(NOTES & AUDIO) Tafsir Surah Qasas - Allah (swt) Spoke To Musa (as) - Part 3

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ


فَلَمَّا قَضَى مُوسَى الْأَجَلَ وَسَارَ بِأَهْلِهِ آنَسَ مِنْ جَانِبِ الطُّورِ نَارًا قَالَ لِأَهْلِهِ امْكُثُوا إِنِّي آنَسْتُ نَارًا لَعَلِّي آتِيكُمْ مِنْهَا بِخَبَرٍ أَوْ جَذْوَةٍ مِنَ النَّارِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَصْطَلُونَ
Then, when Musa (Moses) had fulfilled the term, and was travelling with his family, he saw a fire in the direction of Tur (Mount). He said to his family: "Wait, I have seen a fire; perhaps I may bring to you from there some information, or a burning fire-brand that you may warm yourselves." (Al-Qasas 28:29)

- Mount Tur mentioned in the above Ayah is in the direction of Egypt
- The Term Allah (SWT) refers to is the 8 YEARS Musa (AS) agreed to work for his father in-law as Dowry for his marriage
- However Musa (AS) worked for an extra two years as an act of SADAQA
- Therefore the total term is that of 10 YEARS - 8 AGREED UPON + 2 SADAQA
- This indicates that every MUSLIM MARRIAGE must involve a DOWRY that must be paid to the BRIDE

- The Ulama exclaim that that the reason Musa (AS) was travelling towards Egypt because he missed his own family. This is the opinion of the Scholars
- Thus Musa (AS) was planning to covertly enter Egypt to visit his beloved family without the knowledge of the Pharaoh
- This was the plan of Musa (AS), however ALLAH (SWT) had HIS OWN PLAN
- Musa (AS) saw a fire in the middle of the desert and decided to proactively investigate it
- This indicates that Musa (AS) was a brave man. This is because all the Prophets of ALLAH are brave men

- Also Musa (AS) aimed to get information or firewood from the place he saw the fire
- This indicates that the desert becomes really cold at night


فَلَمَّا أَتَاهَا نُودِيَ مِنْ شَاطِئِ الْوَادِ الْأَيْمَنِ فِي الْبُقْعَةِ الْمُبَارَكَةِ مِنَ الشَّجَرَةِ أَنْ يَا مُوسَى إِنِّي أَنَا اللَّهُ رَبُّ الْعَالَمِينَ
So when he reached it (the fire), he was called from the right side of the valley, in the blessed place from the tree: "O Musa (Moses)! Verily! I am Allah, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)! (Al-Qasas 28:30)

- When Musa (AS) reached the vicinity of the Fire, he was called upon from the RIGHT SIDE OF THE VALLEY


وَأَنْ أَلْقِ عَصَاكَ فَلَمَّا رَآهَا تَهْتَزُّ كَأَنَّهَا جَانٌّ وَلَّى مُدْبِرًا وَلَمْ يُعَقِّبْ يَا مُوسَى أَقْبِلْ وَلَا تَخَفْ إِنَّكَ مِنَ الْآمِنِينَ
"And throw your stick!" But when he saw it moving as if it were a snake, he turned in flight, and looked not back. (It was said): "O Musa (Moses)! Draw near, and fear not. Verily, you are of those who are secure. (Al-Qasas 28:31)

- The rod that Musa (AS) carried was changed into a snake by the will of ALLAH (SWT)
- This caused Musa (AS) to runaway from the snake and he did not even look back

- This action indicates that it is mans natural instinct to have a innate fear for SNAKES

- This incident of Musa (AS) going to the Fire, and Allah (SWT) speaking to him is also mentioned in Surah Al Naml

(Remember) when Musa (Moses) said to his household: "Verily! I have seen a fire, I will bring you from there some information, or I will bring you a burning brand, that you may warm yourselves." (7) But when he came to it, he was called: "Blessed is whosoever is in the fire, and whosoever is round about it! And glorified be Allah, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). (8) "O Musa (Moses)! Verily! It is I, Allah, the All-Mighty, the All-Wise. (9) "And throw down your stick!" But when he saw it moving as if it were a snake, he turned in flight, and did not look back. (It was said) : "O Musa (Moses)! Fear not, verily! The Messengers fear not in front of Me. (10) "Except him who has done wrong and afterwards has changed evil for good, then surely, I am Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. (11) "And put your hand into your bosom, it will come forth white without hurt. (These are) among the nine signs (you will take) to Fir'aun (Pharaoh) and his people, they are a people who are the Fasiqun (rebellious, disobedient to Allah). (An-Naml 27:7-12)

- Please notice that Allah (SWT) referred to Musa (AS) wife as his household in the above mentioned AYAHS
- This is clear proof against the SHIA BLASPHEMY related to the status of the PROPHET (SAWS) wives, especially the daughters of Abu Bakr and Umar

- The Ayah also mentioned that whosoever is in the FIRE is BLESSED and whosoever around it is blessed.
- The blessed being in the Fire was the Angel Jibreel (AS). ALLAH (SWT) is above the Heavens.
- And the person around the Fire was Musa (AS)


اسْلُكْ يَدَكَ فِي جَيْبِكَ تَخْرُجْ بَيْضَاءَ مِنْ غَيْرِ سُوءٍ وَاضْمُمْ إِلَيْكَ جَنَاحَكَ مِنَ الرَّهْبِ فَذَانِكَ بُرْهَانَانِ مِنْ رَبِّكَ إِلَى فِرْعَوْنَ وَمَلَئِهِ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا قَوْمًا فَاسِقِينَ
"Put your hand in your bosom, it will come forth white without a disease, and draw your hand close to your side to be free from fear (that which you suffered from the snake, and also by that your hand will return to its original state). these are two Burhan (signs, miracles, evidences, proofs) from your Lord to Fir'aun (Pharaoh) and his chiefs. Verily, they are the people who are Fasiqun (rebellious, disobedient to Allah). (Al-Qasas 28:32)

- Allah (SWT) mentioned the hand of Musa (AS) and His Staff in the above Ayah. These were designated by ALLAH (SWT) to be his two SIGNS

Ibn ‘Abbas, Mujahid, ‘Ikrimah, Ash-Sha’bi and Qatadah said: "They are his hand, his staff, the years of famine, the failure of the crops, the flood, the locusts, the lice, the frogs and the blood.'' [Tafseer Ibn Katheer (5/124)]

- However, ALLAH (SWT) provided Musa (AS) a total of 9 signs that Ibn Katheer has mentioned in the above Hujjah
- When the Pharaoh witnessed these signs, his wretched soul found it unbearable and in fact begged Musa (AS) to remove the disasters
- In return the Pharaoh would accept the LORD OF EVERYTHING THAT EXISTS.

And when the punishment fell on them they said: "O Musa (Moses)! Invoke your Lord for us because of His Promise to you. If you will remove the punishment from us, we indeed shall believe in you, and we shall let the Children of Israel go with you." (134) But when We removed the punishment from them to a fixed term, which they had to reach, behold! They broke their word! (Al-A'raf 7:134-135)

- Thus Musa (AS) prayed to ALLAH to remove the disasters so that Pharaoh can willingly release the Children of Israel
- However when ALLAH (SWT) fulfilled HIS part of the bargain, the PHARAOH renegaded and broke his word
- This indicates to us that the KAAFIR is a LIAR and TREACHEROUS and will never keep his promise

- In the above AYAH, ALLAH (SWT) spoke about Pharaoh and his chiefs, this is because PHARAOH did not act alone. He had advisors in his court
- The chief advisor in Pharaohs entourage was called HAMAN
- ALLAH (SWT) designated PHARAOH and his CHIEFS as the criminals and culprits who were to be blamed for the destruction of themselves and their people

Verily! Fir'aun (Pharaoh), Haman and their hosts were sinners. (Al-Qasas 28:8)

- Pharaohs host referred to in the above Ayah are the soldiers of Pharaoh Army

i.             Pharaoh
ii.            his advisors
iii.           his army

- Therefore there is no excuse to be part of an institution or unit that supports the Kaafir system


قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّي قَتَلْتُ مِنْهُمْ نَفْسًا فَأَخَافُ أَنْ يَقْتُلُونِ
He said: "My Lord! I have killed a man among them, and I fear that they will kill me. (Al-Qasas 28:33)

- In the above AYAH, Musa (AS) pleaded ALLAH (SWT) to protect him from the hands of Pharaoh. This is because TIME CANNOT HEAL EVERY CRIME

They said: "Our Lord! Verily! We fear lest he should hasten to punish us or lest he should transgress (all bounds against us)." (Ta-Ha 20:45)

- This Ayah also proves to you that if you are a Muslim and you fear for your life, you are not a Hypocrite, this is because even Prophets feared for their lives.
- Allah (SWT) spoke about the fear Musa (AS) had for the TAGHOOT that was Pharaoh in the above Ayah as well.
- 'WE" in the above ayah refers to both MUSA AND HAROON. So why did Haroon fear the Pharaoh when he did not kill anyone?
- This is because the evil Kuffaar believe in collective punishment

- For Example - The Saudi regime helped the Kuffaar murder Imam Anwar Al-Awlaki and his 16 year old son with a drone.


وَأَخِي هَارُونُ هُوَ أَفْصَحُ مِنِّي لِسَانًا فَأَرْسِلْهُ مَعِيَ رِدْءًا يُصَدِّقُنِي إِنِّي أَخَافُ أَنْ يُكَذِّبُونِ
"And my brother Harun (Aaron) he is more eloquent in speech than me so send him with me as a helper to confirm me. Verily! I fear that they will belie me." (Al-Qasas 28:34)

- The above incident was also mentioned in Surah TAHA

"Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh)! Verily, he has transgressed (all bounds in disbelief and disobedience, and has behaved as an arrogant, and as a tyrant)." (24) [Musa (Moses)] said: "O my Lord! Open for me my chest (grant me self-confidence, contentment, and boldness). (25) "And ease my task for me; (26) "And make loose the knot (the defect) from my tongue, (i.e. remove the incorrectness from my speech) [That occurred as a result of a brand of fire which Musa (Moses) put in his mouth when he was an infant]. [Tafsir At-Tabari, Vol. 16, Page 159]. (27) "That they understand my speech, (28) "And appoint for me a helper from my family, (29) "Harun (Aaron), my brother; (30) "Increase my strength with him, (31) "And let him share my task (of conveying Allah's Message and Prophethood), (32) "That we may glorify You much, (33) "And remember You much, (34) "Verily! You are of us Ever a Well-Seer." (35) Allah said: "You are granted your request, O Musa (Moses)! (Ta-Ha 20:24-36)

- The above Ayahs of Surah Taha reveal to us a famous DUA of Nabi MUSA (AS).

- Musa (AS) had a disability in his speech.
- To have clear speech, that is eloquent is a great Barakah from ALLAH. This is why Musa (AS) asked ALLAH for this blessing.

- To have your family support you in your endeavours is also a great BARAKAH from ALLAH. This is why Musa (AS) asked Allah for this blessing

- And so ALLAH (SWT) bestowed His GRACE on Musa (AS) and provided him with his requests.

"And my brother Harun (Aaron) he is more eloquent in speech than me so send him with me as a helper to confirm me. Verily! I fear that they will belie me." (Al-Qasas 28:34)

Narrated Ibn 'Umar: 'Two men came from the East and addressed the people who wondered at their eloquent speeches. On that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: "Some eloquent speech is as effective as magic."' [Sahih Bukhari (7/19) No. 5146]

- When someone is able to clearly express themselves through speech, this is a great blessing

"Am I not better than this one [Musa (Moses)], who is Mahin [has no honour nor any respect, and is weak and despicable] and can scarcely express himself clearly? (Az-Zukhruf 43:52)

- The Pharaoh actually taunted Musa (AS) because of his speech impediment and looked down upon the Messenger of ALLAH.
- This proves that the Taghoot are so evil, so shameless, and so desperate that they would use the disability of a Muslim against them.
- Musa (AS) asked Allah (SWT) to send with him his brother Haroon because Haroon did not have any speech impediment
- SAFIA, the wife of the Prophet (SAWS), was from the lineage of the Prophet Haroon

It is related by Anas that on one occasion, the Prophet (SAW) found Safiyyah weeping. When he asked her what the matter was, she replied that she heard that Hafsah had disparagingly described her as 'the daughter of a Jew'. The Prophet (SAW) responded by saying, "You are certainly the daughter of a Prophet (Harun), and certainly your uncle was a Prophet (Moses), and you are certainly the wife of a Prophet (Muhammad), so what is there in that to be scornful towards you?" Then he said to Hafsah, "O Hafsah, fear Allah!" [related by Abu Naeem al-Asbahani in 'Hilyatul-Awliya' (2/55)]


قَالَ سَنَشُدُّ عَضُدَكَ بِأَخِيكَ وَنَجْعَلُ لَكُمَا سُلْطَانًا فَلَا يَصِلُونَ إِلَيْكُمَا بِآيَاتِنَا أَنْتُمَا وَمَنِ اتَّبَعَكُمَا الْغَالِبُونَ
Allah said: "We will strengthen your arm through your brother, and give you both power, so they shall not be able to harm you, with Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), you two as well as those who follow you will be the victors." (Al-Qasas 28:35)

- Allah (SWT) promised Musa (AS) strength and VICTORY from HIMSELF


فَلَمَّا جَاءَهُمْ مُوسَى بِآيَاتِنَا بَيِّنَاتٍ قَالُوا مَا هَذَا إِلَّا سِحْرٌ مُفْتَرًى وَمَا سَمِعْنَا بِهَذَا فِي آبَائِنَا الْأَوَّلِينَ
Then when Musa (Moses) came to them with Our Clear Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), they said: "This is nothing but invented magic. Never did we hear of this among our fathers of old." (Al-Qasas 28:36)

- The Pharaoh and his chiefs dismissed the Miracles given by ALLAH (SWT) to Musa (AS) falsely claiming that Musa (AS) was performing MAGIC

- When the Prophet SAWS brought TAUHEED to Makkah the pagans of Quraish accused the Holy Prophet (SAWS) of being a magician

Verily, he thought and plotted; (18) So let him be cursed! How he plotted! (19) And once more let him be cursed, how he plotted! (20) Then he thought; (21) Then he frowned and he looked in a bad tempered way; (22) Then he turned back and was proud; (23) Then he said: "This is nothing but magic from that of old; (24) "This is nothing but the word of a human being!" (25) I will cast him into Hell-fire (Al-Muddaththir 74:18-26)

- Not only did Pharaoh and his people reject the Message Musa (AS) brought but they said they will hold on to their forefathers religion and way of life. The Pagans of Makkah claimed the same loyalty to Kufr in front of Muhammad (SAWS).

When it is said to them: "Follow what Allah has sent down." They say: "Nay! We shall follow what we found our fathers following." (Would they do that!) Even though their fathers did not understand anything nor were they guided? (Al-Baqarah 2:170)

- Both the people of the Pharaoh and the Kaafirs of Makkah, accused the MESSENGERS of dabbling in MAGIC.
- This proves that every Prophet was accused of being a Magician
- Also every MUJAHID fighting FEE SABEEL ALLAH is accused of being a Khawaarij
- People are loyal to their KUFR SHIRK AND ZANDAQA. They hate ISLAM AND SHARIA


'Abdur-Rahmaan Ibn Muhammad Ibn Habeeb Ibn Abee Habeeb on the authority of his father, on the authority of his grandfather [who] said: I witnessed Khaalid Ibn 'Abdullah Al-Qasree - and he addressed them at Waasit - "Oh People, make sacrifice, may Allah accept it from you. Verily I am sacrificing Al-Ja'd Ibn Dirham, for indeed he claims that Allah did not take Ibrahim as a khaleel (close friend), and [that] He did not speak to Moosa. Most Perfect is He and exalted is He from what Al-Ja'd says." Then he descended and slaughtered him. I say: And the Jahmiyyah and Mu'tazilah speak with this, and they distort the text of the revelation regarding that, and they claim that the Lord is purified of that (i.e. having spoken to Moses and taken Ibrahim as a khalil). [Mukhtasar al-Uluww of adh-Dhahabi, (p.134)]

- The above mentioned incident refers to the governor of Iraq, on the day of EID, who chopped off the head of Jad Ibn Dirham because he claimed that ALLAH did not take Ibrahim as his Khalil and that ALLAH (SWT) did not speak to MUSA

- However the Quran IS CLEAR
