Tafsir Surah Al ‘Araf - Part 22 - Seek Refuge In Allah (swt) From The Shayateen Of Human And Jinn
By Shaikh Abdullah Faisal
Saturday November 1st 2014

AYAH 193

And if you call them to guidance, they follow you not. It is the same for you whether you call them or you keep silent. (Al-A'raf 7:193)

When you read this ayah above, ayah 2:6-7 may come to mind

Verily, those who disbelieve, it is the same to them whether you (O Muhammad Peace be upon him ) warn them or do not warn them, they will not believe. (Al-Baqarah 2:6)

Allah has set a seal on their hearts and on their hearings, (i.e. they are closed from accepting Allah's Guidance), and on their eyes there is a covering. Theirs will be a great torment. (Al-Baqarah 2:7)

Allah (swt) is speaking about the people whose hearts are sealed in the above ayaat
Not every kaafir’s heart is sealed
You cannot give dawah to people who you suspect that their hearts are sealed
The following verse is the Quranic hujjah:

Those who disbelieve from among the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) and among Al-Mushrikun, were not going to leave (their disbelief) until there came to them clear evidence. (Al-Baiyinah 98:1)

Allah (swt) is telling you that these people will not leave kufr
Until you establish the clear evidence
Some people are waiting for a Muslim to invite them to Islam
It is easy to tell whose heart is sealed because they are argumentative
They refuse to accept the evidence
Give the admonition only if it benefits the person
Quranic hujjah is in 87:9

Therefore remind (men) in case the reminder profits (them). (Al-A'la 87:9)

You are throwing away silver and gold to swine
By giving dawah to the person whose heart is sealed
These people are worthless

AYAH 194

Verily, those whom you call upon besides Allah are slaves like you. So call upon them and let them answer you if you are truthful. (Al-A'raf 7:194)

These false deities you call upon, human or statue,
Allah (swt) says they cannot answer your request
Quranic hujjah is in 22:73-74

O mankind! A similitude has been coined, so listen to it (carefully) : Verily! Those on whom you call besides Allah, cannot create (even) a fly, even though they combine together for the purpose. And if the fly snatched away a thing from them, they would have no power to release it from the fly. So weak are (both) the seeker and the sought. (Al-Hajj 22:73)

They have not estimated Allah His Rightful Estimate; Verily, Allah is All-Strong, All-Mighty. (Al-Hajj 22:74)

Another Quranic verse may come to mind, 35:14

If you invoke (or call upon) them, they hear not your call, and if (in case) they were to hear, they could not grant it (your request) to you. And on the Day of Resurrection, they will disown your worshipping them. And none can inform you (O Muhammad SAW) like Him Who is the All Knower (of each and everything)[]. (Fatir 35:14)

Can the dead man hear? Yes
But when you call upon the dead man and ask him for things,
Allah blocks him from hearing it
The dead hears the footsteps of all the people that attended his janaza
But not duas to them
Asking the dead for something is shirk

When the dead person dies, he can hear the footsteps of people who buried him. And then the good deeds would surround him. So his Salah would come next to his head, his fasting would coming to his right and zakat would come to his left, and the rest of the good deeds would be next to feet. So whenever this person would be attacked from either side, each good deed would protect him. So they would be making a shield that is protecting him.

AYAH 195

Have they feet wherewith they walk? Or have they hands wherewith they hold? Or have they eyes wherewith they see? Or have they ears wherewith they hear? Say (O Muhammad SAW) : "Call your (so-called) partners (of Allah) and then plot against me, and give me no respite! (Al-A'raf 7:195)

Allah is talking about the faculties of seeing and hearing in the above ayah
Allah is saying maybe you gave the statue ears, feet, eyes
But you cannot make them hear, walk or see
Nobody hates Muslims like Jews and Pagans
5:82 is the Quranic hujjah

Verily, you will find the strongest among men in enmity to the believers (Muslims) the Jews and those who are Al-Mushrikun (see V.2:105), and you will find the nearest in love to the believers (Muslims) those who say: "We are Christians." That is because amongst them are priests and monks, and they are not proud. (Al-Ma'idah 5:82)

Expect to see a unity between India and Israel
Because they have the same heart in hatred for the Muslim

Allah is also saying in 7:195 that these idols you worship
May have hands, feet, ears and eyes
But they cannot use them to see, hear, walk etc
So why do you worship something that is lifeless?

He said: "Worship you that which you (yourselves) carve? (As-Saffat 37:95)
While Allah has created you and what you make!" (As-Saffat 37:96)
They said: "Build for him a building (it is said that the building was like a furnace) and throw him into the blazing fire!" (As-Saffat 37:97)
So they plotted a plot against him, but We made them the lowest. (As-Saffat 37:98)

I believe a person who worships idols should be sectioned off as mentally ill
Because he is worshipping a god which he carved out with his own hands
Or buys it with his hard-earned money
And further believes it will answer his request
The scientific community can’t offend people
And so say that they are worshipping idols in the name of their religion
They have to be politically correct

Ibrahim (as) was offended by the people worshipping idols
Pagans hated him so much that they threw him into the fire

In Burma, monks threw Muslim babies in the fire recently
Because of their hatred for the Ummah of Muhammad (saw)

AYAH 196

Verily, my Wali (Protector, Supporter, and Helper, etc.) is Allah Who has revealed the Book (the Qur'an), and He protects (supports and helps) the righteous. (Al-A'raf 7:196)

Allah (swt) has many sunan, and one of them is to protect the righteous
Another sunnah of Allah is to help the believers

Allah is the Wali (Protector or Guardian) of those who believe. He brings them out from darkness into light. But as for those who disbelieve, their Auliya (supporters and helpers) are Taghut [false deities and false leaders, etc.], they bring them out from light into darkness. Those are the dwellers of the Fire, and they will abide therein forever. (Al-Baqarah 2:257)

2:257 is another verse that may come to mine after seeing 7:196
Wali = Protecting friend and helper
Allah (swt) is the Wali of those who believe

Why is it that the Americans, British, German, Israel are helping the Kurds?
PKK was classified as a terrorist organization by the Americans
Now America give the PKK weapons to fight IS
2:257 explains why America gave PKK weapons after classifying them as terrorist
The taghoot are
They are a people that don't use their aql (brain)
They think with their bellies and private parts
What if the infidels launch a campaign against the IS and become destroyed in the process?
They are very shortsighted and narrow minded so have not thought of that
They do not reflect
When a kaafir thinks, he thinks with his belly and private parts
He can't think further than that

Certainly! Allah will admit those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah Islamic Monotheism) and do righteous good deeds, to Gardens under which rivers flow (Paradise), while those who disbelieve enjoy themselves and eat as cattle eat, and the Fire will be their abode. (Muhammad 47:12)

Yatamatta'oon - to indulge in pleasure of the flesh
People in the West don't give a monkey whether their pleasure is haram or halal
On Judgement Day Allah will question you about the pleasures of the flesh

Then, on that Day, you shall be asked about the delight (you indulged in, in this world)! (At-Takathur 102:8)

AYAH 197

And those whom you call upon besides Him (Allah) cannot help you nor can they help themselves." (Al-A'raf 7:197)

Allah put out a challenge in the following Ayah

This is the creation of Allah. So show Me that which those (whom you worship), besides Him have created. Nay, the Zalimun (polytheists, wrongdoers and those who do not believe in the Oneness of Allah) are in plain error. (Luqman 31:11)

What did the false deities do for you? Show Me (Allah)
Man is ungrateful
They did nothing for you so why do you worship them?

AYAH 198

And if you call them to guidance, they hear not and you will see them looking at you, yet they see not. (Al-A'raf 7:198)

If you call them for guidance, they will not listen to you
This Ayah is similar to the following ayah

Had Allah known of any good in them, He would indeed have made them listen, and even if He had made them listen, they would but have turned away, averse (to the truth). (Al-Anfal 8:23)

These people don’t want the truth because they are addicted to their evil desires

When it is said to them: "Follow what Allah has sent down." They say: "Nay! We shall follow what we found our fathers following." (Would they do that!) Even though their fathers did not understand anything nor were they guided? (Al-Baqarah 2:170)

They are loyal to their ritual cultures and to their parents
They are loyal to a fault (loyal to falsehood)
Some people are sincere, but they are sincerely wrong
Because they are loyal to a fault

AYAH 199

Show forgiveness, enjoin what is good, and turn away from the foolish (i.e. don't punish them). (Al-A'raf 7:199)

Allah (swt) is telling people that you have to be forgiving
This ayah was revealed before the ayah of Jihad was revealed
Allah here is talking about the kuffaar of Makkah
Because surah Al ‘Araf was revealed in Makkah
When Allah said "show forgiveness to them" He was speaking about the kuffaar of Quraish
This ayah is similar to the following ayah

And the slaves of the Most Beneficent (Allah) are those who walk on the earth in humility and sedateness, and when the foolish address them (with bad words) they reply back with mild words of gentleness. (Al-Furqan 25:63)

The ignoramous has no knowledge, so how can you debate with him

3:31, 59:7 can be used to debate people who don't believe in hadith

Say (O Muhammad SAW to mankind) : "If you (really) love Allah then follow me (i.e. accept Islamic Monotheism, follow the Qur'an and the Sunnah), Allah will love you and forgive you of your sins. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful." (Aali Imran 3:31)

What Allah gave as booty (Fai') to His Messenger (Muhammad SAW) from the people of the townships, - it is for Allah, His Messenger (Muhammad SAW), the kindred (of Messenger Muhammad SAW), the orphans, AlMasakin (the poor), and the wayfarer, in order that it may not become a fortune used by the rich among you. And whatsoever the Messenger (Muhammad SAW) gives you, take it, and whatsoever he forbids you, abstain (from it), and fear Allah. Verily, Allah is Severe in punishment. (Al-Hashr 59:7)

An ignorant person will become very nasty when losing a debate
I debated a Christian on ‘Is Jesus God’
When the cameras began to roll, the Bishop spoke about an unrelated topic "Ayisha consummating marriage at 9"

He will never stick to the topic
When they debate, they debate very dirty
Because of that Allah said we should stay away from the ignoramous
If the ignoramous wants to correct you, he corrects you publically to disgrace you
Scholars come to the room, if I make a mistake they send me a private pm

“Seek me while alone if you wish to advice me. And spare me from public recommendations. For public admonitions are a kind of criticism that is not to my persuasion. So if you disobey me and defy my words. Don't be surprised if you meet the same equation.” [Diwan ash-Shafi'i]

Ibn 'Abbas (RA) reported: 'Uyainah bin Hisn came to Al-Madinah and stayed with his nephew Hurr bin Qais who was among those whom Umar (RA) showed favour to. The knowledgeable people (Qurra'), whether they were old or young, had the privilege of joining Umar's council and he used to consult them. 'Uyainah said to Hurr: "My nephew, the Leader of the Believers shows favour to you. Will you obtain permission for me to sit with him?" Hurr asked 'Umar and he accorded permission. When 'Uyainah came into the presence of 'Umar, he addressed him thus: "O son of Khattab, you neither bestow much on us nor deal with us justly." 'Umar (RA) got angry and was about to beat him up when Hurr said: "O Leader of the Believers, Allah said to His Prophet (SAW): ' Show forgiveness, enjoin what is good, and turn away from the foolish (i.e., don't punish them).' (7:199) This one is from the ignorants." When Hurr recited this, 'Umar became quite motionless in his seat. He always adhered strictly to the Book of Allah.' [Sahih Bukhari (6/60) No. 4642]

Muhammad (SAW) is no more than a Messenger, and indeed (many) Messengers have passed away before him. If he dies or is killed, will you then turn back on your heels (as disbelievers)? And he who turns back on his heels, not the least harm will he do to Allah, and Allah will give reward to those who are grateful. (Aali Imran 3:144)

This Ayah made Omar (ra) motionless and calm after the Prophet (saw) died
Abu Bakr (ra) used the above verse on Omar to make him calm
Omar always adhered strictly to the word of Allah (swt)
That is the difference between a believer and a munafiq

Narrated by ‘Aishah that the Prophet said: “The most despicable person to Allah is one who is harshly argumentative." [al-Bukhari (2457) and Muslim (2668)]

Abu Umamah Al-Bahili (RA) reported: Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, "I guarantee a house in Jannah for one who gives up arguing, even if he is in the right; and I guarantee a home in the middle of Jannah for one who abandons lying even for the sake of fun; and I guarantee a house in the highest part of Jannah for one who has good manners." [Sunan Abu Dawud (4/253) No. 4800]

The hadith prove that you should not argue

AYAH 200

And if an evil whisper comes to you from Shaitan (Satan) then seek refuge with Allah. Verily, He is All-Hearer, All-Knower. (Al-A'raf 7:200)

Whenever an evil thought should come to you, it is from the shaytan
You should seek refuge with Allah from the shaytan
Shaytan wants you to be confused about your spirituality, your identity
Am I Muslim 1st or American?
He wants you to be confused about your sexuality
Am I straight or gay?
He wants you to be confused about your religiosity
Am I sunni or shia?
Am I salafi jihadi or Saudi salafi?
When these thoughts come to you, seek refuge with Allah (swt)

From the evil of the whisperer (devil who whispers evil in the hearts of men) who withdraws (from his whispering in one's heart after one remembers Allah), (An-Nas 114:4)

The only correct aqeeda is the aqeeda of salafi jihadi
A saudi salafi only supports KSA
Salafi jihadi supports hijrah, jihad, shariah, khilafah
Practices kufr bit taghut and al walaa wal baraa
A saudi salafi doesn't believe in any of these things
He loves and hates for the sake of the dollar, the pound or the euro
He cannot love and hate for the sake of Allah

The son of the King of KSA opened a Shia shrine in Saudi
They put Yaa Hussain on the masjid
How can you be the son of the king and open a temple like that?
They are trying to be close to the Shia because they are terrified of the Islamic State
They think they can use their shia citizens to fight the IS
Why? Because the enemy of my enemy is my friend
This is the calculation of the Saudi regime
Opening up a temple for the Shia with Yaa Hussain on it is shirk

When you heard the son of the king opened a temple and it had Yaa Hussain on top of it in Saudi, the following ayah should be going through your mind

She said: "Verily! Kings, when they enter a town (country), they despoil it, and make the most honourable amongst its people low. And thus they do. (An-Naml 27:34)

The Saudi Salafi said Bilquis said that, so they support the king
"Kings, whenever they enter a land they corrupt it"
But the ayah said "And thus they do" which was said by Allah (swt)
The same verse refutes the Saudi Salafi
They only use half of the ayah and shove under the carpet the other half

It is worthy of mentioning
That there are shayaateen from the humans and shayaateen from the Jinn
The evidence that we have human shaytan is in the following hadith:

Abu Sa’eed al-Khudri (RA) who said: I heard the Prophet (SAW) say: "If while you are praying, somebody intends to pass in front of you, prevent him; and should he insist, prevent him again; and if he insists again, then let him fight him, for he is a devil.” [al-Bukhari (3274) and Muslim (505)]

The above hadith proves to you that you can call the human being the shaytan

And when they meet those who believe, they say: "We believe," but when they are alone with their Shayatin (devils - polytheists, hypocrites, etc.), they say: "Truly, we are with you; verily, we were but mocking." (Al-Baqarah 2:14)

And so We have appointed for every Prophet enemies - Shayatin (devils) among mankind and jinns, inspiring one another with adorned speech as a delusion (or by way of deception). If your Lord had so willed, they would not have done it, so leave them alone with their fabrications. (Tafseer Qurtubi, Vol.7, Page 67) (Al-An'am 6:112)

These are our many evidences to prove that a human being can be a shaytan

Allah said when you hear a person whispering evil thought to you, seek refuge.
Don’t think it's only the was wasa from the shaytan,
Allah is talking about every evil whisperer

1. From Evil Whispering - from iblis or humans

And if an evil whisper comes to you from Shaitan (Satan) then seek refuge with Allah. Verily, He is All-Hearer, All-Knower. (Al-A'raf 7:200)

2. Before We Recite The Quran

So when you want to recite the Qur'an, seek refuge with Allah from Shaitan (Satan), the outcast (the cursed one). (An-Nahl 16:98)

3. When You Hear The Braying Of The Donkey

Abu Hurairah (RA) narrated that the Prophet (SAW) said: 'When you hear a rooster crowing, then ask Allah for His bounties, for it has seen an angel, and when you hear a donkey braying, then seek refuge in Allah from Shaitan, for it has seen a Shaitan' [Sahih al-Bukhari, Muslim, Ahmad, Sahih al-Jami #611]

4. When You Become Angry

Narrated By Sulaiman bin Surd: While I was sitting in the company of the Prophet, two men abused each other and the face of one of them became red with anger, and his jugular veins swelled (i.e. he became furious). On that the Prophet said, "I know a word, the saying of which will cause him to relax, if he does say it. If he says: 'I seek Refuge with Allah from Satan.' then all is anger will go away." Somebody said to him, "The Prophet has said, 'Seek refuge with Allah from Satan."' The angry man said, "Am I mad?" [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 4, Book 54, Hadith #502]

5. Upon Seeing A Black Dog

and he said, ‘The black dog is a shaytan (devil).’” [Sahih Muslim (1/365) No. 510, Sunan Abu Dawud (1/187) No. 702, Sunan al-Nasa'i (2/63) No. 750, Sunan Tirmidhi (2/161) No. 338, Sunan Ibn Majah (2/102) No. 952, Musnad Ahmad (5/155) No. 21415]

6. Before Entering The Toilet

When you enter the toilet, enter with your left foot and say: “Bismillah Allahumma inni a’uthu bika min al-kubthi wal-khabaa´ith.” Meaning: I begin with the Name of Allah, O Allah, I seek refuge in you from the male and female Devils. (Bukhari #142 & Muslim #375)

If you think I left a point out for seeking refuge with Allah, I welcome your point
However, the dars is closed for today
