So set you (O Muhammad SAW) your face towards the religion of pure Islamic Monotheism Hanifa (worship none but Allah Alone) Allah's Fitrah (i.e. Allah's Islamic Monotheism), with which He has created mankind. No change let there be in Khalqillah (i.e. the Religion of Allah Islamic Monotheism), that is the straight religion, but most of men know not. [Tafsir AtTabari, Vol 21, Page 41] (Ar-Rum 30:30)

Allah (SWT) is saying in the ayah that HE has created us all to worship Him alone
- without ascribing partners
- so it is your natural instinct to worship Allah alone
- and this coincides with the hadith:

Abu Huraira (RA) reported that Allah’s Messenger said, “Every child is born on the religion (of Islam). Then his parents make him a Jew, a Christian or a polytheist.” Someone said, “O Messenger of Allah, (what about) those who die before (their parents convert them)?” He said, “Allah knows best what they would have done (if they had survived).” [al-Bukhari (6599) and Muslim (2658)]

- therefore it is against the fitrah to commit shirk

And (remember) when your Lord brought forth from the Children of Adam, from their loins, their seed (or from Adam's loin his offspring) and made them testify as to themselves (saying) : "Am I not your Lord?" They said: "Yes! We testify," lest you should say on the Day of Resurrection: "Verily, we have been unaware of this." (Al-A'raf 7:172)

- Allah told you that He took you from the loins of Adam (AS) and asked you:
- ‘Am I not your Lord?’
- this took away the excuse of ignorance in worshipping false deities
- He said most people are not knowledgeable about tawheed

And most of mankind will not believe even if you desire it eagerly. (Yusuf 12:103)

- and He also said that the majority of people will not be believers
- they will live and die as kuffaar in the above ayah
- HE also said that the majority of those who claim to believe are going ascribe partners on to Him

And most of them believe not in Allah except that they attribute partners unto Him [i.e. they are Mushrikun -polytheists - see Verse 6: 121]. (Yusuf 12:106)

- these are people like the soofies, berailvies, shias etc.

- Allah told you not to follow the crowd
- always avoid the majority, as the majority will be corrupted
- the masses are asses

And if you obey most of those on earth, they will mislead you far away from Allah's Path. They follow nothing but conjectures, and they do nothing but lie. (Al-An'am 6:116)

مُنِيبِينَ إِلَيْهِ وَاتَّقُوهُ وَأَقِيمُوا الصَّلَاةَ وَلَا تَكُونُوا مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ
(Always) Turning in repentance to Him (only), and be afraid and dutiful to Him; and perform AsSalat (IqamatasSalat) and be not of AlMushrikun (the disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, polytheists, idolaters, etc.). (Ar-Rum 30:31)

Anas (RA) reported that the Prophet (SAW) said, “Every son of Adam commits sin but the best of those who sin are those who repent.” [Sunan Tirmidhi (4/659) No. 2499, Sunan Ibn Majah (5/320) No. 4250, Sunan al-Darime (2/392) No. 2727, Musnad Ahmad (3/198) No. 13072]

- Allah also said in 2:222 that He loves the ones who repent

…Truly, Allah loves those who turn unto Him in repentance and loves those who purify themselves (by taking a bath and cleaning and washing thoroughly their private parts, bodies, for their prayers, etc.). (Al-Baqarah 2:222)

- Allah (SWT) also loves those who are hygienic

On the authority of Abu Malik al-Asharee (RA) who said: The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, "Cleanliness is half of iman (faith)..." [Sahih Muslim (1/203) No. 223]

- people with bad breath drive away the angels and offend the people
- the kuffaar don't have bathroom etiquettes!

So Allah loves it when you make sincere taubah

And of no effect is the repentance of those who continue to do evil deeds until death faces one of them and he says: "Now I repent;" nor of those who die while they are disbelievers. For them We have prepared a painful torment. (An-Nisa 4:18)

Abu Huraira (RA) narrated the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: "When a slave commits a sin, a black spot appears on his heart. But if he gives it up, seeks forgiveness and repents, his heart will be cleansed, but if he repeats it, (the blackness) will increase until it overwhelms his heart. This is the raan which Allah mentions: ‘Nay! But on their hearts is the Raan (covering of sins and evil deeds) which they used to earn’ [Al-Mutaffifeen 83:14] [Sunan at-Tirmidhi (5/434) No. 3334, Musnad Ahmad (2/297) No. 7939, Sunan Ibn Majah (5/316) No. 4244]

- Your taubah is fake if you don't stop the act

On the authority of Abdullah Ibn Masood the Prophet (SAW) said: “Regret is repentance.” [Musnad Ahmad (1/376) No. 3568 and Sunan Ibn Majah (5/322) No. 4252]

- Salman Rushdie said he made taubah, but he is still selling the book
- his taubah is fake

- if they don’t forgive you Allah will never forgive you

Abu Huraira (RA) narrated the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: “Whoever has wronged his brother with regard to his honour or something, let him ask him for forgiveness before the time when there will be neither dinar nor dirham, and if he has any good deeds it will be taken from him in proportion to the wrong he did, and if he does not have any good deeds (hasanaat), some of the other person's evil deeds (sayi’aat) will be taken and given to him to bear.” [Sahih Bukhari (3/129) No. 2449]

Abu Hurairah (RA) reported: Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, "Do you know who is the bankrupt?" They said: "The bankrupt among us is one who has neither money with him nor any property." He said, "The real bankrupt of my Ummah would be he who would come on the Day of Resurrection with Salat, Saum and Sadaqah (charity), (but he will find himself bankrupt on that day as he will have exhausted the good deeds) because he reviled others, brought calumny against others, unlawfully devoured the wealth of others, shed the blood of others and beat others; so his good deeds would be credited to the account of those (who suffered at his hand). If his good deeds fall short to clear the account, their sins would be entered in his account and he would be thrown in the (Hell) Fire." [Sahih Muslim (4/1997) No. 2581]

O you who believe! Turn to Allah with sincere repentance! It may be that your Lord will remit from you your sins,... (At-Tahrim 66:8)

Abu 'Ubaidah bin 'Abdullah narrated from his father: the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: "The one who repents from a sin is like one who did not sin." [Sunan Ibn Majah (5/320) No. 4250, al-Mu'jam al-Kabir al-Tabarani (10/150) No. 10281, Abu Naeem in'Hilyatul Awliya' (4/210), al-Sunan al-Kubra al-Bayhaqi (10/259) No. 20561]

On the authority of Abu Bakr al-Siddeeq (RA) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (SAW) say: “There is no one who commits a sin then purifies himself well and stands and prays two rak’ahs, then asks Allah for forgiveness, but Allah will forgive him. Then he recited this verse: ‘And those who, when they have committed Fahishah (illegal sexual intercourse) or wronged themselves with evil, remember Allah and ask forgiveness for their sins; (and none can forgive sins but Allah) and do not persist in what (wrong) they have done, while they know’ [Aal ‘Imraan 3:135].” [Sunan Abu Dawud (2/86) No. 1521]

- it is best if you cry and also make dua that you don't do it again
- the best time to make dua is at the last part of the night

On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (RA), who said that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: "Our Lord (glorified and exalted be He) descends each night to the earth's sky when there remains the final third of the night, and He says: 'Who is saying a prayer to Me that I may answer it? Who is asking something of Me that I may give it him? Who is asking forgiveness of Me that I may forgive him?'" [al-Bukhari (7494) also by Muslim (758), Malik (619), at-Tirmidhi (3498) and Abu Dawud (1315)]

Ibn Umar reported that the Prophet (SAW) said, “Indeed, Allah accepts repentance of His slave as long as he does not gasp for last breaths.” [Musnad Ahmad (2/132) No. 6160, Sunan Tirmidhi (5/547) No. 3537, Sunan Ibn Majah (5/322) No. 4253, Musnad Abu Ya'la (10/81) No. 5717, Sahih Ibn Hibban (2/394) No. 628, Shu'ab al-Eman al-Bayhaqi (9/281) No. 6661]

- You need make taubah before the sun rises from the west and before the dajjal appears

Abu Musa narrated the Prophet (SAW) said: “Allah spreads out His hand at night to accept the repentance of those who committed sins during the day, and He spreads out His hand during the day to accept the repentance of those who committed sins during the night. (He will continue to do this) until the sun rises from the West.” [Sahih Muslim (4/2113) No. 2759]

مِنَ الَّذِينَ فَرَّقُوا دِينَهُمْ وَكَانُوا شِيَعًا كُلُّ حِزْبٍ بِمَا لَدَيْهِمْ فَرِحُونَ
Of those who split up their religion (i.e. who left the true Islamic Monotheism), and became sects, [i.e. they invented new things in the religion (Bid'ah), and followed their vain desires], each sect rejoicing in that which is with it. (Ar-Rum 30:32)

- Some people are sincere, but are sincerely wrong because they belong to the wrong group
- rasul (SAW) said this ummah will split into 73 sects

Abu Hurayrah narrated the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: “The Jews were divided into seventy-one or seventy-two sects, and the Christians were divided into seventy-one or seventy-two sects, and my Ummah will be divided into seventy-three sects.” [Sunan Abu Dawud (4/197) No. 4596, Sunan Tirmidhi (5/25) No. 2640, Sunan Ibn Majah (5/128) No. 3991, Musnad Ahmad (2/332) No. 8377]

Verily, those who divide their religion and break up into sects (all kinds of religious sects), you (O Muhammad SAW) have no concern in them in the least. Their affair is only with Allah, Who then will tell them what they used to do. (Al-An'am 6:159)

- Allah (SWT) said that you should have nothing to do with those who break their religion into groups and splinter groups

- the first sect in the ummah was the Khawaarij
- then the Shia, then Murjia, then Mu'tazilite
- then came the Asha'ira, these broke away from the Mu'tazilites

Abdullah ibn Amr (RA) reported that Allah’s Messeenger (SAW) said, “The same things will be faced by my ummah as the Banu Isra’il faced as a shoe compares with (its pairing) shoe, to the extent that if there was anyone of them to have approached his mother (for sexual intercourse) then there will be in my ummah who would do that. And the Banu Isra’il divided into seventy-two sects and my ummah will divide into seventy-three sects, all of whom will go into the Fire except one millat (sect). “The sahabah (RA) asked (him), “Who are they, O Messenger of Allah (SAW)”. He said, “(Who follow) what I am on and my companions (are on).” [Sunan Tirmidhi (5/26) No. 2641, Mustadrak al-Haakim (1/218) No. 444]

- when the rasul (SAW) said that all of them will be in the hellfire except one sect,
- it means that if their bid'ah was minor, then they will be in the hellfire for some time and then will come out of hell
- but if their bid'ah is major kufr then they will be hell forever
e.g. to believe that Mirza Ghulam Ahmad is a prophet after Muhammad (SAW)
- is a major kufr and so will be in hell forever
- to pray to the grave or make tawwaf at the grave is also major kufr

But they (men) have broken their religion among them into sects, each group rejoicing in its belief. (Al-Mu'minun 23:53)

- these people have invented new things in their religion
- and these new things are called bid'ah, but the rasul (SAW) said:

On the authority of Aisha (RA): The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: "He who innovates something in this matter of ours that is not of it will have it rejected." [al-Bukhari (2697) and Muslim (1718)]

Jareer ibn 'Abdullah al-Bajali (RA) said: "The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: 'Whoever starts a good thing and is followed by others, will have his own reward and a reward equal to that of those who follow him, without it detracting from their reward in any way. Whoever starts a bad thing and is followed by others, will bear the burden of his own sin and a burden equal to that of those who follow him, without it detracting from their burden in any way.'" [Sunan Tirmidhi (5/43) No. 2675, Sunan Ibn Majah (1/140) No. 203, Sahih Muslim (4/2059) No. 1017, Musnad Ahmad (4/357) No. 19179, Sunan An-Nasa'i (5/75) No. 2554]

Aisha narrated the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: "Those who give respect to a bid'ati (innovator in Religion) surely will be counted as a helper of destroying Islam." [al-Tabarani in 'al-Mu’jam al-Awsat' (7/35) No. 6772 and al-Bayhaqi in 'Shu'ab al-Emaan' (12/57) No. 9018]

- Allah asked the people of bid'ah in surah 49:16 a question

Say: "Will you inform Allah about your religion? While Allah knows all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth, and Allah is All-Aware of everything. (Al-Hujurat 49:16)

- monasticism (abstaining from marriage) is an example of innovation practiced by the priests

…But the Monasticism which they invented for themselves, We did not prescribe for them, but (they sought it) only to please Allah therewith, but that they did not observe it with the right observance. So We gave those among them who believed, their (due) reward, but many of them are Fasiqun (rebellious, disobedient to Allah). (Al-Hadid 57:27)

- whenever you invent new things in the religion, you act like you know better than Allah

- Another example of a bid'ah is the adhan of the Shia
- They add sentences to the adhan
- Also, have you seen the Salah of the Shia? He prays on the earth and makes sajda on a stone. That is bidah
- Have you heard of khatam (death anniversary)? This is also bid'ah
- Reciting the Holy Quran at the graveyard is bid'ah
- To recite Surah Yasin over the dead people is also bid'ah

- There are many more examples of bid'ah that the Muslims indulge in
- some wear the holy Quran around their neck for protection, that is also bid'ah
- To make dhikhr in Jama'ah and spread a white sheet in the masjid, turn off the light and believe that the prophet Muhammad (SAW) is making dhikr with you, that is bid'ah, Sufis do this
- To take food to the grave, leave it on the grave, buy drapes for the grave and make tawwaf around the grave, that is bid'ah, the Sufi's do this also
- To believe that when a man does major kufr, he is not a kaafir until he makes his kufr halal with his tongue - that is bid'ah and this is the Saudi Salafi creed

1. Aqeedah
2. Fiqh
3. Manhaj

- To believe that when a leader dismantles the Shariah and replaces it with man-made laws, to believe that leader is perfect in eeman, this is bid’ah and this is the creed of the saudi salafi
- To believe that when you insult Muhammad (SAW) that you are not a kaafir, this is bid’ah in regards to Aqeedah and this was the creed of Albani
- To call the kuffaar to shariah in dar ul-harb is bid’ah in regards to manhaj (methodology)
- To use democracy to win power from the kuffar is bid’ah in regards to manhaj.
- This is the plight of ikhwaan in Egypt (Ikhwaan means brotherhood)
- In order for you to be rightly guided, your Aqeedah has to be right, as well as your Fiqh and Manhaj

And when harm touches men, they cry sincerely only to their Lord (Allāh), turning to Him in repentance, but when He gives them a taste of His Mercy, behold! a party of them associate partners in worship with their Lord. (Ar-Rum 30:33)

- The Quran is the greatest book of psychology
- When man is in a plight, he turns to Allah
- Here, Allah gives you a peep into mans psychology
- Many verses in the Quran says how when a man is in a plight, and when his calamity is removed, man returns to his associating partners

And when they embark on a ship, they invoke Allah, making their Faith pure for Him only, but when He brings them safely to land, behold, they give a share of their worship to others. (Al-'Ankabut 29:65)

- Man likes to use you and then he dumps you
- The pharaoh did a similar thing
- When Allah removed the calamity from the pharaoh, he broke his promise

And when the punishment fell on them they said: "O Musa (Moses)! Invoke your Lord for us because of His Promise to you. If you will remove the punishment from us, we indeed shall believe in you, and we shall let the Children of Israel go with you." (134) But when We removed the punishment from them to a fixed term, which they had to reach, behold! They broke their word! (Al-A'raf 7:134-135)

- That is man. He likes to go back on his word.
- Some them will use you for your money, sex, contacts with important people, knowledge etc.
- Your experience of 20 years is better than any university degree
- People will always use you because they even use Allah

لِيَكْفُرُوا بِمَا آتَيْنَاهُمْ فَتَمَتَّعُوا فَسَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ
So as to be ungrateful for the graces which We have bestowed on them. Then enjoy (your short life); but you will come to know. (Ar-Rum 30:34)

- Allah is saying that man is ungrateful in the above mentioned ayah
- If you were ungrateful to Allah, inevitably you are going to be ungrateful to the creation of Allah

Verily! Man (disbeliever) is ungrateful to his Lord; (6) And to that fact he bears witness (by his deeds); (7) And verily, he is violent in the love of wealth. (Al-'Adiyat 100:6-8)

- If you try and count the blessings of Allah, you cannot count them. They are too many

…and if you count the Blessings of Allāh, never will you be able to count them. Verily! Man is indeed an extreme wrong-doer, - a disbeliever (an extreme ingrate, denies Allāh's Blessings by disbelief, and by worshipping others besides Allāh, and by disobeying Allāh and His Prophet Muhammad SAW). (Ibrahim 14:34)

- An ingrate is a person who is ungrateful
- People in India worship monkeys. What did monkeys’ do for you?
- Did the monkey give you life, bring you rain? Nothing

أَمْ أَنْزَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ سُلْطَانًا فَهُوَ يَتَكَلَّمُ بِمَا كَانُوا بِهِ يُشْرِكُونَ
Or have We revealed to them a Scripture, which speaks of that which they have been associating with Him? (Ar-Rum 30:35)

- Did you know that when Prophet Yusuf was in prison in Egypt, he was teaching tawheed? - he told the people what is better to have one Lord or many lords?
- I like these verses (12:39-40) because it has the four tawheeds inside of it

"O two companions of the prison! Are many different lords (gods) better or Allāh, the One, the Irresistible? (39) "You do not worship besides Him but only names which you have named (forged), you and your fathers, for which Allāh has sent down no authority. The command (or the judgement) is for none but Allāh. He has commanded that you worship none but Him (i.e. His Monotheism), that is the (true) straight religion, but most men know not. (Yusuf 12:39-40)

- Most men will become kuffaar and die as kuffaar
- The majority don’t believe, reflect or think
- That's why I always warn you to stay away from the majority
- Why? Because the masses are asses
- Allah asks you a question in the 42:21:

Or even do they have associates (with Allah) who have legislated for them as the religion that which Allah has not given permission? And had it not been for the Word of Verdict, indeed it would have been decreed between them, and surely the unjust will have a painful torment. (Ash-Shura 42:21) [Dr. Ghali Translation]

- People like to follow a religion that is made up. If you tell them they can drink alcohol, they would be very happy
- People want you to legislate for them a new religion because they have problems with the rules
- So they are looking for wicked scholars to change the religion.
- Scholars for dollars because most of them are not sincere

And when We cause mankind to taste of mercy, they rejoice therein, but when some evil afflicts them because of (evil deeds and sins) that their (own) hands have sent forth, lo! They are in despair! (Ar-Rum 30:36)

- What the ayah is saying, when good comes it is from Allah. When bad comes it is from your own doing

Whatever of good reaches you, is from Allāh, but whatever of evil befalls you, is from yourself… (An-Nisa 4:79)

- Sometimes people suffer poverty because of their sins

It was narrated from Thawban that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: "Nothing increases one's life span except righteousness and nothing repels the Divine decree except supplication, and a man may be deprived of provision by a sin that he commits."' [Sunan Ibn Majah (5/152) No. 4022, Musnad Ahmad (5/277) No. 22440, Mustadrak al-Haakim (1/670) No. 1814, Sahih Ibn Hibban (3/153) No. 872, al-Sunan al-Kubra al-Nasa'i (10/380) No. 11775]

- Allah also said that you would despair when a calamity befalls you.
- Don't forget Prophet Jacob sent his sons to search for Yusuf and said:

...and never give up hope of Allāh's Mercy. Certainly no one despairs of Allāh's Mercy, except the people who disbelieve." (Yusuf 12:87)

Verily, with the hardship, there is relief (i.e. there is one hardship with two reliefs, so one hardship cannot overcome two reliefs). (Ash-Sharh 94:6)

- Then Allah said some of you worship Me on the edge (in doubt) as mentioned in 22:11

And among mankind is he who worships Allāh as it were, upon the very edge (i.e. in doubt); if good befalls him, he is content therewith; but if a trial befalls him, he turns back on his face (i.e. reverts back to disbelief after embracing Islām). He loses both this world and the Hereafter. That is the evident loss. (Al-Hajj 22:11)

- You are a fake Muslim with your doubts
- We seek refuge in Allah from the plight of hypocrisy

Suhayb Ibn Sinan narrated the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: “Wonderful are the affairs of a believer; for there is good in every affair of his; this is not the case with anyone else except a believer. If he has an occasion to feel delight, he thanks (Allah), thus there is good for him in it. If he suffers affliction, he endures patiently, which is good for him. [Sahih Muslim (4/2295) No. 2999]

Do they not see that Allāh enlarges the provision for whom He wills and straitens (it for whom He wills). Verily, in that are indeed signs for a people who believe. (Ar-Rum 30:37)

- This ayah is saying Allah provides without measure
- If you know this, you would never envy the person for the barakah Allah bestows on him

Every time he entered Al-Mihrāb to (visit) her, he found her supplied with sustenance. He said: "O Maryam (Mary)! From where have you got this?" She said, "This is from Allāh." Verily, Allāh provides sustenance to whom He wills, without limit." (Aali Imran 3:37)

- Every time Zakariyyah would go to Mariam, he would see her with fruits.

Umar ibn Khattab reported that Allah’s Messenger said “If you trust in Allah observing a true trust in Him, then, indeed, He will give you provision as He provides the birds who emerge hungry in the morning and return with a full belly in the evening.” [Sunan Tirmidhi (4/573) 2344, Musnad Ahmad (1/30) No. 205, Sunan Ibn Majah (5/266) No. 4164]
