The Evil Effects of Sin (Notes & Audio)

The Evil Effects of Sins

by Shaikh Faisal

July 3, 2017

  • A sin is an act of disobedience to Allahﷻ.
  • According to the Shariah, there are 5 impediments:

  1. A child.
  2. A madman.
  3. Forgetfulness.
  4. A mistake or ‘slip’ of the tongue.
  5. Out of necessity or duress.

Ali (RA) reported that Allah’s Messengerﷺ said: "The pen has been raised for three persons (meaning they are not held accountable for what they do): one who is sleeping until he gets up, a child until he reaches the age of puberty, and an insane person until he becomes sane." [Musnad Ahmad (1/154) No. 1327, Sunan Abu Dawud (4/140) No. 4402, Sunan Tirmidhi (4/32) No. 1423, Sunan Ibn Majah (3/198) No. 2041, al-Sunan al-Kubra al-Nasa'i (5/265) No. 5596, Mustadrak al-Haakim (2/67) No. 2350]

Ibn 'Abbas (RA) the Allah’s Messengerﷺ said: "Verily Allahﷻ has pardoned [or been lenient with] for me my Ummah: their mistakes, their forgetfulness, and that which they have been forced to do under duress." [Sunan Ibn Majah (3/200) No. 2045, al-Mu’jam al-Kabir al-Tabarani (11/133) No. 11274, al-Sunan al-Kubra al-Bayhaqi (7/584) No. 15094, Sunan al-Daraqutni (5/300) No. 4351]

  •  A person can't make takfir on a Muslim based on an action out of duress.
  • For example, the kuffar taking your children and having to go to the kaffir courthouse to appeal.
  • Another example, if someone went in your bank account and took all your wealth. You are allowed to go to kaffir courthouse to get back what was taken.
  • Your children and wealth are considered duress and part of your 6 Sacred Possessions.
  • These examples are not Tahakum.

  1. Your Wealth
  2. Your life
  3. Your Children
  4. Your Lineage
  5. Your Aql (Mind)
  6. Your Deen (Religion)
  • Any action done to protect these Sacred Possessions is considered duress.
  • For example, if you are forced to say "Muhammadﷺ was a false Prophet " to save your life, you didn't commit any wrong.
  •  A Sahaba by name of Ammar Ibn Yassir (RA) did the same thing during the time of the Prophetﷺ.
  • Quraysh had killed both his parents and were about to kill him also.
  • He left the fold of Islam with his tongue only to deceive them and save his life.
  • Allahﷻ approved and agreed with his action.

Allahﷻ said in Surah An-Nahl 16:106

Whoever disbelieved in Allah after his belief, except him who is forced thereto and whose heart is at rest with Faith but such as open their breasts to disbelief, on them is wrath from Allah, and theirs will be a great torment.
(An-Nahl 16:106)

There are 2 types of Kufr:
  1. Major Kufr
  2. Minor Kufr

The Khawarij (Puritans) went astray because they are jahil (ignorant) in regards to tawheed (monotheism). They paint every kufr with the same brush and don't distinguish  between minor and major.

Some examples of minor Kufr:
  •    A man who drinks alcohol.
  •    A man who is married but has a girlfriend.

These actions are minor Kufr and doesn't take the person out of the fold of Islam. The only sin that can eject a person outside the fold of Islam is if the sin is classified as major kufr or major shirk. Sometimes a person may commit a major shirk, but we withhold making takfir on the person because he is jahil on the basis of giving the excuse of ignorance.

An example of this ignorance, is when politicians come to people asking for their votes.  In exchange that he, when elected, will bring electricity, internet, fix the roads, etc. So the person who voted didn't think about Tawheed Hakimeeyah, but rather only about the benefits he will supposedly receive. This person should be excused and takfir shouldn't be made so quickly because he doesn't understand the reality of democracy. Most Muslims are ignorant of this fact because the Muftis and Maulanas do not preach this fundamental to the masses.

Ibn Mas'ud (RA) reported that the Allah’s Messengerﷺ said: "Insulting a Muslim is going off the path (fusuq) and killing him is disbelief (kufr)." [al-Bukhari (48) and Muslim (64)]

  • The kufr in this hadith is minor kufr.
  •  A Sahaba named Abdullah(RA) was nicknamed ‘The Donkey’ because he was always cracking jokes and making the Prophetﷺ laugh. He was flogged by the Prophetﷺ for drinking alcohol. After he was flogged, the Sahaba cursed at him.  The Prophetﷺ heard what was said to him and ordered them not to curse at him because he loves Allahﷻ and His Messengerﷺ.

Narrated By 'Umar bin Al-Khattab(RA): During the lifetime of the Prophetﷺ there was a man called 'Abdullah(RA) whose nickname was Donkey, and he used to make Allah's Apostleﷺ laugh. The Prophetﷺ lashed him because of drinking (alcohol). And one-day he was brought to the Prophetﷺ on the same charge and was lashed. On that, a man among the people said, "O Allahﷻ, curse him ! How frequently he has been brought (to the Prophetﷺ on such a charge)!" The Prophetﷺ said, "Do not curse him, for by Allahﷻ, I know for he loves Allahﷻ and His Apostleﷺ." [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 8, Book 81, Hadith #771]

  • This proves that alcohol is minor Kufr.
  • Alcohol becomes major kufr when someone makes it halal (Istihlal).
  • The same ruling is applied to Zina (fornication).

  • Imam Shafi’i (RA) was walking and he saw the legs of a woman when the breeze blew her dress.  Then he began to forget the memorization of the Quran, even though he had a photographic memory.  Imam Shafi’i (RA) had a sheikh named Wak’ee and complained to him about his situation. He advised him to give up sins.
  • Imam Shafi’i (RA) was a doctor, poet and sheikh and explained his situation in 2 lines of poetry:

نور الله لا يهدى لعاصشكوت إلى وكيع سوء حفظي ..... فأرشدني إلى ترك المعاصيوأخـبرني بأن العـلم نــور ..... ونور الله لا يهـدى لعـاص

The light of Allahﷻ is not given to the disobedient: “I complained to Wakee’ of my poor memory. Leaving sins is what he guided me to address. He informed me that knowledge is a light. And Allah’sﷻ light is not gifted to those who transgress.” [Diwan ash-Shafi'i]

Allahﷻ said in Surah Al-Baqarah 2:282

So be afraid of Allah; and Allah teaches you. And Allah is the All-Knower of each and everything. (Al-Baqarah 2:282)

  • Two characteristics cannot be combined in a hypocrite.

Abu Huraira (RA) reported that Allah’s Messengerﷺ said: “Two characteristics cannot combine in a hypocrite: good character and an understanding of religion.” [Sunan Tirmidhi (5/49) No. 2684, al-Thiqat Ibn Hibban (8/227) No. 13149, al-Mu’jam al-Awsat al-Tabarani (8/75) No. 8010, al-Madkhal ila al-Sunan al-Kubra al-Bayhaqi (pg. 256) No. 357]

  • Sometimes you see a person who is poverty stricken and it's because they are very sinful.
  • Sometimes you see an entire country where the people are poor, like Haiti.
  • Their state religion is Voodoo (black magic).

Allahﷻ said in Surah An-Nisa 4:79

Whatever of good reaches you, is from Allah, but whatever of evil befalls you, is from yourself. And We have sent you (O Muhammad SAW) as a Messenger to mankind, and Allah is Sufficient as a Witness. (An-Nisa 4:79)

  • Allahﷻ tested three Israeli's, a leper, a bald man and a blind man.

Narrated By Abu Huraira(RA): that he heard Allah's Apostleﷺ saying: "Allahﷻ willed to test three Israelis who were a Leper, a blind man and a bald-headed man. So, he sent them an angel who came to the leper and said, 'What thing do you like most?' He replied, "Good color and good skin, for the people have a strong aversion to me.' The angel touched him and his illness was cured, and he was given a good color and beautiful skin. The angel asked him, 'What kind of property do you like best?' He replied, 'Camels (or cows).' (The narrator is in doubt, for either the leper or the bald-headed man demanded camels and the other demanded cows.) So he (i.e. the leper) was given a pregnant she-camel, and the angel said (to him), 'May Allahﷻ bless you in it.' The angel then went to the bald-headed man and said, 'What things do you like most?' He said, 'I like good hair and wish to be cured of this disease, for the people feel repulsion for me.' The angel touched him and his illness was cured, and he was given good hair. The angel asked (him), 'What kind of property do you like bests' He replied, 'Cows,' The angel gave him a pregnant cow and said, 'May Allahﷻ bless you in it.' The angel went to the blind man and asked, 'What thing do you like best?' He said, '(I like) that Allahﷻ may restore my eyesight to me so that I may see the people.' The angel touched his eyes and Allahﷻ gave him back his eyesight. The angel asked him, "What kind of property do you like best?' He replied, 'Sheep.' The angel gave him a pregnant sheep. Afterwards, all the three pregnant animals gave birth to young ones, and multiplied and brought forth so much that one of the (three) men had a herd of camels filling a valley, and one had a herd of cows filling a valley, and one had a flock of sheep filling a valley. Then the angel, disguised in the shape and appearance of a leper, went to the leper and said, I am a poor man, who has lost all means of livelihood while on a journey. So none will satisfy my need except Allahﷻ and then you. In the Name of Himﷻ Who has given you such nice color and beautiful skin, and so much property, I ask you to give me a camel so that I may reach my destination. The man replied, 'I have many obligations (so I cannot give you).' The angel said, 'I think I know you; were you not a leper to whom the people had a strong aversion? Weren't you a poor man, and then Allahﷻ gave you (all this property).' He replied, '(This is all wrong), I got this property through inheritance from my forefathers' The angel said, 'If you are telling a lie, then let Allahﷻ make you as you were before.' Then the angel, disguised in the shape and appearance of a bald man, went to the bald man and said to him the same as he told the first one, and he too answered the same as the first one did. The angel said, 'If you are telling a lie, then let Allahﷻ make you as you were before.' The angel, disguised in the shape of a blind man, went to the blind man and said, 'I am a poor man and a traveler, whose means of livelihood have been exhausted while on a journey. I have nobody to help me except Allahﷻ, and after Himﷻ, you yourself. I ask you in the Name of Himﷻ Who has given you back your eyesight to give me a sheep, so that with its help, I may complete my journey' The man said, 'No doubt, I was blind and Allahﷻ gave me back my eyesight; I was poor and Allahﷻ made me rich; so take anything you wish from my property. By Allahﷻ, I will not stop you for taking anything (you need) of my property which you may take for Allah'sﷻ sake.' The angel replied, 'Keep your property with you. You (i.e 3 men) have been tested and Allahﷻ is pleased with you and is angry with your two companions." [Sahih Bukhari, Vol.4, Book 56, Hadith #670]

  • This Hadith is proof that sins causes you to be poverty stricken.

It was narrated from Thawban(RA) that the Allah’s Messengerﷺ said: "Nothing increases one's lifespan except righteousness and nothing repels the Divine decree except supplication, and a man may be deprived of provision by a sin that he commits."' [Sunan Ibn Majah (5/152) No. 4022, Musnad Ahmad (5/277) No. 22440, Mustadrak al-Haakim (1/670) No. 1814, Sahih Ibn Hibban (3/153) No. 872, al-Sunan al-Kubra al-Nasa'i (10/380) No. 11775]

  • If you drink alcohol, gamble or perform other sins, Allahﷻ dislikes you, the Angels dislike you and the righteous people dislike you.
  • No one wants to be in the company of an evil person.

  • The sinful person fails at things he tries in life.
  • Nothing works for him.
  • He is useless, hopeless and helpless.
  • If a person has taqwa, Allahﷻ will find a way out (makhraj) for his circumstances.

Allahﷻ said in Surah At-Talaq 65:2-3

Then when they are about to fulfil their term appointed, either take them back in a good manner or part with them in a good manner. And take for witness two just persons from among you (Muslims). And establish the witness for Allah. That will be an admonition given to him who believes in Allah and the Last Day. And whosoever fears Allah and keeps his duty to Him, He will make a way for him to get out (from every difficulty). (At-Talaq 65:2)
And He will provide him from (sources) he never could imagine. And whosoever puts his trust in Allah, then He will suffice him. Verily, Allah will accomplish his purpose. Indeed Allah has set a measure for all things.
(At-Talaq 65:3)

  • Furqan is the criterion to judge between the bad and good, right and wrong, pure and impure.
  • When you are sinful, you no longer see truth as truthful and false as falsehood.
  • The Prophetﷺ used to make dua for protection against this regularly.

Allahumma arinal haqqa haqqaw warzuqnat tiba’ah, wa arinal baatila baatilaw warzuqnaj tinaabah
O Allahﷻ! show us the truth as true, and inspire us to follow it. Show us falsehood as falsehood, and inspire us to abstain from it.

  • The reason why the Prophetﷺ used to make this dua because everyone is not blessed with furqan.
  • For example, many people do not see homosexuality as abnormal.
  • If you were to ask people in Western countries about homosexuality, perhaps 60% of the people think it's OK.
  • That is why sins make you lose your furqan.
  • You need taqwa to have furqan.

Allahﷻ said in Surah Al-Anfal 8:29

O you who believe! If you obey and fear Allah, He will grant you Furqan a criterion [(to judge between right and wrong), or (Makhraj, i.e. making a way for you to get out from every difficulty)], and will expiate for you your sins, and forgive you, and Allah is the Owner of the Great Bounty. (Al-Anfal 8:29)

Ibn Mas'ud (RA) said: "Whatever the Muslims see as good is good with Allahﷻ, Whatever the Muslims see as bad, Allahﷻ sees as bad." [Mustadrak al-Haakim (3/83) No. 4465, classed as Sahih by Adh-Dhahabee]

  • This Hadith is proof that we (Muslims) are witnesses for Allahﷻ on earth because we have the furqan, not the Kuffar.

  • Salah (prayer) and Sadaqa (charity) is a burden on the hypocrite.

Allahﷻ said in Surah At-Tawbah 9:54

And nothing prevents their contributions from being accepted from them except that they disbelieved in Allah and in His Messenger (Muhammad SAW); and that they came not to As-Salat (the prayer) except in a lazy state; and that they offer not contributions but unwillingly.
(At-Tawbah 9:54)

 - An example of sins breeding sins is the story of Barsisa. He was a
monk who was entrusted with a girl to look after for three brothers.
 - One sin led to another.
 - Lust, Zina, murder, lies then finally shirk were the sins committed
   by the monk.

  • Sins are addictive.

Allahﷻ said in Surah Al-Mu’minun 23:99-100

Until, when death comes to one of them (those who join partners with Allah), he says: "My Lord! Send me back.
(Al-Mu'minun 23:99)
"So that I may do good in that which I have left behind!" No! It is but a word that he speaks, and behind them is Barzakh (a barrier) until the Day when they will be resurrected. (Al-Mu'minun 23:100)

  • For example, George Best was a famous football player from Belfast, Ireland.
  • He was addicted to alcohol and developed a bad liver.
  • He received a new liver but still went back to drinking alcohol.
  • The Quran is the greatest book on psychology but a person will not appreciate it until they are taught it.
  • This proves that sins are addictive.

Allahﷻ said in Surah Al-Mutaffifin 83:14

Nay! But on their hearts is the Ran (covering of sins and evil deeds) which they used to earn.
(Al-Mutaffifin 83:14)

  • For example, homosexuals believe they are Muslim and have established a gay temple in South Africa.
  • Their leader is named Mohsin Hendricks.
  • They call their place of worship a masjid but that's an oxymoron. They think their lifestyle and sin is normal.
  • The sin has been desensitized.

Meet the imam of Africa’s first gay-friendly mosque:

Allahﷻ said in Surah Al-Jinn 72:18

And the mosques are for Allah (Alone), so invoke not anyone along with Allah. (Al-Jinn 72:18)

  • Not only does the sin desensitize you, but also makes you hard-hearted.
  • When was the last time you went to a masjid and heard a Khutbah and cried?  Or heard a story of a Sahaba and cried?  Or cried from a Quranic recitation?
  • Some hearts are so hard that they can’t give sadaqa.

  • Some of you miss salatul Jumuah.
  • When you miss Jumuah prayer 3 times in a row, a black spot is formed on your heart.

Abu Al-Ja'd (meaning Ad-Damri(RA)) narrated, and he was a Companion according to the claim of Muhammad bin Amr(RA): the Allah’s Messengerﷺ said: 'Whoever neglects the Friday prayer three times (in a row) without an excuse, then Allahﷻ sets a seal upon his heart.'" [Sunan Tirmidhi (2/373) No. 500, Musnad Ahmad (3/424) No. 15537, Sunan Abu Dawud (1/277) No. 1052, Sunan al-Nasa'i (3/88) No. 1369, Sunan Ibn Majah (2/213) No. 1125, Sunan al-Darime (1/444) No. 1571, Muwatta Malik (1/180) No. 468]

  • Jumuah prayer is not mandatory on women, but it is for men.
  • However, it is fardth (mandatory) for women to attend the Eid salah.
  • Even menstruating women have to attend the Eid Salah during the time of the Prophetﷺ.
  • Imam Ahmad Ibn Hanbal(RA), Shafi’i(RA), and Malik(RA) say that Eid Salah is a sunnah, however Abu Haneefa(RA) disagrees. Ibn Taymeeyah(RA) agrees with Abu Haneefa(RA).
  • So it can’t be a sunnah because the Prophetﷺ ordered menstruating girls to come to the Eid, but they can't perform the prayer.
  • Eid Prayer shows the power of the Muslims.
  • Don't stay at home and do not fast on Eid day. It's haram to fast that day.
  • Only the munafiq fasts on Eid day.

Ibn al-Qayyim (rh) said:
1 – Being deprived of knowledge for knowledge is light that Allahﷻ causes to reach the heart, and sin extinguishes that light. When al-Shaafa’i (RA) sat before Maalik(RA) and read to him, he admired him because of the intelligence, alertness and understanding that he saw in him. He said, “I think that Allahﷻ has caused light to enter your heart, so do not extinguish it with the darkness of sin.”

2 – Being deprived of provision. In Musnad Ahmad it is narrated that Thawbaan said: “The Allah’s Messengerﷺ said: ‘A man is deprived of provision because of the sins that he commits.’”
(Narrated by Ibn Maajah, 4022).

3 – Sense of alienation that comes between a person and his Lord, and between him and other people. One of the salaf (righteous predecessors) said: “If I disobey Allahﷻ, I see that in the attitude of my riding beast and my wife.”

4 – Things become difficult for him, so that he does not turn his attention towards any matter but he finds the way blocked or he finds it difficult. By the same token, for the one who fears Allahﷻ, things are made easy for him.

5 – The sinner will find darkness in his heart, which he will feel just as he feels the darkness of night. So this darkness affects his heart as the physical darkness affects his vision. For obedience is light and disobedience is darkness. The stronger the darkness grows, the greater becomes his confusion, until he falls into innovation, misguidance and other things that lead to doom, without even realizing, like a blind man who goes out in the darkness of the night, walking alone. This darkness grows stronger until it covers the eyes, then it grows stronger until it covers the face, which appears dark and is seen by everyone. ‘Abd-Allah ibn ‘Abbas(RA) said: “Good deeds make the face light, give light to the heart, and bring about ample provision, physical strength and love in people’s hearts. Bad deeds make the face dark, give darkness to the heart, and bring about physical weakness, a lack of provision and hatred in people’s hearts.”

6 – Deprivation of worship and obedience. If sin brought no punishment other than that it prevents a person from doing an act of worship which is the opposite of sin, and cuts off access to other acts of worship, that would be bad enough. So the sin cuts off a third way and a fourth way and so on, and because of the sin he is cut off from many acts of worship, each of which would have been better for him than this world and everything in it. So he is like a man who eats food that is bound to cause a lengthy sickness, and thus he is deprived of many other foods that are better than that. And Allahﷻ is the One Whose help we seek.

7 – Sin breeds sin until it dominates a person and he cannot escape from it.

8 – Sin weakens a person’s willpower. It gradually strengthens his will to commit sin and weakens his will to repent until there is no will in his heart to repent at all… so he seeks forgiveness and expresses repentance, but it is merely words on the lips, like the repentance of the liars, whose hearts are still determined to commit sin and persist in it. This is one of the most serious diseases that are most likely to lead to doom.

9 – He will become desensitized and will no longer find sin abhorrent, so it will become his habit, and he will not be bothered if people see him committing the sin or talk about him. For the leaders of immorality, this is the ultimate shamelessness in which they find great pleasure, such that they feel proud of their sin and will speak of it to people who do not know that they have done it, saying, “O so and so, I did such and such.” Such people cannot be helped and the path to repentance is blocked for them in most cases. The Prophetﷺ said: “All of my ummah (followers) will be fine except for those who commit sin openly, and that includes cases where Allahﷻ conceals a person’s sin, but the following morning he exposes himself and says, ‘O So and so, I did such and such last night, so he shamelessly exposes himself when all night his Lord had concealed his sin.” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 5949; Muslim, 2744).

10 – When there are many sins they leave a mark on the heart of the person who commits them, so he becomes one of the negligent. As one of the salaf said, concerning the aayah (verse)–“Nay! But on their hearts is the Raan (covering of sins and evil deeds) which they used to earn” [al-Mutaffifeen 83:14 – interpretation of the meaning] – this means sin after sin. How this starts is that the heart gets stained by sin, and if the sin increases then the stain grows bigger until it becomes the raan (covering of sin and evil deeds), then it increases until it becomes a seal, and the heart becomes covered and sealed. If that happens after a person had been guided and had understood, then his heart is turned upside down, and at that point the Shaytaan gains control over him and directs him as he wants. [Ibnul Qayyim, al-Jawaab al-Kaafi (pg. 52-60)]

  • What goes around comes around.

Stay chaste and your women will be chaste, and save yourself from that which is unfit for a Muslim. Verily, adultery is a debt, if you have taken this debt, know that its payment will be taken from the people of your household. One who commits adultery, in return adultery will be committed with him, even though it will be committed against the wall of your house. O man! If you are wise then you should know it (Diwan Ash-Shafi'i)

  • Some Muslims say they don't believe that ‘what goes around comes around’ but this is a lie because sins is a debt that you owe.

  • When you are sinful, Allahﷻ will never help you in battles.

When Umar bin al-Khattab (RA) dispatched the army of Saad bin Abi Waqqas (RA) to the Battle of al-Qadisiyyah, he advised him: “Fear your sins more than you fear the enemy as your sins are more dangerous to you than your enemy. We Muslims are only victorious over our enemy because their sins outnumber ours, not for any other reason. If our sins were equal to those of our enemy, then they would defeat us due to their superior numbers and resources.”

  • Yassir Arafat fought to liberate the Palestinians but lost because he wasn't a real Muslim.
  • Jamal Abdel-Nasser fought in the name of Arab socialism and Allahﷻ didn't give him victory against the Israelis in 1967. Allahﷻ made it incumbent on Him to help the believers.
  • This is one of the many promises of Allahﷻ.

Allahﷻ said in Surah An-Nisa 4:141

And never will Allah grant to the disbelievers a way (to triumph) over the believers.
(An-Nisa 4:141)

  • The kuffar keep secret files on politicians and important people so that they can threaten their careers with a scandal.
  • They know that sins destroy your honor.

  • They destroyed his career with an article about him being with rent boys.

  • For example, a daughter knows her father is cheating on her mom. It will be hard for him to make his daughter wear hijab.
  • People even want imams to indulge in sins because they know it takes away their moral authority.

  • There was no HIV or herpes diseases during the time of the  Prophetﷺ.
  • HIV appeared in the 1980’s.

Allahﷻ said in Surah Ar-Rum 30:41

Corruption has appeared throughout the land and sea by [reason of] what the hands of people have earned so He may let them taste part of [the consequence of] what they have done that perhaps they will return [to righteousness].(Ar-Rum 30:41)

It was narrated that 'Abdullah bin 'Umar(RA) said: "The Allah’s Messengerﷺ turned to us and said: 'O Muhajirin, there are five things with which you will be tested, and I seek refuge with Allahﷻ lest you live to see them: Immorality never appears among a people to such an extent that they commit it openly, but plagues and diseases that were never known among the predecessors will spread among them. They do not cheat in weights and measures but they will be stricken with famine, severe calamity and the oppression of their rulers. They do not withhold the Zakah of the wealth, but rain will be withheld from the sky, and were it not for the animals, no rain would fall on them. They do not break the covenant with Allahﷻ and His Messengerﷺ, but Allahﷻ will enable their enemies to overpower them and take some of what is in their hands. Unless their leaders rule according to the Book of Allahﷻ and seek all good from that which Allahﷻ has revealed, Allahﷻ will cause them to fight one another.
[Sunan Ibn Majah (Arabic/English), Vol. 5, pg. 222-223, Hadith #4019]

  • People hear voices because they are very sinful.
  • The voices they hear are from the shaytan.
  • They are also schizophrenic.
  • It is haram (forbidden) to marry this person.

Allahﷻ said in Surah An-Nas 114:5-6

"Who whispers in the breasts of mankind (An-Nas 114:5)
"Of jinns and men." (An-Nas 114:6)

  • They are far away from Allahﷻ.

Allahﷻ said in Surah Ta-Ha 20:124-126

"But whosoever turns away from My Reminder (i.e. neither believes in this Qur'an nor acts on its orders, etc.) verily, for him is a life of hardship, and We shall raise him up blind on the Day of Resurrection." (Ta-Ha 20:124)
He will say:"O my Lord! Why have you raised me up blind, while I had sight (before)." (Ta-Ha 20:125)
(Allah) will say: "Like this, Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) came unto you, but you disregarded them (i.e. you left them, did not think deeply in them, and you turned away from them), and so this Day, you will be neglected (in the Hell-fire, away from Allah's Mercy)." (Ta-Ha 20:126)

  • The shaytan has power over some people because of their sins.
  • The shaytan leaves alone the person who makes dhikr.
  • The shaytan can tell who is remembering Allahﷻ.

  • A Dayooth is a man who is NOT jealous.
  • This person doesn't care if his wife is cheating on him, or his daughter has a boyfriend or even his son being gay.
  • A Dayooth simply doesn't care.

Narrated By Abu Huraira(RA): The Prophetﷺ said: “Indeed, Allahﷻ has Ghayrah, and the faithful believer has Ghayrah, and the Ghayrah which Allahﷻ has is provoked when a believer commits that which Allahﷻ has forbidden.” [al-Bukhari (4925) and Muslim (2761)]

Abdullah ibn Umar (RA) reported that the Allah’s Messengerﷺ said: "Three people will not enter paradise and Allahﷻ will not look to them on the Day of Judgment: the one who is disobedient to his parents, the woman who imitates men and the ad-Dayooth (cuckold, weak man who feels no jealousy over his womenfolk)..." [Musnad Ahmad (2/134) No. 6180, Musnad al-Bazzar (12/270) No. 6051, al-Sunnan al-Kubra al-Nasa'i (2/63) No. 2354, al-Mu’jam al-Awsat al-Tabarani (3/51) No. 2443]

  • A Dayooth is one of three people that Allahﷻ will not look at on the Day of Judgement.

  • For example, the people of Noah (AS) were destroyed by the flood  because they were the first to commit shirk.
  • The people of Salah (AS) killed the she-camel and were struck down by Allahﷻ.

Allahﷻ said in Surah Ash-Shams 91:14

Then they denied him and they killed it. So their Lord destroyed them because of their sin, and made them equal in destruction (i.e. all grades of people, rich and poor, strong and weak, etc.)! (Ash-Shams 91:14)

  • The people of Shuaib (AS) were destroyed because they used to cheat with the scales. were also sinful
  • The people of Lut (AS) were destroyed because they dabbled in homosexuality, loud farting, highway robbery and cock fighting.
  • When you leave a sinful city, you cannot look back.
  • Natural disasters even occur in our times.
  • For example, look a New Orleans. It's called the ‘Big Easy’.  Also, it's the capital for black magic in the USA.  Allahﷻ destroyed the city with hurricane Katrina in 2005.
  • Even after Allahﷻ destroyed the city, they still held the gay march called ‘The Mardi Gras’.

Narrated Ibn Namir (RA) from Abdullah (RA) from Naafi‘(RA)  from Safiyyah (RA) who said: The earth shook at the time of ‘Umar (RA), and he addressed the people and said: “If it happens again, I shall definitely abandon you and leave.” [Ibn Abi Shaybah in al-Musannaf (Vol.2, pg.221) No. 8335 and ibn al-Jawzi in Al-Muntazam fi Tarikh al-Muluk wal-Umam (Vol.4, pg.295)]

Have you ever seen a natural disaster in Mecca or Medina?
The answer is NO.

  • A man asked Aisha (RA) about earthquakes.

Anas (RA) says: “I went into the presence of Aishah (RA) whilst someone else was seated with her. The person asked, ‘O Mother of the believers, relate to us regarding earthquakes (as to their cause)’ She turned her face away. I (Anas) asked her, ‘Relate to us regarding earthquakes, O Mother of the believers!’ She said, “O Anas, if I were to inform you thereof, you will live a sorrowful life and you will die in this state of grief and you will be raised on the Day of Judgement whilst this fear is in your heart.” I said, “O Mother, relate to me.” She then said, “When a woman removes her clothes in a house other than her husbands (an indication towards adultery), she tears the veil between her and Allahﷻ. When she applies perfume to please a male other than her husband, this will be a source of fire and a blemish for her. When the people then begin to commit adultery, consume alcohol and use musical instruments, Allahﷻ becomes enraged above the heavens and orders the Earth to shake them. If they repent and refrain, then it is good for them, otherwise Allahﷻ will cause it to fall upon them.” I asked, “Is this their punishment?” She said, “It is rather a mercy, means of blessings and admonishment for the believers, and a punishment, display of anger and torment for the unbelievers.” [Mustadrak al-Haakim (4/561) No. 8575 and Kitab Al-Fitan (2/619) No. 1729]

  • For example, if you go to a Muslim country and commit zina with a girl, you will get killed.

Allahﷻ said in Surah Al-Furqan 25:68

And those who invoke not any other ilah (god) along with Allah, nor kill such life as Allah has forbidden, except for just cause, nor commit illegal sexual intercourse and whoever does this shall receive the punishment.
(Al-Furqan 25:68)

  • This ayah shows that murder and Zina goes hand in hand.

  • Sometimes you look in the face of a person and can see the evil in his face.

Anas ibn Malik (RA) said: I entered the company of Uthman ibn Affaan (RA) while I was thinking about the beauty of a woman I saw in the street. Uthman (RA) then said: One of you enter my presence and the remnants of zinaa can be seen in his eyes. I then said: Did revelation come down after the departure of the Rasoolﷺ? Uthman (RA) said: But this is the deep insight, foresight and intuition of the believer. [Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah, Madaarij as-Saalikeen (Vol. 2, pg. 455)]

  • Firasa (intuition) is a gift.
  • It is the ability to look in the face of a man and tell that he is a sinful person like a con artist or fornicator.
  • Firasa is better than furqan.
  • With furqan, you would hear the man speak to tell if he's sinful. However, with firasa, the person doesn't have to say a single word but rather can tell from his face.

Abu Sa’eed Khudri (RA) reported that Allah’s Messengerﷺ said: ‘Guard yourself against a Believer’s insight, for, he sees with the light of Allahﷻ.” He then recited: Surely in that are signs for the sagacious. (15:75) [Sunan Tirmidhi (Vol. 5, pg. 298) No. 3127]

On the authority of Thawban (RA) the Allah’s Messengerﷺ said: “All the people of the world will soon summon one another to attack you as people gather around a table when invited to partake of its meal” Someone asked, ‘will that be because of our small numbers at that time?’ He (the Prophetﷺ) replied: “No, you will be numerous at that time but you will be scum and rubbish like that carried down by a torrent, and Allahﷻwill take fear from the breast of your enemies and cast “wahn” into your hearts”. Someone asked ‘What is “wahn” O Allah’s Messengerﷺ?’ He replied “Love for the world and dislike of death.” [Sunan Abu Dawud (4/111) No. 4297, Musnad Ahmad (2/359) No. 8698]

On the authority of al-Hassan (RA) that Umar ibn al-Khattab (RA) saw a man with a big belly and said: “What is this?!” The man replied, “This is Barakah (a blessing) from Allahﷻ.” Umar (RA) said. “No, it is a punishment from Allahﷻ!” [Hadeeth Muhammad bin Abdullah al-Ansari (pg. 52) No. 42, Mu'jam al-Shuyookh al-Subki (pg. 531-532)]

  • A man in England was arrested because he had the Prada Willi Syndrome.
  • This syndrome is where you don't know when to stop eating.

On seeing a fat man, the Holy Prophetﷺ said: “If you did not have a paunch (big belly), it would be better for you. He also said: Overeating does not go with good health.” [Musnad Ahmad (4/339) No. 19005, al-Mu'jam al-Kabir al-Tabarani (2/284) No. 2184, Majma al-Zawaid al-Haythami (5/35) No. 7962]

On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (RA) who said: The Allah’s Messengerﷺ said: "Allahﷻ is Good and accepts only that which is good. And verily Allahﷻ has commanded the believers to do that which He has commanded the Messengers. So the Almightyﷻ has said: "O (you) Messengers! Eat of the tayyibat [all kinds of halal (legal) foods], and perform righteous deeds." [23:51] and the Almightyﷻ has said: "O you who believe! Eat of the lawful things that We have provided you." [2:172]" Then heﷺ mentioned [the case] of a man who, having journeyed far, is dishevelled and dusty, and who spreads out his hands to the sky saying "O Lord! O Lord!," while his food is haram (unlawful), his drink is haram, his clothing is haram, and he has been nourished with haram, so how can [his supplication] be answered? Narrated by Muslim.

  • When a person is sinful, he is uncomfortable when he’s around a Muslim.
  • Rather that person is more comfortable when he is with the kuffar. And sometimes he acts worse than the kuffar.
  • Your sins alienate you from the company of the Muslims.

Allahﷻ said in Surah Al-Mujadilah 58:22

You (O Muhammad SAW) will not find any people who believe in Allah and the Last Day, making friendship with those who oppose Allah and His Messenger (Muhammad SAW ), even though they were their fathers, or their sons, or their brothers, or their kindred (people).
For such He has written Faith in their hearts, and strengthened them with Ruh (proofs, light and true guidance) from Himself. And We will admit them to Gardens (Paradise) under which rivers flow, to dwell therein (forever). Allah is pleased with them, and they with Him. They are the Party of Allah. Verily, it is the Party of Allah that will be the successful. (Al-Mujadilah 58:22)

  • Sins affect your aging process.
  • It accelerates the aging process and destroys your health.
  • As a Muslim, you should look ten years younger than your age.

  • When a person knows your sins, you become their slave.
  • They are able to blackmail you for money because they will expose your sins.

  • If you backbite, slander, borrow money and didn't pay back, fight, punch, or kill, you have to pay back all these people.
  • This person will have to pay back people with his pious deeds.
  • This is the only currency accepted on that Day by Allahﷻ.
  • Dollar Bills or British Pounds are not accepted, so guard your pious deeds by not committing sins.

On the authority of 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (RA), who said: The Allah’s Messengerﷺ narrated to us: By Allahﷻ, other than whom there is no god, verily one of you behaves like the people of Paradise until there is but an arm's length between him and it, and that which is written overtakes him and so he behaves like the people of the Hell-fire and thus he enters it; and one of you behaves like the people of Hell-fire until there is but an arm's length between him and it, and that which has been written overtakes him and so he behaves like the people of Paradise and thus he enters it. [al-Bukhari (6594) and Muslim (2643)]

Abu Hurairah (RA) reported: Allah’s Messenger said: "Do you know who the bankrupt is?" They said: "The bankrupt among us is one who has neither money with him nor any property." He said, "The real bankrupt of my Ummah would be he who would come on the Day of Resurrection with Salat, Saum and Sadaqah (charity), (but he will find himself bankrupt on that day as he will have exhausted the good deeds) because he reviled others, brought calumny against others, unlawfully devoured the wealth of others, shed the blood of others and beat others; so his good deedswould be credited to the account of those (who suffered at his hand). If his good deeds fall short to clear the account, their sins would be entered in his account and he would be thrown in the (Hell) Fire." [Sahih Muslim (4/1997) No. 2581]
