Bismillah...

In Arabic we say: [دار الردة] Dar ar-Ridda (the domain of apostasy)
- in the world today we have different domains

i. Darul-Kufr
- Darul-kufr is the land of the original kaafirs; they are not plotting against the Muslims
- for example: Abyssinia was a Christian country, in the time of the prophet (SAW)
- Abyssinia was not plotting to bring harm to the Muslims; verbally or physically

ii. Darul-Harb
- Darul-harb is a kaafir land that harms Muslims
- they plot to bring harm to Muslims either verbally or physically
- they lock up innocent Muslims at home and abroad
- they kill innocent Muslims abroad

iii. Darul-Islam
- Darul-Islam is the land where the Islamic Shariah is fully implemented
- for example, the territory of Iraq and Syria where the Islamic State governs

There is a dar, which you forget about and our topic tonight is about
- this dar is called Dar ar-Ridda

WHAT IS THE DEFINITION OF DAR AR-RIDDA?
- Dar ar-Ridda is a country which is traditionally a Muslim country
- but the ideology of the people is kufr, shirk and zandaqah (heresy)

an example of such a country is Iran
- Iran used to be Sunni
- when it was Sunni it produced great scholars
- but today; it is Dar ar-Ridda
- when they became Shia, they stopped producing scholars

Another example of Dar ar-Ridda is; Pakistan
- a country is Dar ar-Ridda when the majority of the people practice kufr, shirk or zandaqa
- if you should go to Pakistan and do a census,
- the average Pakistani would be a Barelvi

Whenever you are in a society and the majority of the people practice kufr, shirk and zandaqa
- and authentic tauheed (Islamic monotheism) is not taught
- therefore it is rare and scarce
- that society is classified as the domain of apostasy - Dar ar-Ridda

APOSTASY MAY OCCUR WITH THE HEART, TONGUE OR THE LIMBS

i. APOSTASY BY THE HEART

In their hearts is disease, so Allah has increased their disease; and for them is a painful punishment because they [habitually] used to lie. (Al-Baqarah 2:10)

- e.g. if you wake up one morning and you doubt Muhammad (SAW) is a real prophet,
- you have now become an apostate from Islam
- or if you doubt Judgment Day is real, you become an apostate
- your wife becomes haram for you
- and you cannot be buried in the graveyard with the Muslims

ii. APOSTASY BY THE TONGUE

And if you ask them, they will surely say, "We were only conversing and playing." Say, "Is it Allah and His verses and His Messenger that you were mocking?" Make no excuse; you have disbelieved after your belief. If We pardon one faction of you - We will punish another faction because they were criminals. (At-Tawbah 9:65-66)

- you cannot crack jokes about the hijab or the beard or the jilbab
- this makes you an apostate

iii. APOSTASY BY THE LIMBS

And it has already come down to you in the Book that when you hear the verses of Allah [recited], they are denied [by them] and ridiculed; so do not sit with them until they enter into another conversation. Indeed, you would then be like them. Indeed Allah will gather the hypocrites and disbelievers in Hell all together - (An-Nisa 4:140)

- just for you to be at a gathering and people are making mockery of Islam,
- you become one of them

O you who have believed, do not take the Jews and the Christians as allies. They are [in fact] allies of one another. And whoever is an ally to them among you - then indeed, he is [one] of them. Indeed, Allah guides not the wrongdoing people. (Al-Ma’idah 5:51)

This is called an example of apostasy by the limbs
- 5:51 and 4:140 are examples from the Quran of apostasy of the limbs
- Ibn Hazm says no two Muslims dispute about the meaning of this ayah (5:51)
- you have to follow the apparent meaning of this ayah, don't put a spin of the ayah

Ibn Hazm Stated in Al-Muhalla (11/138): "What is correct is that His statement, the Most High, "And if any amongst you takes them as Auliya', then surely he is one of them." (The Quran 5:51), should be understood on the basis of its apparent meaning. The person being referred to is a disbeliever from the generality of disbelievers, and no two Muslims disagree regarding this."

For you to die in Islam, it is a bonus and a barakah
- because some sahabas apostatized from Islam
- and joined the army of Musaylimah al-Kaddhab

Abu Huraira narrated that the Prophet (SAW) said, "On the Day of Resurrection a group of companions will come to me, but will be driven away from the Lake-Fount, and I will say, 'O Lord (those are) my companions!' It will be said, 'You have no knowledge as to what they innovated after you left; they turned apostate as renegades (reverted from Islam)." [Sahih Bukhari (8/120) No. 6585]

Allah and His rasool said you should kill the apostates; in the Islamic State
- you cannot kill apostates in Europe and America
- people go to Europe and America to apostate from Islam
- 4:89 is an example to prove that we kill apostates

They wish you would disbelieve as they disbelieved so you would be alike. So do not take from among them allies until they emigrate for the cause of Allah. But if they turn away, then seize them and kill them wherever you find them and take not from among them any ally or helper. (An-Nisa 4:89)

- this is the ayah used by the scholars to say we kill apostates

On the authority of Ibn Abbas (RA) narrated the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: "If somebody (a Muslim) discards his religion, kill him." [Sahih Bukhari (4/61) No. 3017, Musnad Ahmad (1/322) No. 2968, Sunan al-Nasa'i (7/104) No. 4059, Sunan Ibn Majah (3/574) No. 2535, Sunan Abu Dawud (4/126) No. 4351, Sunan Tirmidhi (4/59) No. 1458]

Narrated By 'Abdullah: Allah's Apostle said, "The blood of a Muslim who confesses that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and that I am the Messenger of Allah, cannot be shed except in three cases: In Qisas for murder, a married person who commits illegal sexual intercourse and the one who reverts from Islam (apostate) and separates from the main body of the Muslims." [al-Bukhari (6878) and Muslim (1676)]

The above is the evidence used to prove that you kill the apostates in hadith
- whether you are a revert or a born Muslim; you have to die as Muslim

Ibn Qudamah (rh) said: "All the scholars of Islam are agreed that the apostate is to be killed." [al-Mughni (9/3)]

It is worthy of mentioning that it is haram to take jizya from apostates
- many of you say: ‘why do ISIS kill Shia?’
- the Shia were given the choice; to come back to Islam or die
- to take jizya from apostates means; you have made up your own Islam

Abu Bakr as-Siddiq fought against apostates, he did not take jizya from them
- either you come back to Islam or die
- there is no third option

Abu Hurairah (RA) reported: When the Messenger of Allah (SAW) passed away, Abu Bakr (RA) was appointed as his successor (caliph). Amongst the Arabs some men apostatised. Abu Bakr (RA) resolved to fight them. 'Umar bin Al-Khattab (RA) said to Abu Bakr: "How can you fight them when the Messenger of Allah (SAW) has declared: 'I have been commanded to fight people till they testify La ilaha illallah (there is no true god except Allah); and if they do it, their blood (life) and property are secured except when justified by law, and it is for Allah to call them to account." Upon this Abu Bakr (RA) said: "By Allah, I would definitely fight him who makes distinction between Salat and the Zakat, because it is an obligation upon the rich to pay Zakat. By Allah I will fight them even to secure the piece of rope which they used to give to the Messenger of Allah (SAW)." 'Umar (RA) said: "I realized that Allah opened the heart of Abu Bakr (RA) for fighting those who refused to pay Zakat, and I fully recognized that Abu Bakr was on the truth." [al-Bukhari (1399, 1400) and Muslim (20)]

As for killing apostates, it is a matter of ijtihaad (an independent judgement)
- it is left up to the ijtihaad of the Qadi (judge)
- it is the same ruling for a zindeeq (heretic); that makes up his own religion
- you do not take jizya from a zindeeq

Jizya is taken from Jews, Christians and Zoroastrians
- a zindeeq is a person who makes up his own Islam
- we do not call it Islam; we call it hislam
- e.g. the Qadiyani
- the Qadiyani and the Shia are zanaadiqa
- a Shia believes the Quran is corrupted

SHIA HUJJAH: The present Quran is in an altered, corrupted and distorted form.. (Fatuhat-e-Shia, p. 129)

- they elevate their imams above Allah

SHIA HUJJAH: Imams are God (Jila-ul-Ayoun, Vol. No. 2, Page No. 85)

- they say: ‘Allah is a liar and He makes mistakes’

SHIA HUJJAH: “Allah often lies and does mistakes” [Usool-al-Kafi, page 328, Yacoob Kulayni, Vol. 1]

- but ‘our imams cannot make mistakes’

SHIA HUJJAH: All the Imams are infallible just like the prophets. The Shia derives their religion from their immaculate (infallible) Imams" (Usool al Kafi, p. 22)

You don't even know what the Shia believe
- yet you have the audacity to criticise Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi; for killing Shia?!

Why are the majority of Muslim countries called; domain of apostasy?
- because they don’t just believe in Allah alone, they believe in false deities other than Allah
- the majority of people don’t believe

And most of them believe not in Allah except while they associate others with Him. (Yusuf 12:106)

- majority of Muslim countries are domains of apostasy
- they have qaboor (shrines) and black magic is rife
- invoking others besides Allah and black magic is kufr akbar
- sheikhs in these countries, do not teach you negations of faith
- Abu Hanifa (rh) said learning tawheed is fiqh al-akbar

- an apostate is worse than a kaafir according to ibn Taymiyyah (rh)
- he engaged with people who believed in pantheism
- pantheism = Allah is everywhere and everything is Allah
- there is no difference between creation and Creator

Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah said - refuting the pantheistic belief of the Baatinis: “It is well known that the kaafir Tatars are better than these (Baatinis), because the latter are apostates from Islam, of the worst type of apostates. The apostate is worse than one who is a kaafir in the first place in many aspects.” [Majmoo’ al-Fataawa, (2/193)]

- Ibn Taymiyyah said that the bataniyah are worse than the Tatars

- not every Muslim who does kufr is a kaafir and a apostate
- maybe he did kufr under duress
- he might have an impediment of takfeer
- the pagans of Quraish did it to Ammar bin Yaasir (RA)
- the proof of excuse is 16:106

…except for one who is forced [to renounce his religion] while his heart is secure in faith… (An-Nahl 16:106)

- this ayah was revealed in situation of Ammar bin Yasir (RA)
- they had already killed his mother and father and were going to kill him
- he renounced Islam and they left him alone
- he is not a kaafir because he apostatized with his tongue; for them not to kill him
- so not every Muslim who does kufr is a kaafir, maybe he was under duress
- you cannot say kufr pretending you will get killed without any threat

al-Qurtubi (rh) said: “And it was said that if believer resides between disbelievers, if he has a fear about his life, he can manage them by his tongue, while his soul would be full with belief. And taqqiyah is not permitted except if there is fear of being killed, or fear that a limb could be cut, or (any other) great punishment. And if someone is forced to make kufr, the authentic view that he can persist and refuse to say words of kufr.” [Tafseer al-Qurtubi (4/57)]

- you cannot make takfeer on someone with a slip of the tongue
- the hadith of man in desert.

In another version of Muslim, he said:“Verily, Allah is more pleased with the repentance of His slave than a person who has his camel in a waterless desert carrying his provision of food and drink and it is lost. He, having lost all hopes (to get that back), lies down in shade and is disappointed about his camel; when all of a sudden he finds that camel standing before him. He takes hold of its reins and then out of boundless joy blurts out: 'O Allah, You are my slave and I am Your Rubb'. He commits this mistake out of extreme joy.” [Sahih Muslim (4/2104) No. 2747]

- we have to learn this, so we don’t become khawarij making takfeer on innocent Muslims
- maybe the person was taught tawheed by wicked scholars
- a person who was in a village and taught by fake scholars; ‘that Allah is everywhere’
- you cannot make takfeer unless you establish the hujjah on an ignorant Muslim

Muslims are ignorant of key issues of deen.
- al-wala wal-bara, kufr bit taghoot, tawheed hakamiyyah, fiqhul-waqiah, jihad
- tahakkum = to take your disputes to the taghoot for judgement, this is an act of apostasy

While 'Allama al-Shinqiti-May Allah be merciful with him-has said: To commit shirk with Allah in judging is of the same meaning as to commit shirk in His worship, there is no difference between the two in any manner. There is no difference in any sense between he who follows a system (nizam) other than Allah's system or law other than Allah's law (sharia) and he who worships an idol or prostrates to a false god. They are the same and both are polytheists [associating others] with Allah. [Adwa' al-Bayan, (7/162)]

- a Muslim in a village in Pakistan doesn’t know that Tahirul-Qadri is a kaafir
- ignorance is another impediment of takfeer

- a Muslim living in the US; there isn’t proper sheikhs in the US
- maybe the only one is Ahmad Musa Jibril (ha), he’s trying to teach tauheed
- if you open your mouth and try to teach the tauheed of Ibn Taymiyyah
- they will lock you up for at least 100 years, like they did to Ali Tamimi (ha)
- all Ali Tamimi did was to preach tauheed
- it is impossible to find a sheikh in America

The current state of affairs in America is ignorance, ignorance is prevalence
- a Muslim in the US, who goes to the ballot box to vote for Barrack Obama
- you cannot make takfir on him
- because an American Muslim is so jahil, he doesn’t know democracy is the greatest shirk
- if a Muslim in Pakistan, Bangladesh and Turkey don’t know democracy is the greatest shirk
- how will a Muslim in America know that?
- because democracy being shirk akbar was not known to him
- only after establishing the hujjah can you make takfeer if they refuse

The wicked scholars like Tariq Ramadan taught people that democracy and Islam are compatible
- rejecting democracy and its believers is part of the kalimah
- the average Muslim living in darul-harb/kufr is jahil

We believe in categorisation of knowledge and excuse of ignorance when kufr and shirk is not clear
- we do not make takfeer for someone who votes for JEI (in Pakistan)
- because the person thinks its an Islamic Jama’ah
- same thing in Egypt

You cannot make takfeer on Muslims living in this domain of apostasy because the people are jahil
- you cannot make takfeer unless you establish the hujjah
- this ruling is for democracy, but not for bowing to qaboor (graves) and insulting Allah or sahabas or thinking Quran is corrupted
- because these things are known in Islam by necessity
- to make takfeer on the sahabas makes you a kaafir
- this excuse of ignorance is only for those partaking in democracy
- those who make takfeer on sahaba, we cut off his head

Imaam Ibn Hazm quoted a report with an isnad going back to Hishaam ibn ‘Ammaar, who said: "I heard Maalik ibn Anas say: ‘Whoever curses Abu Bakr should be whipped, and whoever curses ‘Aa’ishah should be killed.’ He was asked, ‘Why do you say that concerning (the one who curses) ‘Aa’ishah?’ He said, ‘Because Allaah says concerning ‘Aa’ishah, may Allah be pleased with her (interpretation of the meaning): "Allaah forbids you from it [slander] and warns you not to repeat the like of it forever, if you are believers." [al-Noor 24:17]’" Maalik said: "Whoever accuses her goes against the Qur’aan, and whoever goes against the Qur’aan should be killed." Ibn Hazm said: "This comment of Maalik’s is correct, and it is complete apostasy to reject Allaah’s words that clearly state her innocence." [al-Muhalla (12/440)]

Imam al-Nawawi (rh), said: "'Aishah's innocence of that of which she was accused is stated definitively in the Qur'an. If anyone doubts that, he becomes a kaafir and an apostate, by the consensus of the Muslims." [Sharh Sahih Muslim (17/117)]

- ibn Qudamah said: if a person apostates, you give him 3 days to come back to Islam

Ibn Qudaamah said: “The apostate should not be put to death until he has been asked to repent three times. This is the view of the majority of scholars, including ‘Umar, ‘Ali, ‘Ata’, al-Nakhaii, Maalik, al-Thawri, al-Awzaa’i, Ishaaq and others. Because apostasy comes about because of doubt, and cannot be dispelled in an instant. Time should be allowed for the person to rethink the matter, and the best length of time is three days.” [al-Mughni (9/8) No. 7086]

- ibn Qudamah al-Maqdisi (rh) was a scholar in time of Salah ud-Deen al-Ayyubi
- and a scholar of ahlus sunnah wal-jammah

Some apostates are killed even if they make taubah
- just because a man makes taubah does not mean we have to spare him
- that is between them and Allah.

Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah (rh) said: “Apostasy is of two types: ordinary apostasy and extreme apostasy, for which execution is prescribed. In both cases there is evidence that it is essential to execute the apostate, but the evidence indicating that the sentence of death may be waived if the person repents does not apply to both types of apostasy. Rather the evidence indicates that that is allowed only in the first case – i.e., ordinary apostasy – as will be clear to anyone who studies the evidence that speaks about accepting the repentance of the apostate. In the second type – i.e., extreme apostasy – the obligation to put the apostate to death still stands, and there is no text or scholarly consensus to indicate that the death sentence may be waived. The two cases are quite different and there is no comparison between them. It does not say in the Qur’aan or Sunnah, or according to scholarly consensus, that everyone who apostatizes in word or deed may be spared the death sentence if he repents after he is a captured and tried. Rather the Qur’aan and Sunnah, and scholarly consensus, differentiate between the different kinds of apostates.” [al-Saarim al-Maslool, (pg. 366-367)]

- ibn taymiyyah said there are 2 types of apostates
- we kill them to make an example of them
- the ordinary apostate isn’t out there to attack Islam and Muslims with his tongue, pen, media, actions etc.
- in both cases the person is executed
- apostasy is in their word or deed

What do we do to the extreme apostate?
- he should be crucified (see 5:33)

Indeed, the penalty for those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger and strive upon earth [to cause] corruption is none but that they be killed or crucified or that their hands and feet be cut off from opposite sides or that they be exiled from the land. That is for them a disgrace in this world; and for them in the Hereafter is a great punishment, (Al-Ma’idah 5:33)

- the extreme apostate is crucified
- the ordinary apostate, you give them 3 days to come back to Islam.

On youtube, we see Islamic State videos where they execute apostates
- these people were working for taghout and they are punished accordingly
- many of you see these videos and say: “this is barbaric”
- who told you its barbaric to crucify these people?
- the problem is you, you are either jahil about your deen or weak in eman

Another extreme apostate is Mansoor al-Hallaj; who said ‘ana al-haqq’
- this person was so evil, they didn’t even ask him to make taubah
- the governor executed him on the spot

Al-Qaadi ‘Iyaad said: "The Maaliki fuqaha’ of Baghdad at the time of al-Muqtadir were unanimously agreed that al-Hallaaj should be killed and crucified because of his claim to divinity and his belief in incarnation, and his saying “I am al-Haqq [God],” even though he outwardly appeared to adhere to sharee’ah, and they did not accept his repentance." [al-Shifa bi Ta’reef Huqooq al-Mustafa, (2/632)]

- wahdatul wajood = union = everything is Allah
- Allah is mixed with His creation

- even though he didn’t wage war against Islam and Muslims
- he was executed because he was an extreme zindeeq.

Waging war on Allah and His messenger is of 2 types according to ibn Taymiyyah
- physical and verbal, verbal is far worse and dangerous

Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah (rh) said: "Muhaarabah (waging war against Islam) is of two types: physical and verbal. Waging war verbally against Islam may be worse than waging war physically – as stated above – hence the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to kill those who waged war against Islam verbally, whilst letting off some of those who waged war against Islam physically. This ruling is to be applied more strictly after the death of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). Mischief may be caused by physical action or by words, but the damage caused by words is many times greater than that caused by physical action; and the goodness achieved by words in reforming may be many times greater than that achieved by physical action. It is proven that waging war against Allaah and His Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) verbally is worse and the efforts on earth to undermine religion by verbal means is more effective." [al-Saarim al-Maslool, (pg. 385)]

- that is why those who waged war on Islam with words and media
- were dealt with differently even on conquest of Makkah
- a word can carry a million times over, in the event its in the form of a book
- like the book by Salman Rushdie

Someone who became a superstar by speaking ill of Islam and Muslim in mass media
- is more dangerous type of kaafir than a soldier
- another country that used to be in the domain of apostasy were Iraq and Shaam
- now, alhamdulilah, they are governed by Shariah and Khilafah
- they had previously adopted Arab Ba’athism and Arab nationalism

Michel Aflaq was the founder of the Ba’athism
- born 1910 and he died 1989, founder of Arab socialism
- his aim and objective was to replace Islam with Arab socialism/ba’athism
- he was a Christian Arab, the ideology of the people was ba’athist.
- but when the US invaded Iraq and all the sectarian violence took place
- in which Sunnis were targeted, the Muslims woke up and came back to Islam
- many Muslims came back because of all the mujahideen came from all over the world
- to wake the local people up

The US invasion was a gift to the Muslims in Iraq
- a domain of apostasy can be transformed into domain of Islam by hijrah, jihad and Shariah
- there is already a movement in Pakistan
- Bangladesh and Egypt need the movement that believe in jihad, hijrah and shariah
- only with hijrah, jihad and shariah; can a domain of apostasy transform into a domain of Islam
- and this is what took place in Syria and Iraq

Taariq bin Shihab reports that when Umar (RA) was travelling to Shaam, Abu Ubaydah bin Jarraah (RA) was accompanying him. "O, Abu Ubaydah! Had anyone other than you made such a statement, I would have made him a lesson for the Ummah of Muhammad (SAW). We were once amongst the lowest of people, but Allaah gave us honour because of Islaam. As soon as we start to seek honour in avenues other than that in which Allaah has granted us honour, Allaah will then humiliate us." [Mustadrak al-Hakim (1/130) No. 207]

- izzah belongs to Allah, the prophet and the Muslims, but the hypocrites realise it not

…And to Allah belongs [all] honor, and to His Messenger, and to the believers, but the hypocrites do not know. (Al-Munafiqun 63:8)

- Saddam was found in a rat hole, Gaddafi was killed and also found in a rat hole
- and soon Bashar al-Assad will follow
- they will be disgraced because they tried to find izzah in other than Islam
