And He is Allah; La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He). His is all praise, in the first (i.e. in this world) and in the last ( the Hereafter). And for Him is the Decision, and to Him shall you (all) be returned. (Al-Qasas 28:70)

This first part of the ayah – ‘There is no deity worthy of worship except Him’
- This is the foundation of the deen – al-Islam
- Which is Tauheed (monotheism)
- If His is the Praise in the dunya, so is it His in the Hereafter

When Allah (SWT) said: ‘His is the Decision’
- This means His alone is the right to rule
- He doesn’t allow anyone to share in His decision (rule)

...and He makes none to share in His Decision and His Rule." (Al-Kahf 18:26)

There are other verses that talk about this:

"O two companions of the prison! Are many different lords (gods) better or Allah, the One, the Irresistible? (39) "You do not worship besides Him but only names which you have named (forged), you and your fathers, for which Allah has sent down no authority. The command (or the judgement) is for none but Allah. He has commanded that you worship none but Him (i.e. His Monotheism), that is the (true) straight religion, but most men know not. (Yusuf 12:39-40)

…Surely, His is the Creation and Commandment. Blessed be Allah, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)! (Al-A'raf 7:54)

Allah has made Takfir on anyone who doesn't judge by His law:

…And whoever does not judge by what Allah has revealed - then it is those who are the disbelievers. (Al-Ma’idah 5:44)

Allah has made takfir on those who don't judge by what He has revealed
- Allah doesn't allow anyone to share with His Decision

Ibn Taymiyyah (rh) said: “And it is known from the religion (of Islam) by necessity and by the consensus of all Muslims that whoever legalizes to follow other than the religion of Islam or a Shariah other than the Shariah of Muhammad (SAW), he is a Kaafir. And his kufr is similar to that of the one who believes in some part of the book (Quran) and reject some of it.” [Majmua al-Fataawa (28/524)]

Ibn Kathir (rh) said: “So Whosoever abandons the wise Shariah which was revealed upon Muhammad ibn Abdullah, the seal of the prophets, and goes to other abrogated Shariah for judgment, he becomes a Kaafir. So how about the one who goes to al-Yaasiq (man-made law) for judgment and gives it precedence (over the Shariah of Muhammad (SAW). Whosoever does this has become a Kaafir by the Ijma of the Muslims.” [Al-Bidayah Wan-Nihayah, (Vol. 13, p119)]

- Ibn Kathir (rh) and Ibn Qayyum al-Jawziya (rh) were students of Ibn Taymiyyah (rh)

Ibn Katheer (rh) said: “Thus, it has become in his sons a followed law to which they have been giving precedence over ruling by the book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger (SAW). Whoever does this is a Kaafir who must be fought until he returns to the rule of Allah and His Messenger. So no one other than He should rule neither minorly or majorly." [Tafseer Ibn Katheer (3/131)]

'Allama al-Shinqiti (rh) said:” To commit shirk with Allah in judging is of the same meaning as to commit shirk in His worship, there is no difference between the two in any manner. There is no difference in any sense between he who follows a system (nizam) other than Allah's system or law other than Allah's law (sharia) and he who worships an idol or prostrates to a false god. They are the same and both are polytheists [associating others] with Allah.” [Adwa' al-Bayan, (7/162)]

Shaikh 'Abdul-'Azeez Ibn 'Abdullah Ibn Baaz said: "There is no Eeman for the one who believes the laws of the people and their opinions are superior to the Hukm of Allah and His Messenger or that they are equal to it or that they resemble it or who leaves it or replaces it with fabricated laws and institutions invented by people, even if he believes that the laws of Allah are more encompassing and more just." [Wujoob Tah'keem Shari'ah Allah' (pg. 16-17)]

Shaikh Muhammad Ibn Saalih al-'Uthaymeen said: "The first type is when the Hukm of Allah is removed and replaced with another Taghuutee Hukm, so that the Hukm of the Shari'ah is eliminated between the people and he puts in its place another Hukm from the fabrication of the humans and they remove the laws of the Shari'ah concerning the Mu'amalah (i. e. the general actions between people) and they put in its place fabricated laws and this, without doubt, is Istib'daal (i. e. replacement) of the Shari'ah of Allah subhaanahuu wa-ta'ala, with other than it. And this is Kufr which removes one from the Milla because this person put himself at the level of the Creator because he shara'a (legislated) for the slaves of Allah that which Allah ta'ala did not give permission for and that is Shirk in His, ta'ala's saying: "Or have they partners with Allâh (false gods), who have instituted for them a religion, which Allâh has not allowed?" (Ash-Shu'ara, 21) [Fiqh al-'Ebaadaat (pg. 55)]

The fatwa of Uthaymeen is talking about the different types of Taghoot
- The first type is when the shariah is dismantled
- The burden is on the one who claims: that dismantling the shariah is a minor kufr; to bring the proof of his claim
- We brought fatawa from all these scholars to show that it is major kuft to dismantle the shariah
- Rather their claim is zandaqa (heresy)

- Return to Allah (SWT) in the ayah (28:70) means on the Day of Judgment

AYAH 71-73

Say (O Muhammad SAW): “Tell me! If Allah made night continuous for you till the Day of Resurrection, who is an ilah (a god) besides Allah who could bring you light? Will you not then hear?” (71) Say (O Muhammad SAW): “Tell me! If Allah made day continuous for you till the Day of Resurrection, who is an ilah (a god) besides Allah who could bring you night wherein you rest? Will you not then see?” (72) It is out of His Mercy that He has put for you night and day, that you may rest therein (i.e. during the night) and that you may seek of His Bounty (i.e. during the day), and in order that you may be grateful. (Al-Qasas 28:71-73)

Allah first speaks about the night
-If Allah continues the night, who will bring light?
-Then Allah asks the opposite question
- If Allah continues the day, who will bring the night?
- These are blessings Allah gives us but we take them for granted

Verily! In the creation of the heavens and the earth, and in the alternation of night and day, there are indeed signs for men of understanding. (Aali Imran 3:190)

It's out of Allah’s Mercy that He brings us day and night
- It’s easier to produce light because of electricity
- But the darkness is very difficult to produce
- These are points to use against the atheist

The alterations of the night and day is done with continuance order and system
- Continuous night or day will bring depression and stress
- Therefore, it's out of Allah's mercy that He gives us night and day

And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. (9) And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), (10) And have made the day for livelihood. (An-Naba 78:9-11)

When you go to the masjid for Friday Khutbah, you should go and seek your livelihood after the Khutbah
- There's no Sabbath in Islam

Then when the (Jumu'ah) Salat (prayer) is finished, you may disperse through the land, and seek the Bounty of Allah (by working, etc.), and remember Allah much, that you may be successful. (Al-Jumu'ah 62:10)

The sun, moon and stars are controlled by Allah (SWT)
- This is why Allah is asking the questions

Allah is He Who raised the heavens without any pillars that you can see. Then, He Istawa (rose above) the Throne (really in a manner that suits His Majesty). He has subjected the sun and the moon (to continue going round)! Each running (its course) for a term appointed. He regulates all affairs, explaining the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) in detail, that you may believe with certainty in the meeting with your Lord. (Ra'd 13:2)

The Shia will beg to differ
- They claim that the sun, moon and stars are subservient to their imams

The spiritual status of the imam is the universal divine vice-gerency that is sometimes mentioned by the imams (peace be upon them). It is a vice-gerency pertaining to the whole of creation, by virtue of which all the atoms in the universe humble themselves before the holder of authority (imams). It is one of the essential beliefs of our Shia school that no one can attain the spiritual status of the imams, not even the cherubim or the prophets. [Imam Khomeini, Islam and Revolution: Writings and Declarations of Imam Khomeini, (Berkeley: Mizaan Press, 1981)]

The Shia have a God-complex

And He it is Who has put the night and the day in succession, for such who desires to remember or desires to show his gratitude. (Al-Furqan 25:62)

- So do not take the night or day for granted but rather show gratitude

And (remember) the Day when He (your Lord Allah) will call them (those who worshipped others along with Allah), and will say: "Where are My (so-called) partners, whom you used to assert?" (Al-Qasas 28:74)

A believer will not be in that situation on the Day of Judgment
- Our shahadah saves us from shirk
- The pagans will be in that situation
- Every kafir is a pagan
- Some people will say: 'Jews are not pagan'
- the rabbis make halal haram and haram halal.

They (Jews and Christians) took their rabbis and their monks to be their lords besides Allah (by obeying them in things which they made lawful or unlawful according to their own desires without being ordered by Allah), and (they also took as their Lord) Messiah, son of Maryam (Mary), while they (Jews and Christians) were commanded [in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)) to worship none but One Ilah (God - Allah) La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He). Praise and glory be to Him, (far above is He) from having the partners they associate (with Him)." (At-Tawbah 9:31)

Shirk is not just worshipping something other than Allah
- But also obeying a law other than Allah's law

And when they embark on a ship, they invoke Allah, making their Faith pure for Him only, but when He brings them safely to land, behold, they give a share of their worship to others. (Al-'Ankabut 29:65)

The pagans would worship others than Allah in a state of prosperity
- But when hardship occurs, they go back to their fitrah
- Because they know wood and stones is no benefit to them

And We shall take out from every nation a witness, and We shall say: "Bring your proof." Then they shall know that the truth is with Allah (Alone), and the lies (false gods) which they invented will disappear from them. (Al-Qasas 28:75)

The key word in ayah is 'witness'
- Ibn Kathir said that the word witness means a messenger
- In other words, Allah says that He sent every nation a messenger
- Commanding the people to worship Allah and reject the Taghoot

And verily, We have sent among every Ummah (community, nation) a Messenger (proclaiming): "Worship Allah (Alone), and avoid (or keep away from) Taghut (all false deities, etc. i.e. do not worship Taghut besides Allah)."Then of them were some whom Allah guided and of them were some upon whom the straying was justified. So travel through the land and see what was the end of those who denied (the truth). (An-Nahl 16:36)

It’s worthy to mention that we, the Muslims, will be witnesses also
- We Muslims will also testify against the kuffaar
- And the Prophet (SAW) will be a witness against us

Thus We have made you [true Muslims - real believers of Islamic Monotheism, true followers of Prophet Muhammad and his Sunnah (legal ways)], a Wasat (just) (and the best) nation, that you be witnesses over mankind and the Messenger (Muhammad) be a witness over you. And We made the Qiblah (prayer direction towards Jerusalem) which you used to face, only to test those who followed the Messenger (Muhammad) from those who would turn on their heels (i.e. disobey the Messenger). Indeed it was great (heavy) except for those whom Allah guided. And Allah would never make your faith (prayers) to be lost (i.e. your prayers offered towards Jerusalem). Truly, Allah is full of kindness, the Most Merciful towards mankind. (Al-Baqarah 2:143)

Verily, Qarun (Korah) was of Musa's (Moses) people, but he behaved arrogantly towards them. And We gave him of the treasures, that of which the keys would have been a burden to a body of strong men. When his people said to him: "Do not be glad (with ungratefulness to Allah's Favours). Verily! Allah likes not those who are glad (with ungratefulness to Allah's Favours). (Al-Qasas 28:76)

Qaroon was a cousin of Musa (AS), but he was an enemy of Musa
-Ibn Kathir said that Qaroon was so wealthy that
- It took 60 mules to transport the keys to his treasure
- So the question is: 'How could Qaroon (as a Jew) have so much wealth under Pharaoh?'
- Because he was a friend of Pharaoh and an opponent of Musa
- So Pharaoh allowed him to get rich

But seek, with that (wealth) which Allah has bestowed on you, the home of the Hereafter, and forget not your portion of legal enjoyment in this world, and do good as Allah has been good to you, and seek not mischief in the land. Verily, Allah likes not the Mufsidun (those who commit great crimes and sins, oppressors, tyrants, mischief-makers, corrupts). (Al-Qasas 28:77)

Allah states in the Quran that it's allowed to fun as long as it's halal
- These instructions were directed to Qaroon
- When Musa instructed him to give zakat,
- He arrogantly said that he became rich not because of Allah but rather by his intelligence
- Qaroon never used to say Al-hamdulillah
- He used to wear the best of jewellery.
- Even his animal had jewellery on
- He was a first cousin of Musa, not even a distant cousin

The Taghoot policy is that if you take sides with him, he will make you rich,
- This applies to both past and present Tawagheet
- But if you oppose him, he will make you poor
- This is why the modern day Taghoot side with America because they fear for their wealth

He said: "This has been given to me only because of knowledge I possess." Did he not know that Allah had destroyed before him generations, men who were stronger than him in might and greater in the amount (of riches) they had collected. But the Mujrimun (criminals, disbelievers, polytheists, sinners, etc.) will not be questioned of their sins (because Allah knows them well, so they will be punished without account). (Al-Qasas 28:78)

Qaroon believed that his wealth was due to his intelligence.
- He used to mock the poor people for their ‘foolishness’
- The people of ‘Ad and Thamud were also rich
- Nimrod was also richer than Qaroon
- Those nations were all destroyed by Allah (SWT)

So he went forth before his people in his pomp. Those who were desirous of the life of the world, said: "Ah, would that we had the like of what Qarun (Korah) has been given? Verily! He is the owner of a great fortune." (Al-Qasas 28:79)

He came out showing off and the people were influenced by his pomp
- His plan started to work because some of the people became jealous and envious
- He had so much wealth because they used to have a longer life span
- That’s why he needed 60 mules just to transfer the keys to his treasures

But those who had been given (religious) knowledge said: "Woe to you! The Reward of Allah (in the Hereafter) is better for those who believe and do righteous good deeds, and this none shall attain except those who are patient (in following the truth)." (Al-Qasas 28:80)

The knowledgeable ones among the Jews used to tell others not to envy him.
- And that the reward with Allah is greater
- Only the weak ones were affected by his pomp
- Qaroon sided with Pharaoh because he wanted to get rich

And (We destroyed also) Qarun (Korah), Fir'aun (Pharaoh), and Haman. And indeed Musa (Moses) came to them with clear Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), but they were arrogant in the land, yet they could not outstrip Us (escape Our punishment). (Al-'Ankabut 29:39)

Allah would mentions Pharaoh, Haman and Qaroon in the same verse
- And thus group them together
- Allah would mention them together because they were partners in kufr

These stories are not bedtime stories, but history repeating itself
-      A good storyteller can relate these stories to current events

AYAH 81-82

So We caused the earth to swallow him and his dwelling place. Then he had no group or party to help him against Allah, nor was he one of those who could save themselves. (81) And those who had desired (for a position like) his position the day before, began to say: "Know you not that it is Allah Who enlarges the provision or restricts it to whomsoever He pleases of His slaves. Had it not been that Allah was Gracious to us, He could have caused the earth to swallow us up (also)! Know you not that the disbelievers will never be successful. (Al-Qasas 28:81-82)

When the earth swallowed Qaroon, the same people who used to envy him denounced him
- Allah punished Qaroon because he paid a prostitute to say that she slept with Musa
- He is still sinking in the earth till today
- That was the straw that broke the camel's back

1. Allah gives wealth to whom He pleases

2. Wealth doesn't mean Allah loves you
- Allah loves you when He gives you the knowledge and understanding of the Deen

Narrated Muawiya: I heard the Prophet (SAW) saying, “If Allah wants to do good to a person, He makes him comprehend the religion. I am just a distributor, but the grant is from Allah. (And remember) that this nation (true Muslims) will keep on following Allah’s teachings strictly and they will not be harmed by any one going on a different path till Allah’s order (Day of Judgment) is established.” [al-Bukhari (71) and Muslim (1037)]

3. Wealth is a big test from Allah
- It's a fitnah and most people fail the test

And know that your possessions and your children are but a trial and that surely with Allah is a mighty reward. (Al-Anfal 8:28)

4. Qaroon took side with Pharaoh against Musa to keep his wealth
- Allah tells us these stories to learn what is happening around us today
- This is why we see today the gulf Arabs are siding with the big taghoot to fight IS

And indeed We sent Musa (Moses) with Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), and a manifest authority, (23) To Fir'aun (Pharaoh), Haman and Qarun (Korah), but they called (him) : "A sorcerer, a liar!" (Ghafir 40:23-24)

5. Wealth makes some people arrogant

Abu Hurayra reported that the Messenger of Allah (SAW), said, "There are three people that Allah will not speak to on the Day of Rising nor purify nor look at and they will have a painful punishment: an old adulterer, a lying ruler and a poor person who is arrogant." [Sahih Muslim (1/102) No. 107, Musnad Ahmad (2/480) No. 10232]

6. People envy you for your wealth
- And those are the people with weak Imaan
- Most people envy the wealthy because they want to show off with material things

Ibn Masood (RA) narrated the Prophet (SAW) said: "Do not wish to be like anyone, except in two cases: (1) A man whom Allah has given wealth and he spends it righteously. (2) A man whom Allah has given wisdom (knowledge of the Qur'an and the Hadith) and he acts according to it and teaches it to others." [al-Bukhari (1409) and Muslim (816)]

7. The Taghoot will allow you to get rich if you rebel against the Haqq
- If you support the Haqq (truth) he will freeze your assets
- he will make you poor

Shaitan (Satan) threatens you with poverty and orders you to commit Fahsha (evil deeds, illegal sexual intercourse, sins etc.); whereas Allah promises you Forgiveness from Himself and Bounty, and Allah is All-Sufficient for His creatures’ needs, All-Knower. (Al-Baqarah 2:268)

8. The True Believers were not dazzled by the wealth of Qaroon
- The true believers were not dazzled because they knew all this in dunya is temporary

And whoever disbelieved, let not his disbelief grieve you (O Muhammad SAW),. to Us is their return, and We shall inform them what they have done. Verily, Allah is the AllKnower of what is in the breasts (of men). (23) We let them enjoy for a little while, then in the end We shall oblige them to (enter) a great torment. (Luqman 31:23-24)

9. Qaroon didn't thank Allah for the wealth because he didn't want to pay zakat

He said: "This has been given to me only because of knowledge I possess."… (Al-Qasas 28:78)

'A'isha reported: I said: Messenger of Allah, the son of Jud'an established ties of relationship, fed the poor. Would that be of any avail to him? He said: It would be of no avail to him as he did not ever say: O my Lord, pardon my sins on the Day of Resurrection. [Sahih Muslim (1/196) No. 214]

10. Kufaar encourage each other in kufr

And so We have appointed for every Prophet enemies - Shayatin (devils) among mankind and jinns, inspiring one another with adorned speech as a delusion (or by way of deception). If your Lord had so willed, they would not have done it, so leave them alone with their fabrications. (Tafseer Qurtubi, Vol.7, Page 67) (Al-An'am 6:112)

11. Allah always destroys the enemies of the Haqq

…Did he not know that Allah had destroyed before him generations, men who were stronger than him in might and greater in the amount (of riches) they had collected… (Al-Qasas 28:78)

- The Sunnah of Allah is to destroy the enemies of Haqq

12. Do not be impressed with the wealth of the kuffar and support them against the Haqq

So let not their wealth or their children amaze you (O Muhammad SAW); in reality Allah's Plan is to punish them with these things in the life of the this world, and that their souls shall depart (die) while they are disbelievers. (At-Tawbah 9:55)

13. Wealth should be use to spread Haqq and not fight Haqq

But seek, with that (wealth) which Allah has bestowed on you, the home of the Hereafter… (Qasas 28:77)

14. People tend to envy the rich and want to be like them
- The kufaar use rich people to promote haram

So he went forth before his people in his pomp. Those who were desirous of the life of the world, said: "Ah, would that we had the like of what Qarun (Korah) has been given? Verily! He is the owner of a great fortune." (Al-Qasas 28:79)

- The concept of fake designer clothing is to imitate the rich

15. Your enemies can be your own family

O you who believe! Verily, among your wives and your children there are enemies for you (i.e. may stop you from the obedience of Allah), therefore beware of them! But if you pardon (them) and overlook, and forgive (their faults), then verily, Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. (At-Taghabun 64:14)
