  • Kashf Ush-Shubuhaat means to expose and refute the doubts put forward by the Mushrikeen (polytheists).
  • Shubuhaat is the plural word for Shubha.
  • Shubha means an argument that is false but resembles it to the truth.
  • An example of a Shubha is like when the popular news channels report ‘fake news’.
  • The danger of this Shubha leads to the layman on the street believing what is reported because he doesn't know any better.
  • This same situation applies in our Ummah where we have people spreading fake creed and fake aqeedah.
  • The people who push this falsehood present it with eloquent speech.
  • The laymen isn't trained with his mind, heart and ears to identify this Shubha.
  • This is why it is called Shubha because the common folk can't identify the falsehood.
  • This results in the wicked scholars misleading millions of Muslims with their shubuhaat.
  • Those who preach Shubuhaat are preaching kufr, shirk and Zandaqa (heresy).

Muhammad ibn Abdul Wahhab (RH)


  • He was born 1703 and died in 1792.
  • Due to this book, the wicked scholars slander his name, just as they slandered Ibn Taymiyyah (RH).
  • They tried to accuse him of working with British agents.
  • However, this is easily refuted because the British weren't in the Arabian Peninsula while he was alive.
  • He died before they arrived.
  • Therefore, Mushrikeen and the Murtaddeen (apostates) will always slander your name whenever you speak the truth because they can't win a debate.
  • The Shubuhaat presented are connected to shirk.
  • Also, the refutation of these Shubuhaat is to expose the erroneous doctrine of the Mushrikeen.


HADITH


Ibn 'Abbas (RA) said: "Between Nooh (AS) and Adam (AS) were ten generations, all of them were upon Sharee'ah (law) of the truth, then they differed. So Allahﷻ sent prophets as bringers of good news and as warners."
[Related by Ibn Jareer at-Tabaree in his tafseer (4/275) No. 4048 and al-Haakim (2/596) No. 4009 who said: "It is authentic according to the criterion of al-Bukhari." Adh-Dhahabi also agreed]


  • The first people to worship idols were the people of Nooh(AS).  
  • Allahﷻ mentioned these idols by name.
  • The idols they worshipped were Wadd, Suwaa, Yaghuth, Ya'ook and Nasr.

Allahﷻ said in Surah Nooh 71:23


وَقَالُوا لَا تَذَرُنَّ آلِهَتَكُمْ وَلَا تَذَرُنَّ وَدًّا وَلَا سُوَاعًا وَلَا يَغُوثَ وَيَعُوقَ وَنَسْرًا
And said, 'Never leave your gods and never leave Wadd or Suwa' or Yaghuth and Ya'uq and Nasr. (Nuh 71:23)

  • Allahﷻ sent the Prophet ﷺ to conquer Makkah, to smash all the idols that were in the Ka’bah and to return the people back to proper Tawheed (monotheism).
  • This is clear evidence that if you leave people alone, they will go astray.
  • That's why it is important to have scholars reminding you about tawheed so that people will not go astray.
  • People naturally forget so dawah (propagation) needs to be continuous.
  • Abraham (AS) and Ismael (AS) built the Ka’bah to remind the Arabs to worship Allahﷻ alone.
  • When Abraham (AS) and Ismael (AS) died, the Arabs abandoned tawheed and began to worship idols.

Grave worshippers


  • Grave worshippers state that they worship Allahﷻ.
  • They claim that the graves being worshipped are intermediators between them and Allahﷻ.
  • Also, they claim to use them for Taqarrub (to draw near) to Allahﷻ by asking the graves to intercede for them.
  • Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahhab (RH) said that the Mushrikeen use certain arguments to convince the layman that these forms of worship are halal and not shirk.  These arguments are called shubuhaat, which is a falsehood that resembles the truth because they paint this Kufr with a beautiful and flowery language.
  • To the extent, that they use Quranic Ayat (verses) to try to convince the follower.
  • The Mushrik was able to use Quranic Ayat (verses) by putting a spin to its meaning.  
  • For example, the people who claim that ‘Allahﷻ is everywhere’ use the Ayah where Allahﷻ says that ‘Heﷻ is closer to us than our jugular vein’.

Allahﷻ said in Surah Qaf 50:16


وَنَحْنُ أَقْرَبُ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ حَبْلِ الْوَرِيدِ
and We are closer to him than [his] jugular vein.
(Qaf 50:16)

  • Therefore, because the laymen doesn't understand the explanation of the ayah, he becomes convinced.
  • However, this ayah means that Allah'sﷻ knowledge is everywhere, not Allahﷻ Himself.
  • Allahﷻ isn't everywhere in person because some places are unholy and filthy.
  • This is an example of a Shubha (dubiosity), falsehood that resembles the truth, used by the Mushrik to deceive unsuspecting Muslims.
  • When the Mushrikeen came into Islam, they came from Hinduism, Buddhism, Zoroastrianism background where they were worshiping idols and things they could see.
  • Therefore, the Ulema (scholars) said these people worship the graves because they find it difficult to worship something they cannot see.

Allahﷻ said in Surah Yusef 12:106


وَمَا يُؤْمِنُ أَكْثَرُهُم بِاللهِ إِلَّا وَهُم مُّشْرِكُونَ
And most of them believe not in Allah except that they attribute partners unto Him [i.e. they are Mushrikun -polytheists see Verse 6: 121]. (Yusuf 12:106)

HADITH


The Last Hour will not come before the tribes of my people attach themselves to the polytheists and tribes of my people worship idols. There will be among my people thirty great liars each of them asserting that he is (Allah's) prophet, whereas I am the Seal of the Prophets after whom (me) there will be no prophet; and a section of my people will continue to hold to the truth (will continue to dominate) and will not be injured by those who oppose them, till Allah'sﷻ command comes."
[Abu Dawud, Book 30, Hadith #4239]

The Mushrikeen of the Ummah:


  1. Sufi
  2. Shia
  3. Bareilvi
  4. Democrats
    • Democrats are not contributed by Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahhab (RH) because he died in 1792.  Democracy wasn't a fitna in the Ummah in his time. It became a fitnah in the 1970's but rather mentioned by me because democrats legislate when Allahﷻ is the only Legislator.


  • When the Prophetﷺ was in Makkah, he was filled with zeal and enthusiasm to give everyone the Shahada.
  • The majority of Muslims who claim to be believers are ascribing partners to Allahﷻ.
  • Don’t follow the majority because Allahﷻ cursed the majority in the Quran.

Allahﷻ said in Surah Yusef 12:103


وَمَا أَكْثَرُ النَّاسِ وَلَوْ حَرَصْتَ بِمُؤْمِنِين
And most of mankind will not believe even if you desire it eagerly. (Yusuf 12:103)


Allahﷻ also said in Surah Yusef 12:106


وَمَا يُؤْمِنُ أَكْثَرُهُم بِاللهِ إِلَّا وَهُم مُّشْرِكُونَ
And most of them believe not in Allah except that they attribute partners unto Him [i.e. they are Mushrikun -polytheists see Verse 6: 121]. (Yusuf 12:106)

SHUBHA (DUBIOUS ARGUMENT) #1


WHOEVER AFFIRMS TAWHEED AR-RUBUBIYYAH, THAT ALLAHﷻ IS THE ONLY CREATOR AND SUSTAINER, THEN HE IS A MUSLIM.  


REFUTATION TO SHUBHA# 1


  • These people didn't affirm Tawheed Ibaadah, that Allahﷻ alone deserves to be worshipped because they worship the grave.
  • They only acknowledge Tawheed Ar-Rububiyyah.
  • However, Tawheed Ar-Rububiyyah is not sufficient enough to make a person a Muslim because the pagan Arabs in Quraysh affirmed Tawheed Ar-Rububiyyah also.  

Allahﷻ said in Surah Luqman 31:25


وَلَئِن سَأَلْتَهُم مَّنْ خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ لَيَقُولُنَّ اللهُ قُلِ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ بَلْ أَكْثَرُهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ
And if you (O Muhammad SAW) ask them: "Who has created the heavens and the earth,"they will certainly say: "Allah." Say: "All the praises and thanks be to Allah!" But most of them know not. (Luqman 31:25)

  • The guilt of the pagan Arabs is that they didn't affirm Tawheed Ibaadah.
  • They gave their ibaadah (worship) to the idols even though they acknowledged Allahﷻ.
  • The Prophetﷺ fought against the Arabs in 27 battles because of Tawheed Ibaadah.
  • There are 4 branches of Tawheed. Neglecting or disbelieving in one of them makes you a kaffir.


HADITH


Allah’s Messengerﷺ declared:
I have been directed to fight against people so long as they do not say: There is no god but Allahﷻ, and he who professed it was granted full protection of his property and life on my behalf except for a right? His (other) affairs rest with Allahﷻ. Upon this Abu Bakr (RA) said: By Allahﷻ, I would definitely fight against him who severed prayer from Zakat, for it is the obligation upon the rich. By Allahﷻ, I would fight against them even to secure the cord (used for hobbling the feet of a camel) which they used to give to the Allah’s Messengerﷺ (as Zakat) but now they have withheld it. Umar b. Khattab (RA) remarked: By Allahﷻ, I found nothing but the fact that Allahﷻ had opened the heart of Abu Bakr(RA) for (perceiving the justification of) fighting (against those who refused to pay Zakat) and I fully recognized that the (stand of Abu Bakr(RA)) was right.
[Sahih Muslim, Book 1, Hadith #0029]


  • The grave worshippers are guilty of marginalizing Tawheed to one branch (Ar-Rububiyyah).
  • With this logic, they also made the shaytan a Muslim because the shaytan acknowledges Tawheed Ar-Rububiyyah.

Allahﷻ said in Surah Al-Hijr 15:36


قَالَ رَبِّ فَأَنظِرْنِي إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ
[Iblis (Satan)] said: "O my Lord! Give me then respite till the Day they (the dead) will be resurrected." (Al-Hijr 15:36)

  • The ‘Goofy’ Sufi and grave worshippers have made the Shaytan their brother in religion with their dodgy Aqeedah.
  • The shaytan is not the brother of Ahlus-Sunnah or the Muwahhideen.
  • Muwahid means a person who is on proper tawheed.

SHUBHA (DUBIOUS ARGUMENT) #2


  • THE AYAHS YOU ARE QUOTING TO CONDEMN US WERE REVEALED FOR THE PAGANS OF MAKKAH WHO WERE MUSHRIKEEN. WE ARE NOT OF THE MUSHRIKEEN, WE ARE MUSLIMS. YOU CANNOT COMPARE THE RIGHTEOUS PEOPLE THAT WE PRAY IN THE GRAVES TO THE IDOLS INSIDE THE KA’BAH.


REFUTATION TO SHUBHA# 2


  • The grave is also an idol.


HADITH


Allah’s Messengerﷺ said:
"O Allahﷻ! Do not make my grave an idol that is worshipped. The anger on those who took the graves of their Prophets as places of prostration was terrible."
[Muwatta Malik (1/223) No. 570, Musannaf Abdur Razzaq (1/406) No. 1587, Musnad Ahmad (2/246) No. 7352]


  • Therefore, because you are not aware of the above Hadith, there is no difference between a Buddhist who prays to Buddha and a Sufi, Barelvi, and Shia who prays to the grave.
  • Before the Sufi, Barelvi and Shia, Christians had the same ritual. They were praying to Jesus (AS) claiming that they were drawing nearer to Allahﷻ through this worship.

Allahﷻ said in Surah Al-Ma’idah 5:116


وَإِذْ قَالَ اللهُ يَا عِيسَى ابْنَ مَرْيَمَ أَأَنتَ قُلْتَ لِلنَّاسِ اتَّخِذُونِي وَأُمِّيَ إِلَٰهَيْنِ مِن دُونِ اللهِ قَالَ سُبْحَانَكَ مَا يَكُونُ لِي أَنْ أَقُولَ مَا لَيْسَ لِي بِحَقٍّ إِن كُنتُ قُلْتُهُ فَقَدْ عَلِمْتَهُ تَعْلَمُ مَا فِي نَفْسِي وَلَا أَعْلَمُ مَا فِي نَفْسِكَ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ عَلَّامُ الْغُيُوبِ
And (remember) when Allah will say (on the Day of Resurrection) : "O 'Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary)! Did you say unto men: 'Worship me and my mother as two gods besides Allah?' " He will say: "Glory be to You! It was not for me to say what I had no right (to say). Had I said such a thing, You would surely have known it. You know what is in my inner self though I do not know what is in Yours, truly, You, only You, are the All Knower of all that is hidden and unseen. (Al-Ma'idah 5:116)


  • The Christians pray to Jesus(AS) and they pray to Muhammadﷺ. Therefore, we make takfir on the Christians because of this worship, so we have to make takfir on the Sufi, Barelvi and Shia.
  • They are the Christians in the Ummah.

Allahﷻ said in Surah Al-Ma’idah 5:72-73


لَقَدْ كَفَرَ الَّذِينَ قَالُوا إِنَّ اللهَ هُوَ الْمَسِيحُ ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ وَقَالَ الْمَسِيحُ يَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ اعْبُدُوا اللهَ رَبِّي وَرَبَّكُمْ إِنَّهُ مَن يُشْرِكْ بِاللهِ فَقَدْ حَرَّمَ اللهُ عَلَيْهِ الْجَنَّةَ وَمَأْوَاهُ النَّارُ وَمَا لِلظَّالِمِينَ مِنْ أَنصَارٍ
Surely, they have disbelieved who say: "Allah is the Messiah ['Iesa (Jesus)], son of Maryam (Mary)." But the Messiah ['Iesa (Jesus)] said: "O Children of Israel! Worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord." Verily, whosoever sets up partners in worship with Allah, then Allah has forbidden Paradise for him, and the Fire will be his abode. And for the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong­doers) there are no helpers.


لَّقَدْ كَفَرَ الَّذِينَ قَالُوا إِنَّ اللهَ ثَالِثُ ثَلَاثَةٍ وَمَا مِنْ إِلَٰهٍ إِلَّا إِلَٰهٌ وَاحِدٌ وَإِن لَّمْ يَنتَهُوا عَمَّا يَقُولُونَ لَيَمَسَّنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِنْهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ
Surely, disbelievers are those who said: "Allah is the third of the three (in a Trinity)." But there is no ilah (god) (none who has the right to be worshipped) but One Ilah (God -Allah). And if they cease not from what they say, verily, a painful torment will befall the disbelievers among them. (Al-Ma'idah 5:72-73)

  • Therefore, this is the peak of hypocrisy of takfeer if not made on the Sufi, Shia and Bareilvi.

SHUBHA (DUBIOUS ARGUMENT) #3


SEEKING THE INTERCESSION OF THESE RIGHTEOUS PEOPLE IS NOT SHIRK BECAUSE PRAYING TO THE DEAD IS NOT SHIRK.


REFUTATION TO SHUBHA# 3


  • Allahﷻ has made takfeer on people like this in the Quran.
  • Allahﷻ is a takfeeri and making takfeer is halal (permissible).
  • A person is not allowed to become a Khawarij. A Khawarij makes takfeer on people on any sin made. The Khawarij is the dog of Jahannam.
  • For example, if a Muslim drinks alcohol or commits zina, takfeer can't be made on this person because these sins are minor Kufr and not major.
  • Allahﷻ has made takfeer on people who beseech the dead and ask their intercession for rain, children, health and wealth.
  • Not only did Allahﷻ make takfir on these people, but Heﷻ also dismissed them as liars and kafirs.

Allahﷻ said in Surah Az-Zumar 39:3


أَلَا لِلَّهِ الدِّينُ الْخَالِصُ وَالَّذِينَ اتَّخَذُوا مِن دُونِهِ أَوْلِيَاءَ مَا نَعْبُدُهُمْ إِلَّا لِيُقَرِّبُونَا إِلَى اللهِ زُلْفَىٰ إِنَّ اللهَ يَحْكُمُ بَيْنَهُمْ فِي مَا هُمْ فِيهِ يَخْتَلِفُونَ إِنَّ اللهَ لَا يَهْدِي مَنْ هُوَ كَاذِبٌ كَفَّارٌ
Surely, the religion (i.e. the worship and the obedience) is for Allah only. And those who take Auliya' (protectors and helpers) besides Him (say) : "We worship them only that they may bring us near to Allah." Verily, Allah will judge between them concerning that wherein they differ. Truly, Allah guides not him who is a liar, and a disbeliever. (Az-Zumar 39:3)

  • Their argument is that they can't ask Allahﷻ directly because they are too evil and not worthy.  They think they have to go through Muhammadﷺ to draw nearer to Allahﷻ.
  • Secondly, they say they pray to the grave for Shafa'ah (intercession).
  • However, Muhammadﷺ departed from the dunya leaving instructions on how to gain his shafa'ah.


HADITH


Narrated Jabir bin `Abdullah(RA): Allah's Messengerﷺ said:
"Whoever, after listening to the Adhan (for the prayer) says, 'O Allahﷻ, the Lord of this complete call and of this prayer, which is going to be established! Give Muhammadﷺ Al-Wasila and Al-Fadila
and raise him to Al-Maqam-al-Mahmud which You have promised him,' will be granted my intercession for him on the Day of Resurrection. BUKHARI : Vol. 6, Book 60, Hadith 243


  • Allahﷻ said Heﷻ won't grant intercession to everyone.
  • No intercession can take place without the permission of Allahﷻ.

Allahﷻ said in Surah Al-Baqarah 2:255


مَن ذَا الَّذِي يَشْفَعُ عِندَهُ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِهِ
Who is he that can intercede with Him except with His Permission? (Al-Baqarah 2:255)

  • Also, Allahﷻ will not allow a pious person intercede with a man unless Allahﷻ is pleased with that man.

Allahﷻ said in Surah Al-Anbiya 21:28


يَعْلَمُ مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَمَا خَلْفَهُمْ وَلَا يَشْفَعُونَ إِلَّا لِمَنِ ارْتَضَىٰ وَهُم مِّنْ خَشْيَتِهِ مُشْفِقُونَ
He knows what is before them, and what is behind them, and they cannot intercede except for him with whom He is pleased. And they stand in awe for fear of Him. (Al-Anbiya 21:28)

QUESTION


WHAT MAKES A GRAVE WORSHIPPER THINK THEY ARE QUALIFIED TO RECEIVE THE INTERCESSION BY ALLAHﷻ?


  • Allahﷻ is not pleased with a grave worshipper because Allahﷻ has already labeled you as liars and Kaffirs.
  • For example, if you miscarry a baby, you shouldn't be sad. The baby will intercede for you on the Day Of Judgement.
  • Also, the angels, prophets, pious Muslims, shuhadah (martyrs) will intercede for family members who used to pray.
  • For some people, no intercession can be of benefit to them on the Day of Judgement.

Allahﷻ said in Surah Al-Muddathir 74:42-48


مَا سَلَكَكُمْ فِي سَقَرَ
"What has caused you to enter Hell?"


قَالُوا لَمْ نَكُ مِنَ الْمُصَلِّينَ
They will say: "We were not of those who used to offer
their Salat (prayers).


وَلَمْ نَكُ نُطْعِمُ الْمِسْكِينَ
"Nor we used to feed Al-Miskin (the poor);


وَكُنَّا نَخُوضُ مَعَ الْخَائِضِينَ
"And we used to talk falsehood (all that which Allah hated)
with vain talkers.


وَكُنَّا نُكَذِّبُ بِيَوْمِ الدِّينِ
"And we used to belie the Day of Recompense.


حَتَّىٰ أَتَانَا الْيَقِينُ
"Until there came to us (the death) that is certain."


فَمَا تَنفَعُهُمْ شَفَاعَةُ الشَّافِعِينَ
So no intercession of intercessors will be of any use to them. (Al-Muddaththir 74:42-48)

  • Saqar is a place in Hell that a person can’t get out.
  • Kaffirs like Nimrod, the Pharaoh and Abu Jahl will be in Saqar.
  • The above ayah is also hujjah (evidence) that a person can end up in Saqar for engaging in BS talk.

SHUBHA (DUBIOUS ARGUMENT) #4


I WORSHIP NONE EXCEPT ALLAHﷻ. CALLING UPON THESE RIGHTEOUS PEOPLE IS NOT SHIRK. SO DON’T CALL ME A MUSHRIK BECAUSE I HAVE RECITED MY SHAHADA.


REFUTATION TO SHUBHA# 4


  • Allahﷻ mentioned in the Quran that when you pray to the graves, you are worshipping them.
  • When the grave is worshipped, you become a Mushrik outside the fold of Islam.
  • The Quran will be used to checkmate their ideology because the Quran is the best of speech.


HADITH


Allah’s Messengerﷺ said in the Jumu’ah khutbah:
"...To proceed. The best of the speech is embodied in the Book of Allahﷻ, and the best of the guidance is the guidance given by Muhammadﷺ. And the most evil affairs are their innovations; and every innovation is error..."
[Sahih Muslim (2/592) No. 867]

Allahﷻ said in Surah Al-Fatir 35:14


إِن تَدْعُوهُمْ لَا يَسْمَعُوا دُعَاءَكُمْ وَلَوْ سَمِعُوا مَا اسْتَجَابُوا لَكُمْ وَيَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ يَكْفُرُونَ بِشِرْكِكُمْ وَلَا يُنَبِّئُكَ مِثْلُ خَبِيرٍ
If you invoke (or call upon) them, they hear not your call, and if (in case) they were to hear, they could not grant it (your request) to you. And on the Day of Resurrection, they will disown your worshipping them. And none can inform you (O Muhammad SAW) like Him Who is the All Knower (of each and everything)[]. (Fatir 35:14)

  • This ayah is hujjah that when you call on the inhabitants of the grave, you are worshipping them and this makes you a pagan.


HADITH


Allah’s Messengerﷺ said:

QUESTION


CAN THE DEAD HEAR?


  • The answer is yes.
  • However, Allahﷻ blocks their hearing from kufr and shirk out of mercy for them.
  • This is the reference used when Allahﷻ said in the above ayah about not hearing, but the dead can hear other things.
  • The life in the grave is called the Barzakh.
  • For example, when the dead is buried, they can hear the footsteps of all that come to the Janaaza (funeral).


HADITH


“When an individual is placed in his grave and his companions return and he even hears their footsteps, two angels come to him, make him sit and ask:“What did you use to say regarding this man (i.e. Muhammadﷺ)? The believer will say: “I bear testimony that he is the servant and Allah’s Messengerﷺ” It will be said to him:“Look at your place in the fire of Hell, Allahﷻ has changed instead of it a place for you in Paradise” So he will see both of his places…
(Sahih al-Bukhari, no.1308 & Sahih Muslim, no. 2870)


  • Another example of the dead hearing is when the 2 angels (Munkar & Nakeer) question the dead. If the dead couldn't hear, there wouldn't be a need to question them.


Allahﷻ said in Surah Yunus 10:18


وَيَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ اللهِ مَا لَا يَضُرُّهُمْ وَلَا يَنفَعُهُمْ وَيَقُولُونَ هَٰؤُلَاءِ شُفَعَاؤُنَا عِندَ اللهِ قُلْ أَتُنَبِّئُونَ اللهَ بِمَا لَا يَعْلَمُ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَلَا فِي الْأَرْضِ سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ
And they worship besides Allah things that hurt them not, nor profit them, and they say: "These are our intercessors with Allah." Say: "Do you inform Allah of that which He knows not in the heavens and on the earth?" Glorified and Exalted be He above all that which they associate as partners with Him! (Yunus 10:18)

SHUBHA (DUBIOUS ARGUMENT) #5


WHOEVER REJECTS THE SEEKING OF INTERCESSION FROM MUHAMMADﷺ OR THE RIGHTEOUS PEOPLE IS GUILTY OF REJECTING THE INTERCESSION AND IS SEEKING TO BELITTLE THE STATUS OF THE AWLIYA.


REFUTATION TO SHUBHA# 5


  • This argument is seeking to blackmail the common folk to make them into grave worshippers.
  • Intercession belongs to Allahﷻ and none can intercede for another person without Hisﷻ permission.
  • Intercession is only for the Muwahideen (monotheist) who committed sins but is on proper tawheed (monotheism).
  • Sins committed are things like drinking alcohol and committing Zina.
  • Intercession is not for the Mushrikeen (polytheist).

Allahﷻ said in Surah At-Tawbah 9:113


مَا كَانَ لِلنَّبِيِّ وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا أَن يَسْتَغْفِرُوا لِلْمُشْرِكِينَ وَلَوْ كَانُوا أُولِي قُرْبَىٰ مِن بَعْدِ مَا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُمْ أَنَّهُمْ أَصْحَابُ الْجَحِيمِ
It is not (proper) for the Prophet and those who believe to ask Allah's Forgiveness for the Mushrikun (polytheists, idolaters, pagans, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah) even though they be of kin, after it has become clear to them that they are the dwellers of the Fire (because they died in a state of disbelief). (At-Tawbah 9:113)

  • On the day of Judgement, the Mushrik will have all his deeds nullified so he will have nothing to bargain with Allahﷻ.
  • The Hadith with the 3 men stuck in the cave who bargained with Allahﷻ using their good deeds they committed is evidence.

Allahﷻ also said in Surah Az-Zumar 39:65


وَلَقَدْ أُوحِيَ إِلَيْكَ وَإِلَى الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِكَ لَئِنْ أَشْرَكْتَ لَيَحْبَطَنَّ عَمَلُكَ وَلَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ
And indeed it has been revealed to you (O Muhammad SAW), as it was to those (Allah's Messengers) before you: "If you join others in worship with Allah, (then) surely (all) your deeds will be in vain, and you will certainly be among the losers." (Az-Zumar 39:65)

  • The Mushrikeen belong to another religion called Shirk.
  • The only religion accepted by Allahﷻ is Islam.

Allahﷻ said in Surah Aali-Imran 3:85


وَمَن يَبْتَغِ غَيْرَ الْإِسْلَامِ دِينًا فَلَن يُقْبَلَ مِنْهُ وَهُوَ فِي الْآخِرَةِ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ
And whoever seeks a religion other than Islam, it will never be accepted of him, and in the Hereafter he will be one of the losers. (Aali Imran 3:85)

SHUBHA (DUBIOUS ARGUMENT) #6


THE RASOOLﷺ WAS GIVEN INTERCESSION. THEREFORE IT MUST BE SOUGHT FROM HIM BY PRAYING TO HIM IN THE GRAVE.

  • Refutation for Shubha#5 can be used.
  • Intercession is not for the Mushrikeen.

Allahﷻ said in Surah At-Tawbah 9:113

مَا كَانَ لِلنَّبِيِّ وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا أَن يَسْتَغْفِرُوا لِلْمُشْرِكِينَ وَلَوْ كَانُوا أُولِي قُرْبَىٰ مِن بَعْدِ مَا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُمْ أَنَّهُمْ أَصْحَابُ الْجَحِيمِ
It is not (proper) for the Prophet and those who believe to ask Allah's Forgiveness for the Mushrikun (polytheists, idolaters, pagans, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah) even though they be of kin, after it has become clear to them that they are the dwellers of the Fire (because they died in a state of disbelief). HADITH


Prophetﷺ "You have not been of any avail to your uncle (Abu Talib) (though) by Allahﷻ, he used to protect you and used to become angry on your behalf." The Prophetﷺ said, "He is in a shallow fire, and had It not been for me, he would have been in the bottom of the HellFire."

SHUBHA (DUBIOUS ARGUMENT) #7


SEEKING HELP FROM THE INHABITANTS IN THE GRAVE IS NOT SHIRK BECAUSE IT’S LIKE GOING TO THE DENTIST OR DOCTOR WHEN YOU ARE SICK.


REFUTATION TO SHUBHA# 7


  • When we pray, we recite "Youﷻ alone we worship and Youﷻ alone we ask for help.”

Allahﷻ said in Surah Al-Fatiha 1:5


إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وَإِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِينُ
You (Alone) we worship, and You (Alone) we ask for help (for each and everything). (Al-Fatihah 1:5)

  • Secondly, the doctor can hear you when you go to him with your problem. The inhabitant of the grave can't hear what you're asking for.

Allahﷻ said in Surah Al-Fatir 35:14


إِن تَدْعُوهُمْ لَا يَسْمَعُوا دُعَاءَكُمْ وَلَوْ سَمِعُوا مَا اسْتَجَابُوا لَكُمْ وَيَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ يَكْفُرُونَ بِشِرْكِكُمْ وَلَا يُنَبِّئُكَ مِثْلُ خَبِيرٍ
If you invoke (or call upon) them, they hear not your call, and if (in case) they were to hear, they could not grant it (your request) to you. And on the Day of Resurrection, they will disown your worshipping them. And none can inform you (O Muhammad SAW) like Him Who is the All Knower (of each and everything)[]. (Fatir 35:14)

  • The Qiyas (analogy) used is wrong. You can't compare a living doctor to a dead man.
  • Ahmed Ibn Hanbal (RH) said that most mistakes are made using wrong Qiyas.
  • Thirdly, under the Caliphate of Umar (RA), he suffered a severe drought.  He didn’t go to the grave of Muhammadﷺ to ask for help. He went to the uncle of the Prophetﷺ and asked him to pray to Allahﷻ for rain.


HADITH


Narrated By Anas (RA):
Whenever drought threatened them, 'Umar bin Al-Khattab(RA), used to ask Al-Abbas bin 'Abdul Muttalib(RA) to invoke Allahﷻ for rain. He used to say, "O Allahﷻ! We used to ask our Prophetﷺ to invoke You for rain, and You would bless us with rain, and now we ask his uncle to invoke You for rain. O Allahﷻ ! Bless us with rain." And so it would rain.
[Sahih Bukhari, Vol 2, Book 17, Hadith #123]


  • If it were halal to pray to the grave, Umar (RA) would have done so.  


HADITH


Uthman ibn Haneef (RA) narrated:
"A man who was blind came to the Prophetﷺ and requested him to pray to Allahﷻ that Heﷻ may cure me of my blindness. He said, 'If you wish, but if you be patient, that is better for you.' He said that the Prophetﷺ may pray for him. So, the Prophetﷺ commanded him to make ablution and make it very well and pray in these words, 'O Allahﷻ, I ask you and plead to you through your Prophet Muhammadﷺ, Prophet of mercy, I plead by your virtue O my Lordﷻ, for my need, this one that it be granted to me. O Allahﷻ, accept his intercession for me.'"
[Tirmidhi 3589, Ibn Majah 1385, Ahmed 17240]


  • This Hadith is another example in which many Muslims are blind in the Ummah since the death of the Prophetﷺ. Therefore, none of the Sahaba went to the Prophet’sﷺ grave asking for his eyesight to return.

SHUBHA (DUBIOUS ARGUMENT) #8


SHIRK MEANS TO WORSHIP IDOLS AND WE ARE NOT WORSHIPPING IDOLS WHEN WE PRAY TO MUHAMMADﷺ IN THE GRAVE. HOW DARE YOU COMPARE MUHAMMADﷺ TO AN IDOL!


REFUTATION TO SHUBHA# 8


  • The Prophetﷺ said the grave is an idol.


HADITH


Yahya(RA) related to me from Malik from Zayd ibn Aslam(RA) from Ata ibn Yasar(RA) that the Allah’s Messengerﷺ said:
"O Allahﷻ! Do not make my grave an idol that is worshipped. The anger on those who took the graves of their Prophets as places of prostration was terrible."
[Muwatta Malik (1/223) No. 570, Musannaf Abdur Razzaq (1/406) No. 1587, Musnad Ahmad (2/246) No. 7352]


  • There are 17 shades of shirk. Shirk shouldn't be marginalized to worshipping idols.
  • This is either Jahl (ignorance) about shirk or a liar who is disingenuous.
  • Dua (supplication) is Ibaadah, so there is a shirk of Dua.


HADITH


Nu’man ibn Bashir (RA) narrated the Prophetﷺ said:
“The supplication is itself worship.” Then he recited. And your Lordﷻ says, “Call upon Meﷻ, and Iﷻ shall answer you. Surely those who are too arrogant to worship Meﷻ, they shall enter Hell, disgraced.” (40: 60) [Tirmidhi (5/456) No. 3372, Abu Dawud (2/76) No. 1479, Ibn Majah (5/5) No. 3828, Ahmad (4/271) No. 18410]


  • Making Dua to the grave is worshipping them.
  • Another form of shirk, that makes a person a kafir, is slaughtering an animal in the name of a false deity.

Allahﷻ said in Surah Al-An’am 6:121


وَلَا تَأْكُلُوا مِمَّا لَمْ يُذْكَرِ اسْمُ اللهِ عَلَيْهِ وَإِنَّهُ لَفِسْقٌ وَإِنَّ الشَّيَاطِينَ لَيُوحُونَ إِلَىٰ أَوْلِيَائِهِمْ لِيُجَادِلُوكُمْ وَإِنْ أَطَعْتُمُوهُمْ إِنَّكُمْ لَمُشْرِكُونَ
Eat not (O believers) of that (meat) on which Allah's Name has not been pronounced (at the time of the slaughtering of the animal), for sure it is Fisq (a sin and disobedience of Allah). And certainly, the Shayatin (devils) do inspire their friends (from mankind) to dispute with you, and if you obey them [by making Al-Maytatah (a dead animal) legal by eating it], then you would indeed be Mushrikun (polytheists) [because they (devils and their friends) made lawful to you to eat that which Allah has made unlawful to eat and you obeyed them by considering it lawful to eat, and by doing so you worshipped them, and to worship others besides Allah is polytheism]. (Al-An'am 6:121)

  • Also, to govern by other than what Allahﷻ revealed is shirk.

Allahﷻ said in Surah Al-Ma’idah 5:44


وَمَن لَّمْ يَحْكُم بِمَا أَنزَلَ اللهُ فَأُولَٰئِكَ هُمُ الْكَافِرُونَ
And whoever does not judge by what Allah has revealed then it is those who are the disbelievers. (Al-Ma’idah 5:44)

  • To call Jesus(AS) God, like Christians, is shirk.
  • Also, shirk is believing in the ‘trinity’.

Allahﷻ said in Surah Al-Ma’idah 5:72


لَقَدْ كَفَرَ الَّذِينَ قَالُوا إِنَّ اللهَ هُوَ الْمَسِيحُ ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ وَقَالَ الْمَسِيحُ يَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ اعْبُدُوا اللهَ رَبِّي وَرَبَّكُمْ إِنَّهُ مَن يُشْرِكْ بِاللهِ فَقَدْ حَرَّمَ اللهُ عَلَيْهِ الْجَنَّةَ وَمَأْوَاهُ النَّارُ وَمَا لِلظَّالِمِينَ مِنْ أَنصَارٍ
Surely, they have disbelieved who say: "Allah is the Messiah ['Iesa (Jesus)], son of Maryam (Mary)." But the Messiah ['Iesa (Jesus)] said: "O Children of Israel! Worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord." Verily, whosoever sets up partners in worship with Allah, then Allah has forbidden Paradise for him, and the Fire will be his abode. And for the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong­doers) there are no helpers.


Allahﷻ also said in Surah Al-Ma’idah 5:73


لَّقَدْ كَفَرَ الَّذِينَ قَالُوا إِنَّ اللهَ ثَالِثُ ثَلَاثَةٍ
Surely, disbelievers are those who said: "Allah is the third of the three (in a Trinity)."

  • When Allahﷻ doesn't want good for some people, they remain ignorant of religious matters.


HADITH


Mu'awiyah (RA) reported:
The Allah’s Messengeﷺr said, "When Allahﷻ wishes good for someone, He bestows upon him the understanding of Deen."
(Riyad Us Saliheen: (Bukhari & Muslim) (13/241) Hadith 1376)


  • Another example of shirk is the one who goes to the soothsayer and/or fortune teller because that person believes he has Ilm Ul-Ghayb (knowledge of the unseen).


HADITH


Abu Huraira(RA) reported that the Prophetﷺ said:
“Whoever comes to a fortune-teller and believes him has disbelieved in what was revealed to Muhammadﷺ ”.
[Musnad Ahmad (Vol. 2, pg. 429) No. 9532 and Mustadrak al-Hakim (Vol. 1, pg. 49) No. 15]


  • Making Tawaf (circulation) around the grave is shirk because Tawaf is Ibaadah.


HADITH


Ibn Abbas (RA) reported that the Prophetﷺ said:
“The tawaf round the House is like the salah except that you converse during it (the tawaf). And, he who converses does not do so except with a good word.
[Tirmidhi (3/293) No. 960, al-Bazzar (11/127) No. 4853, Ibn Khuzaymah (4/222) No. 2739, Ibn Hibban (9/143) No. 3836, al-Haakim (1/630) No. 1687]


  • Sufis, Shias and Barelvis marginalized shirk to only worshipping idols because they are guilty of committing all 17 types of shirk.
  • Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahhab(RH) didn't mention democracy, but that is also shirk.
  • Democracy is shirk because they make laws when Allahﷻ is the only Legislator.

SHUBHA (DUBIOUS ARGUMENT) #9


YOU ARE DECLARING US TO BE MUSHRIKEEN AND KUFFAR. YOU GAVE US THE SAME STATUS AS THE KUFFAR OF QURAYSH. HOW DARE YOU SAY THIS WHEN WE RECITE THE SHAHADA, FAST, PRAY, MARRY & EAT HALAL FOOD.


REFUTATION TO SHUBHA# 9


  • Not everyone who says the Shahada is a real Muslim.
  • The hypocrite recites the Shahada.

Allahﷻ said in Surah Al-Munafiqun 63:1


إِذَا جَاءَكَ الْمُنَافِقُونَ قَالُوا نَشْهَدُ إِنَّكَ لَرَسُولُ اللهِ وَاللهُ يَعْلَمُ إِنَّكَ لَرَسُولُهُ وَاللهُ يَشْهَدُ إِنَّ الْمُنَافِقِينَ لَكَاذِبُونَ
When the hypocrites come to you (O Muhammad SAW), they say: "We bear witness that you are indeed the Messenger of Allah." Allah knows that you are indeed His Messenger and Allah bears witness that the hypocrites are liars indeed. (Al-Munafiqun 63:1)


  • Allahﷻ dismissed the Shahada of the Munafiqeen (hypocrite) as a fake shahada.
  • Secondly, the Rasoolﷺ ordered us to follow the Sunnah and the Sunnah of the rightly guided Caliphs (RAA).


HADITH


"I advise you all to fear Allahﷻ and to listen to and obey (your leaders), even if he may be a slave from Habashah; For indeed, whoever from you is alive after I am gone will see many disputes and contradictions. You must therefore, stick to my Sunnah and the Sunnah of the Rightly-Guided Caliphs.
[Related by Aboo Daawood (no. 4607) and by at-Tirmidhi (no. 2676)]


  • Abu Bakr(RA) fought and killed people who recited the Shahada, prayed and fasted but refused to pay the Zakah (compulsory charity).


HADITH


Abu Hurayra(RA) said:
"When the Messenger of Allahﷺ, died and Abu Bakr(RA) was khalifa and those of the Arabs who were going to reject rejected, 'Umar(RA) said, 'How can we fight people when the Allah’s Messengerﷺ said, "I am commanded to fight people until they say, 'There is no god but Allahﷻ.' Whoever says that, his property and life are protected from me, except when there is a legal right to them, and his reckoning is up to Allahﷻ."?' Abu Bakr(RA) said, 'By Allahﷻ, I will fight anyone who makes a distinction between prayer and zakat! Zakat is the right which is due on wealth. By Allahﷻ, if they refuse me a nose rope which they used to pay to the Allah’s Messengerﷺ, I will fight them for refusing it!' 'Umar(RA) said, 'By Allahﷻ, then I realised that Allahﷻ had expanded Abu Bakr's(RA) breast in respect of the decision to fight and I recognised that it was the truth."
[al-Bukhari and Muslim]


ANOTHER HADITH


By Allahﷻ, I found nothing but the fact that Allahﷻ had opened the heart of Abu Bakr for (perceiving the justification of) fighting (against those who refused to pay Zakat) and I fully recognized that the (stand of Abu Bakr(RA) was right.
[Sahih Muslim, Book 1, Hadith #0029]


  • The actions and life history of the Prophetﷺ and the four Caliphs(RAA) indicates that the shahada can be nullified.
  • Therefore, worshipping the grave is worse than not paying the Zakah because it goes against the foundation of Tawheed.
  • There status is no different than the person who dabbles in black magic, but recites the Shahada. This is also major Kufr and ejects you out of the fold of Islam.

Allahﷻ said in Surah Al-Baqarah 2:102


وَاتَّبَعُوا مَا تَتْلُو الشَّيَاطِينُ عَلَىٰ مُلْكِ سُلَيْمَانَ وَمَا كَفَرَ سُلَيْمَانُ وَلَٰكِنَّ الشَّيَاطِينَ كَفَرُوا يُعَلِّمُونَ النَّاسَ السِّحْرَ وَمَا أُنزِلَ عَلَى الْمَلَكَيْنِ بِبَابِلَ هَارُوتَ وَمَارُوتَ وَمَا يُعَلِّمَانِ مِنْ أَحَدٍ حَتَّىٰ يَقُولَا إِنَّمَا نَحْنُ فِتْنَةٌ فَلَا تَكْفُرْ فَيَتَعَلَّمُونَ مِنْهُمَا مَا يُفَرِّقُونَ بِهِ بَيْنَ الْمَرْءِ وَزَوْجِهِ وَمَا هُم بِضَارِّينَ بِهِ مِنْ أَحَدٍ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِ اللهِ وَيَتَعَلَّمُونَ مَا يَضُرُّهُمْ وَلَا يَنفَعُهُمْ وَلَقَدْ عَلِمُوا لَمَنِ اشْتَرَاهُ مَا لَهُ فِي الْآخِرَةِ مِنْ خَلَاقٍ وَلَبِئْسَ مَا شَرَوْا بِهِ أَنفُسَهُمْ لَوْ كَانُوا يَعْلَمُونَ
They followed what the Shayatin (devils) gave out (falsely of the magic) in the lifetime of Sulaiman (Solomon). Sulaiman did not disbelieve, but the Shayatin (devils) disbelieved, teaching men magic and such things that came down at Babylon to the two angels, Harut and Marut, but neither of these two (angels) taught anyone (such things) till they had said, "We are only for trial, so disbelieve not (by learning this magic from us)." And from these (angels) people learn that by which they cause separation between man and his wife, but they could not thus harm anyone except by Allah's Leave. And they learn that which harms them and profits them not. And indeed they knew that the buyers of it (magic) would have no share in the Hereafter. And how bad indeed was that for which they sold their own selves, if they but knew. (Al-Baqarah 2:102)


  • The Zindeeq (heretic) is also a kaffir who recites the Shahada.


HADITH


Abdur-Rahman Ibn Muhammad Ibn Habeeb Ibn Abee Habeeb(RA) on the authority of his father, on the authority of his grandfather [who] said:
I witnessed Khaalid Ibn 'Abdullah Al-Qasree(RA) and he addressed them at Waasit "Oh People, make sacrifice, may Allahﷻ accept it from you. Verily I am sacrificing Al-Ja'd Ibn Dirham, for indeed he claims that Allahﷻ did not take Ibrahim(AS) as a khaleel (close friend), and [that] Heﷻ did not speak to Moosa(AS). Most Perfect is Heﷻ and exalted is Heﷻ from what Al-Ja'd says." Then he descended and slaughtered him. I say: And the Jahmiyyah and Mu'tazilah speak with this, and they distort the text of the revelation regarding that, and they claim that the Lordﷻ is purified of that (i.e. having spoken to Moses(AS) and taken Ibrahim(AS) as a khalil).

ISLAM WAS SAVED ON 4 OCCASIONS:
  1. The day the Rasoolﷺ fought & defeated the Mushrikeen at the Battle of Badr.
  2. The day Abu Bakr(RA) fought and killed the apostates who didn't pay Zakah.
  3. The day Ahmed ibn Hanbal(RH) stood up against the Mu’tazila who claimed the Quran was created.
  4. The day the Egyptians defeated the Tatars at the battle of Ain Jaloot.
  5. Some scholars also say the day Salahudeen(RH) defeated the Crusaders in Jerusalem at the Battle of Sittin 1187 ce.


  • The Grave worshippers didn't live in accordance with the rules of shahada.
  • Rejecting the Taghut is part of the rules of Shahada.
  • The Shahada has 2 parts.
      1. Nafyu (negation)
      2. Ithbaat (affirmation)
  • "There is no God" is the negation and “except Allahﷻ” is affirmation.
  • The problem in the Ummah is that they're taught to believe in Allahﷻ but aren't taught to reject the Taghoot (false deities).

Allahﷻ said in Surah Al-Baqarah 2:256


لَا إِكْرَاهَ فِي الدِّينِ قَد تَّبَيَّنَ الرُّشْدُ مِنَ الْغَيِّ فَمَن يَكْفُرْ بِالطَّاغُوتِ وَيُؤْمِن بِاللهِ فَقَدِ اسْتَمْسَكَ بِالْعُرْوَةِ الْوُثْقَىٰ لَا انفِصَامَ لَهَا وَاللهُ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ
There is no compulsion in religion. Verily, the Right Path has become distinct from the wrong path. Whoever disbelieves in Taghut and believes in Allah, then he has grasped the most trustworthy handhold that will never break. And Allah is All-Hearer, All-Knower.
(Al-Baqarah 2:256)


SHUBHA (DUBIOUS ARGUMENT) #10


THE ONE WHO RECITES HIS SHAHADA IS STILL A MUSLIM NO MATTER WHAT HE DOES IN REGARDS TO SINS
  • THEN THEY QUOTE THE STORY OF USAMA IBN ZAYD


Usama ibn Zayb overpowered a mushrik on the battlefield and just as he was about to chop off his head, the mushrik cried out “I testify that there is no God except Allah”. In spite of that, Usama killed him with his spear. The prophet (saw) asked the Usama if he killed the man even after he testified to the shahada. Usama replied “he recited the shahada to save his neck”. The prophet (saw) asked the sahaba “did you split his bosom open to know if his shahada was real or fake?” Below is the Bukhari version of the Hadith:


Narrated Usama bin Zaid: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) sent us towards Al-Huruqa, and in the morning we attacked them and defeated them. I and an Ansari man followed a man from among them and when we took him over, he said, "La ilaha illal-Lah." On hearing that, the Ansari man stopped, but I killed him by stabbing him with my spear. When we returned, the Prophet (ﷺ) came to know about that and he said, "O Usama! Did you kill him after he had said "La ilaha ilal-Lah?" I said, "But he said so only to save himself." The Prophet (ﷺ) kept on repeating that so often that I wished I had not embraced Islam before that day. BUKHARI: Vol. 5, Book 59, Hadith 568


  • They use this Hadith to say, whenever a person recites the shahada, he has to be accepted as a Muslim regardless of what he does and regardless of sins.


REFUTATION TO SHUBHA# 10


The Hadith they quoted about Usama was taken out of context.
  • If the relationship between people can be ruined and destroyed, likewise, the relationship between a person and Allah can be ruined and destroyed when they do acts of kufr, shirk and apostasy.
  • Usama was wrong to kill the man after the man took his shahada.
  • He should’ve allowed the man to live to see if the man would live in accordance with the conditions of the shahada
  • By killing the man, he didn’t give the man the benefit of the doubt
  • Allowing the man to live would've been the better option to see if his Shahada was real or fake
  • The mushrikeen of the ummah who worship graves should not be compared to this man Usama killed
  • This is because they had ample opportunity to live, learn their deen, adopt the right aqeeda, practice proper Tawheed and become muwahhideen
  • But instead, they choose to worship the graves, declare war on the preachers of Tawheed, call them Wahhabis, and spy for the crusaders, Hindu's and Zionist against them.
  • They slander their names in the Muslim community by calling them extremist and khawarij.
  • Then they take sides with the crusader in killing them on the battlefield
  • The notion that whenever a person recites the shahada, he is still a Muslim regardless of what sins he might commit is a misconception
  • Because Abu Bakr Sadiq killed people as kuffar after they refused to pay zakah


SHUBHA (DUBIOUS ARGUMENT) #11


ISTIGHAATHA (SEEKING HELP BY PRAYING AND BEGGING) FROM THE DEAD IS ALLOWED BECAUSE THE PROPHETS ARE ALIVE IN THEIR GRAVES.


  • The grave worshipper claim that they aren't worshipping the dead because some prophets died as martyrs and are alive in the graves.
  • They use the below Ayahs as their Hujjah (evidence).

Allahﷻ said in Surah Al-Baqarah 2:154


وَلَا تَقُولُوا لِمَن يُقْتَلُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ أَمْوَاتٌ بَلْ أَحْيَاءٌ وَلَٰكِن لَّا تَشْعُرُونَ
And say not of those who are killed in the Way of Allah, "They are dead." Nay, they are living, but you perceive (it) not. (Al-Baqarah 2:154)


Allahﷻ also said in Surah Aali-Imran 3:169


وَلَا تَحْسَبَنَّ الَّذِينَ قُتِلُوا فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ أَمْوَاتًا بَلْ أَحْيَاءٌ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ يُرْزَقُونَ
Think not of those who are killed in the Way of Allah as dead. Nay, they are alive, with their Lord, and they have provision. (Aali Imran 3:169)

  • When the grave worshipper argues their Shubha to the layman, he is easily convinced because he is not knowledgeable.
  • The laymen are easily convinced because they bring the Quran to support their Shubha.
  • Also, they use Al-Isra Wal Miraj (journey & ascension) to convince the layman that the prophets are alive when the Rasoolﷺ lead the prayer with the other Prophets in Jerusalem.
  • This is the reason why there are millions of people who have become grave worshippers in India, Pakistan and Africa because of their Shubha.


REFUTATION TO SHUBHA# 11


  • There is a life in the grave for everyone, not just the Prophets.
  • Even the kuffar, there is a life in the grave.
  • There is life in the grave because there’s punishment in the grave.


HADITH


Anas bin Malik(RA) said:
"The Allah’s Prophetﷺ said: 'When a person is placed in his grave and his companions depart from him, he hears the sound of their sandals. Did you say about this man? Then it is said to him: Look at your place in Hell, Which Allahﷻ has replaced for you with a place in Paradise. The prophetﷺ said: 'And he sees them both.' "  
Sunan an-Nasa'i 2050 Vol. 3, Book 21, Hadith 2052

Allahﷻ said in Surah At-Takathur 102:1-3


أَلْهَاكُمُ التَّكَاثُرُ
The mutual rivalry for piling up of worldly things diverts you, (At-Takathur 102:1)
حَتَّىٰ زُرْتُمُ الْمَقَابِرَ
Until you visit the graveyards. (At-Takathur 102:2)
كَلَّا سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ
Nay! You shall come to know! (At-Takathur 102:3)

  • Proof of life in the grave doesn't legitimize the right to pray to its inhabitants.
  • Secondly, the belief that the Prophetﷺ didn't die and that he is Nur (light) is wrong because Allahﷻ mentioned that Muhammadﷺ is a man like everyone else.

Allahﷻ said in Surah Al-Kahf 18:110


قُلْ إِنَّمَا أَنَا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُكُمْ يُوحَىٰ إِلَيَّ أَنَّمَا إِلَٰهُكُمْ إِلَٰهٌ وَاحِدٌ فَمَن كَانَ يَرْجُو لِقَاءَ رَبِّهِ فَلْيَعْمَلْ عَمَلًا صَالِحًا وَلَا يُشْرِكْ بِعِبَادَةِ رَبِّهِ أَحَدًا
Say (O Muhammad SAW) : "I am only a man like you. It has been inspired to me that your Ilah (God) is One Ilah (God i.e. Allah). So whoever hopes for the Meeting with his Lord, let him work righteousness and associate none as a partner in the worship of his Lord." (Al-Kahf 18:110)


Allahﷻ also said in Surah Az-Zumar 39:30


إِنَّكَ مَيِّتٌ وَإِنَّهُم مَّيِّتُونَ
Verily, you (O Muhammad SAW) will die and verily, they (too) will die. (Az-Zumar 39:30)

  • Claiming that Muhammadﷺ didn't die goes against the Ijmaa (consensus) of the Sahaba (RAA).


HADITH


Abu Bakr(RA) said:
"To proceed, if anyone amongst you used to worship Muhammadﷺ, then Muhammadﷺ is dead, but if (anyone of) you used to worship Allahﷻ, then Allahﷻ is Alive and shall never die. Allahﷻ said: "Muhammadﷺ is no more than an Apostle, and indeed (many) apostles have passed away before him...(till the end of the Verse)... Allahﷻ will reward to those who are thankful." (3.144) By Allahﷻ, it was as if the people never knew that Allahﷻ had revealed this Verse before till Abu Bakr(RA) recited it and all the people received it from him, and I heard everybody reciting it (then).

Allahﷻ said in Surah Aali-Imran 3:144


وَمَا مُحَمَّدٌ إِلَّا رَسُولٌ قَدْ خَلَتْ مِن قَبْلِهِ الرُّسُلُ أَفَإِن مَّاتَ أَوْ قُتِلَ انقَلَبْتُمْ عَلَىٰ أَعْقَابِكُمْ وَمَن يَنقَلِبْ عَلَىٰ عَقِبَيْهِ فَلَن يَضُرَّ اللهَ شَيْئًا وَسَيَجْزِي اللهُ الشَّاكِرِينَ
Muhammad (SAW) is no more than a Messenger, and indeed (many) Messengers have passed away before him. If he dies or is killed, will you then turn back on your heels (as disbelievers)? And he who turns back on his heels, not the least harm will he do to Allah, and Allah will give reward to those who are grateful. (Aali Imran 3:144)

  • When Abu Bakr(RA) recited the above Ayah, all the Sahaba(RAA) agreed that the Prophetﷺ had died.
  • Going against the Ijmaa (consensus) of the Sahaba(RAA) is an act of Kufr.
  • Claiming that Muhammadﷺ is still alive is giving him the attribute of ever-living. This is also shirk because only Allahﷻ is the Ever-Living.


Allahﷻ said in Surah Aali-Imran 3:185


كُلُّ نَفْسٍ ذَائِقَةُ الْمَوْتِ وَإِنَّمَا تُوَفَّوْنَ أُجُورَكُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فَمَن زُحْزِحَ عَنِ النَّارِ وَأُدْخِلَ الْجَنَّةَ فَقَدْ فَازَ وَمَا الْحَيَاةُ الدُّنْيَا إِلَّا مَتَاعُ الْغُرُورِ
Everyone shall taste death. And only on the Day of Resurrection shall you be paid your wages in full. And whoever is removed away from the Fire and admitted to Paradise, he indeed is successful. The life of this world is only the enjoyment of deception (a deceiving thing).
(Aali Imran 3:185)

ISTIGHATHA (TO CALL ON SOMEONE FOR HELP), IN THE SENSE WHO ARE ALIVE BUT NOT IN OUR PRESENCE, IS NOT SHIRK.


  • For example, if their shaikh is called "Shaykh Muhammad Abdul etc" and he is in another country from where they are, they can say "Ya Shaykh Muhammad Abdul, help help..." They believe this is not shirk to them.

  • This is shirk because they are giving that person the attribute of The All Hearing.
  • Only Allahﷻ is the All Hearing.
