab ludd is where Jesus will kill the dajjal.

An-Nawwaas ibn Sam‘aan may Allaah be pleased with him reported that the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said, “…then ‘Eesa, son of Maryam, will descend at the white minaret in the eastern side of Damascus. He will then search for Ad-Dajjaal until he will catch hold of him at the Gate of Ludd, and will kill him.” [Abu Daawood]

12 - IT IS THE PLACE WHERE MANKIND SHALL BE GATHERED ON THE DAY OF JUDGEMENT TO BE JUDGED BY ALLAH

Maymunah Bint Sa'd reports that she asked the Prophet (saw), "O Messenger of Allah, give us a pronouncement about Al-Quds (Jerusalem)". The Prophet (saw) replied, "It is the land where they will be raised (Al-Hashr) and gathered (Al-Mahshar)". (Ahmad, Tabarani)
